Francia Raisa got taunted and boxed in on the 405 by the Trump caravan

I’ll be honest, I’m not even following our current president right now. I can’t think of a single thing he could do that would change my mind about him so where he goes and what he says has little impact on me. That’s how I’m justifying not knowing that he arrived in my state on Sunday. I would say I don’t know why he bothered to come here, but then I saw this:

I have no idea who these people are. I know there are sections of Trump supporters in this state but I never would have guessed there were that many MAGAs willing to sit on a street corner and shout at his motorcade like that. I am – stunned. And the Trump crowd was apparently as well-behaved as they are everywhere else. Grown-ish actress, Francia Raisa, was driving on the 405 freeway when she said part of the Trump rally fleet boxed her in , made gestures towards her, pointing and laughing, and prevented her from going around them. She was fearful for safety and said she was lucky she didn’t crash:

In the clip, Francia said:

I was just on the 405 and I got stuck in that stupid Trump rally and they f–king boxed me in and they’re pointing at me and laughing at me saying, ‘Haha.’ And I literally almost crashed because they wouldn’t let me out. I was trying to go around it and they literally all stopped and boxed me on the f**king freeway when all I wanted to do was go around. And they were just being so violent and I could have crashed, I could have f**king crashed. It was so dangerous and I just don’t understand why that’s the country that you are all supposedly wanting right now. Really? That’s what makes America ‘great? Really? That’s f**ked up, I could have f**king died right now. That was so f**king dangerous. Pointing at me and laughing at a Mexican. That was really f**king scary.

[From Towelroad]

Francia FaceTimed her friend, fellow actress Amber Riley, during the harassment, who said she was significantly freaked out as a result of what she saw over the phone. I’m not setting this up as a joke, you take your life into your own hands every time you take the 405 even on the best days. I remember an Avengers interview in which Chris Evan and Chris Hemsworth were discussing Australia vs. Los Angeles. Hemsworth said surfing with great white sharks was less dangerous than driving on the 405. I don’t think he was kidding either. Having an army of cars manipulating your mobility on any stretch of that freeway, especially if they are jeering and taunting, would shake up even the most seasoned of drivers. You can hear in Francia’s voice how shaken up she is.

This is unconscionable. Cars, while in use, are as deadly as any weapon. However, she was driving too, so had they caused her to crash, she might have hurt someone else in the process. What’s wrong with these monsters? I know the answer, of course, it all comes from the top. So let’s get rid of the top. And let’s do it dramatically. Like in a landslide.

Sure, we can say I meant an election landslide.

Did they recognize her, or did she have a Biden bumper sticker or other identifying marker? Or is it because they saw she’s a WOC? I know this doesn’t matter, I don’t know why I am so curious how they marked her.

We have this on Long Island, and I am telling you it is horrifying. My bff was with me, I was driving her to her brother’s, she was staying with me for a week, she lives in Jersey City. We got caught in this in Commack on LI. It was so horrifying, like I can’t even explain it I really cannot. My friend was so shook up, much worse than me, i think I am somewhat used to it. She isn’t, they don’t do this in Jersey City. She felt like she was surrounded by Nazis. She’s Jewish. I personally liken it to the Taliban gangs on their jeeps. This is why I took the Biden/Harris bumper magnet I bought for my mom off her car. I noticed a big uptick in aggressive dudes behind me in my own car, very angry and aggressive. It took me a while to realize it was my bumper. I don’t want my mom put in any danger.

As for me, mine’s still on. I am ready to die if they want to come at me, but I will tell you I will take one of them out with me. I am so f’ing beyond furious.

You know, once upon a time, I would’ve been worried that Democrats would let these assholes intimidate them and scare them away from the polls, because we do tend to be more non-confrontational, but I don’t see that happening this time around. We’re ALL beyond furious, we know that every progressive policy this country has adopted over the past 50ish years is at stake, and we’re going to vote this fascist piece of shit (and hopefully all his bootlickers in Congress) out of office and into a prison cell.

I live in CA and drive a Prius and occasionally get a rageful idiot honking at me or not letting me pass. It’s so stupid and so dangerous.

      • Surreuzly? says:

I’ve never seen a post w a person describing what I myself have experienced. Giant trucks harassing whilst driving Prius! At one point I had a truck AND a Prius. Did I hassle -myself? Ugh. I had to make light w an absurd visual. But seriously. YES racism & xenophobia have ALWAYS existed in every country in the world. But I”m TIRED of blaming history. HERE and NOW we have leader who fans the flames of bigotry. Made America actively HATE again is what has happened since 2016!

