Princess Eugenie & Jack Brooksbank have already moved out of Frogmore Cottage?!

Royals Xmas Day church

About a week before Thanksgiving, we heard the surprising story of how Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan had made an arrangement with Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank with regard to Frogmore Cottage. Harry and Meghan “paid back” the cost of renovating Frogmore, even though the cottage had been sitting there (on the Windsor Castle grounds) vacant since March. So Harry decided to allow Eugenie and Jack to crash there. The Sussexes’ stuff was moved out (“in the dead of night!”) and Eugenie and Jack moved in at some point in November. It was believed that they wanted to stay there throughout her pregnancy, and God knows, the Sussexes have zero plans to come back to the UK. We also heard that the palace was “blindsided” by the arrangement between the cousins. Well, after all that… it turns out that Eugenie and Jack have moved out. WTF?

Princess Eugenie and hubby Jack have mysteriously QUIT Frogmore Cottage. The couple were loaned the five-bedroom cottage by Harry and Meghan to “start their own family”. Pregnant Eugenie, 30, and Jack, 34, arranged to live in the five-bed Grade II listed cottage while the Sussexes were in California. Harry and Meghan said they were “delighted” to “open up their home” to the couple expecting their first child in the new year.

But after only six weeks living in the massively renovated home the couple packed up their belongings and moved back to Kensington Palace. One insider said: “It is empty again. Why does no one want to live in Frogmore Cottage? What is wrong with the place?” Buckingham Palace did not want to comment and sources said it was a private arrangement between Eugenie and Harry.

Eugenie, expecting her first child with Jack in the new year, was spotted shopping in Kensington, west London, ten days ago.

[From The Sun]

My strong guess is that the Queen and her people put up a massive fuss and basically harangued Eugenie and Jack until they moved out. The purpose of running Harry and Meghan out of town was to give the press the story about how awful it is that Frogmore is sitting there, vacant, and after the taxpayers paid so much to renovate it (even though H&M paid all of that sh-t back). Having Frogmore go to use is too much of a reminder that Harry and Meghan don’t feel bad about ABANDONING the toxic Windsors.

I mean, maybe there are other reasons why Eugenie and Jack got out. Maybe it’s haunted. Maybe there’s a rodent problem. Maybe they didn’t like the sound of planes (isn’t it in the direct path of Heathrow?). Maybe there’s a mold problem. Maybe there was bad feng shui.

It could be that they were only there temporarily, am sure we’ll be getting stories about the Meghan evicted them.

    • CherHorowitz says:

Yeah it may well have always been a temporary thing, maybe they were having something done in their house for a few weeks.

Also good point about the planes – I live less than a mile from Frogmore cottage and it really is quite loud being directly underneath it if you’re not used to it. Also if you are used to living in central London without being bothered too much, I imagine Windsor seems a little less ‘happening’ with fewer places to ‘nip out’ to. Whereas I imagine Meghan and Harry probably were keen to get out of the fishbowl a little bit?

      • Sofia says:

I live a 10-15 minute drive from Windsor and can agree on it being like “not much happens” especially when you live in London. Plus I also feel like it’s got the reputation and vibe of “old and/or rich people only” amongst certain generations and people.

No offence to anyone who lives in Windsor.

      • Becks1 says:

But didn’t Eugenie grow up near there? I thought Sunninghill Park was pretty close to Windsor? So she would presumably be used to the planes etc. Although I’m sure Heathrow has just gotten busier over the years so maybe its worse now.

At any rate, this sounds weird, if they were moving there temporarily while something was being done to their house at KP, why not just say that? why all the mystery and acting like they were living there in a quasi-permanent status?

I wonder if someone thought it made the Queen look bad, that Eugenie had to live in Harry and Meghan’s unwanted home?

      • BayTampaBay says:

Maybe they just wanted to live in London and could not afford a cottage in London and a cottage at Windsor. Maybe they had to make a choice and choose a cottage in London?????

      • CherHorowitz says:

Sunninghill park is far enough away that they don’t hear the planes. Windsor great park (where sunninghill park is) is HUGE so is a good few miles away from frogmore and on a different ‘site’.

And yes I can confirm that the whole area is very much mostly oldies and very wealthy people in most parts! Myself excluded.

