Brad Pitt has volunteered ’30 times’ with a food bank charity in South LA

Brad Pitt found himself desperate for some good publicity, and some publicity which didn’t involve a thirsty wannabe Instagram influencer or one of his ex-wives. So Brad arranged a lil’ photoshoot for himself doing charity work in LA – convenient how the light was just right and his mask came undone at just the right moment!

Lainey at LaineyGossip also called shenanigans on these photos and how they were carefully released to coincide with the news about Judge Ouderkirk staying on Brad’s divorce case. I think it’s more than a tit-for-tat about the divorce though – I think Brad just wants to rebrand himself (for the millionth time) as Good Guy Brad, the dude who quietly volunteers at a worthy charity. “Quietly,” as in “arrange to have it strategically leaked to the Daily Mail.”

Brad Pitt has been quietly helping to feed the less fortunate in one of LA’s most deprived housing projects for months, can exclusively reveal. Community leader DeAnthony Langston described the Once Upon a Time in Hollywood star as a ‘Good Samaritan’ for supporting the Watts area of South LA during the pandemic. DeAnthony explained that the Oscar-winner first showed up in Watts this summer with his friend Flea, the Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist.

He says Brad told him: ‘You could really use us right now because white guilt is at an all-time high.’

Since then the actor has been back some 30 times, all while dealing with the fallout from the pandemic and his messy court battle for custody of the six kids he shares with ex Angelina Jolie. DeAnthony, who runs a program teaching youngsters life skills through basketball called Real Run Foundation, says he spoke with Brad a couple of times without even realizing who it was due to the mask he used to protect himself from Covid-19.

Dad-of-two DeAnthony, 54, told ‘I met this guy a couple of times while we were handing out boxes and I didn’t know who he was. Then one of my friends was talking about Brad Pitt and I was like ”What do you mean, Brad Pitt? Why didn’t you tell me?” Turns out I had talked to Brad Pitt for 30 minutes and I didn’t even know it was him. He was just trying to find out about how everybody is doing. He was so cool. He was like ”You could really use us right now because white guilt is at an all-time high”. I had just lost some really close friends and I was talking to him about it, and since then he always asks how I’m doing.’

DeAnthony said, ‘He really puts the work in, he’s amazing. Recently he jumped on his BMW motorcycle and was riding it around the projects. Other times he has brought a big old truck with boxes of food in it. He and Flea order all kinds of food – lettuces, fruits, vegetables, onions, potatoes, milk, cheese, chicken, turkey, yogurt, juice – enough food for the whole week, and then we hand it out to the people who need it.’

[From The Daily Mail]

“You could really use us right now because white guilt is at an all-time high.” I… don’t get it? Yes, white guilt is at an all-time high, but why would a charity working primarily in Black neighborhoods particularly “need” guilty white folks? Surely it would be “I really needed to do something because my white guilt was at an all-time high”? I feel like Brad’s publicist laid out some careful talking points and maybe there was a mix-up!

Anyway, I’m actually not mad at Brad for volunteering, even if it was for show or for this little PR blitz. If he’s really buying food and delivering food, good for him. It’s a lot better than driving his motorcycle around a Black Lives Matter rally.

Seriously. That first pic where his mask is dropped off looks like an ad for Old Navy.

  2. Lily P says:

LOL CAA pr in overdrive. Perhaps there’s some bad news for Pitt coming re divorce (fingers crossed).

Also is it not suss the PR team provided only the first page of the court document about the judge… (could defo be reading into it too much)

My father does a lot of Meals on Wheels delivery. He also beat me when I was a child and teenager.

  4. Michelle says:

He’s not buying the food, he just delivers it. Think it might be a recovery program?
Flea an (ex addict) & Thomas Houseago an (ex addict) are part of the watts program.
Either way, he & his team are still gaslighting Angelina. He may want to be seen as the good guy, but Angelina & his kids know a very different Brad Pitt.

    • Janey says:

Actually, Brad and Flea both buy and deliver food for CommunityCore, the organization that puts on the food drive.

And even if he didn’t buy food (which he did) the man spends hours every week putting in work to make sure it gets distributed.

And you’re trying to frame it as a bad thing?

  5. Darla says:

Yes, all rich celebrities should be doing this, I’m kind of shocked how few have. Our younger congressional reps should be doing this too, in their own districts. and I don’t mean one time for a photo op either.

    • Lily P says:

I’m kind of conflicted on this. I think working with people and communities is so important regardless of who you are, but, celebs come with added costs and risks.

I work in the non profit sector so know volunteers are vital but we are also desperado for money which in my opinion unless you’re skilled in a certain area, money is always better.

That’s not to say BP doesn’t give, I’m sure he does. In fact my opinion is kind of irrelevant to what he’s doing. His efforts seem to be being well received by the Watts community!

What’s with his hair? Wiglet, or no?

    • LaurenMichelle says:

That’s Brad’s hair. He has delivered food over 30 times, driving the truck, plus hauling & handing out food to people. Saw the video on the DM. Glad he dumped that thirsty chick. Brad isn’t a saint, but at least he is helping feed hungry families.

    • Janey says:

Nope, that’s all Brad. Growing it for a movie role, I think.

I’m sure he would enjoy the fact that his hair looks so good that some people thinks impossible.

  7. GuestwithCat says:

Sh*thead does some good work. It happens. Next.

    • lucy2 says:

That was my response. Doesn’t change who he is or what he did, but hopefully he is actually helpful to the organization.

    • Janey says:

More like “Sh-thead” does some good over 30 times for months on end?

One time is a coincedence, but 30 is a pattern, no?

    • Originalcarol says:

MIR called and wanted to know where their good deeds are, sh*thead.

      • Sidewithkids says:

That’s the thing, it’s good if it’s real but BP does every thing for show. He never continues anything and leaves it at a drop of a hat. Dropped MIR like a bad habit and will drop this too. Do for three or four years not just one month where you get your photo op.

That’s the other thing, celebs do things but they aren’t photographed and repped on ever news publication like he loves to do. Again do it b/c you want to not b/c you think it will look good for your persona.

Staged photo opp to get him some good pr. Same as the Sussexes do honestly. Nothing wrong with it, it’s just Hollywood I guess.

  9. Amy Bee says:

I saw a British pap praising Brad for this photo op but bashing the sussexes for taking their photos because they had a private photographer. It indicates that the anger towards Harry and Meghan was not about the photoshoot but who did it. The British media wanted the paps or their colleagues in the US to take pictures so they could have access to and control of the pictures.

Lmao @funny Brad pic overload. Boom boom boom.

  11. Sidewithkids says:

I just can’t get over the farce of some ads talking about he looks good, like he is still some sauve character, he is not. Dude looks like a bum and he has for awhile.

  12. OriginalCarol says:

@katya, how did you get my pic?
