Donald Trump denies going to Walter Reed & suffering from ‘a series of mini-strokes’

President Donald Trump Delivers Remarks at Council for National Policy Meeting

‘Tis the pre-election season, where a slew of new books have come out or are coming out about the Trump “presidency.” This week, we’re apparently talking about Donald Trump V. The United States by Michael S. Schmidt (a Pulitzer-Prize winning NYT reporter). Schmidt’s book is largely about the Mueller investigation and the efforts, within the administration, to rein in an unhinged orange nutjob. In excerpts released in the Times yesterday, this was a minor point:

Schmidt writes that Mitch McConnell fell asleep during a classified briefing on Russia, for example, and he details the F.B.I.’s shambolic reaction to evidence of the hacking in 2016, including an unresolved disagreement over how to handle the material. Describing Trump’s unexpected November 2019 visit to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, he reports the White House wanted Mike Pence “on standby to take over the powers of the presidency temporarily if Trump had to undergo a procedure that would have required him to be anesthetized.” (The vice president never had to take this step.)

[From The NY Times]

The November 2019 emergency trip to Walter Reed was explained as part of Trump’s physical… but being anesthetized is not part of any physical. So what was that Walter Reed trip about again? He was literally rushed there on a Saturday morning and no one saw him publicly for three days. While Schmidt didn’t say it, Trump went ahead and denied… something.

A series of mini-strokes, you say? A fascist who is physically deteriorating before our eyes? The dude who only bothers to deny something when it’s true? Yes, I think the chances are pretty good that Trump has been having mini-strokes. Also: it looks like Trump might have been reacting (preemptively?) to a Drudge Report headline about his strokes:

The Lincoln Project threw this together fast.

Here’s Trump comparing cops murdering civilians to “choking” at golf.

Here’s Trump ranting about SOUP.

I can’t laugh at any of this. We’re going to have 4 more years of this buffoonery. They will stop at nothing to keep him in the White House.

    • MaryContrary says:

I agree. There’s nothing funny about this. Our democracy is crashing and burning before our eyes-I alternate between despondent and furious.

    • Tiffany :) says:

I’m actually really surprised that The Drudge Report has started to turn against him. That gives me hope, but I am also suspicious of it!

      • Mel M says:

Agreed, sometimes I’ll see my husband reading it and I’m like why are you reading that crap and he says he reads it about other stuff but I hate to give it traffic for anything.

  2. Jerusha says:

Any medical experts here? Can you assure me that a series of mini strokes is just the prelude to the big, final one? Keep hope alive!

    • paranormalgirl says:

TIAs don’t always lead to massive stroke. There’s about a 50/50 shot that someone with TIA activity will end up having a massive stroke in the future.

    • Digital Unicorn says:

Mini strokes can lead to Sub Cortical Vascular Dementia – that is what my mother had. She had a series of mini strokes that left brain damage, which in turn caused the dementia. He is showing the same signs she did around the time she was diagnosed. You can bet he has been diagnosed but they are not ever going to release that information – Nagini is positioning herself and her family to take over the Presidency when Daddy’s condition cannot be hidden any more. If he wins the election, he and GOP will make the US into a Trump autocracy – that family are not leaving the White House.

Given his weight, drug use and fast food diet, i’d say he was more at risk of a heart attack.

      • Jerusha says:

I’ll applaud any exit method. Just soon, please. I have never wished for anybody’s death so much, not even Dick Cheney.

      • molly says:

Mini strokes leading to Sub Cortical Vascular Dementia happened to my grandma as well. I don’t think she had a big stroke, but she DID have a big fall that led to her eventual death.

      • Delight_ says:

Yeah, given he is obese and his diet is crap, he probably already has some form cardiovascular disease (probably hypertension, atrial fibrillation)… so he’s at a very high risk of having a heart attack and a full on stroke.

    • Swack says:

Just by experience with my mom. She had small tia’s. She experienced some short term memory loss but no physical impairment. She did not have a massive one later on.

