Donald Trump seethed his way through a trip to Arlington, his first event in five days

United States President Donald J. Trump and First lady Melania Trump participate in a National Veterans Day Observance

Donald Trump had not been on camera in five days before yesterday. He was photographed, at a distance, at his golf club over the weekend, but the only “public statements” he made in five days’ time was through a series of unhinged tweets. I still like to imagine him in his baby bunker, panicking and screaming into the MAGA abyss. Anyway, he finally left his suckbaby bunker and made a public appearance at Arlington for Veterans Day. He arrived late, and he looked like he was seething his way through the ceremony to honor the fallen. I’m not sure why he even bothered, especially considering that he thinks people who serve their country in uniform are losers and suckers.

I didn’t know this until people discussed it on Twitter, but even the “president” isn’t supposed to salute if he or she never served in uniform. Trump should have simply put his hand over his heart, like Mother’s Husband did.

Incidentally, this story came out on Veterans Day – the losing Trump campaign has, obviously, filed a bunch of nuisance lawsuits in various states won by Joe Biden. Trump’s lawyers have submitted lists of who they say are fake voters, or illegal voters. Many of the names on those lists are from active military personnel or their spouses.

A letter sent Nov. 5 on behalf of President Donald Trump’s reelection campaign to Attorney General William Barr alleges that 3,062 voters who do not live in the state of Nevada “improperly cast” absentee ballots in the 2020 election. But the list that accompanies the letter of those accused of “criminal voter fraud” contains hundreds of overseas military post office boxes and more than 1,000 locations where military personnel are stationed, such as Minot, North Dakota; Edwards and Fort Irwin, California; Hill Air Force Base, Utah; Carlisle, Pennsylvania; and Yuma, Arizona.

To at least one military spouse whose residences of Henderson, Nevada, and Davis, California, are listed — with their specific nine-digit ZIP codes (exact addresses are not included) — finding herself and her husband, an Air Force major, on the list was “shocking.”

“To see my integrity challenged, along with other members of the military to be challenged in this way, it is a shock. And to be potentially disenfranchised because of these actions, that’s not OK,” said Amy Rose, who votes absentee and claims Henderson as her home while the couple is stationed in California.

The list contains at least 130 Army Post Office (APO) addresses, nine Fleet Post Office (FPO) addresses and 16 Diplomatic Post Office (DPO) addresses. It also contains hundreds of addresses from coast to coast, as well as Alaska and Hawaii, in cities known to have large military populations. By law, military voters may vote absentee in their home of record or choose to register to vote in the state in which they reside. In the 2016 presidential election, 3,047 uniformed service members voted in Nevada, according to the Election Administration and Voting Survey.

[From Military.com]

To be fair, all of those military peeps and their spouses already know that they’re suckers and losers to Donald Trump. Why wouldn’t he also try to negate their votes? It’s absolutely insane to see the kind of bullsh-t Republicans will put up with. This should be the Democratic Party’s ad for the next four years.

It will always always will baffle me how any human being would vote for this yo bea president. To be fecking anything really. Like HOW????

    • Sarah says:

White supremacy is one hell of a drug.

    • Flamingo says:

The claim in my circle is that they are fiscally conservative and their 401ks were just growing like a sunflower in July under Trump pre Covid. He’s just such a great businessman and all. Or abortion. Those are basically the two options. My husband is a doctor and you’d be disgusted to know how many doctors are against abortion.

      • Sarah says:

Circling in for Trump in your ballot in 2020 under the guise of your investments or stance on abortion is still a rubber stamp on white supremacy. No wiggle room on that.

      • MsIam says:

Wow, that 240k dead doesn’t move them at all? I guess that’s when they pivot to look at their quarterly 401k statements huh?

      • (TheOG) Jan90067 says:

Over 240K dead, over 11M infected (with NO end in sight), and children STILL in cages, with 666 children with almost NO WAY of being reunited with there parents (yes, that IS the number they released! What a coincidence, right??). But MONEY!!! ABORTION!!! F*&^% THEM ALL!

      • Traveler says:

It makes me sick thinking that there are doctors who get into their profession with only dollar signs as motivation. Death and suffering of others be damned.

  2. atorontogal says:

Did you see Melania walking with a soldier not her husband?! Rather telling IMO.

