New questions arise about how Prince William shut down the Rose Hanbury affair story

The Duke And Duchess Of Cambridge Attend Gala Dinner To Support East Anglia's Children's Hospices' Nook Appeal

On Monday, the Duchess of Cornwall and Duchess of Cambridge were separately and suspiciously photographed in cars, driving various places, on the heels on the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s Oprah interview. On Tuesday, Prince Charles stepped out for an in-person event at a predominantly Black church, in what was a pretty obvious, tone-deaf and stupid photo-op. This also happened on Tuesday: Prince William was seen driving around – somewhere – looking like a weepy colonizer.

I don’t even think he looks “tearful.” He looks like he’s about to be incandescent with rage at a traffic light. Anyway, all of these carefully staged “car photos” are on purpose. This is the royal family softly coming back following the interview. They’re desperate to be seen, desperate to shift the narrative, desperate to have people talk about something other than their deplorable clown show. For William in particular, he doesn’t want people to focus too much on certain things Prince Harry said or intimated during the interview, one of which is that Kensington Palace was happy enough to do a massive amount of damage control on William’s behalf when it came to the Rose Hanbury affair story. When the same communications office would do nothing to protect a pregnant woman who was being smeared for months.

It’s a rumor that hasn’t reared its ugly head since 2019 — but Meghan Markle’s explosive interview with Oprah Winfrey and the revelations she and Prince Harry shared about the royal family’s failure to offer them any basic protection from the media or otherwise are forcing us to look back on a royal theory that once loomed large. In early 2019, rumors began to spread — quietly — that Prince William had been cheating on Kate Middleton during her last pregnancy with once-good friend Rose Hanbury, the Marchioness of Cholmondeley, whom the Cambridge couple had been noted to be seeing less of by that spring. Wherever tidbits pertaining to this alleged affair did appear, though, they often seemed to disappear soon thereafter, prompting inquiring minds at the time to wonder what invisible hand might be reaching out and silencing these rumors. When In Touch published an article on the rumors that April, the hand became more visible: William’s legal team reached out to any UK outlets repeating similar details and threatened them with legal action. So, tell us again how the royal family couldn’t keep Meghan Markle’s personal life out of the tabloids?

While Harry and Meghan told Oprah that royals offered them nothing more than the advice to “lay low” when the most damaging coverage of Meghan was being splashed across the front page (and the Duchess was far from out and about), it seems that William had far more protection at his disposal when it came to rumors that damaged him and his family. Notably, William had the privilege of launching a counterattack before his rumors were even allowed to become headline news in the UK, rather than Harry and Meghan’s forced option of litigating damaging headlines retroactively.

Given the UK’s stricter libel laws than those in the US, In Touch was the first to publish a cover story on William’s alleged affairs, which allowed the Prince to put out something of a pre-emptive strike on UK outlets following suit via his legal team. His lawyers sent out warnings about these “false and damaging allegations” and noted it would be an invasion of the royal’s privacy to repeat these claims — even a Sunday Times reporter deleted his tweet confirming that “everyone knows about the affair” after suspected intervention from William.

Daily Mail, hardly known for their propensity for dispelling rumors, ran a counter-story denying the cheating allegations too, for many a clear sign that the royals had invested in a PR campaign to keep this story from ever being legitimized. And to be clear: we’re in no way bashing the dispelling of false rumors that ought to be clarified. In fact, this is exactly what Harry wanted them to step up and do for Meghan. These affair rumors are coming up again not as an attempt to paint William in a bad light, but to prove the royal family’s true power to control the tabloid narrative — when it wants to. When it came to Meghan Markle, the royal institution told the Sussexes it couldn’t help. Looking around them, the Sussexes simply felt that wasn’t true.

[From Yahoo]

Well well well. If only British outlets would run these kinds of stories. If only British outlets would do stories about how William’s legal team and communications team effectively quashed any mention of Rose bushes in the UK press. But if those British outlets did that, they would also have to admit the blatant quid pro quo, the deal struck between William and the British tabloids, which was that the tabloids would bury speculation and stories about Willy’s wandering sceptre and in return, Kensington Palace would provide them with smears and lies about Meghan. KP wouldn’t and couldn’t turn around and DENY the stories they had planted, now could they.

    He looks like he sneezed.

  2. My3cents says:

This is a bit off topic, but who wears a mask when driving alone? Unless this was an obvious photo op?
Yeah , and Kate did the same thing too. Very creative place PR.

    • Ang says:

To be completely fair, Kate was being driven, so the mask was necessary.

    • Alexandria says:

Shame. Which royal wants to show their face after that interview? So the mask is the next best thing.

    • Nanny to the Rescue says:

This isn’t to defend William, but I often do, if I come from one place where I need to wear one, and going to another place where I’ll need it again. I keep my mask on because it’s still less dirty than putting it down on some surface, or in my bag, or in my pocket, and then back on my face.

