Julia Louis-Dreyfus in Vera Wang at her first Oscars: effortlessly glam?

Julia Louis-Dreyfus presented best cinematography along with Will Ferrell. They acted like they thought a cinematographer was an on-set assistant and it was like an unfunny SNL bit. This was Julia’s first Oscars! I know because Lainey Gossip did a story about it, otherwise I would have assumed she’d been there so many times before. She was in a navy spaghetti strap Vera Wang that looked effortlessly glam and was so expertly tailored. Her Harry Winston diamond statement necklace sparkled so incredibly on camera. There were so many impressive diamond necklaces last night!

92nd Annual Academy Awards - Arrivals

Kelly Marie Tran was in a Schiaparelli Couture featuring a scooped waist and an ikat print neckline. She was one of the non-hosts tasked with entertaining the audience. I’m not a fan of these low waist gowns, but as those go this wasn’t bad.

Zazie Beetz was one of the first arrivals on the red carpet. She was in a fabulous black sequin Thom Browne strapless gown with tiny bows down the front. The real star was her styling. Her diamond Bulgari necklace and earrings are fabulous.

So many people loved Rebel Wilson’s gold metallic Jason Wu gown. The dress is cool and I like the lines of sequins. Her too-poofy hair is throwing off this look. Rebel and James Corden came out as their Cats characters and it was quite funny.

I like all of these dresses, Rebel’s in particular is really beautiful.
I can’t believe JLD has never attended an Oscar ceremony before! She always looks great in something very simple and elegant.

    • Esmom says:

Yes, JLD’s style is really timeless and elegant. She almost always gets it right. I agree with you on liking all of these. I like how happy Rebel seems to be with her look, too.

JLD was GORGEOUS head to toe. Timeless and perfect. Rebel was too monotone: either she needed lowlights to break up that brassy hair, or the gown to have more color…not sure. The red lips seemed too jarring for me. But the gown was gorgeous and you could tell *she* felt beautiful, which is what mattered.

And the jewels last night were gorgeous!

      • charo says:

Rebel is looking more and more fit, too, we can mention that.
Makeup was too harsh, though; she can do lucious paler colors, creamy, not harsh.

Wish Zazies was like 3in longer. It’s reading cocktail and not black tie at that length and looks more casual even with the diamonds. She looks amazing though.

  3. Becks1 says:

JLD’s whole look is amazing. The simple dress, that gorgeous necklace, her hair, etc. Just perfect.

I didnt find the jokes about cinematography to be that funny – it felt very dismissive to me of the work they do, even though I know it was poking fun at the idea that most people off a movie set probably dont know what a cinematographer actually does.

  4. Mabs A'Mabbin says:

No critiques here, like em all.

    • Qzie says:

They all look great. JLD what a figure! The jewelry! And Rebel Wilson’s skin looks like fresh cream. Beautiful and a poster child for sun screen. How refreshing that she wasn’t spray tanned! Gorgeous skin, agree with poofy hair but that dress is A+ on her as is her makeup.

  5. ChillyWilly says:

JLD looks perfect as usual. Rebel looked gorgeous and she and Cordon in those ridiculous Cats costumes cracked me up! I thought they were good sports considering they both got nominated for a Razzle thanks to Cats.

    • tealily says:

That bit made me cringe so hard on their behalves. And I felt bad for the poor visual effects people who worked on Cats and have already been dealing with the fallout from it. Getting slammed at the Oscars on top of it was probably not the best feeling.

  6. Polyanna says:

Rebel’s smile is to die for. Nice to see her taking care of her health so well, I’ve been following her health journey on her instagram a bit.

  7. Lisa says:

    Loved Julia, Zazie and Rebel.

  8. Scollins says:

JDL’s dress was a 7O’s lingerie knockoff, boring. Rebel looks every inch a movie star.

  9. Bella Mama says:

Jld was perfection except her face was pulled too tight.
    Didn’t like tran’s prom dress
Beetz… Wow, she’s gorgeous. Dress too cocktail length for the event but in other circumstances I would like it muchly.

  10. KBeth says:

I love all of the above! Beautiful & classy.

  11. Spicecake38 says:

JLD was beautiful on camera, the photos don’t do her look justice. The gown showed as a very deep navy and her necklace sparkled for days…If I ever had occasion to go to a glam event this is how I would want to look!

Zazie is so phenomenally gorgeous, she just looks ethereal in the pics.

  12. Estelle says:

JDL looks breathtaking – top 5 looks of the night – effortless, as you say.

  13. Sass says:

I was just glad to see Kelly there! People have been so mean to her. 🙁

    Rebel looks amazing!

  14. tealily says:

    Kelly Marie Tran looked gorgeous.

  15. Charfromdarock says:

    I love JLD’s and Rebel’s looks.

Julia’s looks like such an effortless timeless beauty. ( even though we all know how much effort there is!)

  16. dlc says:

Zazie probably had my favorite look of the night.

  17. Amelie says:

Rebel Wilson’s was my favorite dress of the night. I am pretty traditional in dresses I like–I know people love the fun fashion, crazy bows, plunging necklines, wacky hemlines. But for me the simpler the better and I loved her vintage Hollywood look. Someone mentioned her health journey on IG and I will have to go follow her to give myself motivation. It’s been awhile since I’ve seen her and I didn’t remember her looking this way the last time I saw her. Whatever she’s doing is paying off because she looks great.

Love JLD’s outfit and Zazie Beets too. Kelly Marie Tran’s bottom of her dress reminds me of a tarantula?
