Donald Trump is already calling VP candidate Kamala Harris ‘nasty’

Baby Archie meets Archbishop Desmond Tutu during a visit to Africa

Yesterday was a great day for Black women! Serena Williams won her match in Lexington from a set down, the Duchess of Sussex continues to be free from all of the Petty Windsors’ crap and now Kamala Harris is the first Black woman and Asian-American woman to appear on a national ticket. Joe Biden had clearly chosen Kamala Harris weeks ago, if not months ago. So it wasn’t the most startling news yesterday, when his campaign announced it via text-blast. Still, I was happy, because Biden could have f–ked it up at the last minute, but he didn’t. He chose the most experienced person on his shortlist. He chose the woman who held his feet to the fire and called him out publicly during the campaign. He chose the woman who would challenge him the most. But is Kamala the “safe choice”? That’s what political analysts say!

What’s telling is that Biden — and his team — didn’t feel the need to reach for a less predictable pick. They knew that while picking Harris would draw considerable attention, it would also be the thing most people expected them to do. Despite the historic nature of putting Harris on the ticket, Biden and his advisers knew that selecting Harris might be described by some as unsurprising. But one man’s “unsurprising” is another man’s “safe.” And that’s exactly what Harris is — and what Biden believes he needs.

See, if you are Joe Biden, making your third run for president and ahead in virtually every swing state and nationally over President Donald Trump, every day between now and November 3 you want to do nothing that threatens to change the underlying dynamics of the race. And those underlying dynamics are that this election is a referendum on Trump’s first term in office and, more specifically, the deeply haphazard and erratic way in which he has handled the coronavirus pandemic in the country.

Under that theory of the case, Biden needs to spend most of his time convincing voters that Trump deserves to be fired and a (relatively) small amount of time making sure they believe he could do the job in the incumbent’s place.

[From CNN]

I disagree! I think if Biden wanted to play it safe, he never would have promised Jim Clyburn that he would choose a black woman as a running mate. If Biden wanted to play it safe, he would have chosen some boring-ass white dude as a running mate. If Biden wanted to play it safe, he wouldn’t have chosen the bête noire-candidate of the Bernie people (although they don’t like anyone). I do believe that Biden’s polling position means that he felt like he could take a bigger chance with his VP pick. I also think that Biden is like everybody else: he wants to see the debate between Kamala Harris and Mother’s Husband. LOL.

Also, the Trumpers have literally no idea how to attack Kamala. It’s amazing. I’ve seen so many comments about how Senator Harris treated Brett Kavanaugh badly at his Senate hearing and I’m like… lol, you get that’s why we like her so much, right? She was mean to a drunk rapist, oh noes. Where the Nasty Women at??!

lol I love how he thinks nasty is a problem, like we didn’t all embrace being a nasty woman four years ago. also clear he’s struggling to come up with new material haha.

    • KT says:

I read Mary Trump’s book and his father used to call women nasty all the time as a put down. Of course trump can’t even come up with an original insult

      • Rapunzel says:

KT- he really can’t come up with anything more original. All he has are these stock insults. Some Trumpsters are even calling Kamala “Hillary Harris” cause the dumb is incurable.

I’d tell Trump and his ilk to get a thesaurus, but they probably think a thesaurus is a dinosaur.

    • Giddy says:

Now I get to pull out my treasured t-shirt from 2016 that says

      “Nasty Women Vote!”.

    • whatWHAT? says:

yeah, how many times can he say “very” and “nasty” in one sentence.

when I saw his response yesterday, I was like “yeah, AND?…is that it? ‘nasty’? ‘very very nasty’? AND?…”

      his shtick is so tired.

      • phaedra7 says:

His brain can only think of certain words because he is an uneducated cheater (i.e., retained another student to take his SATs, etc.) and has a very limited vocabulary.😫😒🤬

Also, being a full-blown racist misogynist, he made these same remarks about Duchess Meghan shortly after her nuptials to Prince Harry. DMFer!

      • Juls says:

Yeah, its difficult to expand one’s vocabulary when one can barely read.

    • Otaku fairy says:

      Exactly.

    • Nan says:

When Donald Trump says “Kamala is nasty”, what we women hear him say is “Kamala is awesome”. Ha ha ha!

  2. Edna says:

Every time Trump opens his mouth, “nasty” words flow out.

It’s not a slam dunk by any means the Biden-Harris ticket will win. It’s a long road to November 3 and the ugliness is just beginning. This will probably turn out to be the most vile Presidential election ever and I hope everyone practices self care to avoid being depressed and turned off. We’ve all got to roll up our sleeves and get to work to drive that Orange 🤡 out of the White House.

