Prince William took Kate & the kids on vacation to Cornwall this week

Coronavirus - Sun Jul 5, 2020

I have some shocking news! The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are on vacation! The poor sausages, I told you they were going to Zoom themselves into an early grave. So after months and months of staying at their country estate, Anmer Hall, with its palatial grounds and swimming pool and tennis court, the Cambridges just had to get away! They decided not to travel internationally, which… I mean, I think that’s wise, and I’m glad they avoided looking that tone-deaf. They went to Cornwall with the kids.

Prince William has whisked his family away to his childhood holiday spot for a quick staycation before George and Charlotte return to school, sources say. William and Kate, both 38, were spotted ‘enjoying the weather’ and stopping to greet their fellow holidaymakers as they cycled across Tresco, Isles of Scilly on Thursday. The royals decided to venture to the island near the coast of Cornwall for a ‘quick getaway’ before George, seven, and Charlotte, five, return to school, an insider said.

The family opted against heading abroad with their three children as any potential need to quarantine could impact their ability to work, the Mirror reported.

‘They decided on a quick getaway before the children return to school. They were keen to support our travel industry,’ the source added.

William is no stranger to the beauty spot, having visited the same island with his brother Harry and parents Charles and Diana as a child in June 1989.

[From The Daily Mail]

“The family opted against heading abroad with their three children as any potential need to quarantine could impact their ability to work” – wait, what? Will and Kate’s work for months now has just been Zoom calls and awkward photo-ops. And if they were going on vacation abroad, how would a quarantine affect that? No, they stayed in Cornwall because it’s easier, I get that. But it’s funny that a “source” piped up with “they were keen to support our travel industry.” They could have been using that excuse for years! Why did Will & Kate take so many vacations from fifteen years? Because they were supporting the travel industry, dummies. (Also: a “staycation” is when you stay at home, not in the same country.)

SO I have just learned from Twitter that in the UK, the term “staycation” is used when you stay in the UK, which is different from here in the US obviously. Can other British celebitchies confirm??

At any rate, staycation or vacation – the bit about the travel industry was CLEARLY in response to Travalyst lol. Also the bike riding, after Sharon Stone talked about H&M biking in LA – come on now. They really are so obvious.

And “impact their ability to work”? LMAO. We all know better.

That said – a friend of mine (American but lives in London) went on vacation in Cornwall last week and her pictures were STUNNING. It looked absolutely gorgeous.

    • Jessie Quinton says:

Cornwall is stunning but the beaches are literally packed at the moment with people “staycationing”. And now that Boris Johnson has delayed opening up lockdown a bit more, they may encounter some issues.

    • L84Tea says:

Okay, I was wondering if I was the only one whose mind immediately went to Travalyst when they mentioned supporting the travel industry. So it’s not just me…

    • Sofia says:

Yeah that’s what they mean when they say “staycation” over here. Holiday in the UK but not abroad

    • Lizzie says:

If anyone in the UK is wondering at the confusion, in the US a staycation is staying home and enjoying local fun or tourist destination that might be open.

      • Ang says:

A staycation in the US is just being off work. Not necessarily enjoying anything except being not at work.

      • Keke says:

Same in Canada- staycation is just hanging out at home in your home city.

      • Margaret says:

Same in Australia. A staycation is staying at home but acting like a tourist in your own city/town and doing the sorts of things tourists do there. Or just vegging out at home.

  2. @jan90067 says:

Dontcha know how HARD it is to get dressed and sit in front of a computer for FIFTEEN MINUTES every four or five days!? OMG GUYS!! IT’S BRUTAL!!

I will NEVER understand just WHY this crap they do is considered “work”. They are NOT involved in any research about their subject, nor any of the legwork to set things up… PWT even bragged about never reading his briefs before going out.

I am SO tired of hearing this lazy layabouts whining. Time to abolish House of Petty and its descendants. Let their OWN fortunes sustain them if they still feel “chosen by God” to do whatever it is they feel is so special.

  3. Kerenza says:

Yes – I can confirm we use ‘staycation’ to mean staying within the U.K. Cornwall’s my home and is indeed beautiful;-)

    • Argus says:

Lucky you! Londoner here and Cornwall is my family’s favourite staycation destination. We usually stay in Falmouth or St. Ives. Cornwall is breathtakingly beautiful and the sea food is so so divine. We might pop over there next week and see if we can spot the Cambridges cycling past us 😊

  4. Watson says:

With the access to all things luxury, Nannies, the number of vacations and the Botox …

I cannot believe these two are 38. Yikes.