      • sa says:

I do too. If I’m going from one place that I’ll need a mask to another place I’ll need a mask and it’s not a long drive, I’ll just leave it on even if I’m alone in the car.

      • GraceB says:

And it’s also possible he had security in the back of the car but I haven’t seen any other photos, so I don’t know whether he did or not.

      • BayTampaBay says:

I wear a mask while driving especially if I am running errands and making many short stops.

      • Wiglet Watcher says:

I wear a cloth mask over a disposable mask so cleanliness isn’t as much an issue.

    • Naomi says:

i noticed that too — funny how when they want to cover their faces in shame, masks are suddenly convenient. but when it comes to public health, they could care less!

    • Becks1 says:

I noticed that yesterday and I assume its bc there were RPOs in the car, but it still looks funny considering how random their mask wearing has been.

    • Chicken Tetrazzini! says:

Was his security in the car with him?

      • Wiglet Watcher says:

You’ll often see a few security vehicles with him if he’s alone in the car. It happens often.

    • C-Shell says:

Whatever the rationale, these two have been everywhere during the pandemic, maskless, and face to face with vulnerable people, front line workers, crossing borders for the COVID Train Farce. This is performative, and as some have said, a good way to hide their expressions, while making sure to get those PR photos.

      • Nicole says:

So what you’re saying is that Harry’s interview was very helpful to the Royal Family because it got them back in line and doing their (only remaining) duty – setting a good example.

    • Jaded says:

They have to have at least one RPO in the car so mask-wearing would be mandatory.

    • McGee says:

I actually wear a mask even if driving alone. It goes on before I exit my house and stays on till I get home— as a way to prevent cross-contamination, etc.

    • BodegaBay says:

I wear a mask while driving alone so I don’t touch my face. It’s a physical reminder to not rub my nose, not do my one-handed “wipe down” gesture that I tend to do, not cover my mouth if I see someone almost get hit, not absentmindedly scratch my nose or anything similar.

    • swirlmamad says:

I swear they are only doing it to hide any facial expressions, not to be covid careful.

    • Bread and Circuses says:

I wear my mask constantly outside my house because once I get it tweaked into the exact position where it won’t fog up my glasses, I am NOT messing with it again.

I suspect all celebrities are embracing mask-wearing during the pandemic. If the paparazzi don’t get a good photo, then the photo they do get is less likely to find a home in a tabloid. It’s an easy, criticism-proof way to deprive a really predatory industry of its food supply.

  3. josephine says:

I know affairs are not about looks, but I don’t understand why Rose would want second-hand goods like William, and frankly, I don’t understand why William would be interested in Rose – she’s a skeletor version of an already skeleton-like Kate.

Kate is probably going to be pregnant again soon.

    • Sequinedheart says:

      All. Of. This.

    • Alexandria says:

You already mentioned affairs are not about looks. That’s a start. Someone here mentioned there’s a certain pride in aristocratic circles if you were the mistress of say Prince of Wales. Anyway I think no need to ask why too deeply, some people find the allure of the forbidden fruit (aka affairs) heat up their loins fast. Affairs happen every day.

    • NTheMiddle says:

      Yes! 4th pregnancy in 3-2-1…

    • Nanny to the Rescue says:

William’s appeal (ha…ha…hahahaha) is that he’s the future king, I guess.
I don’t know why the other way around, tho, other than he did it because he can.

      • Stacy Dresden says:

I think Rose is beautiful. Horsey for sure but I like her look.

      • Amy Too says:

I think he chose her because he likes to cosplay at that “normal” aristo life that he wants so much. She lives in a palatial estate, has the best of everything, clothes, cars, vacations, friends, charity work, and money but she doesn’t have to pretend to be a stuck up goody two shoes pillar of the community like the royal family and his wife has to be. She can move around pretty freely and do what she wants. Other aristos actually like her for who she is and don’t just pretend to like her bc she’s a member of the royal family. Her husband is away quite often I think (living is Paris?) and probably doesn’t care what she does. So William can waltz into Houghton Hall and pretend to be a normal aristo for awhile when he’s with her. Plus she’s conveniently located and his type.

She’s probably screwing around with him because he’s close by and she’s bored, no one really likes or respects Kate so who cares about that part of it, saying you f*cked the future king probably gets you some kind of clout, and maybe the fact that’s he’s both angry at the world and frustrated at life, while also being incapable of emotionally attaching to anyone leads to some “intense” physical interactions that aren’t made awkward or overly intimate by any kind of real emotional connection or feelings for each other. They both know they’re using each other to get their frustrations out.