  3. Silver Charm says:

Meghan McCain is going to lose it and I love it.

    • Chica1971 says:

Now if we can get rid of her annoying presence. Anna Navarro signed on for Biden so it should be interesting on View. Meghan has now idea about intersectionality and race..she is the original nepotism Barbie.

    • Carol says:

Yeah, I am hardcore democrat and I’m gonna lose it too. Biden just threw his presidency away with his VP pick. Soooo disappointed. Even that guy who predicted all the winning presidents said with this vp pick, trump will win again. Ugh. Im moving to Amsterdam if that idiot gets re-elected.

      • Darla says:

        “that guy”? Ari Fleisher?

      • whatWHAT? says:

I don’t agree with you AT ALL that he “threw away” the presidency with his VP choice.

and I can’t find any record of Allan Lichtman saying the same. do you have a link?

      • H says:

How do you figure this? The Bernie Bros were never going to vote for Biden unless Bernie was the VP pick. We knew that wasn’t happening as Biden said all along he was picking a woman. I wanted Tammy Duckworth, but I’m going to go out and campaign and vote for this ticket. Harris is not Tim Kaine (nice guy but boring AF).

I did see the Bernie Bros losing their crap on Bernie’s Twitter feed last night. I rolled my eyes hard, so hard I think I broke something.

      • Anna says:

I’m not sure if this is what Carol means, but my feeling is similar. It’s historic but I think people (other than Black women) seriously underestimate how much this country/this country’s people (other than Black women) hate Black women. I’m afraid that this may cost the election because Amerikkka simply cannot envision a Black woman anywhere near the presidency. I hope I’m wrong. We shall see. Non-BW talk a good game but hopefully everyone else will actually show up for us…

      • Darla says:

I mean, Anna, white women weren’t there for Hillary, so…I think 4 years of this horror has taught SOME of them a lesson. But trump is gonna get the majority white vote no matter who Biden’s vp is, and Kamala excites our base.

      • Carol says:

My comment has nothing to do with Kamala Harris’ race. She is problematic IMO. If he chose Michelle Obama (if she was available as VP), I think he would have had 100% better chance. There were other choices, black or white, who would have been a better choice. Her stance on healthcare and numerous issues is divisive. She is a horrible choice. But Biden locked himself in a corner by committing to choosing a woman as opposed to the best choice. Sucks. Get ready for another 4 years of Trump folks. You can pull blinders on and think his choice won’t annihilate Biden’s chance of winning but it has.

      • Elizabeth says:

Carol, she is not a horrible choice. Good lord. You’re really … against this woman.

You’re wrong. Kamala is a moderate. She is not divisive. Bernie Bro types and Trumpers are divisive.

      • whatWHAT? says:

Elizabeth, methinks Carol is a pot-stirrer…one of those who’s actually a trumphumper and posts crap like this to divide and make actual Biden/Harris supporters doubt themselves and their choices.

note that I asked for some evidence of “that guy who predicted all the winning presidents” changing his mind on who he predicts to win and got zippo. the fact that she didn’t even know Lichtman’s name is telling.

What will tell us for sure about how his VP pick affected his chances will be post-pick polls. the only thing I’ve found so far is that Vegas odds on Biden winning went up by 2% after his pick.

  4. Stellainnh says:

The IMPOTUS calls every strong woman nasty. I see it as a badge of honor.

Joe’s current strategy of say nothing and let this administration hang itself will have to change. I need to hear what he and Kamala will do.

  5. BlueSky says:

Nasty is his way of saying “b@tch”

    • Chica1971 says:

Can’t wait for debate with Pence. I’m curious if he can debate Harris. is this the point that Nikki Haley is brought on and Pence is dumped. Will Nikki start using her Indian name instead of her anglicized name?

    • Miumiiiu says:

It’s funny he doesn’t use it for like pimp Ghislaine or the porn star he dated … only for Hillary Pélosi Kamala types.. really is quite a compliment

    • Jaded says:

And as Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez said so eloquently “B@tches get stuff done!”

      • Darla says:

She’s so eloquent, yeah. Hasn’t managed to muster even a tepid “congrats” to Kamala though.

  6. Sarah says:

I haven’t taken my Nasty Woman pin off my jean jacket since 2016 and I’m THRILLED it’s having a resurgence. Very much looking forward to Kamala annihilating Pence with just a single glance in the debate.

    • Astrid says:

The Biden/Harris campaign should sell Nasty t-shirts as a fund-raiser.