On a slightly separate but gossipy note – at work last week I had a rather interesting encounter with two very prominent staffers of the royal household (queen’s head of housekeeping and Prince Andrew’s valet) who were SO LOVELY but it was fascinating to listen to them and i wanted to ask so many more questions than i was allowed to in the professional capacity i work in! I could’ve sat there for hours!

The googling that followed brought up some hilariously scandalous articles about all the juice gossip between the staffers. Google ‘fergie’s dog Walker sacked’

      • Wiglet Watcher says:

        CherHorowitz
        I googled it!
The dog walker slept with the butler. The butler’s wife found out. Told Fergie and Fergie fires the dog walker. Dog walker claims she thought the butler was moving on/separating from his wife. Why do dog walkers so readily believe butlers are leaving their wives when there’s no evidence. Just their word.

    • Gruey says:

If it was the Queens goal to keep the house empty for anti-Sussexes optics, then, once again, massive fail. Everyone will assume there’s something seriously wrong with the house. Honestly with an old neglected house there absolutely could be, though you would think the reno would have taken care of anything serious.

    • FC says:

Or that her hospital is in London, so she’s hunkering down there until she delivers.

    • 809Matriarch says:

Maybe they had to pay rent.

  2. Chica1971 says:

Well they should have stayed because Andrew was front and center this weekend on Fail as they poked holes in Epstein mess. Eugenia at Frogmore would have been a distraction. Is something really wrong with the house? Looks like another sh**ty move by palace because it raises more questions.

    • Digital Unicorn says:

Yes, the Fail has taken the gloves off – wonder what deal they struck with Willileaks for this? The Fail has been sat on that story for a long time and they are turning on the RF.

They said he was having a pedicure/manicure at the time of the Pizza Express alibi. The US lawyers are going to be all over the Fail for their evidence.

      • MsIam says:

Anything to quiet the noise on Train-gate. Can’t have the Future-Futures looking like idiots so under the bus goes Uncle Andy!

      • February-Pisces says:

I think willieleaks has run dry on harry and meghan leaks so he’s resorted to throwing Andrew under the bus, not that I care. But I do agree that the DM probably knew all about this for the longest, but now we’re given the go ahead by Willie to pull the trigger. Anything to get people to stop talking about his disastrous train tour. I wonder how Betty feels about Willie doing that to her favourite son? I really do hope they all start to drag each other straight to hell.

  3. Anne K says:

Given that Andrew is the queen’s favourite child, maybe she didn’t want her favourite grandchild staying in the renovated servants quarters. 🙁

I wouldn’t put it past her. It seems the queen was delibarate in the ‘gift’ she gave Harry and Meghan

    • Gruey says:

Everything about this raises questions about the soundness of the house. But I guess people will make up stories about Meghan taking back the offer and kicking them out.

    • Wiglet Watcher says:

TQ offered the small ivy cottage because it was available. There aren’t many properties that are vacant or spoken for somehow left. And the optics. Yes, Andrew is the favorite son, but he is toxic. Which sadly mean so are his children.

  4. Lauren says:

Maybe Andrew went for a visit and the Sussexes were nope. Either you visit him at his palace or you move out.

  5. Elizabeth Regina says:

Well, well, well. So the servants quarters didn’t work out for the blood princess? Or maybe the tabloids were wrong and it was only a temporary thing whilst they were renovating their real apartment and fitting out the nursery. Waiting for incoming articles bashing Meghan for Eugenie’s decision in 4,3,2,1.

  6. Snuffles says:

Maybe they couldn’t afford the rent and maintenance costs.

  7. PrincessK says:

Everybody seems to be putting 2 + 2 and making 10.

We do not know the nature of the agreement. It looks like it was a temporary thing. Eugenie probably did not want to move temporarily in with her parents.

    • Snuffles says:

Yeah, maybe the Kensington Palace apartment needed some work (baby proofing and the like) and they stayed at Frogmore while work was getting done.

      • Amy Bee says:

Maybe but if it was supposed to be a temporary move I think it would have been reported as such. Anyway, if reason for moving to frogmore was because of work on their KP home we’ll find out when the royal accounts come out next year.

