Prince Harry has had a years-long friendship with Joe & Jill Biden, oh no!!

USA - 2016 - Invictus Games in Orlando - Wheelchair Rugby Gold Medal Match

It took several days, but some genius at the Daily Mail finally had the bright idea to look through their archived photos of Prince Harry and the Biden family! Now the Mail has a big story about how awful, how terrible it is that Prince Harry is quite close to Dr. Jill Biden. How political! Such protocol-breaking! I guess those same geniuses didn’t realize that all of the old photos of Harry with Joe and Jill Biden are from his work launching the Invictus Games, and the Bidens’ attendance at the Games and more. How dare he! How dare he be one of the best soft-power diplomats the Windsors ever produced! So political!

Fresh controversy is brewing over Prince Harry’s decision to wade into US politics after his close friendship with Jill Biden emerged. The Prince has a firm friendship with Dr Jill Biden after the pair met seven years ago when he was still representing Britain as a prominent Royal. The Democrat President-elect has even joked that his wife had spent ‘spent too much damn time’ with him. But the cosy relationship adds to concerns in Britain about Harry ‘poking his woke nose’ into US politics – and comes months after he and Meghan released a video urging Americans to ‘reject hate’ and vote in the Presidential election.

That was widely interpreted as an attack on Donald Trump, who responded to the video by saying he was ‘not a fan’ of Meghan and wishing Harry ‘a lot of luck’ with her ‘because he’s going to need it’.

Traditionally, members of the Royal Family are expected to remain politically neutral at all times, and Buckingham Palace distanced itself from the video. It said the Duke is ‘not a working member of the royal family’ and described his comments as being ‘made in a personal capacity’.

Despite their 33-year age gap, Jill and Harry are said to have bonded over their shared military links; the Duke spent 10 years serving in the British Army, while Jill’s late son Beau was a major in the US Military. Harry and Jill’s longstanding friendship stretches back to May 2013 when they met at a reception for US and British wounded soldiers in Washington, D.C.

They appeared to strike up an immediate bond and the following year Jill travelled to London for Harry’s inaugural Invictus Games, where they were pictured beaming together during several of the events. Joe joked he was ‘a little worried’ about how much time Harry and Jill were spending together, a gag the then vice president repeated in 2016 when his wife again met the royal at the Games in Orlando. ‘Jill went to London for the last Games. She spent too much damn time with Prince Harry,’ he said.

The Bidens further attended the Games in Toronto in 2017 – the same year that Harry stepped out in public with Meghan, 39, for the first time.

[From The Daily Mail]

You know if it was William who had a decade-long friendship with the Bidens, it would be presented as Powerful Future King Nurtures Strong American Allyship. But because it’s Harry, it’s presented as a negative that he has a long-standing friendship with the incoming First Family based on mutual respect and the shared interest of veterans’ issues. Besides, both Dr. Jill AND Michelle Obama were sweet on Harry. They both adored him and he adored them right back. I wonder if the Bidens have already extended an invitation to the Sussexes? LMAO. Please, I hope the Daily Mail continues to report on how Harry is super-close to the Bidens, because I’m desperate to use ALL of the photos we have of Harry looking so chummy with the Obamas and the Bidens.

Well well well how the turntables!

This is yet another reason why Diana’s words continue to haunt, that Henry had the temperament for king more so than William. Isn’t a monarch supposed to be able to get along with others and look as if he is enjoying himself – especially when others represent foreign lands???? Or are they supposed to be stiff upper lipped and look like they have little desire to be earning their keep.
Double standards for these two and he and Meghan knew this would always be the case.

    • PEARL GREY says:

Everybody talks about Meghan’s networking skills (usually denounced as “sOciAl cLimBiNg!”), but Harry is a networking king. He has former and future presidents and First Ladies, major studio executives, sportsmen and women and media moguls in his back pocket and has done for years. He knows how to make connections and nurture friendly relationships and people will want to work with him because he is also genuine. Statesman Bill seethes, so of course the Fail have to soothe him with this pathetic article.

    • margedebarge says:

It’s hard to separate the nature and nurture. Yes Harry has a more easygoing personality, but he also wasn’t raised with the expectation of being king. William has been Future King William his entire life, and it’s not a stretch to think it may have negatively impacted his personality development.

      • emu says:

agree. Harry was free to be more friendly and open – similar, it appears, to Princess Margaret

      • notasugarhere says:

We don’t see other heirs (or heirs to heirs) to thrones being abusive, petulant, and PR-bizarre as William.

      • Thirtynine says:

That could be true in some respects, but the differences in the brothers temperaments have been remarked upon by the various people close to them since they were toddlers.

  2. Imogene says:

That these people consider “woke” to be a derogatory term tells you everything you need to know about them and their priorities.

  3. lanne says:

Just saw a story about the Queen holding a platinum jubilee in 2022. A big, expensive event right when they are knee-deep in Brexit, a party to celebrate a 96 year old who should have retired 20 years ago. Those idiots are going to need all the soft diplomacy they could get from the likes of crowd pleasers like Harry and Meghan. They both already have long-established connections to people in positions of power. Now, they will use those connections to benefit themselves, when they could have been used to benefit the RF. The tabloids are playing right into the Sussexes hands with this–by demonizing the Sussex’s connections to progressive politicians, they prevent the royals from reaching out to the same progressives they will need to reach younger constituents both in the UK and abroad. The royals can’t benefit from the “cool factor” of Biden-Harris if the Sussexes get there first–they run the risk of unavoidable comparisons. The tabloids are boxing the royals into having to embrace their reactionary position, so they won’t be able to play at “wokeness” (demonizing wokeness hurts them as well).

