Jeff Bridges announces that he has lymphoma and is in treatment

Beloved actor, devoted husband and father and all-around standup guy, Jeff Bridges, 70, has announced that he has lymphoma and is in treatment for it. He has not specified whether he has Hodgkin’s or non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. Here are Jeff’s tweets about it. He wrote that he has a great team of doctors and that the prognosis is good. His last tweet was just five days ago and he seemed to be posting every few days before that.

Can 2020 just fast forward to a time when everything is ok and the Dude is healthy? We never hear a bad word about Jeff Bridges, and he’s usually making headlines for gushing about his wife. (Plus he voted for Hillary like every decent person.)

Let’s talk about the stuff Jeff is promoting because we didn’t cover it at the time. (He’s so uncontroversial that people don’t typically comment, you know?) He has a new line of eco-friendly guitars with Breedlove which are made from sustainable wood. He also has a new book out with his daughter, Isabelle, called Daddy Daughter Day. Jeff illustrated the book and wrote it in cursive and Isabelle wrote it based on her experiences with Jeff growing up. They did an interview on Today which is linked below. Jeff said he wrote it in cursive because he loves handwriting and wants to encourage the use of cursive! Isabelle said when her dad was away when she was little he would call her and ask her to imagine they were meeting up in a tree or flying away together in their dreams. When she explained that part Jeff looked so proud and it was adorable!

A portion of proceeds from the book will go to No Kid Hungry, a cause which Jeff has been involved with for years. He told Today it’s important, especially now, because so many children get their nutrition from school lunches. Jeff also talked about a lullaby that’s been in his family for years. You can learn about the history of that and hear Jeff sing it on their website, DaddyDaughterDay.com.

Our thoughts are with Jeff during his treatment. F-ck cancer.

The Daddy-Daughter stuff is so sweet. Wishing him strength during treatment. My mom had Hodgkin’s years ago and it was considered the less serious one. And it was for her, she didn’t even need chemo. But I have known two people with pretty advanced non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma who have been in remission for years. Treatment has come so far.

I love this guy. I hope he gets well soon.

Stupid 2020. I wish only positive vibes to Jeff during his treatment, and he seems surrounded by good doctors and a strong family.

I’m sitting over here imagining what it’d be like to have the Dude as a dad and growing up with that. Not to say my own dad was not amazing, but in a different way.

The night before my brother’s wedding, I was in a crowded, noisy restaurant with my mom and a bunch of cousins when my brother called in the middle of a panic attack. I got up from the table and tried to rush outside so I could hear him, as I careened through the restaurant, dodging waiters with trays, I didn’t see the man stand and step away from his table until I crashed right into him. Jeff Bridges could not have been more charming and sweet as I apologized profusely and explained. He took the phone from me and said: “Chill, dude, all will be fine.” to my brother, smiled, bowed to me, and wished me a good evening. All while one of his daughters laughed at the whole thing. I wish this wonderful man all the best. 2020, knock it the Hell off.

First of all, I hope he gets better soon. Illness like this are stressful without covid.

Second of all, I LOVE cursive too! I write in cursive most of the time (because it’s pretty mostly. I can’t remember any teachers insisting on it).

Anyhow I will definitely comment on every Jeff Bridges article if it means more Jeff Bridges articles. My mama is a big fan and shared films like Fisher King with me when I was growing up. (Shoutout to Robin Williams who is another treasure). The Big Lebowski is one of the handful films I love so much I’ve watched multiple times. My neighbour even gave me the DVD.

Cursive is such a lost art. Schools do not promote it anymore because they think we have computers so why bother? My kids went to Catholic school and they promoted cursive writing in the third grade. None of the public schools in our area teaches this.

What a great guy, I wasn’t aware of half the stuff he’s been doing (the downside of not being controversial in 2020) and we need the people like this. Wishing him all the best.

I love Jeff Bridges so much. I’m wishing him a swift recovery and great health. I can’t help but throw this in but he’s forever sexy too.

I’ve nevee seen The Big Lebowski (I’ve been thinking recently that I should make that happen), but I’ve liked Jeff Bridges since I saw Starman as a child. I wish him well and a speedy recovery.

You NEED to see it. Probably more than once. It’s so weird, but so funny. Plus, John Goodman!

Wishing Jeff all the best. 2020 just keeps managing to outdo itself, huh?

My 11 yr old son is on the spectrum and also has Developmental Coordination Disorder. He has never been able to hold a pencil in the proper tripod grip. (He basically fists the pencil) When he was in grade 2, his teacher pointed him towards cursive and he’s never looked back. He writes beautifully. His teachers have used him to teach his classmates through the years. Wishing Dude a quick recovery. The world needs more people like him. ❤

I get him very confused with Kurt Russell these days, but he seems like a really great guy. Get well soon!

  16. Roo says:

I love him. He’s always been a favorite. A friend of mine lives in his community and says that he is a very stand-up man. Best of luck to him. I’m really rooting for a full recovery.

I love Jeff Bridges, he’s a good guy. Get well soon, Jeff.

My husband hasn’t had a haircut since January and was complaining that he’s looking like a hippie. I told him he looks like Jeff Bridges, he asked if that was good or bad, I said ” Yeah, I’m not mad”.

  18. paranormalgirl says:

Such a wonderful, kind, warm, and loving man. I wish him the best of treatment and a solid recovery.

  19. Dizzy says:

I’m praying for him. He’s been a crush since the seventies. There are some movies of his that I will watch over and over again. The Big Lebowski, the Fisher King, and many more.
I want him to live to be an eccentric 100 year old. Fork 2020.

  20. ennie says:

I fell for his sexiness in The Fabulous Baker Brothers.
I rooted for the film couple to make it, Jeff Bridges and Michelle Pfeiffer.
    Wish him the best.

He lives in Montecito and besides acting has a band. I saw him with Jackson Browne and David Crosby at the Arlington in SB, a beautiful Spanish style movie theatre from the 1920’s. One of his daughters also performed that evening. He is supposed to be a great guy and really liked locally. Hope he beats this thing!

Wishing Jeff a smooth path to recovery.

Not the Dude 🙁 When Eddie Van Halen passed, I thought “that’s horrible and my thoughts are with his family, but maybe that’s it. No more bad news.” And then this happens. My thoughts and best wishes for recovery are with him and his family. We need you Jeff!