It honestly almost seems like if there are two aristos, of relatively similar age, living near each other, they just go for it because that’s their “aristo” thing. Affairs. Having a mistress. Being a mistress. And the total bankruptcy of the sort of romantic and marital moral values that we plebs have when it comes to relationships and our partners. They marry for different reasons. And then they do this for fun and basically just as a way of “socializing” with each other and proving that they’re so different from us normal people who feel things like love and attachment and loyalty to our partners. It’s been the aristo way for centuries.

    • Sofia says:

It’s not so much about looks but more so for bragging points within the aristos that the Prince of Wales has mistresses and you are a mistress of the Prince of Wales (or future in this case)

      • Bettyrose says:

But I thought aristos look down on the RF? It’s definitely confusing from an outside perspective. But if they spent a lot of time together and had some laughs…sometimes attraction just smacks you unexpectedly.

      • FicklePickle says:

@Bettyrose It’s this weird thing where they maintain the sacred awesomeness of the roles themselves while actively despising the particular family and individuals who happen to inhabit them at this point in time because…they’re not British enough, or aristocratic enough.

These are people that think all non-British aristocrats are inherently inferior to British aristocrats. In order to be British enough your family must be able to trace it’s roots to at least the Norman Conquest (but before is better). In order to be aristocratic enough your family being ennobled needs to at least pre-date Queen Victoria, but pre-dating the English Church’s break from Rome or the Norman Conquest is better.

    • Nic919 says:

There are actually photos out there of Rose looking quite attractive but the one that got the most play was a side view of her and Kate with the smirk from a few years ago which I don’t think was unintentional. There are certainly photos of Kate that aren’t good and if those were used in juxtaposition of the good ones of Rose, her attractiveness wouldn’t be as questioned.

As for William… yeah no hope for him.

      • (The OG) Jan90067 says:

In these photos, from the side, she looks utterly gormless. From the front, she’s quite pretty. Still….Wandering Will sure has a “type”. The Scepter wants what the scepter wants I guess.

And again… the affairs are because he “can”. Like his father famously said to Diana: “I won’t be the first PoW who doesn’t have a mistress.”

    • Harper says:

Rose is more of a complete package than Kate. Google image her, you’ll see some gorgeous photos. And while you are at it, google Houghton Hall, it puts Anmer to shame. Rose is artistic and has staged some major art installations at Houghton as well as partnered with de Gournay to commission a wallpaper line inspired by old rolls she unearthed in the Houghton attic. She is stylish in a boho-chic way, and she is authentically philanthropic. Her fling with Baldimort I would put down to geographic convenience more than anything.

      • J says:

That was my thought – location! Location! Location!

      • UptownGirl says:

@ Harper, I googled her and her husband. My, what a lovely lifestyle!! Her taste for art is impeccable and her manor is stunning!! I watched a little of a video of her husband and he seems like a lovely man and from what I read he is very dedicated to his duty, though he is gone a lot! As for Rose, she looks down to earth and is quite attractive in some pictures I saw. But Baldimort will not be a POW without a mistress, as he is as selfish as a toddler that won’t share his toys!

    • Becks1 says:

Those pictures of Rose from the Houghton Hall benefit are not very flattering, IMO, based on other pictures I’ve seen of her – plus Rose seems to have more personality.

      • Nicole says:

Yes, and people keep posing this as if he is choosing Rose over Kate. He isn’t. He’s choosing both. That’s what a mistress is.. an extra, not a replacement.

    • BayTampaBay says:

I find Rose’s husband David much more appealing, no matter what his orientation is, than I do BPwBT.

With respect to BPwBT preferring “Rose Who?” to Kate, Rose is said to be quite intelligent and she definitely is a true aristocratic partaking in both the “Turnip Toff” set and the London “Luvvie” set.

      • L84Tea says:

I’ve always been with you on the subject of the Chumley’s, BTB. Her husband is handsome in that dashing older man sort of way, and Rose herself is quite interesting. Yes, she has that horsey aristo look, but she’s very cool and has an eye for art. She oozes a lot more personality and flair than Kate does.

      • Sofia says:

I have always been curious about the different aristo sets. I know there’s the polo/Gloucester set, Chipping Norton/Oxford set, Notting Hill set, Chelsea set, Primrose Hill set and Norfolk set at least. Also believe there’s a Mayfair/Belgravia set of some sorts.

      • BayTampaBay says:

@Sofia – Based on what I have read, the Mayfair/Belgravia set is the London set of Charles’s and Anne’s generation and to some degree Andrew’s generation that hung out at Annabel’s in the 1970s-1980s.

@L84Tea – I find David Cholmondeley very attractive. He one of those men whose looks really have improved with age. To me, Rose and David look like a fun cool couple to associate with.

      • Sofia says:

I do think there’s a newer Mayfair set at least – the businessmen/finance people who work/live near the area and their spouses. No clue about Belgravia. But it seems it’s more international anyways.