      • Becks1 says:

@AmyBee – I’m wondering if this is because they didn’t want too many questions about those repairs or any work done on KP, especially as Harry had just paid back Frogmore. (i.e. work was being done on KP that Eugenie had no intention of paying back, and they didn’t want that to be made public at this point in time and they’ll deal with the fallout next year when the royal accounts come out.)

      • Yvette says:

@Amy Bee … Since the story was first reported as ‘Eugenie gets keys to Frogmore’ as if the Queen had taken the property away from Harry and Meghan, I’m thinking the British media made up most of the story–especially the ‘furniture moved out during the dead of night’ part–because they didn’t have an accurate leak.

The logical narrative is that Eugenie and her husband needed a temporary place to stay while some sort of work was being done to their Kensington Palace home prior to the birth of their first child. Eugenie put a call in to her cousin to see if they might be able to stay at Frogmore during whatever renovation, painting, or nursery construction work was being done, and Harry and Meghan agreed to the temporary stay.

    • RoyalBlue says:

princess that is my thought too.

theory number one is their home at the palace needed some small renovations and updates so they needed somewhere to crash for 6 weeks. the spies at Frogmore, not knowing the full story, spreads lies that they have moved in as if it were a permanent move.

      • Becks1 says:

But then why all the secrecy about it? We got a statement from the Sussexes, right? About how glad they were to open their home to Eugenie and Jack, and BP also commented and said it was a private arrangement. “The Brooksbanks are temporarily staying in Frogmore while much needed repairs are undertaken on Ivy Cottage.” That’s a lot more straightforward than what we actually heard and what apparently actually happened.

      • RoyalBlue says:

becks because of the furor the word ‘repairs’ will trigger. they can’t mention the word for a couple of years.

  8. Sofia says:

Might have stayed there temporarily and so, moving out was always the plan. Maybe they didn’t like staying at Frogmore and thought it was too far away from London (it’s not too bad though IMO but to each their own). Maybe they didn’t find it private enough. Idk I’m just spitting out reasons.

It’s interesting that the Sun are getting more and more exclusives these days. They got this, the initial moving into Frogmore story and William getting COVID. Wooten also got the Sussexit, Peter and Autumn divorce and the location of Bea’s wedding before the pandemic (even though you could argue that was a coincidence and lucky guess)

Wooten was the one who wrote the “rural rivals” story so maybe they dangle that over William’s head. No exclusives for the Mail could also mean why they published their investigation on Andrew

    • Keen Kate says:

I think we all know that KP have been giving exclusives to The Sun since Dan’s Rose story.

Dan’s university friend also works for the Cambridges. The boyfriend of this friend was also exposed by Byline Times as receiving payments from The Sun for selling stories to them about Harry and Meghan.

Last of all, in Dan Wotton’s show (video was floating around twitter) he said that the BRF were the ones giving negative stories on the Sussexes to the British media, as the BRF don’t like them. He basically told on the Cambridges/KP.

    • Well Sofia —— Andrew’s gotta make a living somehow —- thus all those Sun exclusives. As to the Daily Mail focus on Andrew this week —- well William had to get the royal choo choo stories to go away. This family eat their young and their old and anyone in between.

Also —- just thinking 🤷🏻‍♀️—- the stories were always that Harry let Eugenie move into Frogmore; but, I’ll bet the stories about Eugenie’s leaving will focus on painting Meghan as somehow to blame.

  9. Amy Bee says:

I think someone was incandescent with rage and demanded that granny kick Eugenie and her husband out. I agree with Kaiser that Frogmore is worth more to the royal family if it stood empty. It gives the media the chance to continue to smear Harry and Meghan which is what the family wants.

    • Harper says:

HRH Incandescent throwing a fit seems likely because we don’t have a reason why they moved out. If it was only a temporary move due to updating their Kensington digs, then why not publish that information? But if this tip is from Willileaks, then he is not going to tell the whole, ugly, behind-the-scenes story of how he got back at Eugenie and hubby for consorting with the enemy and blindsiding the senior royals by making them move out.

  10. Keen Kate says:

Eugenie is pregnant and will most likely want to give birth in London, so Kensington Palace would be better than living in Berkshire (traffic!!).

Additionally, Eugenie’s KP apartment was probably being worked on and she stayed at Frogmore for peace and quiet.

    • FC says:

This is my take, too. She’s giving birth in London and wants to be closer to her hospital. I’m more curious to see where she ends up after she has the baby.