    • Delight_ says:

They can be. Patients that suffer from TIA are at greatest risk of a mayor vascular even (full on stroke that is not transient) shortly after the first event. The risk decreases in the following 3 years, and then progressively increases again over the next 10 years. Even with a TIA, there is a high chance that patients can have permanent damage with a transient ischemic attack (which I wouldn’t rule out of Trump, ha).

  3. Lightpurple says:

I believe he didn’t have a series of mini-strokes; I believe he had an actual, full stroke, albeit mild, that resulted in that mad dash to Walter Reed.

I’m going to spend the morning ordering large bags of soup and more black clothing so I’m ready to fly anywhere to burn a city completely to the ground and scare the bejeezus out of Rand Paul. Soros will reward me handsomely.

Nagini is in Detroit today, using our tax money to campaign illegally in a swing state.

    • LULU wang was robbed says:

Where the hell is my check from George Soros? I was promised our chaos would be bankrolled goddammit!!!

      /s

    • Swack says:

      😂🤣😂😂🤭
True about a possible full stroke. My mom’s tia’s weren’t discovered until the did a scan on her neck for other reasons.

  4. Sarah says:

    “…your favourite President, me…”

    Wow. I just…wow.

    • Miranda says:

I know, right? Hell, he’s not even my favorite SHITTY President.

      • buenavissta says:

LOL! OMG. Miranda, you win the internet today.

      • phaedra7 says:

He should be no one’s favorite ANYTHING! Even when he was a private citizen back in the day, many of my family members, friends plus coworkers said that “this guy is nothing but trouble” (especially when he vehemently made accusations against the “Central Park Five” now “Exonerated Five”. What an EVIL PO💩! 🤬

    • Lightpurple says:

There are 44 other Presidents I like more.

    • megs283 says:

That statement actually made me laugh out loud.

    • Miranda says:

@phaedra I have a friend who thought that Trump was only famous for tabloid gossip and his numerous bankruptcies. She didn’t even realize that he had his name slapped on a bunch of shoddy buildings. And yeah, I’m a New Yorker, where we’ve despised him for decades, and we tried to tell everyone who and what he was, but they still voted the asshole in. Willful ignorance of the worst kind.

  5. Miranda says:

Why doesn’t he just admit it? His worshipers will vote for him no matter what. They didn’t give a shit when he admitted to routinely sexually assaulting women, or when he admitted to spying on teenaged pageant girls, or when he called murderous neo-Nazis “fine people”, or when he was revealed to be close friends with a prolific pedophile, or when he sat back and let millions of Americans contract a virus that has probably killed 200,000 of them, or when he let Russia put bounties on American soldiers, or when he brazenly tried to fuck up the upcoming election, or when he stands by and lets PoC be slaughtered by police, or when he tear gassed people for an “I’m a good Christian” photo-op, or when he encouraged his followers to attack peaceful protesters…

I’m aware that my comment went on for far too long, and yet I’m almost positive I missed some egregious bullshit that he’s pulled and gotten away with.

    • Christin says:

His ardent followers are unreachable by this point. While they may be more vocal and likely magnified by an army of bots, they are not the majority.

I have to remind myself of this every single day. We are living in a snake oil salesman’s reality show.

      • Jerusha says:

One of my sisters has a gay grandson in a longterm relationship and a biracial toddler great-grandson. She loves both madly. The trump administration would negate rights for both of them. And she’s a trump supporter!!!!! Constantly posts pro-trump shit on facebook, including forwarding the lies from right wing sites. I can’t comprehend it.

      • Christin says:

@Jerusha – The level of dissonance is astounding, isn’t it?

Your sister’s situation reminds me of a woman interviewed who was upset over a family member (I think it was her spouse) being deported when the raids started. She was a total dump supporter, even though it was crystal clear that immigrants other than one certain anchor baby mama were in the crosshairs of this administration.

If a second term happens, your sister can keep posting whatever lies are told about why Social Security and Medicare are being decimated. I’m sure it will be Obama’s fault.