    • Mumzy says:

Yes! And at this very moment I’m wearing my “Nevertheless, She Persisted” t-shirt!! When negative things are said about women in power, it’s amazing how oftentimes taking prideful ownership of it just fuels us to push forward.

    • Juls says:

We also need “reclaiming my time” shirts.

  7. Scollins says:

Watching Kamala tear into rethugs will be better than drugs. I bet ‘Mother’ won’t let Pence attend the debate.

  8. KBeth says:

He’s scared of her & he should be.

    • lucy2 says:

Trump and Pence both are. I bet Pence was sh!tting a brick last night at the thought of debating her, especially since one of the big reactions was “wow, she’s going to DESTROY Pence!”

  9. Hellohello says:

I swear, Trump’s vocabulary totals about 100 words.

    • Also Ali says:

      You are not wrong.

    • whatWHAT? says:

      I bet it’s less.

he uses the same descriptors over and over (nasty, tremendous, beautiful) and then just adds “very” a few times, depending on how much he wants to emphasize how nasty, tremendous or beautiful something is.

anything negative is a “hit-job” and anything positive is someone “being very very nice” to him. and anytime he’s trying to sell something, in true carnival barker form, it’s ALWAYS “like nothing you’ve seen before” or like “nobody’s done before”, even if you HAVE seen it before or it HAS been done before.

other than that, it’s all playground insults and “fake news”.

  10. KellyRyan says:

Anyone recall the words, Being In Total Charge of Herself? I want a Nasty Woman T-Shirt! Once again Dumpty is living in 1950. “The Suburban housewife will vote for me.” Who relates to this, Pence’s wife, mommy?

  11. Swack says:

“He chose the woman who held his feet to the fire and called him out publicly during the campaign. He chose the woman who would challenge him the most.”

This is why Trump doesn’t understand why Biden picked Kamala. In the years that Trump has been in office he has gotten rid of (and continues to do so) anyone who does not 100% agree with him. Trump doesn’t understand that people opposing his ideas is a good thing as it puts a different perspective on things.

    • Maida says:

This is a very important point. Trump can’t bear criticism, can never admit he’s wrong, can’t seem ever to reflect on what he’s done and grow. Both Biden and Harris behave like adults, able to listen to others and consider their perspectives, but stand their ground when they need to. To Trump, EVERYTHING, no matter how petty, is a “battle” he must “win.”

    • Scal says:

THIS. I WANT a VP that’s going to push and not just be a sycophant yes yes pleaser. To trump anyone (esp a black woman!) talking back to him makes them a enemy not a ally. Tell me who has the weaker ego.

A strong woman is a ASSET

    • lucy2 says:

This made me respect Biden more – a lot of other people (especially older white men) wouldn’t be able to get past it. He not only did, but sees it as an asset, as he should – someone in that position needs people to challenge him, challenge his decisions and ways of thinking, and not be afraid to say it.

  12. Orca says:

I bet money Bigly was fuming about all the attention that Joe Biden and Kamala Harris got yesterday when the announcement was made. No one cared about his stupid press conference. It infuriates me that Trump, credibly accused of a lifetime of sexual assault, braggart of finding his own daughter “so hot” feels like he can call any woman nasty. I hope it backfired on him and women vote against him in a historic landslide!!!

  13. whatWHAT? says:

I encourage all of you Celebitches to purchase one of these. (I hope this link is OK!)

    http://www.themachineshoprocks.com/Nasty_Uppity_Radical_Angry_Noncompliant_p/nuran.htm

bought it a few years ago and wear it proudly.

  14. Lightpurple says:

Trump let out a whole symphony of racist and sexist dog whistles this morning in just one tweet to that “suburban housewife” he insists will vote for him because he will keep her safe from “low income housing.” And, in case anyone missed that he equated “low income housing” with Blacks, he threw Cory Booker in to the mix too. Except he spelled it “Corey.”

    • UnfreakingUnbelievable says:

Unfortunately, I live and work among a lot of suburban women who will vote for Trump because of the threat of low-income housing in their communities. These are college-educated women who have good jobs. My social circle is getting smaller and smaller.

      • Andrea says:

I find it sad that some women say they aren’t racist but don’t want low income families in their neighborhood—or people of color period. I have a friend who is African American and she was asked if she was renting when she and her husband BOUGHT their house. The racism that still prevails is disgusting.

  15. Feedmechips says:

This Nasty Woman can’t wait to watch Kamala eat Mother’s husband alive.

