Juliette Lewis on ex Brad Pitt: he’s “a fine man” & “total super father”

Juliette Lewis has had a few little projects to promote lately, so she’s been doing some media here and there. Of course, interviewers have been asking her about her relationship with Brad Pitt, seeing as how that relationship was his first big media spectacle/relationship. Last month, Juliette told a journalist that she and Brad used to smoke pot all the time when they were going out (shocking), which ended up being the first of many “Brad’s Reefer Madness” stories throughout the month of August.

Now Juliette has given one of those “Five Questions for…” interviews to People Magazine. As you can imagine, no one really cares what Juliette has to say about music (“I’m a disco lover”) or playing tough girls (“it’s really hard for me to be a bully”). The first question Juliette was asked was about Brad, of course. Juliette’s totally nice about it, though:

Juliette Lewis has played a range of roles: From hometown girl in What’s Eating Gilbert Grape opposite Johnny Depp to a brutal serial murder in Natural Born Killers – but she also takes center stage in her own rock band. Now Lewis, 36, is back with new album Terra Incognita, a mix of bluesy, brash and sexy tunes, out Tuesday.

She thinks her ex-boyfriend Brad Pitt is a super dad:
“When I run into him it’s like running into an old comrade,” she says. “Good vibes. He’s grown into a fine man and father. Total super father. It’s pretty impressive. Their family unit is inspiring.” And though she’d love to have babies of her own, she says she needs to find a steady fellow first. “At this point I don’t envision having children by myself.”

She loves extreme fashion
Currently taking inspiration from Tina Turner and David Bowie, Lewis loves to piece together “high-heeled boots, sequined- or jewel-encrusted shoulders on a jacket, or a skirt with boots,” she says. “Things that wouldn’t normally go together. In the beginning it was about wearing a T-shirt over a bikini and knee pads. But I want something that is a little bit more sophisticated these days.”

She avoids TV – because it can be so good!
Recently catching an episode of the Lifetime show Gay, Straight or Taken?, the singer/actress says, “This is why I don’t watch TV, because I would just sit there. I love this show. It’s cute even thought it’s filled with stereotypes.”

She’s obsessed with ‘YMCA’
“I’m a disco lover,” she says. “If I want to feel good that’s my happy place. ‘YMCA’ changed my life. I love it so much that I had my band learn it and we did a bluesy cover of it.”

She’s not as tough as she seems
“I know because of Natural Born Killers people think I’m all scary and stuff, but it’s really hard for me to be a bully.” But, she says, she was “such a bully” for her role in Drew Barrymore’s upcoming directorial debut Whip It. Learning to skate roller derby style was a challenging task, she says. “But we all became bad asses comparing bruises. Drew had one about eight inches long and five inches wide on the hip. I got some hip knots and a scraped chin, but thankfully no busted teeth. Bruises and scrapes are cool; busted teeth, not cool.”

[From People]

This Whip It movie seems so utterly strange – it’s Drew Barrymore’s directorial debut (and she stars) and the plot, according to IMDB is: “In Bodeen, Texas, an indie-rock loving misfit finds a way of dealing with her small-town misery after she discovers a roller derby league in nearby Austin.” The cast is mainly female (for which I applaud Drew), and I think Ellen Page is the lead. In addition to Juliette and Drew, the cast included Kristen Wiig, Marcia Gay Harden and Jimmy Fallon. So utterly weird. Just like Juliette.

The freak-a-zoid Scientology stuff aside, Juliette seems pretty damned cool.

  2. ... says:

I’m sure Brad is a great man and a wonderful father also.

  3. Praise St. Angie! says:

    BiggieShortie, I second that.

  4. DonnaInMichigan says:

She must of been HIGH when she was doing this interview.

Pitt isn’t a great man nor is he a great father.

A parent puts their kids needs first..something that Jolie or Pitt know nothing about.

  5. Roma says:

The preview for Whip It looked awesome, well, to me. My bf said it look “retarded”.

  6. fizXgirl314 says:

she’s kind of cool in a crazy sort of way… but how would she know about Pitt’s fatherhood tendencies? they haven’t sired offsprints together as far as i know…?

  7. mila says:

I don’t like her as an actress but I love how she doesn’t give a damn about conventional beauty/fashion standards. Not unlike Tilda Swinton but less annoying and pretentious

  8. Anak says:

Yes, excellent father… Pitt-potty-head-drunk running all over the world without giving the kids a HOME, SCHOOL, FRIENDS, etc. I’ve discovered the reason Pitt-potty-head-drunk is always using shadows! He is always high!

  9. Firestarter says:

Sorry, but how does anyone know what kind of a parent anyone is unless they live with those people. Sure, people may seem great on the surface, but behind the scenes what do we know except from photo ops, that is not to say that Pitt may or may not be the best darn dad around. In either case, the only people who know Pitt’s parenting skills are his kids, and time will tell how great he was when they grow up.

  10. Neelyo says:

Thank you Firestarter. It’s frustrating to see posts on how good a parent such and such celebrity is based on either a reality show, US magazine or the poster’s own prejudices towards the celebrity. We don’t know how they are as parents and unless I end up meeting their offspring, I don’t really care. It is my firm belief that most celebrities should be sterilized.

  11. Iggles says:

I can’t believe that she’s only 36! She’s been around for ages. I thought she was in her 40s…

  12. cee says:

SHe is a smart woman and she gets it with Brad. X never will because she is missing that chip.

  13. danielle says:

Well- she said she’s bumped into Pitt, so she might be basing it on that. She does seem way cool – like that I’ve never heard her bash anyone. Take notes Gwynnie – the chickie in the awful outfits can show you what class really looks like!

  14. Trillion says:

I thought that was Adam Ant there for a sec.

  15. Ria says:

Why why does she keep bringing him up? Everyone jumps on JA when she talks about him, but NO ONE is saying anything when this woman talks about him. What’s the difference?

  16. Trillion says:

Ria, read the second sentence in the post and you”ll get your answer.

  17. Neelyo says:

Trillion you’re right, she does look like Adam Ant.

  18. Katyusha says:

Kaiser, “Whip it!” is in the same quirky vein as “Juneau”.

I can’t wait for this movie, but maybe that’s because I played roller derby, and one of my old team mates is in this movie, playing a deaf girl haha

I understand this may not appeal to everyone, but us rollergirls can’t flippin wait!

  19. ... says:

Everyone who has come in contact with Brad or Angelina always praise them beyond belief. Okay maybe there’s a few x fans who won’t accept that he’s moved on but the majority love the JP. Even x said that he didn’t cheat but she’s also a liar I suppose along with her bestest friends ever?

  20. Hieronymus Grex says:

I stopped watching her movies after finding out she’s second generation Scientologist.

Drew’s closet door is starting to open I think though.

  21. Kevin says:

I sat through a free concert on TV of her band. Very very hard to listen to. She surrounds herself with good musicians, but she sucks out loud on vocals. Why do these people not take lessons to learn how to sing? Tiger Woods is the best golfer in the world and guess what? He still takes lessons. This goes double for that twat Heidi.

  22. asiont says:

I adore her, she’s great in everything she does

  23. Amber Reese says:

I agree. So glad that I found this site on Google 🙂 I’m going to add it to my favorites now.