    • Elizabeth Regina says:

LOL! Talk about self sabotage. The demonisation of woke politics by the British tabloids is a sight to behold. Everyone in the UK know that we’ve been left with the lame ducks. The best royals were made to flee from the toxicity and horror of horrors are good friends with the people who potentially will be in charge of the most powerful country in the world. The incandescent rage of FFK and his minions is about to go through the roof. He is just incapable of forming lasting and genuine bonds with people outside his circle. As much as I don’t like Charles, at least he makes an effort and has friends all over the world. FFK couldn’t even do a pretend ‘lads’ night in successfully and sadly his wife is so insular and devoid of any warmth all she has to offer is her womb and clothing. Things are just getting better and better.

      • Amy Bee says:

Charles has friends around the world except in the US. In the last 30 years he has visited the US once and that was to attend George HW Bush’s funeral as the representative of the Queen. For those who remember her, Diana is still a beloved figure in the US and that puts Charles in a very awkward position.

      • 809Matriarch says:

As usual doing their bit to suck up to Willy the Lightbulb. He’s likely sicced them on Harry bc he’s jealous about this relationship too. Just imagine his mumbling wife trying to have a substantive conversation with the First Lady with a doctorate and a real job.

Probably why Woot Woot dug Scammy Markle out of cobwebs too.

      • notasugarhere says:

Charles and Camilla went on vists to the US in 2005, 2007, and 2015. Charles visited the US solo in 2011. There may be more, those were just the ones I found quickly.

      • Babz says:

@809Matriarch, your comment reminded me about a picture taken early on in the current administration and was turned into a meme. It was a picture of Ivanka sitting next to Angela Merkel at a meeting. The Chancellor is looking at her with a WTF expression, and the caption was something along the lines of “why am I having to deal with someone who sells handbags.” It was one of the early times when Ivanka was at a meeting which was so clearly above her pay grade, and that caption was perfect for the situation. I would imagine Dr. Biden would would be a more tactful about it with Kate, but the situation would be nearly identical. The intellect gap is nearly insurmountable.

    • Vera says:

She had the golden jubilee, the diamond jubilee… are we supposed to shell out lots of money every 10 years if she lives long enough?

      • Becks1 says:

And then wait until the funeral, the coronation, William’s investiture as Prince of Wales…….

      • equality says:

More often than that. Don’t you think she will have a huge celebration if she surpasses Louis XIV’s number of years ruling?

  4. Sarah says:

So we’re just not mentioning the other royals links to the Tories and BoJo? Ok, cool. That seems totally legit. Definitely H&M being the most awful people in the world ever.

    Sigh.

    • A says:

William: [literally hires a person who was BoJo’s personal assistant, who has worked as part of the Tory govt, who worked on a Brexit committee to try and figure out how to break international law but legally somehow and had to quit because that’s fucking impossible]

      The press: Ya’ll hear sumn?

  5. Digital Unicorn says:

Cain must be beside himself with ‘incandescent rage’ over the ginger love his brother gets. You can bet that the Cambridges are now chewing at the bit for an official trip to the US and will want to be papped at the WH before H&M are.

TQ and Chuck will reap what they have sowed when it comes to the Sussex’s and Cambridges – their fear of standing up to William will come back and bite them on the ass.

Long live Prince Hot Ginge (thanks to Michael K for that).

    • lanne says:

I don’t think they’ll be coming to the US anytime soon–I don’t think either of them could handle all the inevitable comparisons to his dear brother and sister in law. There likely won’t be any inaguration balls in January, nor will there likely be any royal tours anytime soon

      • Jay says:

Yeah, it would be incredibly awkward for any royal family member, especially the Cambridges, to visit the U.S. and not visit Harry and his family. Can you imagine? Every day “Are you planning to visit Archie? Why not?” or, if they do visit, “Have you reconciled with your brother?” It would overshadow their whole visit.

      • PrincessK says:

Absolutely. It will be a long time before the Cambridge’s set foot in the US. When Biden’s presidency is going to become very interesting.

    • Lemons says:

I really want Biden to be like…we’ve invited the Sussexes to the state dinner. You can stay at home Willileaks and choir.

    • notasugarhere says:

More likely it would be Charles and Camilla on an official visit. Harry and Meghan could be invited to the dinner, for which they’d be criticized for flying across country for a dinner. Or Charles and Camilla could work in a California stop on their tour.

  6. Northerngirl says:

    I dig this!!!

  7. Kiera says:

I really hope the Biden’s invite the Sussex’s to some inauguration event. One cause I want to see people in pretty dresses and two cause it would annoy so many reporters, royals, and trumpers. Mostly for the dresses though.

    • Scollins says:

We posted at the same time. YES to the dresses and even Men’s wear is so interesting these days. I also would like to see all the wonderful, inspiring guests they’d have. Including some of our new heroes like Rep Cori Bush.

    • Myra says:

I am secretly hoping for this to happen but just for me to laugh at the reaction of the BM.

    • Amy Bee says:

Will there be any inauguration events considering that were still in a pandemic and it’s still expected to be around in January?

      • Lizzythe2 says:

Any Bee. I was thinking that there would be a vastly different inauguration than previous years but I was hearing a report that stated that hotels are filled up for that time. I think it’s insane to hold any kind of event especially since Trump is criticized so often for holding events. I know if Biden does have events though they will have appropriate measures in place but I still wouldn’t go. I went to Obama’s second term ceremony. But would never think of traveling during this time.

As far as the Biden’s I didn’t know that Harry even knew them as most of the headlines were about Harry and Barack (and Michelle’s crush on him). LOL. But it makes total sense that the Biden’s know Harry because of the military connection. Pretty sure that the Invictus games will keep that relationship going.

As far as Harry and Meghan’s politics, as they are no longer part of the Royal Family in an official capacity I think they can say whatever they want. They can even actively support and endorse publicly whomever they want and the British press should just shut up about it.