There was also the Sloane Square set but that seems to have been absorbed into the Chelsea set.

      • BayTampaBay says:

@Sofia – The Sloane Square Set and the Chelsea Set amalgamated. My young friends who follow what is going on in London (Georgia May and The Manners girls) tell me the Chelsea Set is heavy into the “Gram” which, per my young friends, translates to Instagram Influencing for profit.

It is so nice to have a couple of young friends who can translate for me and explain all this to me.

    • Digital Unicorn says:

Nah- she’s still botoxing the sh!t outta her face.

    • AnneSurely says:

Word from a friend whose family runs in those circles has it that the relationship wasn’t with Rose, that she was a cover for an affair with someone else.

      • Jaded says:

Hmmm…..would love to know who the “someone else” might be!

      • Becks1 says:

Oooh!!! Do you have any idea who? I speculated that this was the case at the time (that William wasnt with Rose but with someone else and Rose was being used as cover) and I wonder now how Rose feels about that if its the case.

      • Sofia says:

I’ve also heard this alternative. I remember when the affair rumours first broke, someone said William was also seeing a banker and/or lawyer.

      • Nic919 says:

More than one person said that the affair wasn’t with the woman being mentioned (rose) but someone else.

Keep in mind it was Richard Kay who wrote the first article that made people suspect an affair with William as opposed to Kate just freezing out. Rose. Since we know that Kay covers for Kate and the Middletons, he likely was told to misdirect in his article.

      • Coco says:

Could it be Pippa? Could it be CAROLE?

      • Lionel says:

Could it be … Rose’s HUSBAND?

      • bettyrose says:

LMFAO Coco & Lionel! You’ve both just made this story so much more fun, but if we get a vote, I totally vote for Rose’s husband.

      • BayTampaBay says:

This makes sense to me and I will buy in as I could never see Rose having anything but a neighborly interest in her neighbor William who happens to be Royal and whose grandmother was a BFF with her Grandmother one Lady Elizabeth Longman.

      • notasugarhere says:

That’s been talked about for awhile on here. Rose and Rocksavage giving William freedom to have as many affairs as he wants, under cover of Houghton, 15 minutes from Anmer.

      • BayTampaBay says:

@nota – Glad to see you back!

    • bros says:

both those sisters are married to people over 20 years their seniors-this is how the british upper crust roll- a 36 year old is married to a titled 60 year old and her sister, 38, is married to a 59 year old also titled dude. they produce children and keep the properties and titles going on to pass down generations, and then they get. it .on on the sidelines because these are marriages to preserve wealth and bloodlines and titles and are not normal marriages like we all have.

      • BayTampaBay says:

Marina Hanbury is married to Ned Lambton, The Earl of Durham. Marina is his third wife.

Before marrying the David Rocksavage, Marquis of Cholmondeley, Rose Hanbury dated the eldest son of The Earl of Durham, The Earl of Durham is now her brother-in-law.

And I thought Anne, Charles, Camilla, and Andrew Parker-Bowels overlapping triangles was borderline incestuous!!! LOL!

  4. Oatmeal says:

    Lmaoooooo

And yet all this could have been avoided if they would have left H&M alone after they left

But some institutions gotta eff around and find out the hard way

  5. Amy says:

William doing anything hot and heavy simply doesn’t compute in my mind. He’s among the worst, most boring people and I just can’t imagine he’s any fun in any situation. Rose was definitely laying back and thinking of England….

    • DeltaJuliet says:

That was pretty much my thought on reading this. “Hot and heavy” and Will just don’t go together.

    • Zapp Brannigan says:

Exactly, insipid and lukewarm I can see, but not hot and heavy.

    • Jaded says:

I can see it as more of an “emotional affair” but somehow a bit of rumpy-humpy happened.

    • Emily says:

William is so asexual to me. If he has sex, it’s about power and the bloodline. He exudes as much passion and sex appeal as a cold fish. It’s funny to think he was a sex symbol up until he graduated university.

    • swirlmamad says:

LMAO — same here! I highly doubt he’s any good in that department.

  6. tcbc says:

Why is he allowed to drive?

  7. Neners says:

Oh look! More consequences of shamelessly throwing your sister-in-law under the bus for years on end. They may not be able to talk about it in the UK, but we can! And we will. We so will.

    • Yvette says:

@Neners … I wondered when Meghan said in the interview that “Kate was … upset about some things” during the week of the wedding she meant the Rose Bush?

      • Jaded says:

Could very well be Yvette. Wm may have been busted dad dancing with hot blondes on a boys’ ski trip but Rose is nearly in her own back yard and from what I’ve read it was serious.

    • HeyJude says:

That’s the funny thing, Americans can talk about witless Willy all we want and splash absolutely every shady thing he does everywhere.