    • L says:

Haha o said the same to my husband! She was cozying up to the tall young man in a uniform!

    • (TheOG) Jan90067 says:

You can bet she already has the fully-funded (post-nup renegotiated) money tucked into an offshore account (probably in her son or parents’ names), she is mostly packed, and she will be out of there like a bat out of hell. UNLESS, she renegotiates for MORE to stick with him thru the SDNY trials, although, I think SDNY will attach all properties and bank accounts (they KNOW about) with liens for back taxes and what not.

While she is too old to be someone’s trophy wife again (not many unmarried Murdocks out there, and the others want the younger ones), she will be another Ivana (and Madonna!), and buy herself younger and younger boy toys.

      • Chicago says:

Nope, she is not going anywhere. Why, there’s no need for it. Why should she make herself uncomfortable in any way when things are exactly as she likes them? They are rich enough to never see each other for weeks even while staying in the same place. He will be busy ranting on his own cable TV channel. She will be spending time in her private spa, or with her son, sister and parents (she bought them an apartment at the Trump tower). And where would she go if she divorces him? It’s not like she has created a circle of good friends and coworkers to turn to have a normal life. Trump family and her own are all she has. Besides, as a widow she oils be entitled to much more than a divorcée.
Melania is not going anywhere, she has demonstrated time and again that is not how she plays.

      • Anna says:

@Chicago Agree with you on this. And on top of all that, who would she be without him? I say that meaning, her money and name and notoriety are all in connection to this family and the news they generate. If she were divorced, she’d be “alone” and not privy to all of the connections in the same way.

      • Bread and Circuses says:

Melania’s gorgeous, and she now has a veneer of celebrity that she didn’t have before. I think she could find interested parties for a second marriage; not every rich old guy wants to contend with a 25-year-old’s antics.

That said, I think she’s in it until the money runs out. She knows who she married; I don’t think she’s uncomfortable with what she signed up for.

  3. Seraphina says:

I have it before, I vote blue and red and do not like political parties, but damn if this hasn’t made me think of being blue forever.
It rained yesterday on Toddler Trump and I loved it even more, having to go do his duty while getting dumped on from above.
A great Op Ed piece in the Washington Post by John Bolton (Toddler’s own former security adviser) and he called out Trump and “the republican who coddle him”. Effing Hilarious. Yes, preach!

    • Digital Unicorn says:

Esp as he HATES being in the rain as it messes with his hair.

      • Seraphina says:

I was impressed it did not fall with all that “volume” that was teased into it. The heat escaping from his head due to how irate he is and the rain made for a perfect storm on teased hair.

      • Soupie says:

No kidding. Look at what he did to his hair (rear view). Can’t believe he left the house with it looking like that.

      • whatWHAT? says:

yeah, Soupie, I was going to say…you can see how bald he really is from the back.

        *points and laughs*

(note: I don’t think being bald is anything to be ashamed of, but this person tries SO HARD to appear “manly” and being bald is one of the things he tries so hard NOT to be, so…hahahahaha!)

PS – he and his enablers are also trying to claim that a bunch of dead people voted in PA and the election officials there were like “I can’t believe we have to say this, but yes…with everything else going on, we DID check and none of those people voted in PA after they died”.

      • minx says:

And somebody has been doing a lot of stress eating 😂.

      • Seraphina says:

@Minx, thank you for the hearty laugh your comment gave me!

      • Bevvie says:

My husband wondered what he uses to keep that awful hair from drooping and I wondered how he keeps that orange clay from running down his face in the rain.

      • (TheOG) Jan90067 says:

You KNOW he emptied 2-3 cans of hairspray onto that rat’s nest on his head. I was SHOCKED to see Melanoma under an umbrella and he wasn’t. Usually he uses one ONLY for himself and literally leaves his wife and son in the elements lol.

      • Christin says:

Gotta admit – I would be curious to know the brand he uses. Keeping those cotton candy swirls from melting in the rain is some serious humidity-proof holding power!

    • Veronica S. says:

I used to ticket split too depending on the candidate, but I’ve almost completely switched my vote to Democrat only. The party has huge issues we’ll need to address, but we have to stop pretending the current Republican party is anything less than a fascist regime. We can and must vote them out over and over again, rejecting their damaged vision of America, in order to save it.