      • BearcatLawyer says:

I am guessing President Biden will set an example and do some kind of virtual inauguration livestream. He will not want to risk anyone’s life during a pandemic, especially his own.

      • Lady2Lazy says:

@ Bearcatlawyer, I agree!! President Biden will certainly conduct a very scaled back inauguration and will probably hold a very limited ceremony, if a ceremony at all. Remember he is coming into a shit storm of the pandemic and he has played his entire election campaign brilliantly. I read in The NY Times that the way that Biden conducted his election campaign by being respectful of the pandemic actually won him votes, he didn’t lose any. Biden was seen as the cautious one, following the science even though his election campaign told him to go out, he refused. Biden is smart as hell and he won based on his cautiousness.

      • minx says:

Every president deserves a celebratory inauguration but I agree, I think it will be either remote or some sort of hybrid. Unlike Trump, Joe’s not an egomaniac. He knows these are desperate times.

      • liz says:

THIS!! I’m guessing a very, very small ceremony, inside at the Capitol or the Supreme Court to (a) discourage crowds forming outside and (b) allow for the fumigation & security sweep of the White House. It will be televised/live-streamed. There will be no parties.

    • Babz says:

My one and only regret (and it’s a completely shallow one) about H&M leaving is that, just once, I wanted to see Meghan dressed formally for a State occasion, wearing a tiara. The gown would have been off the charts fabulous, her hair would have been perfect, and whatever tiara she wore would have been perfectly chosen and stunning. And don’t even get me started on Harry in a tux, or better still, in white tie! Their effect would have been stratospheric! And certain people would have been incandescent with rage!

      • PrincessK says:

Me too. I wanted to see her at a state banquet. But it can still happen in Charles reign or there might be a big event where the Queen wants all members of the family turned out and united.

  8. Scollins says:

What a lovely start to my day. Would love it if Harry & Meghan attended the inauguration in whatever capacity they’re planning. Too bad COVID means we’ll miss a big celebration. I’m getting fireworks, not only fun for us but will infuriate our disgusting tRumper neighbors.

    • SomeChick says:

I have a friend who plans to visit DC at that time for the express purpose of flipping off the departing heli of the exiting despot. (Or as the AP would say, “making an unfriendly hand gesture” LOL.)

  9. Cassandra says:

“ How dare he be one of the best soft-power diplomats the Windsors ever produced!”

Seriously. The Royal Family was gifted their future salvation on a platter with Harry and Megan and just said “nah”. So short sighted for a centuries old institutions

    • Va Va Kaboom says:

And for some inexplicable reason the BRF & Co. aren’t content with a simple shady “nah”. They’re quite bound and determined to blow up that bridge and piss on ashes.

    • lucy2 says:

It’s really amazing. H&M could have made the BRF seem modern and connected to the people and actually worth having.
But I guess they made everyone else look bad by comparison. Their loss is our gain here in the US! I’m glad they have a relationship with the Bidens, hopefully they team up to work on a few issues.

      • cassandra says:

Fantasy scenario: Harry gets dual US/UK citizenship. 10 years down the line he and Meghan are made ambassadors to the UK. The collective royal family explodes in rage.

Totally not gonna happen, but fun to ponder haha

      • CatWomen says:

They don’t want any change, that’s been the problem since 1955.

    • notasugarhere says:

Charles is very good a soft diplomacy, but William definitely falls down on the job. All William does is make bad jokes and offensive small talk. See his talking to Obama about baby genitalia and telling a diplomatic he hoped the man wasn’t peeking in W&K’s bedroom windows in London.

      • Nyro says:

        Wait, what?!!!

      • notasugarhere says:

        Yes, William did those things.

      • ArtHistorian says:

William is not funny – and his so-called “jokes” are either insulting (Covid), condescending or really awkward. He might do better if he stops trying to be funny.

      • L4frimaire says:

I don’t think Charles is that good at anything right now. His “ soft power skills”, if he ever had them, have diminished. Have they even congratulated president-elect Biden yet? Both the Irish PM and President ( their head of state) has, and China finally recognized. Silence rom the UK head of state while their PM gave a grudging acknowledgement. He’s been too much in a bubble himself. He’s past his prime and hasn’t done anything to show he can take charge of his family or the “ Firm”, hence the interpersonal mess they have now. He centers himself and his own feelings, and inadequacies. He may be the future head, but he’s not a good leader, and neither is his damaged heir William.

      • notasugarhere says:

Does the monarch ever send out the congratulations, in lieu of the PM? I don’t think that’s that unusual.

Charles’s soft power is old school, old fashioned. That’s how he serves and how he raises all that money for charity. The Duchy, Prince’s Trust, Dumfries House, all of that. Far more than any other POW in history, far more than William will ever do.

Taking charge of the family? I don’t know that we’ll see that before Philip and the Queen are gone. Then he might be free to deal with Andrew, whatever that might mean. But he and William will always be at each others throats.

    • A says:

It all makes sense when you realize that the reason they don’t want Harry as a means of exercising their soft-power is fundamentally because they don’t want to appeal to the sorts of people that Harry appeals to and is friends with. That is to say, progressives, people who are liberal/left-wing etc, who reject racism, out of control racist nationalism, who envision a Britain that has always been more diverse culturally than the white British segment of the population the BRF and the Tories want to appeal to care to think about.

Their rejection of Harry is not because they don’t know of his abilities, it’s because they don’t want them. They don’t want him because he is anathema to their vision of the firm and its future. They don’t want him because they know he doesn’t appeal to the audience the firm wants to appeal to ie, white British people exclusively. Their treatment of Harry is an exposure of their own ugly values that’s at the core of the BRF.