      • (TheOG) Jan90067 says:

A NY friend of mine has a son (mid 30s now) who married an OC, CA woman (VERY republiTHUG area here) and moved out here. The son and wife are HUGE Trumpet MAGAts who loved him…now, they don’t “love” him…but yell, “HE’LL KEEP MY TAXES LOWER” (they are high income bracket), and “BUT JOE’S MENTALLY UNFIT!”. This is ALL they care about, not any of what Miranda said.

        My friend despairs their ignorance.

      • Mel M says:

@Jan, yep, the people who argue about their taxes being the reason they vote for him only show you that they are just as bad as the frothing at the mouth worshipers of his because they care more about their money then they do about human beings and what’s being done to them in this country. If you can still defend this man after all of this you are a terrible person and there is no hope for you. Literally none.

      • Charlie says:

Jan – 5th gen Californian and OC brat here (lovin’ life in the midwest these days). I used to joke that I never met a Democrat until I went away to University. But this, this is not what I grew up with. This is not that Republican party. Newt Gingrich, Ralph Reed and the “moral majority” ran the party into the religiously zealous, racist, hateful thing it is today. The Republican platform today is all the things Republicans used to say government had no place in (your church, bedroom, doctor’s office, etc.) And no one is going to take back the party for fear of losing donors. The party needs to cease to exist, so that something new can grow in its place. #GOTV

    • Dutch says:

He doesn’t admit it because a) It would seriously put the 25th Amendment into play, b) A major part of his campaign is saying Biden is medically unfit for office and c) Would admit weakness, which is not part of the wanna-be dictator playbook.

      • Chaine says:

ITA, he sees any physical aberration as a sign of weakness. He wrote his own doctor’s letter in the last campaign claiming perfect health and constantly attacked Hillary for that one time she stumbled while having the flu.

    • Tiffany :) says:

The only reason your comment went on for so long is because he has such a long list of behavior unacceptable in a president. It’s not your fault his rap sheet is 12 pages long.

    • Joanna says:

      Yes Miranda, 👍 👍 👍 👍

  6. Snuffles says:

It’s so obvious he’s not well. So I can buy he’s had strokes. One could also argue for dementia. He really should withdraw but the Republican Party is going to prop him up
Weekend at Bernie’s style until he actually drops dead.

    • Miranda says:

I bet he could still manage like, 30% of the vote, even as a corpse. Republicans are THAT stupid and racist.

    • paranormalgirl says:

Yet he and his are trying to paint Biden as having dementia. Trump is a master of projection

  7. Darla says:

This is why strokeahontas was trending on twitter all day yesterday i guess? I am trying to not delve too far right now, I need the break. I saw a big argument about the appropriateness of that term. I find everything so exhausting. I may just quit it all and stick to tv and film twitter.

    • Swack says:

I hear ya! Feel the same way many days.

    • Alarmjaguar says:

Yes, but that term is totally awful and demeaning to an actual Native woman (and speaks volumes about how Native people are overlooked and only thought of as stereotypes in this country). There’s no debate, it is bad and shouldn’t be used. I hope that wouldn’t be what drives you from social media (though I feel you about how awful the steady stream of bad news on sm is. Breaks are good)

    • Yup, Me says:

The term is completely inappropriate, but it pokes him for repeatedly calling Elizabeth Warren Pocahontas. I don’t like the disrespect of the historical Native woman, but I get the joke and I do hope President Shiny Turd sees it and strokes out again.

  8. Mabs A'Mabbin says:

I don’t care about his f*cking health. I don’t want him winning because he’s falling, I don’t want him to win because he’s the Antichrist. He’s Scientology’s demon. Vote because of that. Vote because he wants a civil war. Vote because he’s a megomanical bastard shit stain. Can the king shit with the hands not wiping? Please?