  4. Esmom says:

I can’t think of a more disingenuous move than this trip yesterday. And of course Trump has no clue. Clearly it was done to honor the “norms” of the office. Funny how selective they can be depending on how following said norms will play with the deplorables. F them all.

  5. Chris says:

He continues to show us who he is. I think it’s obvious he hates anyone who isn’t a rich white man and even then they MUST fawn over him. I don’t believe for a second he likes or respects military members. Questioning the absentee ballots of military members is not a good look dude.

  6. Snuffles says:

Anyone see that video of a stretcher being rushed into the White House yesterday?

    https://twitter.com/alita007/status/1326711475499458560?s=21

  7. Erin says:

I’m glad he saluted and hopefully pissed off the military even more, so he won’t be successful with whatever pathetic coup he’s attempting. The GOP is truly a soulless, morally devoid death vacuum.

    • Liz version 700 says:

That was so gratifying when the military ballots came in and broke for Biden. I wonder, was it the bounties on their heads that went unaddressed, being called suckers or losers, or him Tweeting operational facts in the middle of actual operations? That salute was so inappropriate.

      • goofpuff says:

And yet his deplorables still support him – showing us what they really care about isn’t the military. They come up with all kinds of excuses and then flat out live in denial.

      • Sara says:

I know, at least for the Marines, that firing Mattis was a part of it. They were NOT happy with that.

  8. Miranda says:

I guess we should just be thankful that he didn’t give them a Nazi salute.

  9. Phillyperson says:

He was also swaying and jerking around, he could not stand still. He is not well.

    • Ponchorella says:

If he would have been closer to the wreath it would have looked like he was trying to slowly hump it with all of the back to front swaying.

Also, thank you for the shot of the back of Shitler’s hair in the rain, lol! I hope he got hairspray in his eyes.

    • Anna says:

      Drugged out of his mind

  10. Marni112 says:

My concern is that while everyone stands around letting Donnie recount ballots and the GOP are too afraid to challenge him, (oh where are the GOP of the 70s who had balls and dealt with Nixon), there is going to be some serious damage done to the US in terms of its democracy ( the devaluing of the election process) and whatever he is doing behind the scenes.I don’t Donnie firing people in the Pentagon is for the hell of it. At present , Donnie is being treated as an out of control toddler when in fact he is the President and a dangerous one at that.

    • Agirlandherdog says:

Don’t believe for a second that the GOP is too afraid to challenge him. Damage to our democracy is exactly *why* the GOP is encouraging his desperation. McConnell wants Biden too busy trying to stop bleeding of our fractured society to undo the damage McConnell’s wrought over the last several years.

  11. Jillian says:

    This bitch is SO ORANGE

  12. Rapunzel says:

I love that they started without him, to uphold tradition. What a disgrace for a President to be late to a Veteran’s Day Event. You know they had to drag him.

  13. Jane says:

Joking about Trump’s latest low and calling him a ‘toddler’ makes light of the fact that he is dangerous, now and well into the future. He poses a serious risk to national security and domestic security as well given his abandonment of responsibility re the pandemic. Only jail or death will curb the threat he poses.

    • Nikki* says:

Yeah, I agree with you, and with Marni112 : he really poses a danger to our democracy. I really don’t think I’ll breathe easy until he’s GONE.

    • Lizzie says:

IDK, threats to sell or give away damaging secrets could get him charged with treason.

  14. Rapunzel says:

Also, those “voter fraud” affidavits contain claims such as. “I saw that the military folks were voting blue, so that must be fraudulent.” Such a bad look, trying to discredit military votes.

    • Becks1 says:

That one was RIDICULOUS. Like is it so hard to understand why the military would vote for Biden, especially compared to Trump “I like people who didn’t get captured”?

      • Rapunzel says:

All the affidavits were ridiculous. “A poll worker called me Karen!” “The poll workers must be liberals… they want to work in Brooklyn!” “This guy looked at me funny!”

And they’re crowing these affidavits are evidence. No, morons, they’re claims. They need to be substantiated. And even if substantiated, they still need to also be relevant. They have to show fraud. These affidavits don’t.

