The Westminster bells will not chime for the Duchess of Sussex’s birthday, lol

archie2

In February, Prince Andrew celebrated his birthday. He had, at the time, recently stepped down from royal duties because he was BFFs with a rapist pedophile and he couldn’t stop lying about it in a BBC interview. Back then, in February, Andrew still had high hopes of making some kind of comeback, especially in the wake of the Sussexit. There were comeback moves around his birthday – there was a birthday party at the Royal Lodge, there was an offer of a naval promotion (which he gallantly deferred!), and of course the bells of Westminster Abbey chimed to mark the special occasion. Yes, the BFF of a known pedophile and human trafficker got his special birthday bells. But of course it will be different for the Duchess of Sussex’s birthday. From the Daily Mail’s Eden Confidential column:

OH, NO! Will this give the Duke and Duchess of Sussex yet another reason to be resentful? I hear that Westminster Abbey will not ring its bells for Meghan’s birthday next month.

To add insult to injury, it did ring them for the birthday of beleaguered Prince Andrew in February, even though he’d stepped down from royal duties.

They are due to ring for Princess Anne’s birthday, 11 days after Meghan’s. And they will chime again to celebrate the Duchess of Cambridge turning 39 in January.

A spokesman for the Abbey, where Prince William and Kate were married in 2011, tells me: ‘The bells are usually rung to mark the birthdays of senior members of the Royal Family, and through the line of succession to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and their children.’

However, Harry is sixth in line to the throne, two places ahead of Andrew.

[From The Daily Mail]

Can you imagine marrying into a family which is this f–king petty and gross? That’s what I keep thinking about – Meghan’s face when someone told her that she wouldn’t be getting any bell chimes for her birthday. I hope she laughed and rolled her eyes. I laughed. Even without the Andrew thing, this would be one of the stupider “look at us, we’re being so rude, we’ll make her so angry by being so rude!” moments from the Windsors. Considering that Andrew got chiming bells for his birthday and he actually committed real crimes like human trafficking and rape… and Meghan’s only crime was “being a black American woman” and “making other royals look lazy,” well… I hope she enjoys her birthday. In LA. In Tyler Perry’s mansion. By the pool. As she gently massages her baby bump.

I love that Andrew is “beleaguered,” like he’s just a helpless victim of persecution.

    • Betsy says:

IKR? Poor Andrew. The poors don’t like their children getting raped and victimized by the prince, for some reason.

  2. Betsy says:

She really only made one pair of royals look lazy, and she didn’t even make them look lazy. They did that all themselves.

I’m still salty she and Harry aren’t working royals, and I will be salty about it – specifically towards Willnot and Can’t – forever and always.

  3. CidyKitty(CidySmiley) says:

Honestly I bet they do it just to save face?

But these folks are petty lmao. Like they have nothing to do all day but spend money and be petty. Like they are so resentful of people who want to work that they would rather burn their own institution.

  4. Priscila says:

I dont think she cares, really. The RR will keep dragging, as I said, because nit doing it or worse, apologising is admiting they have been wrong, and they will never do that.

    • Snazzy says:

I doubt she cares, but I wonder if Harry does?

      • Ginger says:

Well, since the bells have never rang on his birthday I doubt it. They didn’t ring for Meghan last year or the year before. When Charles becomes King they will.

      • bettyrose says:

        Ginger –
That’s what I was wondering. Meghan isn’t the child of the monarch and Andrew is. There’s a million things wrong with the way the RF is closing ranks around Andrew, but this doesn’t seem like a thing to me? (Also, I don’t want people to know when it’s my bday. I can’t stand having a fuss made over it by people I barely know – so I’d be relieved AF in Meghan’s place).

  5. Elizabeth Regina says:

How sad for her. Hmm, let me see. Million dollar deals versus bells chiming. I know which I would pick considering they don’t even chime for Harry’s birthday and he’s meant to be the blood royal. Petty much UK?

  6. ABritGuest says:

A royal expert said it only rings for the monarch& monarch’s family& the next heir& family. So technically when Charles is King should ring for Harry etc. Non story but I guess a way to get clicks & feed the petty Fail trolls that Meghan is being excluded from a royal ‘perk’.

    • arbelia says:

      +1000

    • 10KTurtle says:

That’s what I got from reading that, too- it wouldn’t have happened anyway? Whatever, I’m sure Meghan was reaaaaally looking forward to it [eye roll].