  9. Sarah says:

OMG that soup video – notice how he said a brick is too heavy to pick up? a BRICK?!?!? They are not heavy! I have to laugh … through tears… but then, Laughter through tears is my favorite emotion… 🙂

  10. emmy says:

Ya, I don’t buy it only because nobody would notice mini-strokes with this one. It must have been something bigger. But you know, Obama wore a tan suit once so that’s the same.

Why is he referring to himself as candidate? Do presidents do that while running for re-election?

  11. KellyRyan says:

Between the drugs, heart disease, poor diet, manic behavior I continue to think he might not be well enough to run much longer. He rattled off into nothingness this morning. First debate is scheduled for 9/29.

  12. Rapunzel says:

That video comparing shooting black folks to choking at golf is… insane.

  13. Rapunzel says:

Oh, and Hector Projector definitely had a stroke, or strokes, mini or full. Accusing Biden of having had strokes is the clincher. He always says others are guilty of his sins.

  14. JennyJenny says:

That top photo looks like he’s almost doing ‘black face’.
Why he thinks he’s looks good in all the spectrums of Orange baffles me…

  15. Ummm says:

Not voting for EITHER of the senile old men propped up for this election, no matter how many rabid zealots on both sides try to convince me otherwise.

    • B n A fn says:

Who is trying to convince you to vote? If you don’t vote you have no say. Have a great day and don’t complain for the next four year, what you have to say don’t matter.

      • Ummm says:

If you honestly believe either of these propped up puppets represent what Americans truly have to say, there’s no convincing you otherwise.

    • sassafras says:

How about voting for Kamala as the president in waiting for a “senile old man” rather than Pence? Unless you’re a troll. Which you probably are, saying crap like that.

      • Kkat says:

        Its a troll.
only a moron would think Biden/Kamala would be worse than the Orange shit stain and Mother’s husband

    • Tiffany :) says:

The reality is that one of these men will be president. You need to accept that and vote for the less harmful one.

    • vertes says:

I’ll always vote, even if the options aren’t my preferred choices. Unless I vote, I have no right to complain about any results. You could say that I vote to preserve my right to bitch.

    • Jen says:

I hope you are trolling and not serious. If you are serious, I feel sorry for you that you are that ignorant. People are actually dying because of this president’s actions. You can’t equate Trump with Biden.

    • blacktoypoodle says:

The president is responsible for the appointment of approximately 4,000 people. Heads of departments and their juniors. Secretary of State, Secretary of the Interior, Secretary of Health and Human Services, etc etc. The Environmental Protection Agency. Plus Supreme Court judges. Consider this in your decision.
When Trump moved into the White House he didn’t know he had to hire 1,000’s of staffers. He thought the people who worked for the previous president would work for him. Every normal president uses the time between the election and inauguration to line up staff to take over on day 1.
You are voting for more than one man. You are voting for a team. You are voting for America. You are voting for us.

    • emmy says:

Susan Sarandon, is that you? Still being stupid about this I see.

    • Jerusha says:

Still bitter you can’t vote for senile old Bernie?

  16. Aimee says:

Bags of soup? What the hell is he talking about???? Can anyone confirm that “protesters” are throwing bags of soup at cops???

  17. Weezer says:

He is actually in our little NC town speaking right now…

  18. Daffodilfield says:

I’ve just realised that Trump stopped coloring his hair. Is it to look more presidential (won’t work) for the next round of elections? Or is he actually following social distancing guide lines (nah)?

  19. Valerie says:

“Your favourite president, me” LOL. But Biden should take a drug test.

  20. Duchess of Corolla says:

Shitler is a perfect candidate for strokes, so I would definitely believe this report. Unfortunately, even small strokes can lead to significant cognitive damage. He wasn’t working with a full deck to begin with, so it is scary that his condition could now be even worse. He could now be more irrational, more confused, in short, even LESS able to handle his job than he was before. Very bad situation.

In short, I hope and pray he is defeated. Soundly.

If, heaven forbid, he is re-elected, I pray the Democrats win the Senate. At least the orange menace could be contained if both houses of Congress are run by same people.