  11. equality says:

Since anything that happens at Frogmore seems to get reported even if it happens “in the dead of night”, perhaps they felt spied upon.

  12. Snuffles says:

@amybee I disagree. I doubt the tabloids knew anything about what, why and when and therefore couldn’t have reported such.

  13. Ginger says:

I think this just proves that Harry and Meghan should never use Frogmore again . Clearly someone is spying on the property and reporting back to the tabloids.

  14. Sarah says:

    Haunted yoga studio.

    Ghosts AND blaming Meghan.

  15. S808 says:

That was quick. I’m leaning towards them being pushed out. H&M had their things removed, you don’t do that if your lending your home only for a few weeks. I think E&J were going to be there longer than they were. I don’t think the location of the home was a surprise either. I’m sure they’ve visited before so it wouldn’t have been a surprise. Maybe it’s the fact that it’s in a flight path but I can imagine that H&M let them know that. Their home is probably smaller than Frogmore so I doubt the size was an issue. It just had a complete overhaul so I doubt it was cosmetic. Maybe there’s something I’m not thinking of but I wouldn’t be surprised if they were made to move out so Frogmore could sit empty. If there’s activity there, folks watching it have no idea if that activity is E&J or H&M. Also Mr. & Mrs. Keen weren’t made aware and that just won’t do.

    • Keen Kate says:

Eugenie grew up in Berkshire, so she would be used to the county and planes.

I think that the Sussexes had special windows put in to counteract noise. Also, there’s hardly any planes flying in the UK/plane noise at the moment and that’s been the case for most of this year.

    • We have only gossip that there was an exit move by Sussexes in middle of night. Maybe they were having a few things shipped to Calif. Maybe Eugenie was moving some personal items in. Maybe it was always short term. None of us know and the Sussexes’ statement was vague because it is a private matter and nobody’s business. I saw something yesterday in a short article about Eugenie being back in London —— I think Marie Claire, UK —- where Eugenie was quoted as saying they might go back to Frogmore at a later date. I think the tabloids will be thrilled to fill the vacuum of not knowing with all manor of ugly BS about the Sussexes.

  16. LahdidahBaby says:

Whoa, Eugenie and Jack look like sibs–such very similar eye-shapes, hair, skin, lips, and teeth in the second pic down, where she’s not wearing make-up.

    • Keen Kate says:

Yes, I thought that! Lots of people are attracted to those with similar features to themselves. Check out Benedict Cumberbatch and Sophie or Stella McCartney and her husband.

  17. Gruey says:

If I had to put down money I would say it’s as simple as Wilileaks throwing one too many incandescent keen tantrums. He and Charles control much of their financial fate, after all.

  18. TheOriginalMia says:

This is weird. What pregnant woman wants to go through two moves in 6 weeks? Nah, bet there was some behind the scene raging because Eugenie & Jack went to Harry & Meghan for a favor. Bet Andrew & William were both pissy about the optics.

  19. WintryMix says:

I don’t really find it credible that this was the plan all along–if that were the case, the public statements on the matter would have said as much, since that would have been very straightforward and readily understandable, certainly more straightforward than what WAS said.

TBH my first thought was “ghosts,” but thinking rationally, what seems most likely to me is that the Queen insisted on this. Having them live there was a daily reminder of Harry and Meghan’s generosity and that they were done dirty by the royal family over Frogmore. I could see her pressuring/ordering Eugenie and Jack to move.

  20. Abena Asantewaa says:

I will take Kaiser’s reasoning. The RF wants the property to stand empty, so they vould smear The Sussexes for it.

  21. Vanessa says:

Their apartment in KP was being renovated and now it is done. No mystery except the press continuing to make a fuss over anything remotely H&M related.

  22. Mumbles says:

If the Queen wanted to give the impression that the Sussexes were awful to leave Frogmore empty, why would she have even okayed the Brooksbanks from moving there in the first place? Keeping it completely empty would have better accomplished that goal.

    • Nic919 says:

Maybe the Queen was fine with Eugenie being her neighbour but William was not.

      • Jumpingthesnark says:

You know, if Betty was fine with her faves daughter living in Frogmore, you’d think she’d tell Normal Bill to step off when he got incandescent about it. I wonder where the line is where she pulls rank on Wills.