    • Jegede says:

      Exactly.👌

As per protocol, they have never rung for Harry, Meghan, Edward, Sophie, e.t.c

But trust the Daily Heil to turn it into a slight on Meghan.🙄🙄

    • Michelle says:

Yeah…move on. Nothing to see here. Just clickbait.

    • VS says:

I cannot imagine that Meg felt like she was surrounded by idiots!!!! someone with her brains probably look at those people like “are they real?”

this story is fake because bells never whatever for Harry..who cares? are there adults or even kids who do? my goodness…

  7. Abby says:

THIS FAMILY IS SO FREAKING PETTY. I cannot.

  8. AprilMay says:

She was never going to get them- they’re Only for the queen Philip their kids and will and his family. Meghan didn’t get it last year if the year before. No matter who married Harry they wouldn’t get it

    • Argus says:

@AprilMay: Sssshh! Never let the facts get in the way of a good story

    • arbelia says:

That’s just another story destined to gain clicks and getting buzz.

    • Mumbles says:

So Harry’s never gotten them either? Interesting. Sounds like another example of the DM stirring shite.

      • anotherlily says:

Mumbles: Yes that’s exactly what it is. Westminster Abbey is a ‘Royal Peculiar’ which is a Church of England church “exempt from the jurisdiction of the diocese and the province in which it lies and subject to the direct jurisdiction of the monarch”. So the Queen gets to decide things like special bell-ringing days. Originally the bells were rung only for the Queen, her husband and her children. William and his family were added later.

  9. Joey says:

What a bunch of petty assholes.

  10. S808 says:

How are bells ringing or not ringing in any way significant or newsworthy?

    • Brit says:

It’s not at all 😂 These people are literally writing garbage at this point and keep proving everyday with their antics that Harry and Meghan leaving was the best thing to do. They see their dollars slowing down, jobs being cut, lawsuits galore and they seem to think that Harry and Meghan would solve all their problems. They are literally dependent on these two for survival and it’s crazy stupid.

  11. Mina_Esq says:

Imagine being adults, living in the 21st century, and STILL caring about petty sh*t like this. They are sad and pathetic. I hope she laughed.

  12. Case says:

Does it really matter? They stepped down from their royal duties so I’m sure she wasn’t expecting this, right? I doubt she cares. She’s in LA with her family, happily far from all that drama. This is a non-story for me.

  13. Nic919 says:

The bell ringing thing is pretty dumb and the fact it is being done for adult children and grandchildren in law is behind dumb. But these are people who give each other ribbons for tolerating adultery so I guess it fits.

Richard Eden of course was being petty and looking for clicks because Harry never got bells and they didn’t just get married. Because why cover the real story of the pedo escaping justice.

  14. SippingRoyalTea says:

This is such a petty and misleading story from that troll Richard Eden. The Bells only ring on the birthdays of the monarch and her children, and since QEII will never die or abdicate there’s a backup so the Cambridges had to be added to that list. So basically all four of the Queen’s children get the bells along with their spouses and all of the Cambridges. The bells didn’t ring for Meghan or Harry last year or the year before and they won’t ring for them until Charles becomes king.

  15. Tealie says:

The British strike again! How ever will she survive?! Can’t imagine how upsetting it must be not have bells ringing 1000+ miles away in an airspace which you will not hear and a time zone which you do not live.

  16. Kate says:

    Wait…baby bump? Is she pregnant?

  17. 10KTurtle says:

Does the average person, walking around London and minding their own business, hear the bells and think “Huzzah it must be our beloved prince’s birthday!” or is it more like “Oh hey, the bells are ringing, that sounds nice?”

    • Bohemian Angel says:

Well I never! Lol! Born and raised in London and still live here and never knew the bells rang for these arses, nobody but royalists and the family themselves care.
The problem is most people believe what these rags print, these stories are constantly repeated on tv shows throughout the day. The sun and the daily mail are the biggest selling newspapers here and most people believe what they say. Meghan never stood a chance once this smear campaign took hold!

  18. Becks1 says:

We all know she doesn’t care and it seems the bells wouldn’t have rung for her anyway, but its still petty AF that Eden is making this into a “thing” to try to make it seem like its a personal slight.

  19. Noki says:

These people are stone cold! Didnt they refuse to bring the flag down when Princess Diana died so who is Meghan to them.