  10. Ann says:

I remember the photo of Michelle sitting next to Harry and looking at him with goo goo eyes. It was so cute. Let’s imagine Harry and Megan having a friendly and enjoyable dinner with Michelle and Barack, and a photo of little Archie meeting President and Dr. Biden! I’m having so much fun imagining the possibilities!

  11. Becks1 says:

I’m laughing so hard at this. They try to make it act like Harry met Jill Biden only because he’s the grandson of the Queen, not because he has been working on veterans issues for years and because he founded the Invictus Games – which is obviously going to mean a lot to Jill and Joe, probably more so after Beau died. It seems from this that Jill has gone to every Invictus Games except the Australia one, which makes sense because that’s a long haul flight from the US.

But we all know the problem. It’s not that Harry is friends with the Bidens. It’s that the Cambridges ARENT.

    • Nic919 says:

This is it. Harry made the friendships by putting in the work when he set up Invictus Games and that’s how he is friends with Michelle and Jill, and eventually their husbands.

It also shows how selfish of an existence the Cambridges lead, with nothing but superficial and minimal work on any cause. Harry is more like his father in maintaining long term relationships with people on causes they have worked on.

    • Elizabeth Regina says:

Spot on. They hate that H and M are thriving and have made connections they think William should be making. I’ve often said that it’s always been about positional authority for FFK. Even when he does make those connections (Earth shot prize anyone?) they flop because he is not truly invested and he is lazy. He is also incapable of introspection, blaming others for his failures. The embiggening campaigns also don’t help. I almost feel sorry for him but when I remember the empty plane stunt I don’t.

    • notasugarhere says:

It was also obvious when the Obamas were in London. They couldn’t very well only visit with Harry, with whom they were friends. Hence the forced meeting in W&K’s KP home with the racist painting.

      • lanne says:

what kind of people put hang paintings of slaves on their walls? All that art they have in the royal collection and THAT’s what they choose?? I wonder if they’ve had a POC in their home since then. They dont seem to have any POC friends, do they?

      • Nic919 says:

And an art history major no less. The levels of racism and ignorance in hanging that painting of a slave boy in their personal living room is astounding.

  12. Jay says:

So Harry…has connections to world leaders? Has worked hard and gained recognition from powerful people? I don’t understand the criticism here, unless the British press believe he is dropping dirt on his petty granny to discourage a trade deal or some nonsense.

Perhaps the contrast to his brother ( who needs to hire a documentary crew in order to appear involved in anything) is too strong.

    • Becks1 says:

Also, why are they make it sound like its something sketchy? Harry and Jill weren’t sneaking out for dates at wine bars, or engaged in nefarious backroom deals. They met first in DC at an event for veterans issues, and then it seems the rest of the meetings were at Invictus. It’s not like this relationship has been hidden for years, its probably more that the press focused on Harry and the Obamas.

But like I said above and like you said here – the issue is the Cambridges and their lack of connections etc.

      • Becks1 says:

“why do they make it sound” sorry, I’m waiting for the caffeine to kick in.

      • Jane's Wasted Talent says:

Also the Torey newspapers- they seem to have a very tiresome agenda for every public figure, based primarily on their politics (Trump was simply such a dreadful oaf that he couldn’t garner their favor- after all, we Yanks have always rejected him socially).

      • Ginger says:

The British media are jealous because they know their royals could never build these type of relationships.

    • Mignionette says:

Harry has played a blinder here. He has a good relationship with the most influential man on the planet and also gets on well with senior ranking members in the EU who are trying to coax the UK back to sense.

If the UK establishment weren’t so dumb, they’d lick their wounds, settle the court case and make nice to them in the hopes of not rocking the boat further.

I bet the BRF wished they had agreed to the Part-Time Royals proposal now….. LMFAO.

      • cc says:

I bet the BRF wished they had agreed to the Part-Time Royals proposal now….. LMFAO.

Unfortunately, I don’t think they have. I think, they still think that was a good decision.

  13. Snuffles says:

This is another example of how The Firm blew it. They have a Royal with an already strong relationship with the incoming administration at a time that they are desperately needing it for a future trade deal between the UK-US. Because their own Prime Minister has already pissed off the President AND the VP. And we have a VP with parents who immigrated from TWO Commonwealth countries! Who has already thrown her support behind Meghan against the abuse she sustained from the Royal family and the press.

Imagine how glorious it could have been if that family and the press didn’t drive their best assets away!!

By the by, I am 100% convinced both Harry and Meghan will end up supporting social initiatives the administration will have. Probably connected to Archewell and their own causes.

Dude, Harry and Meghan are going to be MEGA players on the world stage and The Firm won’t be able to take credit or benefit one iota from it! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

    • Lemons says:

@Snuffles, don’t worry, the Firm will try at every step! They won’t let us forget that Harry is the grandson of Petty and the son of Charles, LITTLE brother to William, and this is the ONLY reason that Harry has ANY connections at all, period.

It’s quite frustrating. They told him to move on, he has moved on, he obviously has more meaningful connections on the world stage and with power players, and yet, they can’t move on.

      At least William has Shakira.

      • Elizabeth Regina says:

Someone mentioned that H and M are Schrodinger royals. They are royal when asking people to vote and not royal when it comes to laying of wreaths. So which is it? When it suits the tabloids, they wail for him to come home and do his ‘duty’. When it doesn’t they tell him to stay away, hide in seclusion and secrecy. They messed up big time and their attempt at damage control is like trying to scrub ketchup from a white carpet.

      • Jane's Wasted Talent says:

        ‘Schrodinger royals’ is brilliant.

      • one of the Marys says:

@Lemons He didn’t move on in the way they scripted for him. They’re still trying to shape his life and narrative, to what end I honestly don’t know at this point. The media will keep it going because of profits but why the family don’t go radio silent is the question for me.