So what does he do? Goes and attacks the only American in the royal family, and gets all us Americans good and pissed off at him.

Not the brightest bulb in the royal chandelier is he.

  8. Midge says:

He sure does have a type.

  9. Rapunzel says:

Cue the “human rights violations” excuse by William. Oh wait,…that was an EU law he referenced and Brexit took care of that. These “exits” are bad for Wills, aren’t they?

  10. Noki says:

Prince Charles affair was so sloppy, you would think William would have learned to keep his tighter.

    • KL says:

But Charles got to marry his (well, one of them) in the end and have it praised as a love for the ages. Where’s the lesson there?

In their family, taking what you want and damn the rest wins in the end.

    • bettyrose says:

Yeah, I doubt Charles sees it that way. His affair wasn’t sloppy, his wife was just not falling in line as she was meant to.

    • notasugarhere says:

William has cheated on Kate for almost 20 years now. This isn’t the first time his cheating has been caught and discussed, won’t be the last.

      • bettyrose says:

Is there any sense that William has a regular mistress (a la Charles) or does he like the security of Kate while hitting the strange? He’s a whole different generation, after all.

  11. Kalana says:

Did William make some calls yesterday and not release picture or video of his end of it?

All this has removed the shiny WillandKate veneer that protected them from real scrutiny.

  12. Lurker says:

Also, i was talking to a friend in England in 08/2019 and she had no idea of this affair, I was embarrassed to know so much more than she did.

  13. STRIPE says:

Ding ding ding! We have a winner. Thank you Yahoo.

It’s clear they are perfectly able to not only complain and explain, but take steps to influence coverage. They just refused to do so for Meghan so she could be used as a human shield for Will and Andrew, while she was pregnant no less, with the added benefit of (they hoped) pushing her out of the family.

I love so much that not only did they not win, but that it is backfiring spectacularly.

  14. Seraphina says:

OH shit, things are about to get real very soon. LOVE IT.
Yes, and notice how he is wearing a mask and Cornwall and Kate were wearing masks – to hide their faces. As well they should. They’ve shown us their a$$ now hide those faces.

  15. Gah says:

The driving pap shots are some seriously obvious but low key trolling of Meg’s no license/keys comment.

    These people have no chill.

Pathetic at this point. On another note one of my fave interior design blogs reviewed the interview and the comments section was an absolute MESS.

Just hateful stuff ripping Meghan apart (nary an word about Harry really).

    • Alexandria says:

Actually it’s even worse because if Meghan was the only one who had to surrender her driving license…how do you say it…it’s…it’s…it’s RACIST!

RACIST RACIST RACIST ROYALS WE SEE YOU LONG BEFORE THIS INTERVIEW

      • Nina says:

@whatever. And Meghan was supposed to know this how. We all know here in the States it’s a criminal offense to drive without your driver’s license on you. Every single person makes sure they have it with them whenever they drive. So she would instinctively not drive if she did not have her driver’s license in her possession. But nice try though.

      • Wiglet Watcher says:

        Whatever
It’s been noted no one told Meghan anything about the U.K.. they did tell her she cannot leave her home. She cannot have access to any vehicle keys or vehicles unless it was approved. She cannot be seen.

        It’s a blatant isolation tactic.

    • equality says:

The palace didn’t deny taking her ID though so she obviously has proof.

  16. Becks1 says:

YES I am so glad that outlets are talking about this. It doesnt even matter whether the affair actually happened or not, at least not on a surface level. Here, there is proof that the palace WAS able to silence rumors and negative stories and was able to do it so aggressively that reporters in the UK dont even want to mention William and Rose in the same story.

Beyond that – it matters whether the affair happened because it shows that the palace was willing to silence true stories but not false ones. I definitely think this is something Harry and Meghan kept circling around – that the palace would correct this but not other stories. (this story and the botox/extensions story.)

    • Jamie says:

Exactly! The fact the RF swooped in and have a story killed, regardless of whether or not it’s true, just highlights all the other times they chose NOT to do it.

    • MsIam says:

And it also points out the hypocrisy of the royals because weren’t they upset about Harry and Meghan suing, when royals “don’t do that”, lol?

    • Harper says:

I went down the rabbit hole of the comments attached to the above-referenced tweet by Dr. Sarah Parcek. There was one attached tweet from back when the affair first surfaced that said it had now been more than a month since William had not come home in order to give Kate space. I found that quite telling that Harry used the same word to describe his relationship with William. I wonder whether or not that was the word used among the family– give Kate some space to deal with William.

By using the same word on Oprah, was Harry signaling to William to back off where Meghan was concerned or else he’d let the world know exactly how much space there is between Will and Kate? Also saw recent gossip that they haven’t lived together for a long time now so the Royals all know that is another bomb Harry can toss.