  20. MadMangoMal says:

My husband’s family is the worst kind of toxic and after dealing with their shit for a decade I checked myself out around the same time Meghan and Harry were planning their escape. So on August 4th I will step out onto my deck, deep in the Eastern Ontario bush, and clang around a bell for Meghan. No one will here it but I will celebrate the hell out of any woman strong enough to say “f@#$ it all” and walk away. The only backlash I will face is a possible a side eye from my dogs. Sorry in advance to my dogs.

    • blue36 says:

Sorry to hear about your family. Lol to the bell ringing though.

    • Tealie says:

i love it! and congrats to you! Not many are strong enough to walk away from toxic families and walk their own path!

    • Jaded says:

You are a badass in the best possible way. Ring them bells – I checked out of a toxic relationship and family many years ago and it was the best thing I could have done. We’ll be with you in spirit on August 4th!

    • SomeChick says:

It’s my birthday that day too! I will have to find a bell to ring. LOL.

  21. Brit says:

These papers really think Meghan cares, lol. I’m starting to wonder if these reporters really believe the crap they spew because this is pathetic. It’s phony and it’s not making the Royal family look good at all. Maybe that’s intentional because they clearly have control over that family and are clearly upset about the lawsuits and lack of control and access over Harry/Meghan. How long before the media really turns on that family because right now it seems to be brewing underneath the surface. Tatler struck first, who’s next?

  22. Mabs A'Mabbin says:

Love me some tubular bells. Thanks all things royal across the pond for the early Halloween suggestion! We all need to celebrate the upcoming exorcism at the White House so please, let’s all raise a glass of bloody wine to tubular bells!

  23. TheOriginalMia says:

Ooh! I bet Meghan is just crushed. Crushed that some bells won’t ring for her birthday. These people are pathetic. Newsflash: if she doesn’t care about the title, I doubt she’s fussed about this. Especially, since they’ve never rung for her. I’m sure the haters will cackle in glee over this perceived slight, but not Meghan. She didn’t chase a title for status and false platitudes. She knows her worth is more than what the UK was willing to give her.

  24. yinyang says:

Nobody f-n cares about the royals but themselves!

  25. Feeshalori says:

I’m sure Meghan isn’t sobbing in her soup over the silence of the bells while living her best life in America.

    • lucy2 says:

Right? She’s in California. I doubt she cares, or would care even if she was in London.
      The tabloids are getting desperate.

  26. L4frimaire says:

Those bells have never rung for her birthday, not last year or the year before. No one cares except crazy haters. This is what the British press do. They know that this was never going to happen but make up some fake outrage, and then hope for some imaginary diva tantrum that’s never happening. This is silly and a way to churn out a story from nothing. Hope she has a lovely birthday, doing whatever they choose to do, in LA, thousands of miles away from Brexit island.

  27. Lowrider says:

Oh dear, this is a tragedy.

  28. Pearl Grey says:

The bells still chimed for an accused sex abuser and ex-senior royal who had to step down in disgrace, yet the same people who had no problem with that will be rubbing their hands together with glee over this fake “snub” story. Meghan will be spending her birthday glowing and aging backwards, far away from the toxic royals and that is gift enough. Her husband and baby will be showering her with love whilst the palace try to work out how to keep hiding Prince No Sweat before the FBI comes knocking. Meghan isn’t interested in empty “royal perks” (especially one she never got anyway). She readily left them behind, but people can’t stand how easily she threw them away and will still desperately try to convince everyone that she cares, to feed their narrative that she’s being “punished”.

  29. Lisa says:

As if Meghan cares. They stay trying to turn a non story into a story especially if it could make Meghan look bad.

  30. yinyang says:

Hey dailymail why dont you write articles about the white wife?? Baldy funds the republic organization and extends to the dailymail, they’re all pro-morachy that’s why you’ll rarley see articles about Williams family or prinec charles! Don’t donate.

  31. Ann says:

Harry rings the only bells that matter to her, and not just on her birthday ;-) And she his, no doubt!

  32. February-Pisces says:

I’m sure when it was Kate’s birthday the queen stood outside Buckingham palace and rung the bells herself, lol.

The royal mafia and the DM are only making themselves look even worse. Singling out Meghan, making it out that only she is the one the bells won’t ring for, only looks like segregation. So the royal family proudly rings the bells for all its white members, and excludes the only black one? Yeah it’s not a good look in the long run, but they can keep digging their own holes, this is just another example to add to the long list of all the times Meghan appeared to be segregated by them.