  16. Kate says:

Time to dig out my “Nasty Woman” t-shirt from 4 years ago!

  17. Valerie says:

Aww, he feels threatened. My heart breaks for him. Not.

  18. Leah says:

The nasty women of this nation are going to send him packing and he’s terrified.

    He should be. Bigly.

    • Ravensdaughter says:

Yes, nasty women scare the hell out of him. Kamala will chew up Pence and spit him out.
No criticism of Biden, but I wish Kamala could have a shot at Trump!

  19. Tate says:

Kamala was my first choice in the primaries. I was holding my breath and hoping Joe would pick her. Let’s go!! #BidenHarris2020

    • Bettyrose says:

Mine too, although she actually dropped out prior to the first primary so Trump’s comments about her showing in the primaries are of course inaccurate, though he somehow managed not to mention 17th century airports in the clip above.

  20. KK2 says:

She is by far the safest of all the women who were discussed as potential VPs in the media. She’s been vetted via national campaign and media exposure- all her dirty laundry is already out there. She’s not super progressive. He said it would be a woman months ago so Clyburn wasn’t even in the race. I don’t think picking a woman or even a nonwhite woman as VP is particularly risky in this election. I would have been really surprised if he didn’t pick her. I’m happy for her- she has earned this. It’s not a bad thing to be a safe pick. VPs usually are (bc everyone fears what Palin did to McCain’s campaign).

  21. Rapunzel says:

Trumpsters are also mocking Joe for having *gasp* a script when announcing the choice. Cause preparation is a bad thing.

And all this handwringing over Harris being “phony” and a “sellout” for * gasp* acting like she was truly running against Biden when she was truly running against Biden. Especially hilarious considering the GOP is full of Trump sycophants who were name calling him till he won then attaching their lips to his giant orange behind.

    • whatWHAT? says:

“Especially hilarious considering the GOP is full of Trump sycophants who were name calling him till he won then attaching their lips to his giant orange behind.”

AND the ones that 45 was calling names or insulting their wives, and they ALSO lined up to kiss his behind. I mean, if I were Ted Cruz’s wife (god help me), I’d be P*SSED that he not only didn’t respond to 45 calling me ugly but ALSO then continued to defend him to the public! she must be a doormat.

  22. Ann says:

“Nasty” is going to seem so quaint in a hurry. The news cycle for the week will be Kamala unless trump or one of his idiot loyalist do something awful and mega splashy, so… This is a huge, historic moment so I expect the level of awfulness to be high.

Eta: or he’ll drop Pence as VP. Fingers crossed it’s that and they don’t get a running start on the obvious racism, which is what I’m expecting.

    • Kelly says:

At this point, it’s too late to drop Pence as VP. If he had wanted to go with that course of action, he should have done it by early summer. If he were to do it now, it would come across as responding to Biden’s choice of Harris, not as something he did on his own.

Also, Pence’s appeal to him is that he secures the evangelical turnout in November, which is necessary for the GOP given the polling numbers in both the presidential election and Senate races. Pence also is loyal and, most importantly to Trump, appears to have no ambition to overshadow him. That’s a marked contrast to some of the Republicans rumored to be possible Pence replacements. Nicki Haley and Kristi Noem are two female Republicans who have been rumored to be Pence replacements and neither are as meek or submissive as Pence is. Both are ambitious and actually competent women who may not be willing to go against those traits to appease Trump.

  23. MellyMel says:

    Aww he’s scared…I love it!!

  24. Janet says:

Another election campaign bereft of actual policy debate. Great. 🙄

    • whatWHAT? says:

not that I don’t think policy debate is important, but do we really need it this time around? if you really need debate on policy between the two candidates to make your decision, you haven’t been paying attention.

one wants to be and is making moves to be a dictator. ruining our environment and giving tax breaks to rich donors while poor folks suffer. putting babies in cages. trying to dismantle the ACA. (allegedly) assaulting women. friends with child traffickers. a complete and utter bigot. uninformed. intellectually incurious. likely in the beginning/middle of a slide into dementia. a crook, through and through. and this is not to mention his total lack of coherent response to a pandemic (while trying to blame “the black guy” who hasn’t been in office for 3.5 years).

ANY of the dem candidates this time around would be better than 45. Biden wasn’t my first, second or even third choice among the primary candidates, but he’s WORLDS better than what we have. I know how his policies will differ from 45. I don’t need that debated…and, truly, NOBODY should this time around.

      • JustMe says:

whatWHAT? says: I so agree with you!

