Will people in the Trump White House receive coronavirus vaccines this week?

President Trump Briefs on the Coronavirus Pandemic

From what I understand of Operation Warp Speed, it actually is being organized and implemented by competent public health officials. But Donald Trump destroys or corrupts everything he touches, so who even knows. Operation Warp Speed wasn’t just about funding a coronavirus vaccine, the program is also tasked with implementing the vaccine programs across the country, which includes creating a hierarchy of who gets the first rounds of the vaccine. The first rounds should absolutely go to healthcare workers, essential workers and residents in assisted living facilities and nursing homes. The first rounds of the vaccine should absolutely not go to the employees of a lame-duck Nazi administration. That was the original plan, apparently – the Trumpers were going to get vaccines this week. But now Donald Trump says that he’s pulling that plan:

President Trump said on Sunday night that he would delay a plan for senior White House staff members to receive the coronavirus vaccine in the coming days. The shift came just hours after The New York Times reported that the administration was rapidly planning to distribute the vaccine to its staff at a time when the first doses are generally being reserved for high-risk health care workers.

Mr. Trump, who tested positive for the coronavirus in October and recovered after being hospitalized, also implied that he would get the vaccine himself at some point in the future, but said he had no immediate plans to do so.

“People working in the White House should receive the vaccine somewhat later in the program, unless specifically necessary,” Mr. Trump tweeted, hours after a National Security Council spokesman had defended the plan. “I have asked that this adjustment be made. I am not scheduled to take the vaccine, but look forward to doing so at the appropriate time. Thank you!”

It was not immediately clear why Mr. Trump decided to change the policy, or whether he had even been aware of it ahead of time. But White House staff members who work in close quarters with him had been told that they were scheduled to receive injections of the coronavirus vaccine soon, two sources familiar with the distribution plans said. The goal of distributing the vaccine in the West Wing was to prevent additional government officials from falling ill in the final weeks of the Trump administration. The hope was to eventually distribute the vaccine to everyone who works in the White House, one of the people said.

It was not clear how many doses were being allocated to the White House or how many were needed, since many staff members had already tested positive for the virus and recovered. While many Trump officials said they were eager to receive the vaccine and would take it if it were offered, others said they were concerned it would send the wrong message by making it appear as if Trump staff members were hopping the line to protect a president who has already recovered from the virus and bragged that he is now “immune.”

[From The NY Times]

Yeah, it doesn’t matter if the virus has already raged through the Trump administration several times, all of those people will need to be vaccinated at some point. But not this week. Not next week either. Not during the last 37 days of this lame-duck Nazi bullsh-t. If anything, the bigger priority should be vaccinating President-elect Joe Biden, Dr. Jill Biden, Kamala Harris and her husband Doug, and any of the seniors working for the incoming administration. But, again, I don’t even believe that the Bidens should be getting the first few rounds of vaccines. The priority is, 100%, doctors, nurses, medical frontline workers and seniors who have been in lockdown this year.

Actual sentences? He didn’t write that tweet.

  2. Izzy says:

The same people who cost thousands of lives by calling it a hoax?

Nah, they can go last. Dead last.

    • Esmom says:

Seriously. The chaos and dysfunction of this White House is just unreal. That anyone thought it was a good decision to give themselves the vaccine first is just one example.

    • escondista says:

Agreed. Just give Joe and Kamala and their team the vaccine and fumigate the white house – i dont care what happens to the current occupants.

  3. Lauren says:

I would honestly be surprised if they aren’t already vaccinated.

  4. FancyPants says:

Aren’t they all immune already now that they’ve all been infected? [THEIR logic, NOT mine.] I 100% think Joe Biden should be vaccinated before he moves into the coronavirus cesspool that is the White House.

    • H says:

Yes, I agree too. Joe and Kamala NEED to be vaccinated. If something happened to Joe…I don’t even want to think about it. His taking office is the only thing keeping me sane.

  5. Amy Bee says:

Isn’t Trump an anti-vaxxer? I can see him demanding that his staff be among the first to take the vaccine so that he will be “protected” from getting the virus from them.

  6. Ann says:

They are all definitely getting it first and there ain’t shit we can do about it. The most evil, disgusting, undeserving scumbags our country has ever known are either already vaccinated from over the weekend or getting the injection as I’m typing this.

Silver linings: trump is probably doing everything in his power to make it so Barr and his stolen Justices won’t get it first. This also means they get to live through the pandemic, which is good cause you can’t rot away in prison if you’re dead.

  7. Roo says:

So it wasn’t dangerous or serious for the American population, but the pandemic is serious enough for the WH to jump the line and receive the vaccination first? No UV light or chlorine treatment for them instead? GTFO! Those grifters can’t leave fast enough as far as I am concerned.