    • Luz says:

Hi, I’m new here! Is there a way to report abusive and cruel comments to moderators?

      • Becks1 says:

Well, the moderators approve the comments lol.

      • Priscila says:

Abusive and cruel towards who? I would say it should be banned if it is commenter trashing another- I was just called an idiot on another thread for absolutely nothing- if it is about a celebrity we are speaking of ( regrading the comment of kelleybelle), I think we would be in a kind of a grey area here…this is a gossip site after all, it might be more classy than others, but it is still gossip.

But I dont know, if you feel strongly about it, just email cbcomments at gmail and check with them. Personally, I think being banned from commenting just because of a snarky remark about a celebrity is too much, but maybe it is just me

      • Lizzie says:

Personally I try to only comment on the article and NOT other commenters.

  5. Sofia says:

First of all what do they mean by before the kids go back to school? It’s August tomorrow so it’s the summer holidays now. Unless their school is having lessons in August or something. These kids don’t have school now until September.

And also “They were keen to support our travel industry”… I’m sorry but what? If they wanted to promote “staycations” they could do a quick tour of 2 days – no press, no crowds and pictures after it happened. While promoting local businesses and highlighting what they’re doing to ensure safety.

These two want a holiday. Which is fine but don’t dress it up as if they’re doing a great thing

  6. Bavarian says:

Staycation is a term used not only by the British government but also in other European countries. Even here in Bavaria. It is not only to keep covid down but to support the local tourism and hospitality industry. The BRF has to play with government ” ideas like that. Zero to day with the mysterious traveller or what ever the name of Harry’s company is.

    • Beach Dreams says:

Sure Jan re: your last sentence. Cute pretending you don’t know the name either (and trying to invalidate Travalyst with that “mysterious” dig just like the tinhatters…)

      • notasugarhere says:

bingo, Beach Dreams. W&K announce this ‘staycation’ during Harry’s Travalyst online summit as an attempt to grab attention.

  7. Mumbles says:

I gotta wonder if the remark about “supporting the travel industry” has anything to do with the meeting the Sussexes had about Travalyst? Seems very pointed.

I was very annoyed to see this termed in the media as a “staycation,” which I view as staying in your own home. Never mind the idea that people who don’t work at all can be seen as being on “vacation.” Their life is largely a vacation.

  8. Sarah says:

Whoever wrote that line about impacting their ability to work cannot have a had a straight face. I guffawed.

  9. 809Matriarch says:

    “support our travel industry…”

Willileaks just HAD to get in his bit about TRAVEL. What a loser!

  10. Lisa says:

I immediately went to travails as well when they talked about supporting the travel industry. And of course after all that hard work they needed a vacation.

  11. TeamMeg says:

It’s getting easier and easier to lampoon these two. (P.S. That brassy hair color on Kate is the worst!)

    • Lizzie Bathory says:

Right?! I can’t figure out whether she actually thinks this “bronde” look is flattering or whether her colorist is a member of the Sussexsquad.

      • 809Matriarch says:

Her hair is probably beginning to go gray. She is gonna do like a lot of ageing brunettes, go lighter and lighter until she can go full blonde without much comment. Katie Couric did that too.

      • Lizzie Bathory says:

@809Matriarch Oh, that makes sense. I don’t think this looks great, but maybe she thinks darker brown would look harsh or something.

      • Nic919 says:

Kate has been very grey for years now so this sudden colour change isn’t because of that. And it needs to be less brassy, but really the dark colour works best on her. Not whatever this is.

      • EveV says:

“or whether her colorist is a member of the Sussexsquad”. 🤣🤣
I completely agree with all the comments about the horrible bronde color. Especially when you see the older pictures that Kaiser posted of Kate with dark hair, and how much better she looked with dark hair.

    • Korra says:

I thought it was a wig when I first saw it. A couple people made comparisons to Melania Trump and quite frankly, Kate looks like she could be the same age as Melania, especially with that color.

  12. Mignionette says:

Still can’t get over the blue sister wives dress. I wonder if Rose has one in solidarity?

    • HeatherC says:

Its the same dress Abigail Spencer wore to Harry and Meghan’s wedding.l, except AS added a belt. She also wore the same exact dress that an elderly woman (I forgot who) wore to the wedding at another time.

