Much to the surprise of the British press, the American media broke a story about Prince Harry. Harry was seen, photographed and video-recorded riding atop a double-decker bus in LA on Friday. With him on the bus? James Corden and a film crew. You can see the photos here at TMZ, which was the outlet to break the story. My first thought was “I wonder if it’s some really advanced promotion for the Invictus Games, which got pushed back another year.” Like, that seems to be the only reason why Harry has, historically, been in the mood for playful television appearances, to support one of his causes. But according to People Mag, he was filming some Carpool Karaoke. Hm.
Prince Harry and James Corden got together this week for some socially-distanced fun! The longtime friends were photographed together on Friday afternoon, riding around Hollywood on an open-air double decker tour bus, a source confirms to PEOPLE.
“They taped a COVID appropriate segment of Carpool Karaoke on the double decker,” a second source adds. “They have been friends for years and had a great time. A lot of joking around and laughter. They toured Hollywood and James showed Harry some special landmarks. They also chatted about Harry’s life in the US and his focus now,” the source shares.
In addition to a camera crew, the pair had a police escort and Harry’s personal security team was also present, the source notes. Not present for the day of fun was Meghan Markle, who stayed behind at their home in Montecito.
Meghan hasn’t been seen out in public for a while. I think I know why, but I also know why they aren’t saying anything, so that’s that. As for Harry’s thing… I mean, I’ll watch it, and I bet Harry finds a way to make this charitable or issue-driven. But I’m also sure that all of the royal courtiers and correspondents are going to lose their sh-t about how “Hollywood Harry, who lives in a mansion, would rather spend time with James Corden than British soldiers!” Or some such nonsense. F–k that noise.

Yes that’s “what everyone is thinking”… thanks to this post. It went out of its way to draw attention to the possibility Megan is pregnant. Bringing it to everyone’s attention, but not saying the exact words, isn’t respecting the Sussexes’ privacy.
I, for example, had no idea before reading this. That would’ve continued since the People article only says Megan wasn’t there that particular day. There was absolutely no need to bring attention to the length of her absence, let alone saying there’s a reason for said absence and the couple’s silence about it.
I wish I could see Won’t and Kant’s faces when they sit down to watch this. Harry living his best life and having some fun in Hollywood.

James Corden is well known in the UK as a comedy actor. There is nothing new in members of the royal family connecting with entertainers in joint ventures and in some cases developing personal friendships. The Cambridges filmed a special TV show with Mary Berry in 2019 :

I wonder if William was accused of being “too Hollywood” when he sang karaoke with Taylor swift and Bon jovi. Of course not. I do think Willie and keen would love to be ‘hollywood’ though. I can see it in Keens eyes when she’s at the BAFTA’s every year. They have their own entrance where the audience has to stand as they walk in. Keen looks absolutely delighted at the attention she’s receiving, even though it’s super awkward cos the audience is deadly silent and there no applause.
This started right after the wedding, when they tagged on a trip to LA after Canada. The British Embassy had to scramble to put together a reception for them, and invited all the top A list actors. I remember a big deal being made about Kate (in that lilac gown, with the diamanté belt she wore with her after wedding reception gown, the one w/the furry bolero) meeting Nicole Kidman and Reese Witherspoon in particular.
I still love that dress, I think it’s the best she’s ever looked.
I wonder who convinced Mary to coo about how in love Will and Kate were and “you can tell how proud he is of her” and that they were a “pigeon couple,” (together for life). *Ugh* She was definitely put up to it. This was after all the press Harry and Meghan were getting for holding hands and touching each other. It just sounded so forced.
A lot of people say this is for Invictus but I highly doubt it. The games were moved to next May so it wouldn’t make sense. It might be for their foundation or just a simple interview. It’s February sweeps so this is a big deal for James. Maybe that’s what it is for? I’m excited either way! I actually hope it is carpool karaoke, I enjoy watching those and Harry would be perfect for that.

He’ll always be “too” something- too Hollywood, too political, too outspoken, too outgoing, too emotional, and too disruptive , at least for the British press and the royals. They are deeply invested in things staying exactly as they are, and will never be satisfied with any amount of light-dimming, so it’s best not to bother and please yourself. This took me years and years of my life to understand, and Harry’s already living it! Good on him.