      • Jaded says:

They’re clearly not living together for much of the time – Wm at Sandringham and Kate at Anmer with the kids. Their body language when they have to be together for a visit or zoom call is very telling – rigid, not interacting or looking at each other at all. Compare that to Meghan and Harry who are constantly looking and speaking to each other, holding hands, etc. It’s a sick situation but unless and until Kate meets someone who sets her heart on fire, she won’t budge, she’s in too deep.

      • Emily says:

Is all this king maker, Kate the great coming from William by way of apology or from the Middletons because Kate is afraid of William leaving her? It wouldn’t surprise me if Kate is holding on for dear life. Honestly, she could have leaked the Rose story to get in in the open and force William to end it. The Palace may not come to her defense but her mommy Middleton does.

  17. Liz version 700 says:

The image of PWT in hot and heavy mode….nope no nope need to wipe that away right now

  18. Lesley says:

“When someone shows you what they are like, believe them”

Kate’s sour face and rudeness at last year’s Commonwealth service is one example.

The photo at the top of the article is another. Kate is looking very pleased with herself and watching Rose, whereas Rose looks devastated. Yet only seconds before everything looks fine? Kate is at a fundraising event for EACH which is being held at Rose’s home and thrown by Rose, and yet Kate has obviously said something horrible to Rose to make her look like that.

I’m not believing that Kate is a nice person at all, sorry Meghan.

As for William having an affair with Rose? Maybe he did, or maybe Rose had allowed him space to meet someone else there? Would Rose have allowed the EACH event to happen if she was the one having the affair? I think there is something more happening behind-the-scenes.

    • Nic919 says:

Rose was doing Kate’s work by organizing the EACH fundraiser which makes the smirk worse. Kate was too lazy to do much of anything and Ed Sheeran had to step in too.

But that was a few years ago and I don’t think Kate is smirking right now. Karma has a way of getting to you.

      • BayTampaBay says:

I have read complaints/gossip regarding EACH that the Cambridges try to take credit for all the work of EACH whether they are involved or not because Kate is “The Royal Patron”.

  19. Myra says:

Now, that’s the kind of royal gossip I can get behind. Since none of the protagonists are good, let me get my popcorn.

  20. S808 says:

I’m glad this is being discussed cause whether or not it happened it was squashed IMMEDIATELY.

    • Nic919 says:

I still see de rangers try to pretend that the affair was a story made up by Nicole Cliffe, who got threats for merely speculating a bit on information already provided in various tweets, like from Giles Coren and the BBC lawyer who overhead it being discussed and he media blackout while at court.

  21. Sofia says:

It’s definitely telling that William was allowed to sue lawyers based on his right to have a private life yet when Meghan is not afforded that. Instead she is mocked for setting boundaries.

And I’ve heard the whole “it was an open secret amongst the aristos” too many times now (not just on this site/Twitter) so I definitely believe that if there is an affair, it was known amongst certain people long before we did.

    • notasugarhere says:

He didn’t sue. He had his team of solicitors threaten and fall back on EU Court of Human Rights laws. The ‘right to a private life’ statement isn’t in the UK version of the laws.

  22. Midge says:

The photos of them all driving is meant to insinuate that Meghan could have driven herself to seek medical care. It’s SHADE. Also, it’s quite telling that Charles’ first post interview public engagement showed him interacting with POC! I originally thought William is the racist her brought up future baby skin tone, but Charles doth protest too much with yesterday’s photo op!

    • Faithmobile says:

Why couldn’t it have been both Charles and William who brought up the skin color? This was a coordinated campaign by Charles, Camilla, William and Kate, these are the 4 who had the most to gain from slandering the Sussex’s within the households. I don’t think Andrew would have been able to get close enough(already not trusted) and could sit back and enjoy the benefits without having to lift a finger.

  23. L84Tea says:

This is a beautiful day for H&M because I truly feel the shift happening. Finally. The gauntlet was thrown down by the interview and now they’re all falling like dominos. Piers is out. The Rota has been exposed to millions across the globe with how it actually works. People like Camilla Tominey are getting called out on talk shows as they stare like deer in headlights. Kate was outed as the Mean Girl. And now the Rose coverup is coming out again. I’m getting the feeling that all the clucky chickens are all coming home to roost.

    • Nic919 says:

The Oprah interview has global attention and people in North America definitely were not fans of the royals after hearing what happening to Meghan, because the last time they paid this much attention it was Diana saying the same thing.

    • Midnight@theOasis says:

Max Foster on CNN said the behind the scenes briefings have stopped for now. The bottom line is the BRF/BM/RRs should heed the Sussexes message and leave them the fck alone. The warning shot has been fired across the bow and if they don’t back off and leave the Sussexes in peace, then all bets are off and receipts will be laid bare for the whole world to see.