    • AMA1977 says:

I said this on another thread a few weeks back, but this is why I don’t have any yard signs this election cycle. I don’t want to feel like I’m making my family a target of any MAGA rage, sad as that seems (I am in a suburb of Houston.) They just seem to have no low they won’t stoop to, so it’s something I just don’t want to risk. :/

    • sa says:

@Darla, I’m so sorry that’s been happening to you you. I’m also on LI and I am so grateful that I haven’t seen any of that. I heard there were some anti-mask rallies in Mineola, but even though I’m in and around the area all the time, I never saw anything and only ever see the very occasional Trump bumper sticker.

In 2016 I saw a lot of Clinton bumper stickers, but I’m not seeing as much Biden stuff this year. I do wonder if people are just worried about how violent Trump supporters are, because I don’t think there is less support for him.

      • Darla says:

SA, they are having their largest ones in Commack now, by that shopping center where everything converges. I did see that mask protest in Mineola it was trending on Twitter one day. I was like, oh god it can’t be for a good reason. lol

  2. Miranda says:

…I just CANNOT with these fucking people. I’m sick of them and all their Triumph of the White Trash Will bullshit. And I have the worst feeling that they’re not even gonna go away when (yes, I said WHEN. We can do this, people!) he loses. I’m thinking that, whatever the outcome of the election, America might be better off if red states and blue states go their separate ways. The blue states can airlift all the vulnerable minorities out of there and just leave them to their small government theocracy with no taxes and a gun in the hands of every toddler, and we’ll see how long they last.

    • Darla says:

Yes Miranda, this is my plan too! This is what this country needs. Flush the trash! And you know these animals in blue states, like here on LI, they can take their trash asses down to the red states. Live by what you vote for! T hey are all happy to park their asses in a state governed by Cuomo, and the protections that affords them and their daughters. Get out!

      • Miranda says:

We’ll build a wall and make them pay for it! And if we really want to rub their faces in it, we could use Trump Tower to house all the red state refugees.

      • Tara says:

Longtime reader, first time commenter who came to say I agree that it feels like (many) people/parts of Suffolk are rabidly for Trump, and it is horrifying! The idea that anyone supports him boggles my mind. It also brings into clear focus the depths of racism, misogyny, etc. Did you see the Trump parade in Montauk that had fire trucks with Trump banners?! I was born in NYC and moved to Nassau when I was quite young, then moved from Nassau to Suffolk in 2015. Trump lost Nassau, but won Suffolk in 2016…I frequently think that NY should secede and become its own country; all the Republicans (including on LI) can move elsewhere and we can welcome all those who want to flee red states…Honestly, very glad to know that some of you are also on LI. Thank you ❤️

      • Darla says:

Hi Tara! another Long islander, awesome! It feels good knowing you ladies are out here with me!

    • liz says:

VOTE!!! In numbers too big to manipulate.

I grew up on the South Shore of Long Island, in Nassau County. I left, and will never, ever move back (Mom still lives there, so I have to visit sometimes). The level of ignorance and bigotry is astounding and it wasn’t until I left that I realized just how awful it really is.

      • Darla says:

Hi Liz. Do you mind saying where you moved? I am looking to relocate and love to talk to transplanted Long Islanders.

      • paranormalgirl says:

I’m still on Long Island, Nassau County, North Shore (with a place in the Hamptons that my husband came with). I will be relocating to the Exuma Cays in a few months. As bad as Nassau is, Suffolk is actually worse.

      • AMA1977 says:

Ugh, I was born there (we moved when I was a tiny baby) and my lone cousin who is still there is the BIGGEST MAGA dumbass I have EVER seen. He’s cut off now, but before I decided he wasn’t worth it, there was no having a rational discussion with him. The kind that venerates all police (“Blue Lives Matter”, gag) and excoriates Obama for presenting the Medal of Freedom to celebrities yet sees no problem with 45 presenting it to terrible Rush Limbaugh. Doesn’t understand the difference between an OPINION piece and an actual news article. I could go on and on. Confederate-flag loving, “All Lives Matter”-spewing, proud of his ignorance trash. Just a product of the people surrounding him who has never taken the time or trouble to open his mind a crack. Bethpage, LI, for those who are curious…

      • Darla says:

Paranormal girl, really! The Bahamas? are you doing it for one of those year long work from the beach initiatives? Or perm? Darn, I would love to know you Long Island girls!

Yes, Suffolk is way worse, I swear to God it is the Alabama of NY State. I hate it. I have for a long time now, but it did take me years to realize it. My brothers keep having kids, and my mom is elderly now, and it’s the only reason i haven’t fled. I work from home and can go anywhere. I am at the point where I am going just going to take my mom with me.

      • Darla says:

HI Ama, yeah I know Bethpage well, and actually one of my two Maga SIL’s is from there. I am so jealous of all of you who left, but it’s also really inspiring and just what I need to hear about.