    • Mumbles says:

I’m not sure the Queen is that keen on Katie Keen. The stories we heard about the Queen finding her and William so wonderful seemed like Kensington Palace propaganda. The Queen thought she was lazy when her job was Waiting for the Ring in the mid-aughts.

      • February-Pisces says:

I know I was being sarcastic, lol. I don’t think anyone in the family likes Kate at all.

  33. jferber says:

Is she pregnant? Does anyone have any receipts?

  34. Ennie says:

    Edit

  35. Jay says:

I could be wrong, but I think I remember this being covered when they rung for Andrew. Meh. Just shows how important these sort of status symbols are to some royals, and explains why they would never believe someone like Harry could ever do without them.”He’ll be back, who could resist birthday bells?”

I’m more interested in whether Meghan rates a birthday shout-out on the Royal’s social media. And what photo they would use?

  36. Ennie says:

So those bells used to ring for Harry when he was younger? Did they stop ringing when George was born?

  37. Reece says:

“I hope she enjoys her birthday. In LA. In Tyler Perry’s mansion. By the pool. As she gently massages her baby bump.”
By the pool. Making a baby bump is more fun!

  38. Mariane says:

At times like these you know how these tabloids writers live in white bubble and dont interact with black brits. I mean they’re practically gloating about pedo Andrew getting a recognition whilst Meghan isn’t for choosing to walk away from the glittering cage and prioritising her mental health and family. Well done you idiot
If anything I think the sussexs are relieved to be completely uninvolved in royals at the moment. I doubt they’d want this even when chuck is king(which is when harry’s bday will be marked like this). We’ll get a confirmation once they reject the RF’s offer to reconsider at the 1 year review meeting

  39. morrigan01 says:

These people keep having ideas about what will make Meghan mad and feel slighted – and what she’ll demand to not be so – that I don’t in any way think Meghan gives to sh*ts about.

And to be blunt, I think it’s always things that *Kate* would feel slighted by and fight and be angry about if it happened to *her.* Because when it comes to articles like this, I don’t think the DM are acting in a vacuums coming up with this nonsense. I think this is stuff KP is passing on to them, particularly Ma Middleton.

Remember a few weeks before Archie was born, the tabloid talk that Meghan was going to insist on a high ranking title for her child? And how she would insist on a Lindo Wing presentation after the birth? Because yes, before H&M declared publicly that the birth would be private, it was being argued she would insist on a Lindo Wing steps thing along with a high-ranking title. At the time, reading those things, it felt like they were talking more about someone like Kate more than they were about Meghan. And this Bells on her Birthday thing reeks of that same energy.

Remember, the bells rang for Kate’s birthday this year – which coincided with H&M announcing that they were leaving (so no one was really paying attention). I think this “no bells for Meghan!” nonsense is KP – including Ma Middleton – trying to get back at H&M (Meghan specifically) for that. And also because Kate and Carole just can’t stop trying to compete with and try and paint Meghan as “lesser” than Kate.

It must be frustrating to continually try and compete with someone who doesn’t give two sh*ts about the things you care about though, but have zero insight enough to recognize that. So you just end up continuing to expose yourself and your own insecurities when you pull stunts like working with the tabs wrt things like this.

    • Tealie says:

I agree, they want her to care but she really doesn’t and it’s really hurting them so they keep pushing and pushing with these stupid articles that they know are lies so that she can eventually lash out and then they can fake gasp and feign victimhood and lie that it shows her ‘true’ character. it’s funny how the stories are always completely contradictory to reality, which shows how much they project on her according to the racial sexist stereotypes, it’s clear they don’t know her at all.

  40. blunt talker says:

The only bell ringing for Meghan’s birthday is the bell in her heart for Harry and Archie. To be honest I don’t remember them ringing last year for her or Harry. Archie just had a birthday in May-no ringing-who gives a damn.

  41. jferber says:

Who wants the bells from hell anyway?

  42. FashionMaven says:

Who cares about their dumb bells. SussexSquad just raised over $25,000 in less than 24 hours for Duchess Meghan’s birthday.

The Windsors are stupid and petty. W nor K could command that kind of enthusiasm from regular people ever. Let’s face it. Harry and Meghan won when they left and took all the interest and sparkle with them. That crumbling island in the middle of the Atlantic is just bitter at being dumped.