    • A says:

@Snuffles, the fact that Kamala Harris HATES Boris Johnson gives me LIFE. I share some of her background as a South Asian, and I know EXACTLY why and what it is she hates about Boris Johnson, because it’s the same reason my parents hate Boris Johnson and why everyone in their generation treats him with such contempt in general. It’s because he’s a boor, and worse, he’s a British boor on top of everything else, and even worse than that, he’s a British boor who doesn’t fucking comb his hair.

There’s a very specific word in Tamil that’s used to refer to people like that who specifically don’t comb their hair, and I am about 50% certain in my head that Kamala Harris is familiar with the word, and that that’s the word she uses to refer to him in her head. The way people in my parents generation see it, not combing your hair speaks to a fundamental lack of discipline abt every aspect of your life. The fact that BoJo messes up his hair on purpose to purposefully look that way is even worse. It means you don’t give a fuck about the things that are important, which describes Boris Johnson rather aptly. He’s a fucking slob, not just on purpose to make himself look more cool, but also in the way he conducts his life, and the way he runs his fucking country. That’s worthy of every ounce of contempt a person can muster if you ask me.

  14. Lizzie says:

It would be the best pr of the last few years if the queen asked Harry and Meghan to attend the inauguration, or whatever she is invited to, in her place. Never count on the rf to do the smart thing.

    • Amy Bee says:

The Queen won’t be one asking Harry and Meghan to represent her at any event it would be courtiers and we already know that’s never going to happen. Secondly, they offered to still represent the Queen on a part-time basis and were rejected. So hopefully, they would not be asked to represent her at any Biden event, there’s the UK Ambassador and the rest of the Royal Family to do that job.

    • L4frimaire says:

If they attend inauguration, it will be strictly as private citizens. Anyone can go to the swearing in on the National Mall.

  15. Harper says:

I see four years of a storyline of how M&H interfered with the election and got Biden elected.

    • Elizabeth Regina says:

I’m so glad they are that powerful.

      • Lady D says:

I gotta admit, the thought of them being that powerful in the minds of the RF/BM makes me smile.

      • PrincessK says:

Oh yes they are powerful. Right now the British government is in turmoil over the role the PMs fiancée played in getting rid of some bullying government advisers. Would you believe that Meghan and Harry’s relationship is now being compared to Carrie and Boris, and of course the women are being painted as having too much power over their partners. Meghan is on everyone’s lips, all the time, no event can pass without Meghan being mentioned. While it is deeply annoying, it at the same time increases the power of the Sussexes.

  16. Amy Bee says:

This story shows that the Daily Mail thinks its readers are stupid and that the royal editor has no input into what stories are put out. The Royal editor would know that Harry has had a friendship for the Biden based on his work on the Invictus Games but the Daily Mail is presenting the story as if nobody is aware of this. We also has to take into consideration that the Daily Mail is pissed that Trump lost.

Without a doubt if William had the friendship with the Bidens, the press would be touting his status as a global statesman and his skill at soft diplomacy. It makes you realise that Harry was the true statesman and has cultivated alot of connections that most people including the press don’t know about.

    • Mignionette says:

Harry would be the secret diplomatic weapon for the UK right now given the hole we’ve dug ourselves into. Not only does he engage well with US Leaders but also European ones such as Donald Tusk whom he also appears to engage well with.

Also I have a sense that leaders will often deliberately request Harry in favour of Bill as they can be more open and relaxed with him.

      • Amy Bee says:

Well, the Royal Family didn’t think about that when they decided to reject Harry’s offer to be part-time royal. Plus, Charles and William take precedence in this instance so it would probably be unlikely that Harry would have been asked to represent the Queen, if he was still a working royal.

      • Mignionette says:

And that is where they need to adapt. Sometimes you appoint the right person to do the job i.e. the one who is competent and has the relationship.

How can they call themselves ‘a firm’ when they don;t know how to operate like one ?

      • HeatherC says:

I’m so glad they’re out from under, and it was made clear they do not represent the Queen. When there are official events, the Queen’s courtiers could have nixed Harry attending, sorry, your brother and father are more important, especially your brother, you get to stay home and watch it on TV like everyone else.

Now, Harry can get that hand written invitation on the Bidens’ personal stationary followed up with a friendly chatty phone call. And when he gets a message from the courtiers saying he can’t go because Charles and/or William need to be invited instead of him, he can laugh, put on his suit and leave Montecito with his beautiful wife and go anyway.

      • A says:

I could see that happening if the Tories ever get out of power, but I doubt it. I’ve been saying this for a while now, but the press targeting Harry and Meghan is not only motivated by the average bog standard British racism, but also the particular political climate they’re in right now, which makes Harry and Meghan potent targets for right wing discontent. The press is essentially making them into the figureheads for everything they perceive as “wrong” about progressives, and both the Tories, and the royal family (who have fundamentally aligned themselves with the Tories, particularly William), are capitalizing on this because they think stoking those fires solidifies their own support from the people.

I’d be very surprised if BoJo and his cronies didn’t see Biden’s win as writing on the wall. I know it was very down to the wire, but failing to prepare for the possibility speaks to how bad they are at running a govt. I truly don’t think they anticipated Biden winning, and the wrench his win could potentially throw, not only in the post-Brexit trade deal fantasy they sold the Leavers on, but also on the support for Brexit itself. BoJo hoped that he could break international law as flagrantly and with as little consequence as Trump could, and counted on Trump’s support and example to do it with the Good Friday agreement. That shit’s gone now. He’s on his own. He has very few backers, while Ireland has the entirety of the EU on its side. He can try and make nice with Biden, but it’s doubtful if that will swing Biden’s view on things. I can see him trying to use Harry as a last ditch go-between, maybe, but if that happens, my firm belief is that Harry’s going to laugh and hang up, which is nothing less than what all of those fuckwits deserve for having spent months being cool with the racist smears against Harry and Meghan that, again, they capitalized from because it riles up their bases and keeps them distracted from the govts actual failings.