You know… I think this would happen (but to a *MUCH* *lesser* degree) with anyone Harry married. We saw the way the BM started tearing into Chelsea, and to a degree, Cressida. They did it to Fergie, too (though it was much more deserved there, esp. a few yrs. into the marriage).
But they will tear down anyone that comes into “competition” with the Heir(s) and spouse(s). NO ONE can “outshine” them in ANY way, but ESPECIALLY when they can just by being who they are. Even if Harry married Chelsea, they’d still tear her down to build up Duchess Dolittle. Can’t outperform the FFQ! Not in intelligence or work!
Now granted, Meghan was/is being treated MUCH, MUCH worse due to race and nationality. MUCH worse. But I really don’t think that anyone Harry married would be given a smooth ride. Perhaps a bit of a “honeymoon” period w/the press, but then it’d be gloves off (unless she became a brainless mannikin who just “performed” on order and did *just* what she was told to do and no more).
Exactly. He and Meghan should both do as they please. There is no point in placating to the demands of those intent on being outraged no matter the action or event. I honestly do not really care whether he was doing it for charity or a business venture. He can do as he please with his time. He doesn’t have to answer to anyone. Before he was married to Meghan, he used to hang out with celebrities quite a lot. No one had any complaints back then.
Chelsy was treated way worse by the tabloids than Kate. She was always portrayed as being drunk at clubs but Kate was not, even though she didn’t have a job and was literally spending all her time at clubs. Chelsy did manage get a law degree and worked as a solicitor for a few years, which is a real job and not the “part time for six months but always available for William “ nonsense that Kate did. And they basically called Chelsy ugly when they compared her to Kate. So yes Harry’s wife was always going to be treated worse.
What kills the tabloids though is that all they have to attack Meghan with is racist and xenophobic tropes. Meghan is more accomplished, more eloquent, more intelligent, more ambitious, more self sufficient, more dedicated to charitable causes, and she is more glamorous. Anyone looking at the two objectively sees the obvious differences. So instead they attack Meghan’s qualities as a bad thing as if being a silent submissive doormat is a good thing. That’s why they look like idiots.

I love Carpool Karaoke! I’m guessing this is going to be a mix of the Avengers bus tour and Michelle Obama’s Carpool Karaoke segment. Even on the Avengers bus tour he got the whole group to do a call and response sing a long. In Michelle’s she talked about her educating girls in poor countries initiative and they sang the charity single associated with it.
This was on top of them singing and just having an amusing chat. Michelle was very game and has a great sense of humor. She even returned to play dodgeball to promote her book and her Let’s Move initiative.
So I imagine this will be a combination of Harry talking about his new life, Archewell, Invictus, Travelyst, etc. in a fun, casual environment with someone he’s close to and comfortable with. I mean, it’s been a year since he left, and a good 6 months since he bought a house.
The article said James was going to show Harry around to tourist spots. The vibe will probably be like from one British expat to another and having fun with James showing Harry around to his favorite LA spots.

Harry is riding the bike I’ve been looking for forever. No gears. Pedal brakes. BIG swoop to get legs through. Not too tall off the ground so feet can still touch. And a basket. To any Harry/Harry adjacent person: I kept falling off my electric bike so gave it to a friend. I want a SIMPLE bike, the bike of my youth. My dogs and I would be FOREVER grateful. No one carries a simple bicycle anymore here in YVR, BC, Cda. Not Cdn Tire, none of the bike shops (we’re MOUNTAIN BIKERS…or TRAIL RIDERS, or BMXers. We don’t have anything for anyone that just simply wants to ride to the grocery store and back). Nothing for older ladies. It’s discouraging. So please, Harry et al, please may I have your bicycle?
Electra bikes is your friend. Flat foot technology, pedal breaks and some of their bikes are single gear.
If your feet don’t comfortably touch the ground while sitting on a bike the frame is too tall for you – regardless of the type of bike. Bike frames come in different sizes. If the frame is too short or too tall, it’s difficult to pedal effectively. I’m surprised they didn’t know this at the bike shop. But yes, cruiser bikes are great, especially if you’re not dealing with hills. If you are, a three speed with coaster brakes sounds perfect.
Gail, what you want is a touring bike which bike shops still carry. I know, I’ve been yearning for the one of my childhood days myself. And it’s on my bucket list to get it with fenders, a basket and a bell, the whole package!
