Felon Chris Brown will headline Jackson tribute concert in Vienna

Chris Brown
Chris Brown was just announced as one of the headliners for a Michael Jackson tribute concert in Vienna later this month. This will be Chris Brown’s first public performance since his February pre-Grammy Awards party, after which he beat the sh-t out of his girlfriend, Rihanna. I know this is getting old, but when does this motherf-cker’s community service begin? Can a guy on five-years probation and six months of community service just make a headline-making jaunt to Vienna? As it turns out, he can. He just needs a judge’s approval to leave the country. Eh. Our justice system is so screwed up.

The concert will be held on September 26, at the former imperial Schoenbrunn Palace. The whole thing has the approval of the Jackson family. Jermaine Jackson praised Chris, saying “Michael was his idol and he (Brown) dedicated his first number one hit in the U.S. to Michael. Chris is a very, very talented artist.” Mary J. Blige, Natalie Cole and Sister Sledge have also been named for appearances, with more names to come.

Mary J. Blige, Chris Brown and Akon are among the first group of artists announced for the September 26 Michael Jackson tribute concert in Vienna being put together by the late pop singer’s brother Jermaine Jackson.

Organizers also announced that veteran acts Natalie Cole and Sister Sledge will perform outside the 17th-century palace of Schönbrunn in the Austrian capital, with more names slated to be announced later this week at press conferences in London on Wednesday and Berlin on Thursday.

The first group of performers also includes boy band US 5, protégés of imprisoned boy-band impresario Lou Pearlman, and actress Angela Bassett, who portrayed family matriarch Katherine Jackson in the TV-movie “The Jacksons: An American Dream.” According to organizers, Bassett will “impersonate one part of Michael Jackson’s life.” A total of 20-25 acts are expected to take part in the concert, which will be televised around the globe.

The show will be the first live performance by Brown since his sentencing last month for the beating of ex-girlfriend Rihanna in February. Brown, 20, an avowed Jackson devotee, was sentenced to 180 days of community labor work, a year of domestic-violence counseling and five years of probation in the case, but he can travel outside the country with a judge’s permission, lawyer Mark Geragos told CNN’s Larry King last week. Akon worked with Jackson on songs for what was to be the King of Pop’s long-in-the-works comeback album.

The performers will be backed by Jackson’s touring band, with whom he’d rehearsed for weeks before his untimely death on June 25 at the age of 50. The dancers for his planned This Is It concerts in London will also be on the bill.

Jermaine will sing a virtual duet with his late brother that he promises will be a “magic moment for all who loved his music.” Among the songs that will performed by various artists at the event are “Man in the Mirror,” “Billie Jean,” “Beat It,” “Thriller,” “Black or White,” “Earth Song,” “Smooth Criminal,” “Bad,” “Dirty Diana,” “Will You Be There,” “You Are Not Alone,” “Remember the Time,” “Heal the World,” “The Girl Is Mine” and “Scream.”

The palace’s grounds can accommodate more than 65,000 fans, who will watch the proceedings along with Jackson’s family and children. The 165-foot-wide stage will feature massive LED walls that can slide together and apart and a runway that allows performers to walk through the audience.

Sounds totally legit, right? Not so much, according to MSNBC. Apparently, “ticket holders should be wary. The fine print on the show’s Web site makes no guarantees that any performers touted will show, and if they don’t, there’s no getting your money back.” According to MSNBC’s sources, there is no certainty that any or all of these artists will appear, and yet all ticket sales are final: “Any refund or discount due to the performance or non-performance of a specific artist is hereby explicitly excluded.” I really hope Chris Brown fails to appear. I hope a judge denies him, rips up his passport and forces him to begin his community service and counseling RIGHT NOW.

I just clicked in to write “Abusers, Unite!” … but I see I wasn’t the first to think that.
    -that’s comforting.

I get filled with some serious rage when I see photos of that ahole wearing the “OOPS” necklace. I know they say all those things about karma, but I really can’t wait much longer for things to come around and for him to start paying for what he has done and said.

  5. Beth says:

Given Mary J. Blige’s history I can’t imagine that she would be in the same room as Chris Brown.

  6. Guest says:

As if! He should be denied for now.

  7. J-Lin says:

Give it a rest. This man has a right to earn a living. Even Riri’s dumbass realiazes that. Get over it. Chris will be get bigger than any of you sitting behind a keyboard crying.

  8. hatsumomo says:

Why dont you start channeling your anger and frustration into something productive and volunteer at a woman’s shelter? Rhianna isnt the only abused woman in the world. Just a thought.

  10. Persistent Cat says:

Sure he has the right to earn a living but I would have a hard time respecting or supporting any female artist that chooses to share a stage with him.

  11. gg says:

Apparently Chris Brown is feeling the need to go potty, since he cannot let go of his hold on his own little pee-pee. Jerkoff.

I have to admit I too am feeling a twinge as I look at him wearing that oops necklace, patting his boyhood. It’s a shame Rihanna doesn’t have a huge, pissed off big brother to deal him privately. I wonder if he’s ever taken a beatdown himself in the face to see what it feels like.

  12. jeannified says:

When was this picture taken of him…last night? Wearing an “Oops” necklace?! This guy is so brazen, it amazes me! I can’t believe, either, that this guy is getting to perform at the Michael Jackson tribute. Our justice system IS screwed up, if they allow him to leave the country to participate in this show. The judge claimed that she was on to him, but then they let him out of the country. I hope Riri never lets him back in her life. She’s a fool if she does!

  13. Diane says:

He has a long five years ahead of him. The price for avoiding jail and full responsibility, media attention.

  14. Iggles says:

Disgusting. And just when I think the Jacksons could be more opportunistic..

Jermaine will sing a virtual duet with his late brother that he promises will be a “magic moment for all who loved his music.”

    Twisted. As. Frak.

Boycott abusers Charlie Sheen, Josh Brolin, Sean Penn , Chris Brown, William Hurt … add to the list

  16. Debbie says:

I wish we could go back to the days before the beating when I had no idea what a Chris Brown was! Those were the days…..

  17. Skins says:

His first #1 Hit?. When did this clown have a number one hit? I follow music pretty regularly and I had never even heard of him until he beat the crap out of that chick. Also, very classy, walking around with your hand on your crotch. Just shows you can get ahead in show biz with no talent

  18. Prissa says:

Are those stonewash, skinny jeans?? Gosh he’s a TOOL!

  19. abigail7881 says:

Why do all rappers and male r&b singers constantly have to have their hand at their crotch? are they afraid they are going to lose it? Its like a woman always grabbing their chest.

  20. Ronnie says:

How long must a person pay for their sins. Chris Brown was went to trial, a punishment was giving, and he is expected to complete the sentence. I am by no means stating that we should forget what he has done but really how long should he be made to pay. This young man did an unspeakable crime, and he is now trying to get on with his life. Let him serve is time by honoring the court appointed sanctions and if he violate them then yes off to jail, but in the meantime let’s let him try and become a productive young man in our society earning a living, paying his taxes, spending time with his mom and family, friends and love ones. This young man is very talented and by the looks of things he will go on dispite all of the folks that are stuck on his past mistakes. You folks need to move on and if you like keep an eye on his efforts to maintain his court order sentence as that at this time is his current obligation.

  22. Whitney says:

His rep said this information was erroneous via Eonline. Will you be updating this post? Better yet is there a CB post quota? I thought we wouldn’t have to hear anymore about him after the sentencing. Guess i was wrong.