  17. ABritGuest says:

Lol. Harry didn’t even say vote. Meghan – the US citizen- was the one who did and kudos to her and everyone who encouraged & worked to get the vote out. Approximately 160m Americans voted which was apparently largest turnout in decades. This is good for democracy& only problematic people don’t want people to vote.

As for the Bidens the Fail is obviously still feeling sore their boy lost. But they better get with the program. Apparently in wake of Biden win& departure of hard core pro Brexit staff, Downing Street is signalling getting on board with ‘woke’ softer issues like climate change & dropping culture wars & harsher theoretic.

If true- that means the royals might have to follow suit & ‘do woke’ after all. The hypocrisy is going to be grating to watch

    • A says:

And even if he had told people to vote, that would be a good thing, because it would have shown that the royal family is fundamentally on the side of democracy and the power of people, rather than feudalism and monarchy, which are predicated on disenfranchising people. By pitching such a huge fit abt Harry’s participation in that video, what they essentially said was, “Fuck democracy, we don’t care about whether people can vote or not.” Which is a bad look for any “””constitutional monarchy””” but of course they’re too fucking stupid to know that. What depresses me is that people aren’t seeing the royals expose themselves like this.

  18. Likeyoucare says:

You know what will happen to willy if harry and meghan carpooling with the obamas to the inauguration. He might get a stroke because of the indescent rage.

    • Lady2Lazy says:

@ Likeyoucare, that was brilliant!! I was imagining PWT clutching his chest with his permanent angry face as he screams Harry’s name!! The Firm, TQ and PWT all chose this ending, so they can STFU and deal with the hand that they dealt themselves!! They have no one to blame but themselves and it’s going to be glorious as the years go by and PWT will slither into the nothingness that he is! I am excited for what the future holds for Harry and Meghan and wish them nothing but the very best in their future to include the utmost happiness that certainly deserve!!

  19. Mignionette says:

So basically Harry (who has served on the front lines unlike his dubious fake medal wearing relatives) has been politically engaged and ‘woke’ pre-Meg.

Lol – will love to see how the Heil et al spin this one ….

  20. Mignionette says:

Btw for anyone who is interested, I urge you to have a look at Harry’s pics with Melania at similar events. The contrast in warmth and engagement is astounding.

    • PEARL GREY says:

I distinctly remember the press and trolls attempting to drag Harry for not cheesing with Melania and blaming it on him being “influenced by Meghan’s leftist politics” (they weren’t overusing their new favourite word “woke” back then). Nevermind that Harry had been friends with the Obamas for a while and naturally wouldn’t be all smiles with the racist birther conspiracy pushing wife of a man who said he could “nail” his “crazy” dead mother but “she would have to take an AIDS test first”. Nope, it was all Meghan’s doing.

  21. S808 says:

Looks like we’re already seeing how the RF is missing out cause of their short sightedness. As everyone else has said, H&M have loads of soft power that could’ve strengthened the US-UK relations. Having an “in” with the incoming President and First Lady would’ve been so valuable, especially right now when the UK needs a trade deal.

Whoever rejected the part time plan….god bless. They set them free and now the only person who’ll reap the benefits of Harry’s networking is himself and his wife. I would personally like to see H&M at whatever inaugural event happens and for Jill to tap on Harry for veteran events. I’ll always find it funny how they were terrified of H&M going off to California and building a US court only to push them to do just that. Now they *another* President and First Lady in the rolodex.

  22. Sofia says:

And? This is political but the revolving door of Tories working at KP isn’t political at all(!)

  23. Jane Doe says:

    Bloody brilliant. Checkers, chess.

  24. Edna says:

How wonderful. Hope H&M are invited to the inauguration and they attend. Also, did anyone else see the video with the BBC reporter shouting at Biden asking for a word and Biden responds “I’m Irish”. It was delightful😄

  25. Bettyrose says:

Harry does have a way with the first ladies though. Bet there’s gonna be winks and sly glances at the inauguration.

  26. Maevo says:

After details of their friendship “emerged” *eyeroll* Like it was some big secret!? God the tabs are desperate for Harry and Meghan content.

Ahhh the pic of Harry without the beard! He looks like such a baby!!

  27. Mabs A'Mabbin says:

This is controversy. Right, that picture is actually them on an island clapping for underage girls modeling their nudity. Gotcha.

  28. aquarius64 says:

This is the BRF and the BM’s worst nightmare. The Sussexes have an in with the new administration. Invites to state dinners, maybe State of the Union. The Biden Administration may not be happy how Meghan, a US citizen, was treated by the British media. A Biden Justice Department may pressed harder for Andrew. If the Windsors thought they will not pay for Remembrance Day…

  29. Nev says:

he looks extra yum in these pics!

  30. Amelie says:

I read the headline as “Harry has had a years long AFFAIR with Joe and Jill Biden” and I was like woah too early for that hahaha.

But seriously now it’s a scandal that everyone loves Harry? Try harder Daily Mail.

  31. 809Matriarch says:

As usual doing their bit to suck up to Willy the Lightbulb. He’s likely sicced them on Harry bc he’s jealous about this relationship too. Just imagine his mumbling wife trying to have a substantive conversation with the First Lady with a doctorate and a real job.

  32. Bettyrose says:

Does she ever have to correct his grammar tho? Awkward.