  23. Jilly says:

I have wondered about the ‘loaning’ to Eugenie and her husband for a while. The Queen gifted it to Harry but in the end is it really HIS to loan out? I wondered if maybe once the deal was done she was like no. Cant do. Not really yours Harry to give to people. Only the queen can do that! (Eye roll).

    • Nic919 says:

Harry has the right to sublease the property but the earlier stories certainly seem to suggest that the queen or her courtiers were fine with letting Eugenie and Jack stay there. However, if this was kept from William, I can see him interfering. He’s definitely trying to push his weight around lately.

    • Lorelei says:

I could understand that reaction if they’d given FC to, for example, the Mulroneys or something, but this is another one of the Queen’s grandchildren. And she’s pregnant, no less! I absolutely believe that William could have forced this by bullying but the Queen should have shut it down if that was the case. We know she’s non-confrontational, but FGS grow half a spine and have one of your lackeys break the news.

I don’t think this was the plan all along because all of the possible reasons given— finances, noise, distance, etc. — they knew all of that six weeks ago when they moved in. I hope there isn’t some issue with her pregnancy requiring her to be closer to her doctors in London.

Just when I think they couldn’t possibly be more petty than we already know they are, I’m immediately proven wrong!

  24. Amelie says:

I’m going to go with ghosts lol. Most likely it’s a logistical reason. Maybe Eugenie is seeing a gyno in London and realized she’d rather be closer to her doctor for appointments? Maybe they realized it was too far from their social circle (though they shouldn’t be socializing with COVID). Maybe they realized it wasn’t practical for their living situation. And maybe there were ghosts in the attic and the clanking of chains and Eugenie and Jack were like “Yeah we don’t need to deal with an annoying ghost.”

I really don’t see how their living arrangements would be William’s business or the Queen’s? They don’t need official permission to use it if Harry and Meghan are the main “tenants.”

  25. kelleybelle says:

Whatever the reason I’m sure that they will use it to drag Harry and Meghan’s name into it. You can bet money on that.

  26. Soupie says:

I’m going with she needs to be close to London due to her pregnancy. I wouldn’t wanna be a 1/2 hour or more away from my hospital and doctor with a first labor and delivery.

  27. Sunday says:

idk, it’s the holidays, and (irresponsible, selfish, privileged, or just plain dumb) people are still planning on traveling. My theory is that Eugenie & Jack wanted to stay at KP (either for the holidays or indefinitely), one or both of them tested positive and had to quarantine before they’d be allowed on the property, they decided to use Frogmore to quarantine, KP was pissed about it, and so the cycle plays out.

honestly, for their sakes I hope it had something to do with a Covid-needed isolation, because the alternative indicates actual insanity. What people are positing above is that Eugenie and Jack made a deal with Meghan and Harry to move into Frogmore behind the palace’s back, the palace found out and was so incandescent with rage that they made E&J move out immediately? That level of blatant, public pettiness does the royal family absolutely zero favors, it just makes the rest of their PR moves look that much more obvious and dilutes the efficacy of their entire strategy. The whole thing is head-scratchingly bizarre, but IF the royal family really made them move out just to be petty then they’ve lost the plot for good and the cannibalization of comms strategy in favor of self-serving pettiness will be their fatal blow.

  28. Linda says:

A blind on CDAN is hinting it was a dispute about the rent. But CDAN does not like the Sussexes so I don’t believe it. Renovations to their home in Kensington Palace makes more sense. Nobody wants to live in their house during renovations.

    • Becks1 says:

Dispute about the rent also doesn’t make sense because you would think that would have been agreed upon before they moved. Maybe they talked about it but nothing was set in stone, but after they moved in Harry was like, “so you can send the rent to X account” and Eugenie was like, “excuse me?? I am a BLOOD PRINCESS And will not pay your rent!!!”

To which Harry replied, uhhh, I’m a blood prince and I’m higher up in the line of succession than you. Pay or move out. and they moved out.

While it was kind of funny to write that out, I doubt that’s what happened, lol.

  29. Maria says:

Maybe they had second thoughts about being too close to the pedo. Anyway, Beatrice is in London.

  30. Annie says:

So much royal gossip here. It’s like being in the uk

    • SomeChick says:

Hi, you must be new here. Welcome!