      • Becks1 says:

No, the dress she is wearing in these pics is different from the dress Abigail Spencer wore to the wedding – but Kate does have that dress. It really comes down to style -when Kate wears it, it looks frumpy and dated, but on AS it looked trendy and quirky. Once Kate wore the same dress that Drew Barrymore had just worn, and it was the same thing – Drew made the dress look fresh, Kate made it look matronly and dowdy .

      • Beach Dreams says:

Like Becks1 said, this is a different dress. Crown Princess Mary does have this dress too and wore it last year. It’s an awful dress imo but she definitely wore it better than Kate.

  13. Aidevee says:

Bet they didn’t pack up the car and sit in the traffic on M4 like the rest of Britain!

They’ll have helicoptered there ‘to support the British travel industry’ and because they are so normal.

  14. Flying Fish says:

They are just continuing to be two lazy asses.

  15. candy says:

Ugh, I am so desperate to see the water. I live in the desert but haven’t felt comfortable enough to cross state lines.

  16. MerryGirl says:

Supporting the local travel industry my a**. Just read that this spot falls under Prince Charles’ Duchy of Cornwall so any money spent goes right back into the Royal’s pockets. So clever.

  17. RoyalBlue says:

where i am from a staycation means staying in your country because people tend to travel abroad to vacation.

they need a vacation from nothing because nothing these two do even closely resembles work. their life is a story of unearned pampering and vacations.

  18. Jay says:

It’s good that somebody on team Cambridge realized that their usual jaunt to Mustique would seem obnoxious/oblivious.
The detail about not being able to work during the 14 day quarantine seems weird – is there some ban on zoom in quarantine that I’m not aware of? Also, if it’s truly a vacation, I don’t get worrying about work? More like what a person who never works might respond to criticism of being workshy?

Anyway, mentioning international options at all makes it clear that Cornwall wasn’t their first choice, but hey, they’ll do their duty to “support the travel industry”, lol.

    • Beach Dreams says:

It’s just more nonsense excuses with these two. The few in-person “work” appearances they’ve done included a pub visit and picking up a damn birthday cake. The shamelessness run deep with them.

  19. Lizzie says:

They eat dinner to support the food industry. They sleep to support the mattress industry. They put on shoes to support the shoe industry. Cathy Cambridge actually does support the the eyeliner industry. They support the travel industry without showing them traveling. Where was the Top CEO photography superpower?
    Defund the Cambridge’s.

  20. LittlePenguin says:

If you could start all of the Cambridge stories with: “The poor sausages, I told you they were going to Zoom themselves into an early grave. ” I would appreciate it. This sentence has had me laughing ridiculously to myself all day long.

  21. notasugarhere says:

Countdown to ‘surprise’ pap pics of this family outing, mimicking the posed photos of Charles, Diana, and kids bicycling in – you guessed it – Isles of Scilly.

    • Nic919 says:

Definitely, especially to divert from their uncle being a rapist of underaged girls. I wouldn’t rule out the photos coming out on August 4th either.

    • DeeDee says:

Just read it on IG Isle of Scilly cycling event via Mirror. Pre-dick-ta-bull as hell. Andy who? Ghislaine Max—- ?

    • Tessa says:

Yes, time for pics of the kiddies as more Epstein/Ghislaine dirt comes out. Smokescreen for Andrew.

  22. Justwastingtime says:

Poor little Poppet (William) is so Ti Ti… zoom calls are boring, no special gardening sessions allowed and having the wifey around all the time is no fun..

On a shallow note, it really is a pity that he looks so bad bald.. some men can really carry it off.. my 21 yo shaved his head in March when he came home to finish the semester.. I told him now he knows what he will look like bald if he shares that fate with the men on my side of the family (pretty good actually) it’s hard to tell if someone has a nicely shaped skull till they start losing their hair. William’s paternal grandfather looked good even when he started balding.. William should have done some discreet Rogane to keep what he had once it was clear that he wasn’t able to carry it off.

  23. Princess Caroline says:

See I’ve always been generous with the term staycation. Basically if I can drive there in 3 hours or less I consider that a staycation bc it’s usually just a long weekend. Anything longer than that I’ll take a flight and stay a longer.

  24. starryfish29 says:

It’s amazing to me that they a.) thought this was a good look & b.) are of course getting away with it. Who the f*ck is vacationing during a global pandemic, and what on earth do you need a vacation from your enormous country estate for? Although in truth none of this should surprise me, even Ray Charles can read a room better than these two.
