We’re doing some Vanity Fair Oscar party photos but we’ll have more for you tomorrow too. It was a long night for us. Laura Dern isn’t always a miss on the red carpet, which is why it was disappointing to see her in that Armani boob-tassel number with very dated styling. The dangling parts kept moving during her acceptance speech and it was distracting. She let her hair down for the VF Oscar Party and it looked so much nicer. You could tell she had extensions, they reminded me of her character’s hair in Marriage Story, but they looked just full and not fake. Laura wore a 1017 ALYX 9SM blazer (thanks JJ for that ID) over a t-front black dress. This is a decent party look, and it’s not like she could have worn this for the ceremony. I wanted to see more from her. Oh and she carried her Oscar! I would bring that thing with me to all the parties too.
Rachel Brosnahan wasn’t at the Oscars but she did do the Spirit Awards the night before. She was super cute there so I don’t know what happened over the course of a day where she ended up like this. I don’t have an ID on this dress and that’s probably for the best. Her styling is so bad. Sometimes I wonder if celebrities know how terrible their looks turn out and just assume that’s part of the deal. A whole team of people created this look.
Joey King watched the Oscars at home, we know because she posted about it on her Instagram stories. Then she got glammed up to the go to the parties with her sister, Hunter King. I love Joey’s curly hair and her very mod brown dress. I wonder if this is 3D printed or laser cut. I feel like I don’t know enough about technological innovations in fashion. She looks like a wood nymph and this is fabulous. (Update: Just Jared has the ID on this and it’s a “threeASFOUR laser-cut cork fabric Fig Leaf Dress. Hunter is in Georges Hobeika.)
Emma Roberts kind of phoned it in in this black semi-sheer frou-frou gown. Her styling is pretty but now that she’s blonde she looks interchangeable with so many other actresses.

Tinkerbell/Ferngully realness. I like when red carpet looks seem to directly reference childhood fantasy dressing. Goodness knows I wore a locket on my forehead often enough trying to emulate the Empress in Neverending Story, if I was a 20 year old ingenue attending fancy dress events, I’d probably do it again. 🙂
Loved Joey’s dress and how she styled herself. She took a risk and pulled it off. She looks great. I haven’t seen Marriage Story yet, but I usually enjoy Laura’s acting. However, when it comes to fashion and styling, she is ALWAYS one hot mess in my opinion. I don’t think either of the gowns last night did her any favors last night and that mess she wore to the Spirit awards should be taken somewhere and burned.
I actually think that’s probably the most I can remember liking an Emma Roberts look. Styling and all. It’s very simple, but she looks great.
Laura’s hair looks great here. She’s a pretty lady, but she looks really nice here.
Joey’s outfit is super fun. It’s not something I’d ever choose, but I really like looking at it. It’s just really interesting.
I actually like Rachel’s dress. It just needed a lining. Her hair was a mess though. It’s like they didn’t know what to do with it.

Laura Dern looks better, but anything is an improvement over a dress that seemed inspired by a Victorian lamp shade.
I don’t like the cut outs, as they seem to draw your eye down and give me the illusion of sagging.
I thought the same about the sagging – Dern has a killer body and that dress isn’t doing her any favors. I like her better with a middle part. The back of her hair is just so “old lady” puffy to me, like she has one of those fake bumps people put under their hair.
Dern’s been wearing the black T-front dress since the mid90s! Someone put the photos on twitter and it’s great.
I like Emma’s dress, but find her highly annoying.
It’s weird how just because she’s female she’s gotten away with physical abuse against a partner.

Yeah she kinda does. Is her nose smaller than before? It’s like she has done something to zap all of the character in her face and I don’t think it’s just the blonde hair.

Laura looks nice but LOL @ her winning for her Marriage Story role. Even the pretentious film twitter people didn’t think she should have won which says a lot because they like everything performed by a popular white woman.
Laura’s look here is way way better than her Oscar look. Rachel B why baby why? I haven’t liked a look of hers since that gorgeous red gown. Who did this to you? The King sisters are impeccable, I’ve loved nearly everything I’ve seen them in, especially Joey.