      • Janet says:

But I have been paying attention and I’m over the puerile partisan insults. I WANT to know what these people are proposing to do to make life better for ordinary Americans in the next four years. Let’s hear it.

      • whatWHAT? says:

Janet, at the risk of sounding condescending, google is your friend.

they have laid out their plans for America, both in writing and in speeches. I find it hard to believe that you are paying attention but don’t know what his plans are.

but I’m feeling nice today, so:
        https://joebiden.com/joes-vision/

that should be a start for you, ok?

    • Cinnamon says:

Any campaign that involves Trump will be lacking in policy debate because, as the dolt as already proven in multiple interviews, he has no policy platform. He’s a grifter, a thief, and is solely out to enrich himself and his cronies. We’ve had almost 4 years to see that and at this point, they can put a turnip on stage next to Trump and I’m #TeamTurnip.

  25. Andrew’s Nemesis says:

Bitchies, when I saw that Kamala had been picked as VP this morning, I leapt out of my bed and did a happy dance. What a wonderful day this is.
This nasty woman on the other side of the Atlantic will be glued to her TV during the debates and on election night, wearing her nasty shirt and C*nt Crown. I. Can’t. Wait. For Orange Mussolini to melt down and Pence to take his puckered asshole-like little mouth and disappear.

  26. JillyBeann says:

Trump called her nasty but wished the best to Ghislaine Maxwell………

    Telling….

  27. Teebee says:

The unoriginality of the insults for women and POC is so hilarious. Like there is so little to work with in the form of insults, that they are losing their efficacy, in my opinion. As if they ever really had an effect with people of intelligence.

Pretty well Harris has either slept her way to the top or threw everyone in jail.

    Over and over.

Meanwhile Trump’s list has filled novels.

  28. Jay says:

At this point, if I were a public figure, I’d be insulted if Trump if I didn’t earn the moniker “Nasty” from Trump at least once.

To ever be seen as acceptable to him and his ilk is a sure sign that I would need to seriously reevaluate some life choices.

  29. AnnaKist says:

Well, well, Ms Harris has wasted no time in getting under Bigly Clown’s skin.
He has a problem with women in general, unless they are blonde, busty, backward and worship at the Fool’s Gold altar of trump inc. strumpet. Now, put in front of him a highly intelligent, well educated, feisty, powerful, assertive, non-blonde woman who can see right through him, and what does he do? Calls her a nasty, nasty woman. He probably wet his Depends when he heard the news. But as Rapunzel stated upthread, “the dumb is incurable”, and I expect a good lot of Stepford wives, daughters and sisters to vote for the moron.

  30. yinyang says:

I loved Bernie too, but I think he would’ve been a liitlle too obsure. They needed face and a little bit of glam that’s what Kamala brings. This was well played, they brought out the big guns to take out a big personality like Trump. I finally feel like we can win this!! It’s time for the adults to take back the WH, then finally a little peace and quiet…

  31. Liz version 700 says:

Trump looked really upset during his daily word salad bizarro world press conference. She will eat him alive and let Biden be the healing guiding voice. I was called a Bitch once and I smiled and said “you say that like it’s a bad thing.” If Evil Step grandpa Ranty is calling you nasty you are doing life right.

  32. ChillyWilly says:

I cannot wait to see Kamala wipe the floor with Mother’s husband in a debate!

  33. Riley says:

I agree with the article and the only thing I found shocking about the Kamala announcement was how surprised people acted. She is a smart woman and will be a serious asst to the ticket. Also, he never committed to a black woman for the ticket, only a woman. I think it would have been Amy if she didn’t go down in flames after not prosecuting George Floyd killer previously. Go Kamala!

  34. Bluenoser says:

I love so much that a Black and South Asian woman is viewed not as a radical choice but as a safe choice for Vice-President of the United States. As a woman of Indian ethnicity, this makes me deliriously happy! I’m not American, but I cried happy tears!!!

  35. MsIam says:

So happy and many are fired up about the ticket. The polling I’ve seen shows that Trump is only solidly leading among white men and evangelicals and there is a lot of overlap in those groups. He’s under fifty percent with every other group. And trust me, the GOP are quaking in their boots. They so wanted Susan Rice for the pick, they had their Hillary email memes all ready to go. Alas for them, lol.

  36. Jayna says:

She was my VP pick. She’s formidable. I’m watching her speech right now in Delaware. I am so teared up. The Repubs are losing their minds it’s her.

    #Biden/Harris2020

  37. The Recluse says:

    Cue up Janet Jackson’s Nasty.
It needs to be re-recorded for current events.

  38. I agree with the article.