      • whatWHAT? says:

RIGHT? it was stuff like “I was intimidated because of deep stares”…WT actual F?! but armed militias outside are A-OK!

and that crap from one of 45’s lackeys – “a sworn statement IS evidence!” – was laughable. no wonder the judges are like GTH out of my courtroom.

    • Swack says:

Not too mention they have stayed that since there were so many more voters this time around, it must be fraudulent.

    • windyriver says:

These suits sound and are ridiculous but they’re continuing to file them, and it costs a lot to answer/defend against them. Biden’s team are asking for donations once again to their “fight fund”.

      • holly hobby says:

Those suits are going away. Meidas has been running ads shaming the big law firms supporting this Nazi group. Jones Day was publicly shamed. Porter Wright just withdrew their rep. Another firm as well. I’m glad someone is going after the enablers.

  15. Jo73c says:

I just hope his heart holds out until the FBI come for him.

  16. 5678 says:

He touched the wreath like he was an alien touching a boob for the first time.

  17. TIFFANY says:

The fact that he was late….just.

    11/11 at 11am.

    This is significant.

Thank Black Jesus President Elect got it right and will get it right next year as POTUS.

    • Liz version 700 says:

Can you imagine? Going days without even having to think about the president? Not waking up every morning to see if he declared war via Twitter.

      • Lemons says:

I seriously thought this morning…please someone take away the nuclear codes from this man. Change them now.

    • Becks1 says:

My guess is he really didn’t want to go and they basically had to drag him. He was probably watching Fox and Friends or whatever.

      • Seraphina says:

I did not know he was late arriving, but I too agree he must have been dragged. I would love for republican military personnel to weigh on this. Continues to verbally and silently insult veterans and people who are in the military. THAT is who their President is.

    • Nic919 says:

It’s crazy. To show up late after 11 am on Remembrance Day and then he stayed about 6 minutes according to reporters. So disgusting.

      • Digital Unicorn says:

Yeah and he couldn’t get back to the WH fast enough – it was clear by the look on his face he did NOT want to be there.

      • Esmom says:

And he immediately used the footage for a “patriotic” ad. He and his sycophants are sick.

      • Seraphina says:

@DU, yeah the look on his face was a kodak moment for sure and Lord forgive me, makes me feel giddy on the inside.

    • MaryContrary says:

Yes-omg, this was appalling. His total disregard for the meaning, the history, the values that this embodies-horrifying. And on another much more superficial note-he has gained even more weight. He legit waddled in.

      • Tigerlily says:

@Marycontrary IF he actually had Covid19 and they administered tons of prednisone and/or other steroids then that would explain weight gain Or maybe too many hamburders

  18. Leah says:

He shouldn’t even be there after what he called our soldiers, veterans and honored dead. This is shameful.

    69 days until January 20th.

  19. nettie says:

I hope that world leaders like Mexico and Canada are keeping Biden in the loop of any intelligence information they get. I’m sure Trudeau will but I don’t know what Mexico has done. My worry is putting all these incompetent people in charge of positions they are grossly unqualified for. I also worry as to the reason WHY he is doing it. He is endangering the security of North America.

    • GuestWho says:

I suspect it’s as simple as that – he’s endangering the security of North America and his handlers love it.

  20. sunnyn says:

Donny is such a garbage human but also deeply dangerous. He and the Republicans are seeking to weaken democracy in the United States. It has been wild to watch in real time.

As for this photo op, he has been awful to the military his entire term- from insulting gold star families, to his dismissal of those soldiers who died in Niger. Why would anyone expect him to show respect now? Fully yikes. To say nothing of what has been going on this week with disturbing civilian staffing changes made at the Pentagon.

  21. Roo says:

I’m trying really hard not to freak out over him acting like a GIANT baby dictator and all of the republicans going along with it! My friend the other day said “I have to laugh, because if I don’t, I’ll scream.”

I wish I could laugh about this. I think this might be the biggest disgrace to our democracy..ever? And he’s not even DOING anything right now. Just rage tweeting while we all sit here panicked. I’m counting down the days to Jan 20th.

