All I can think of when going through the Vanessa Kirby’s slideshow is “stop holding hands and standing that close together.” Masks are not enough and the pandemic’s far from over.

The cat who ate the watermelon!!!! My cats don’t like people food, but growing up we had one that would eat bread.

I still can’t get over Lady Gaga’s white hair/orange skin combo for the Oscars. Such an odd choice.

OT maybe? I DON’T think we’ll be around in 2021, let alone 2024. I’m in Northern CA, close to the fire, but not too close, heavy smoke & dark orange sky. Temps “only’ in the high 90’s. Two mature kitties that refuse to be picked up so I don’t know how the hell we’ll get them into carriers if we have to evacuate. Dear hubby TOTALLY freaking out, not only because of the reality but he also has several severe mental illnesses. He’s doing his very best & so am I. But my very best is laying in bed all day reading CB & looking at Steve Carell pics. At least for now I’m not eating much so it’s easier to to stay on my low-FODMAP elimination diet for my IBS, lol.

I’m so scared right now! I know how lucky I am. I only have one family member so far affected by the ‘rona; my hubby & furbabies are safe so far, we have food & love each other fiercely. PG&E hasn’t turned off the power yet either.

The fat orange f*ck is wreaking an apocalyptic havoc on all we know & love.

Thank you to EVERYONE here, Kaiser your royalty coverage is my lifeline right now.

    Everyone, please pray.

I hope you stay safe!! Im down in Lakewood California right now but lived for 6 years in Walnut creek. I really hope they don’t turn your electricity off <3

I agree that the royalty coverage here is a lifeline. I devour all of it. The more the better!

East Bay here. 10:30am and feels dark as night from inside the house. Go outside and the sky is a blood orange glow. But really I just came here to say that I hope we are around in 2024 to see these new guidelines for the Oscars. Until them, I’m going to avoid all comment sections on this topic any where besides CB. I don’t need that stress in my life.

      • ravynrobyn says:

@ BETTYROSE-nice to know a fellow CB is near me! Gonna read about the new Oscar stuff for a nice distraction. Take care 💕💕💕

    • Lady D says:

@ravynrobyn, cover your cats with a blanket, not a towel and pick them up that way. They will panic when covered and it’s too easy for them to escape a towel, so use a blanket. It will be more difficult to get them if the first attempt fails. Or start now by putting their favourite treat inside a cage. They will get comfortable going in and out and it will be way less traumatic for them if they’ve been in one before. It should take about ten days for your kitties to be okay inside it. Whatever you do, don’t close the door on them while they are in the cage until the day they actually have to evacuate.
p.s., I really hope those fires don’t last another ten days, and it’s unnecessary to move. Good luck.

    • MrsBanjo says:

I’m in Sacramento and completely understand. Every day is a new level of “what now” with the fires. Smoke and ash everywhere. Getting my pets and kids out safely should the need arise is constantly on my mind.

      • ravynrobyn says:

@ MRSBANJO-thanks! Fortunately I only have furbabies, I imagine kids MAY be a little easier to get out of the house? What do I know, lol.
Take care and good luck. 🙏

We’re in So Cal-I feel for you. It’s so scary to live through yet another thing that feels overwhelming and hopeless. I’m praying for you, your hubby and your kitties.

Haha the action shot of the cat with the broccoli in its mouth!

  5. Nanny to the Rescue says:

I think AMPAS has the right idea, but not sure if the method is correct.

    • bettyrose says:

What do you mean about the method? What I like about this method is there’s a four year window for filmmakers to begin including under represented groups in roles that could just as easily be written for non-white actors. It’s also good encouragement to choose projects that tell different kinds of stories than the usual Hollywood fare.

      • Mika says:

The issue is that all the movies that have won the Best Picture Oscar in the last ten years meet all the new standards (and yes, that does include films like the Irishman, 1917 and Green Book), and about 100% of all best picture nominees would have qualified too. Which is to say, this is the illudion of change, not actual change – under the new standards, The Help or Driving Miss Davies would still qualify.

  6. LOL says:

Creepy smug men like Brad Pitt is what Oscars are all about.

  7. Delphine says:

Kirstie Alley flipped out and showed her ass over the Academy’s announcement today.

    • Kkat says:

Ha I was reading a article in the L.A Times about her tweets.

Alley has since deleted her original tweet, which called the new guidelines “a disgrace to artists everywhere.”

“[C]an you imagine telling Picasso what had to be in his … paintings,” Alley wrote in the tweet, which has been immortalized in screenshots. “You people have lost your minds. Control artists, control individual thought .. OSCAR ORWELL.”

And all I can think about when she is talking about mind control is that she is in the damned $cientology cult lol

      • Don't Trust the B in Comment 23 says:

Can you imagine bitching this hard because someone tells you to include people with different life experiences from yours in your art that is ideally meant to have a broad appeal?

“Black people and gays in my film? Why, never!”

        LMAO! These people are ridiculous.

  8. Don't Trust the B in Comment 23 says:

Ew @ that pic. Celebitchy is intentionally triggering its poor comment section. What did we do wrong?!?!

    “starting in the 2024 season.”

Oh, so never, then. Ok. Cool.