  33. BearcatLawyer says:

Harry earned the respect of many world leaders by actively serving in the military and performing ceremonial duties for the Queen willingly – not grudgingly like FFK Bill. Even after he left active duty, he continues to work publicly on veterans issues with the Invictus Games and privately through his volunteer counseling work with wounded UK service members. It was no surprise – and should not have been a shock to the BRF at all – that his former comrades in arms would happily spend £1400 on a wreath to be laid in Harry’s name on Armistice Day. He put his life on the line for them when he did not have to do so and has remained loyal to the armed forces even after retirement from the Army. FFK Bill and FFQ Cathy will NEVER garner the same love and loyalty because they simply do not understand Harry’s kind of selflessness and commitment.

  34. Charfromdarock says:

I’m incandescent with joy on Harry’s behalf.

The RF/courtiers/RR had two rock stars but instead chose the two lumps of rock.

And they are too stupid to realize it.

  35. Mumbles says:

I think the DM is typically trying to make something out of nothing. It looks like the Bidens and Harry have a nice working relationship. In my book that makes them friendly, or acquaintances, but not a “firm friendship.” He’s not texting Jill on the reg. Nor were the Bidens at the wedding, which you would have expected if indeed they had been “firm friends” since 2013.

    • MaryContrary says:

      Agreed. So silly.

    • notasugarhere says:

Guess you don’t remember the talk the Obamas were to be invited to the wedding, but it would have angered Trump so it wasn’t allowed. Some powerful and admirable people, like Barack and Michelle Obama, like Harry. Kamala Harris and Stacey Abrams have openly stated their admiration for Meghan and how she nagivated this abusive system.

      • Mumbles says:

I refuse to believe that people like the Obamas and the Bidens would have deferred to Trump’s anger in deciding whether to do something. They aren’t scared of him.

And I have no idea what Kamala Harris or Stacey Abrams think of Meghan has anything to do with this topic, but sure, fine.

      • notasugarhere says:

They absolutely would have, especially if the UK was reluctant to anger Drumpf if he and Princess Nagini weren’t invited to the private event.

It appears the Obamas and Bidens tried to stay quiet and in the background for as long as they could. They only started coming forward after a year or two, when democracy (small ‘d’) was clearly being threatened by Emperor Baby Fists (still the best nickname ever, @Kaiser).

You’re insisting that neither Harry nor Meghan could be admired by powerful people or be friends with them. I’m providing examples to the contrary. Including the fact that both the incoming VP of the US and pro-democracy organizer Stacy Abrams have publicly stated their admiration for Meghan’s handling of this abusive situation. We also had news in July/August that SA and Meghan had been talking together about voter suppression in the African-American community. Seems to trigger you.

      • Tealie says:

@ Mumbles The problem wasn’t the Obamas or Kamala Harris all the others of anger the problem was trumps and how it would look diplomatically because traditionally ALL US presidents are invited to royal weddings, so they can’t invite the former president and not invite the current one that’s why they didn’t invite any of them it would show a lack of approval. I’m sure they discussed this with the Obamas and they very much understood why they couldn’t come.

      • Lorelei says:

@Mumbles I don’t think the issue is that the Obamas or the Bidens wouldn’t have attended for fear of angering Trump; my guess is that the BRF wouldn’t even let Harry invite them because *they* would worry about retaliation by Trump. I’m sure the both the Obamas and the Biden’s understood this, but it’s still a shame if they had to miss a royal wedding (for a royal they actually know and like!) because the POTUS is a spiteful, vindictive little man.

  36. Leah says:

Why is this such a big deal? Oh that’s right, I forgot that they are still so salty because he married a bi-racial woman. Not only a woman of mixed heritage but a citizen of one of their former rebellious colonies. Oh noes! King George III is doing 360 degree spins in his grave!

It’s in America’s best interest to stay friendly with her allies. This is something we haven’t had with baby hands, who managed to piss off the leaders of every single country except those with a dictator. He even pissed off Canada, and that was quite a feat because Canada loves everyone.

  37. Rebecca says:

The Daily Mail got this link from Twitter. A Sussex supporter posted a tweet about Harry’s links to Biden a few days after election day (when it was apparent Joe was definitely going to win).

They scour Twitter for content. There isn’t a researcher among their entire staff.

    • L4frimaire says:

100% agree. They always look on Twitter for random comments and blow it up into a story, because they have no leaks or sources.I remember during the height of the tabloid attacks on Meghan just after she went on maternity leave, there was some quote in an article about Meghan being the golden goose. Now the goose has flown away and they get their news the same time as us, they just manufacture controversy, or have the royal courtiers sh*t stir to get attention for the other royals.

    • PrincessK says:

The Daily Mail is dreadful. The bases for most of their hateful Meghan articles are dredged up from Twitter. Journalism at its very lowest.

  38. Lauren says:

I would have thought that this was a good thing for the royal trashy family. Specially since they were whining that Trump winning the elections would have left them at an awkward position due to Harry’s and Meghan’s voting statements. Not only has Trump lost, but Harry was also already friendly with the Biden’s. But of course that is bad. The mental cartwheels needed to arrive to this conclusion.

    • Mignionette says:

Trump losing is bad for the BRF, bc now there is no one at the top with enough influence to interfere with the Epstein case.

If Trump is the Goose then Andy is a cooked Goose.

      • Tealie says:

Exactly @migonette they have based their entire brand on the racism and bigotry trying to appeal to Trump. Now that he has lost they are in panic as to how they know they look to someone like Biden. Even the government are worried and cowering how this will affect the UKUS trade deal after Boris Johnson is many racist comments.

  39. Julia K says:

All of the above comments should reach the eyes and ears of the RF. Any chance at all that someone close to the palace sees this site?

  40. Midnight@theOasis says:

Let’s see how long it takes before the headlines become how H&M have interfered with the British government’s diplomatic relations and trade deals with a Biden administration. Any angle those racists can use to stir up anger against H&M they’ll use.

    • A says:

You just know the Fail is going to try some fail ass headline like implying that Harry and Meghan are the ones who poisoned Joe Biden against Boris Johnson and Brexit or something shitty like that.