The BRF is such a hot mess that there is always something to gossip about.

  31. Lizzie says:

Do we know for sure she ever moved in or just taking the dm’s word on it?

  32. betsyh says:

That overwrought quote from an inside source sounds like the malicious Lady Colin Campbell: “It is empty again. Why does no one want to live in Frogmore Cottage? What is wrong with the place?”

She wrote a book about the Sussexes, so of course she is an expert on their doings.

  33. Blerg says:

Any chance they were just gettjng renos done to their place in Kensington?

    • Sunday says:

That would make sense, but I thought there was confirmation from a Sussex source that verified that they’d moved in? That’s the confusing bit (to me). As far as I recall, this was the timeline:

      1. Stories of moving trucks at Frogmore “in the middle of the night.”
      2. A few claims that Frogmore was being prepped for Harry who would be returning alone. These are run along with stories that H&M have covered rent on Frogmore as well as the renovation debts.
      3. The story about Eugenie & Jack moving in to Frogmore.
      4. A source “close to the sussexes” confirms that E&J moved in to Frogmore.
      5. The media says that the royal family was BLINDSIDED by this arrangement.
      6. Eugenie spotted in or around KP.
      7. Now this latest story of E&J already moving out.

To me, the bit that doesn’t fit is the confirmation from the Sussexes. If they DID confirm, then E&J moving out does indicate some sort of bizarre scandal. If they didn’t confirm (or their words were twisted) then the only thing that doesn’t fit is that the media were clearly the ones who were blindsided by the arrangement, but otherwise maybe E&J just wanted a 2-week break in the countryside to relax, or needed to quarantine away from KP for some reason, or any other temporary reason. It’s the apparent back-and-forth on the permanency of the arrangement that makes the whole press narrative stink to high heaven.

    • Becks1 says:

I went back and checked the earlier stories about this, and the quotes from the Sussexes spokesperson/office seem to be pretty clear – about how Frogmore will remain their official residence in the UK, they are delighted to offer it to Eugenie and Jack as they start their family, etc. At first the quotes were from “a source close to the Sussexes” but there are a few direct quotes from their “office” and BP also issued the statement that it was a private arrangement between the Sussexes and Brooksbanks. The Sussex statements though seem to imply that it was going to be a longer arrangement than a few weeks.

I’m wondering if Eugenie needed to be closer to her hospital (if shes delivering in London) and her doctor and it was decided that they should move back to KP.

  34. Snuffles says:

Just to add onto the pile on of speculation. What if, the Queen told Eugenie it was OK to move in but didn’t clear it with Harry? Then Harry was like, sure…the monthly rent is….then Eugenie balked and moved out. 😜

    • sassafras says:

I like this theory because it is totally how dysfunctional families work.

      Also there’s a ghost.

  35. booboocita says:

Honestly, my first thought was, “vermin.” And I’m not talking about Andy.

  36. Sandra says:

OMG talk about sensationalist. Can you be more dramatic. And by the by… it’s with REGARD to, not REGARDS. #murica

  37. Likeyoucare says:

What ever happen, i hope Eugenie make a statement to clear harry from any scandal about her moving back and forth from her apartment and frogmore.
It is atleast she can do after harry offered her help.

    • STEPHANIE says:

This chick has never made a public statement about anything in her life.doesn’t even have a public secretary

  38. The Recluse says:

My guess is that she wanted to be in London for various reasons.

  39. L4frimaire says:

It’s a mystery, a Royal mystery. Why did they quit Frogmore? Did they really quit Frogmore? Are the Sussexes secretly there? Where are Miss Marple and Poirot when you need them.

  40. Bibi says:

The thought of Harry & Meg’s making bucks by renting out Frogmore was inconceivable. Stomp feet. Queen was appalled that they used her gift to make profit on her grounds.
(Or maybe are they just leaving for becuase somebody caught covid and they had to go move away? or have they decided to confine 2 weeks back to their old appartment where there’s nobody before xmas becuase they have plans to see their family at xmas)

I AM HOPING THAT THE QUEEN WILL REGIFT FROGMORE TO EUGENIE AND SOMEONE WILL HAVE TO PAY BACK HARRY AND MEGHAN FOR THEIR RENOS!!! LOL