      • NotSoSimpleTaylor says:

I agree. The Sussexes were magnanimous. They won’t poke the Meghan Bear ever again. She will never (be allowed to) return to the UK but they won’t mess with her either.

      • The Firm insisted on the divorce from the Sussexes. The divorce is now final. The Firm needs to stop behaving like a stalker ex and get on with the job and leave the Sussexes alone. Hopefully, the interview helps them see it’s wise for them to move on and drop this constant smearing.

      • JanetDR says:

@LowCountryLady Exactly! But they are not that bright. I hope this brings the system down in the end.

      • J.Mo says:

@NotSoSimpleTaylor they’re not that smart. Richard Kay and others at the tabloids just won’t quit.

  24. Merricat says:

At the rate those chickens are coming home, KP will have to build a bigger palace.

  25. Amy Bee says:

In exchange for shutting down the cheating stories, KP offered up Meghan. I hope one day the truth will come out.

    • Midnight@theOasis says:

Yeah. Someone posted on another site that it was well known that stories about William would be killed in exchange for information on the Sussexes.

  26. Sandra says:

You guys, Kate had to attend events where her husband’s mistress was invited (ie. the reception at BP and that one country church service to name two). What the actual f**k. Doesn’t William want to protect his own wife from the same bullsh*t his mother had to go through with her husband’s affair with Camilla? No? Great. That’s just great.

    • Cee says:

Do you honestly think he cares? If he did, he would have been DISCREET, unlike his father, and kept his affairs OUTISDE of the neighborhood his wife resides in. But no, he is just like Charles. His entitlement comes first, his wife comes at the end of his priorities. So much for their “love” match.

      • Wiglet Watcher says:

Charles moves closer to Camilla with his official private residence. He did not keep any distance.

    • L84Tea says:

Will does not care about Kate. I do believe they still had a pretty good relationship for the first several years of marriage, but it’s been obvious that somewhere between Charlotte and Louis, things fizzled out. Now he looks like he can barely stand to be near her, and she him–the famous shrug comes to mind…

    • Lizzie says:

They dated for a decade before the wedding, this is the agreement she signed up for. She is still there with her nose in the air so she is doing what she wants to do.
However, if Kate wanted to get out this would be the time to do it. I don’t for a second think she would walk away but there you are.
She shows who she is, believe her.

    • Emily_C says:

They haven’t changed since the Regency. This is the kind of crap the Prince Regent pulled on his wife constantly. But Kate doesn’t have her guts. Harry broke the mold of the royal family by being a man who prioritized his wife and children, and they didn’t know how to handle it.

    • notasugarhere says:

William cheated with Kate for months behind his public girlfriend’s back. Kate was put forward as willing and discreet from a friend who had apparently sampled the goods. She was happy to be the sidepiece, if it gave her a shot at the prince. William has cheated throughout their entire relationship and she accepts it. As long as it isn’t found out, she and Mummy accept it as part of the business arrangement.

When he is caught publicly, Kate gets something big in return. 10 day kid-free trip to The Maldives. Baby #3. Royal Family Order.

  27. NotSoSimpleTaylor says:

Tearful? From my angle it looked more like pure fear has been put into William. The eyes know his life will be falling apart imminently. I’m here for it.

    • Alexandria says:

How do you punish a future future King. If you really wanted me to analyse his eyes, he looks like he’s going to turn into Darth Vader. Glad Harry got his family out early.

He might take this out on his kids…and their spouses…shudder…

      • NotSoSimpleTaylor says:

You punish him by taking the resources he abused away and by letting all of the skeletons in the closet come out. PWT’s extra curricular Rose-bush activities will be far less protected and if that means he gets caught…he better have an apology ready.

As for the rest, I think they will protect George at all costs…even from his own father.

      • L84Tea says:

Exactly. He will still be king, he will still have all the money and palaces. But he will be exposed and humiliated–something the RF HATES.

    • I don’t see anything, but the usual William. Not tearful, not angry, just ‘intense, clinch-jawed as always’ William.

      • NotSoSimpleTaylor says:

He looks dazed to me. Like he got slapped hard by a 94 woman or knows he’s about to.

    • Robin says:

I’m kind of replying to myself from further down about this photo! Looking at it with clearer eyes, it looks like William the lustful aubergine head is looking at the late middle aged woman standing right at the end, in front of the camera. It’s almost with pity and wistful regret. Maybe he’d just ended things with her before getting himself a glass of champagne!

  28. ce says:

Kaiser you do the lord’s work every time you put ‘incandescent with rage’ in a William post. I laugh every time

  29. NJ says:

We even had a clip of an ABC reporter going off about how the palace threatened when she had info on Andrew and Epstein. That clip has disappeared mysteriously.