  22. BL says:

What does all that swaying back and forth mean? Does he have a neurological issue ? (aside from the obvious dumbf**kery)

  23. Nina Simone says:

He’s so odious and hideous looking

  24. Valerie says:

You know, Donny, if you concede and get the hell out, you’ll never have to seethe your way through another public event again 🙂

  25. Shannon says:

Your statement about salutes is incorrect. I am a prior military service member for the U.S. Navy. Once you are elected CiC, you can salute. You are now the head of the military, rather you served or not, and military leaders salute. Plain and simple. Obama never served and he also saluted. It’s like when you become president and take the oath, you are “honorarily” enlisted into the military. Incidentally, the oath for president is virtually the same for all officers and enlisted. You support to defend the constitution, which Don The Con is not doing. For that reason alone he shouldn’t salute, but that’s here nor there in this argument.

  26. GuestWithCat says:

Okay, I’m calling it first. We do it to women all the time so time to put the shoe on the other foot: Bump watch. Will it be a large Cheeto or a Big Mac? I don’t think it’s Melania’s. Probably Moscow Mitch’s. Maybe Putin’s?

    • Berlin says:

@GuestWithCat/ I thought that too with his huge stomach sticking out when he was standing there doing his Thorazine rocking. His arms barely fit around his girth. I am betting Putin is the dad and it will be a Big Mac that speaks Russian.

  27. GuestWithCat says:

Oh man I just realized: put him in a diaper and tie a string to him and he is now completely indistinguishable from that balloon version of him they flew over London.

  28. Ann says:

Canadians wear a poppy on Remembrance Day. I thought Americans did too, but it looks like it’s not important in the USA. Whole Foods employees in Canada (owned by Amazon) got told they couldn’t wear the poppy. Well, everybody raised heck and they retracted. I’m just wondering if someone could let me know why it’s not practiced in the USA.

    • Dara says:

@Ann, I’m hardly an expert but here’s my two cents for what it’s worth. I believe the poppy started as a symbol to commemorate the losses suffered during WWI and, not to be callous about 100,000+ dead, but the U.S. simply didn’t suffer in that war the way other countries did. Some here do still wear a poppy, but it’s a fading tradition and not de rigueur the way it is in other places. Also, somewhere along the way, Remembrance Day here got a name change. It’s now Veterans Day. The day has a far less somber tone here in the states than it does elsewhere in the world. While there are still ceremonies recognizing fallen soldiers on the day, it has very much morphed into a way to recognize all veterans, not just those that perished.

      • minx says:

Yes. The elementary schools in my town honor all veterans. Kids can bring parents, grandparents, relatives who served to school on Nov. 11 and there is an assembly where they are applauded and honored.

      • Ann says:

Thanks to all. One of our hockey critics, Don Cherry, got fired for “sounding off” about “you people” in Canada not wearing the poppy. People took at that comment as racist, so he got cancelled. He was a bit of an old rusty guy, but a lot of people were upset. People might disagree with me, but I thought his firing was too harsh.

      • Isa says:

We have veterans standing outside our supermarkets that take donations and if you donate they pass out a poppy.

  29. aquarius64 says:

Frankly I think something more problematic is going on. Trump is going through a serious meltdown from the loss. 75 million plus Americans told him You’re Fired by the ballot. That same message is on the makeshift fence surrounding the WH , along with eviction notice. Most of the world leaders are moving pass him despite State blocking letters to Biden from them.

I think the WH is on su1©id€ watch on him. The staff and the GOP are letting Trump indulge in these stunts to talk him off the ledge. And use him to get 2 GA Senate seats. A Trump that harms himself is not good for the GOP. A national security disaster happening on Trump’s watch ain’t a good look either.

  30. Jan says:

11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month…. rocks up 24 minutes late. Seriously, that man.

  31. Mary says:

    Sad pathetic draft dodger.

  32. EviesMom says:

@ Ann, Don Cherrys sounding off about ‘you people’ was racist and the last in a long stream of racist crap to fall out of his foul mouth. He wasn’t fired because he gave that horrible rant. He was fired because the rant was the last in a sh!t stew that he had been brewing for months and years. Good riddance Mr Cherry!

  33. trashaddict says:

So I’m amazed I have read through the entire comment string and not one mention of baby pence with no coat in the rain! Was he trying to show fake sacrifice? Was it Trump’s punishment for making him do the event? Is he just too dumb to get out of the rain? Let’s hope he doesn’t look up at the sky and drown. What the heck?