  8. Miranda says:

If you worked for the Trump administration, you should not able to get a vaccine. Like, ever. You don’t get to believe in science only when it’s convenient. You don’t deserve any protection from the disease that you ALLOWED to kill hundreds of thousands of Americans (and it WAS deliberate; there’s literally no other explanation for maskless indoor conventions, ceremonies, and house parties during a pandemic, unless you’re actively trying to infect people). You probably don’t deserve ANY vaccines, really. Now of course, we can’t allow these human petrie dishes to mingle with the decent, responsible people, so…rocket straight into the sun? I guess I could settle for volcanic island in shark-infested waters, if we absolutely MUST.

  9. Lightpurple says:

The adult Trumps should be the last people in the US To receive the vaccine.

    • H says:

Haven’t most of them had it? And not a one of talking about giving blood for antibody treatments. They all can rot.

  10. FHMom says:

This makes me so angry. I have a disabled brother who has not left his house in over 9 months except to go in the backyard. He would never survive Covid because of respiratory issues. He is asking every doctor he has if he can get this vaccine ASAP. I’m sure he won’t get it until late spring. These Covid deniers do not deserve to get pushed to the front of the line. I am all for Joe and Kamala getting it, though. We need them healthy

    • Emm says:

I am with you, my daughter has special needs and she would never survive pneumonia or anything affecting the lungs because she is non ambulatory. I have already asked her ped about it since we have been isolated for 10 months and she said she knows nothing and I’m just scared because she’s not in the hospital all of the time they won’t think she is sick enough to get it so we will be stuck isolated for another 10 months.

    • liz says:

So much the same! My sister leaves her house once a month – to go to the local hospital for the chemo infusion that keeps her alive.

I have no problem if the WH vaccines go to the butlers & cooks & janitors who will be staying on to work during the Biden Administration. But if Treason Barbie gets one, heads should roll.

  11. Alexandria says:

Why would they believe in the vaccine if they don’t believe in Covid? I think the sane people should troll them and tell them the vaccine is fake.

  12. beff says:

It’s my understanding that because the vax is 2 shots, it takes about 1 month to achieve immunity. I 100% support WH staffers being vaccinated BEFORE Biden begins his administration.

And trust, I never give low t the benefit of the doubt on anything.

  13. MCG says:

Ehhh…he’s the worst but it is my belief that 4 doses should be saved for the current President/VP as well as the incoming President/VP. I am more concerned with his little bit about “I am not scheduled to get the vaccine at this time”. Is that pettiness? Clunky wording bc it was written by an intern? Or is this bish trying to signal to his people that the vaccine is (fill in conspiracy theory here).

  14. Ariel says:

He is of course lying. He will be first, and let his lackeys and “loyalists” be first.
They all know the virus is deadly. They just pretend it isn’t for reasons i can’t wrap my head around.

  15. Marigold says:

I abhor Trump, but I believe it is normal that the “leader of the free world” be vaccinated early on. In normal times, you would not want your president to get sick. I say normal times, because obviously this President doesn’t care because he hosts super spreader events non-stop.

    • beff says:

I agree. The current admin is garbage, but there are hundreds of people who work at the WH, regardless of who is POTUS. In order to keep Biden and his Cabinet safe, the staff need to be protected.

    • Traveler says:

If he had ever performed his duties as leader of the free world with noble intent I would agree with this logic but he has acted more as an enemy of the nation than not.

  16. Apple Tart says:

They host super spreader events, told people that their rights were being violated wearing a mask. But expect to be first in line for the vaccine. OF course they expect it first. I always assumed the rich would get their hands on it first. Through networking and connections.

  17. Asking for a friend says:

Pretty sure he doesn’t understand what “appropriate” means.

Upside would be that he could convince the minions to take a vaccine, thus helping to end the pandemic. But I agree they shouldn’t be at the front of the line.

  18. jferber says:

I take this new statement as a P.R. lie and conclude that all the Trumps and their families and White House loyalists WILL get vaccines today. ‘Cause that’s how they roll. Can’t wait for all of them to slither out of the White House before Jan. 20. Nothing but mayhem, lies, death and madness from these mofos.

  19. Traveler says:

It takes a staggering level of inhumanity to minimize the suffering and death of thousands of people the way this WH has encouraged their cult following to do. Any one who denied or fomented denial deserve nothing……………only blame.

  20. holly hobby says:

No, these bozos do not get the vaccine for something they claim doesn’t exist. Sorry.

  21. Juniper says:

I truly believe Trump is saying this so he can put the Bidens in a position of looking “greedy” if they get it first. I think the President-Elect and the Cabinet should get it immediately. I have mixed feelings about Trump and his ilk. Especially because of the position they have put the rest of us in.