  30. Emily says:

Another tweet from that archaelogist that got my attention:

    https://twitter.com/indyfromspace/status/1368948698143727616?s=19

  31. Cee says:

You know who I feel sorry for? The Cambridge kids. That’s it.
The rest can have karma eat their asses for what they did to Meghan, Harry AND Archie.

  32. Digital Unicorn says:

Hmm, this is a warning shot to Willileaks and KP. You better not stop the briefings and leaks or we will throw your skeletons out of the closet.

    • BayTampaBay says:

@DU – Who do you think Baldemort fears most, The Daily Fail or the Sussexes?

      • Becks1 says:

The Daily Fail. They know everything and it will be to their profit to share it. The Sussexes would only share it if they needed to for some reason down the road – “stop talking about my children” or something. And William knows that.

  33. Robin says:

I think the allure of Rose, or someone like her, is that she is truly aristocratic. She is the financial equivalent of William, most likely richer, and of an ancient family line. What she has above and beyond him is the freedom to use that money as she wishes and lead the kind of lifestyle you can buy with it. The royal family has money but they can’t be seen to be spending it on fast cars and yachts, let alone jetting around without huge security and public scrutiny. William went after a number of these women but they were wise enough to turn him down – they didn’t need what he could offer, and were not willing to sacrifice their wealthy anonymity. I also think he absolutely hates his ‘job’. Imagine being born into a job you hate. So he has Kate, the last woman standing, who spent years pursuing the life he doesn’t want, who is happy to sacrifice all her freedom to have it, and to have children within its confines and perhaps prolong the misery for his next in line. William must have a certain contempt for his wife and mother in law, fighting tooth and nail for the very thing he wants to escape. My partner, ex prep and boarding school boy and on the outer fringes of these groups, has met Kate skiing with William. He said it was a well known joke that she and her sister were desperate hangers on. It’s a really sad situation. As a sideline, I can never work out the picture of Kate and William at Rose’s party. Is Kate innocently smiling while surrounded by vipers, or is she enjoying the fact that her husband’s mistress is looking like she’s going to fall forwards with guilt?

  34. Rise_Above says:

“Deplorable Clown Show” I fell off my chair laughing. These a*$ hats and anyone who defends, perpetuates and enables systemic and endemic racism, oppression, and stans for the family responsible for ethnic cleansing and genocide needs to crawl back under the rock from whence they came and be quiet. I don’t credit them with an iota of decency because if they had any they’d hawk their shameless and brutally acquired wealth and give reparations to the nations and peoples they have decimated in their imperial colonizer conquests.

  35. Beech says:

How many times have I seen the picture at the top. Does anyone know what happened in the captured image. Baldimort looks uncomfortable, Kate is smirking, Rose seemingly is not responding and Rocksavage seems amused or thinking “oh boy.”. Thoughts, guesses? Anyone?

  36. Alexandria says:

UK white press have zero integrity. There is now a sound clip in Twitter of Times reporter Valentine Low who said he knew that she was ‘very distressed in the summer of 2019 and about her conversation to HR’.

    1) is this legal?
    2) he knew and he still didn’t stop smearing Meghan. That’s low.

  37. Freddy says:

What is the timeline of Wills’ alleged affair with Rose and the bridesmaids’ dress drama? I remember Kate had given birth to Louis shortly before the Sussexes married. Perhaps, Kate, stressed from just having a baby, prepping for a royal wedding AND dealing with a philandering husband caused her to snap at Meghan and make her cry…which might explain why Meghan “making Kate cry” was a better headline than “Kate breaks down over Wills’ affair”…and why Meghan said “Kate was going through some things” during her interview with Oprah….

    • Nic919 says:

One of the stories stated that Kate found out about the affair when she was pregnant with Louis, so Kate having a fit because she was upset over the cheating is quite possible. Which is likely why Meghan tried to be nice about it. But Kate and Carole once again pushed too far so really too bad if she’s miserable. She’s earned it with her own behaviour.

  38. Emily says:

Everything you wrote. William gave the press Meghan to cover up his affair. Charles likely sided with Baldy over Harry because he did the same thing himself to Diana.

    It’s disgusting.

I think Meghan feels sorry for Kate because she’s too weak to leave. Kate is complicit but Meghan pitties her.

    • notasugarhere says:

Kate isn’t too weak to leave. She has absolutely no intention of going anywhere. She accepts the affairs as part of the deal, has from the beginning. She will put up with anything in exchange for title, status, money.

  39. Saucy&Sassy says:

NotSoSimpleTaylor, can they keep Meghan out of the UK? Not that I think she wants to come back, except for the charities she worked with. I could see her checking in with the Hubb Kitchen, etc., without anyone knowing. I wonder what Harry would think about her being persona non grata?

  40. JaneBee87 says:

I love how much Sarah Vines’ neck did not want to be in that photograph with Rose.