      • Rebecca says:

I’d like to see the DM try it, since it’s well documented that Biden’s issue with Johnson go back to Johnson’s racist comments about Pres. Obama’s Kenyan heritage. I don’t know of Johnson said something sideways about Irish people, but IF he did, Biden would take issue as he’s Irish-American. Johnson knows he’s f-cked politically, since unlike Trump, Biden is always going to uphold the Good Friday Agreement. Biden also agrees with comments made by Obama before Brexit in which Obama said Britain would be at the back of the queue when it comes to trade deals. The US, at the time, saw an advantage to negotiating with the EU as a whole, instead of piecemeal. This won’t change with Biden.

Now, that won’t stop Johnson and his surrogates from leaning into the “special relationship”. If that will play well with Pres Biden , we’ll have to see.

  41. Michael says:

He’s cheating on Michelle with Jill? The nerve. I hope he gets an invitation to one of the Inaugural Balls. That would make some heads spin in England too

  42. Valiantly Varnished says:

This only makes me love him more. And it also goes to show the DIRECT parallel between Trump supporters and the Daily Mail and their trolls. They can stay mad.

  43. Jennifer M says:

How delightful! I am so glad we get Harry and his altruism here in America! We really need it.

    • Anna says:

Yes, so wonderful! I love seeing these confirmations of Harry’s connection with our new FLOTUS. It means that we’re on the right track and that so many who need support (educators, veterans, etc.) will have it now through her, through H&M, and their partnerships! and will have the empathy and compassion they bring to their work. So wonderful.

  44. A says:

I haven’t even read the whole thing, and I might but I’m leaning towards not doing so, for the sole reason that this was just NOT a problem for anyone when Harry was still a member of the royal family. Everyone ranted and raved about how friendly he was with the Obamas. How nice he was to Michelle Obama. How well he got on with the Obamas. And this was not only when Barack Obama was president, so it was all EXTRA EXTRA political, but it was back when Harry was still within the royal fold, so it was EXTRA EXTRA taboo for him to be consorting with actively serving politicians as a member of the royal family. THAT had so much more potential for scandal, but no one blinked an eye, because Harry wasn’t married to a biracial black American woman at the time. Because as everybody fucking knows, that’s the only time things are ever inappropriately political.

So yeah. Fuck all this song and dance. The Daily Mail can go fuck themselves. Joe Biden opposes Brexit. Britain, with Boris Johnson at the helm, is trying desperately to break an international treaty that brought peace to Northern Ireland after decades of strife, a fact they conveniently never enlightened their dipshit racist audience on in all the time they were screaming at people to vote Leave. They have no reason to like Joe Biden, and the fact that the Bidens are friends with Harry provides them twice the fodder for their hate press, so everyone should be watchful for that. Harry and Meghan are the current societal emblems around which the Fail is waging its culture war, and the fact that they’re close to the Bidens is convenient for that, and the fact that Joe Biden is diametrically opposed to the Fail’s bullshit adds to that. I’m going to keep this context in mind going forward, and so should everyone else.

  45. NotSoSimpleTaylor says:

Jill has done quite a bit when it comes to learning, reading, and writing strategies for people with dyslexia. I’m certain she has mentored Harry on that front as well.

    • notasugarhere says:

That seems a stretch. Harry has had almost 20 years to learn how to address it himself. Why would he bring that up randomly with a colleague when they’re both focused on working on something else (Veteran services)?

  46. MsIam says:

What, no mention of the “$14 million Montecito mansion” in the story? Daily Fail is slipping up y’all!

  47. paddingtonjr says:

Wow, the BRF and BM have been mishandling PR for a long time! While everyone was coddling William and setting Harry up as the “dim spare”, Harry was making strong partnerships with powerful and influential people. He really is the best of both his parents: Charles’s work-ethic and strategic skills combined with Diana’s empathy and ability to effortlessly connect with people from different backgrounds. Had the BRF supported H&M the way they should have and had W&K not been intimidated by H&M, the BRF could have had a powerhouse soft-diplomacy team.

  48. L4frimaire says:

Why are they even making this a story? Despite the 77 million people who voted for Biden, the UK tabloids have to frame it around Meghan and Harry, as if they have no clue how elections work. It’s not like they cast all the ballots themselves or hit the campaign trail. So what if Harry knows Jill Biden, he’s met so many world leaders, and them being acquainted, (and it’s an acquaintance, not BFFs) has no bearing on anything. They try to make a negative story out of everything the Sussexes do, whether it’s meeting First Ladies or hiring communications staff for their organizations. They have their own lives and are doing their own thing, with nothing to do with the royal family. Why are they so bothered now?

  49. Sunnyvale says:

Like someone else mentioned the palace is in panic mode that they released that tone deaf announcement about a party for lizzy during lockdown! I felt like they were signaling to the sussexs about puting this in their calendar but I hope they make other plans. I dont want them to go to trooping or sit behind everyone during commonwealth ceremonies. I hope they stay away and dont give them the satisfaction. You’d think that with Brexit and the declining economy that they would plan for the bad outcome and try to seem less wasteful but no they actually make it worst by lining up extravagant spending plans! Idiots
Harry is better off without them. I hope we see him working with jill on a military project

    • PrincessK says:

I agree, l think it was a signal to the Sussexes, among other things. The next couple of years are going to be very interesting.

  50. Donna B. says:

Okay. I’m going to put it out there, Harry/Meghan might be asked to be ambassadors, now whether they take it is totally up to them. These two give me ambassador/diplomatic vibes.

  51. Sara says:

That’s Dr. Jill Biden, Daily Mail. Get it right.

  52. Mina_Esq says:

It’s so strange to me that they basically hate Harry and Meghan because they have all the qualities that a good King and Queen need.