      • liz says:

@Darla – LOL. Not far. I’ve been in Manhattan for the last 20 years. That was after time in Massachusetts and Seattle, WA. My siblings both moved to Atlanta (my brother’s wife grew up there, he moved so they could be near her family; my sister found a great job at Emory, so she’s also been in Atlanta for about 15 years).

  3. pottymouth pup says:

the irony/hypocrisy here (because with the Trump supporters/GOP, hypocrisy is key) is that the RW has complained miserably when the left blocks traffic, even if they’ve been granted permission to protest in the street, and has been known to intentionally try to hit protesters w/their car. I believe Ron DeSantis signed a bill in Florida that allows them to run down protesters in the street

  4. Teresa says:

Maybe if she had plowed over a few of them Trump would have called her a very fine person?

  5. Noodle says:

The section of the 405 from the Orange County airport to Newport Beach is (and has been) under construction, and is a MESS. Random lane striping that’s inconsistent and hard to see in certain conditions, closed exits, lanes that end unexpectedly… I drive that road often, and I hate it, just on its own. Add to that reckless and distracted drivers, and what a nightmare. I feel bad for her.

  6. MF1 says:

The 405 really is dangerous. I used commute on it daily for over a year, and I can’t even count the number of time I almost got in an accident.

I live in the LA area and I’ve been seeing a lot of cars like this. They drive around, flying their HEIL TRUMP flags, and honk at people. *So obnxious*. I was out for a run a few days ago, and two of them honked at me. I flipped off, and they did NOT like that. There was a lot of yelling and swear. What a bunch of fucking snowflakes.

  7. SpankyB says:

As someone said on Twitter yesterday, the large cities and the Bay Area are blue, the rest of the state is Texas.

    • AMA1977 says:

Hey, now, Texas isn’t all “Texas.” I’m in Harris County, one of the most reliably blue large counties in the country. We are shattering early voting records in my county daily. Yes, TX has traditionally been red nationally, but the cities are blue as blue can be, and our numbers are growing. Texas was purple the last couple of national elections, trending bluer ever year. We’re in same same boat you’re in.

    • Noodle says:

Orange County and San Diego can run pretty red, due to the wealth and military presence. The inland empire (Riverside, San Bernardino) can also run red, a lot of which is dependent on demographics. I used to live in the Inland Empire (high desert), and the number of poor, racist white folks who supported militias was astounding. Now that I am in Orange County, I am shocked at the number of Trump supporters, but it is mostly the wealthy wanting to have a crony in the White House who lowers their taxes. They don’t care about social justice or equity as long as they maintain their wealth.

  8. Phyllis says:

These m/f-ers…I’m so sick of all this!! My daughter wants to put Biden/Harris signs in our yard and on our car and I’m nervous it would be inviting vandalism.

I noticed in the video there was a huge section of Armenian flags. We were in LA last weekend visiting my stepson (masked, socially distanced, oc). On our way through town, we got stuck in protest traffic caused by the Armenian community protesting a war with Azerbaijan that has recently intensified. Apparently Azerbaijan is being backed by Erdogan and the Turkish government. We all know trump LOVES these dictator/strongman types of leaders and probably allows Turkey to get away with so much, so WHY on earth were there people at this protest in MAGA gear? Why were there so many Armenians at this maga rally? Can someone help me understand why are Armenians supporting Trump who couldn’t give two sh*&s about them and may be supporting a war effort against their beloved motherland?

    • Oddsnends says:

Trump joined with Macron and Putin to call for a cessation of hostilities. He’s also asked Turkey to step back.
He’s also scheduled a meeting between Armenian and Azerbaijani on Friday at the White House. I think he’ll try to broker some sort of deal to encourage the Azerbaijani to back off. That seems to be more his style than sanctions. We’ll see.

  9. Nina says:

The most scared I’ve ever been was on the 405. I was coming down the hill towards Sherman Oaks and just around a blind curve in the road, someone was STOPPED DEAD in the far right lane. Not the shoulder. The lane. There was too much traffic for me to switch lanes so I had to break and barely was able to stop in time. At that point, I was stuck behind him because everyone was going so fast and coming down of the hill and around the curve; it wasn’t safe to pull into traffic and it wasn’t safe to sit there. I was certain that someone would come up behind me and not be able to stop in time. I was shaking and sobbing, I was so scared. Eventually, the driver of the other car stood up — HE HAD BEEN LYING ON THE GROUND IN FRONT OF HIS CAR LOOKING UNDERNEATH IT — got in his car and drove off.

So I don’t drive on the 405 anymore unless I absolutely cannot help it. Even when my husband is driving, I tend to close my eyes because people are fools on that freeway.

I can’t even imagine how much worse it is with a bunch of MAGA racists driving around terrorizing people. Just thinking about it stresses me out. Poor Francia. 🙁

  10. Zaya says:

In the last six years or so, I have never been on the 405 driving from la to OC (or vice versa) and not see at least one accident.
