Doja Cat in Cavalli on the maskless red carpet: perfect for the Grammys?

Last night, during the red carpet coverage on E!, Kaiser and I were messaging each other about how terrible it was that none of the correspondents or attendees were wearing masks. It was striking, especially compared to the show where the attendees and backup dancers wore masks. I understand why people would take off their masks for photos, but they were talking to each other. It felt like this was a decision that E! made, which they never acknowledged. It’s very possible that many of them have been vaccinated and don’t want to acknowledge it. However they should still be wearing masks!

Doja Cat was one of the first and most noticeable people on the carpet. She was in this Cavalli gown which was a moto jacket on top with a green and black feather skirt. You can see the double sided tape working on the bodice to hold her in. Her styling is very Joan Jet and was spot on for this look. Doja was nominated in three categories, Record of The Year, Pop Solo Performance and New Artist, all of which went to other musicians. She performed Say So last night and you can see that on the Grammys website. She wore a Jean Paul Galtier futuristic full body suit on stage.

Noah Cyrus was in this ridiculous voluminous white Shiaparelli gown. It looks like a duvet bunched up behind her head. She was nominated in the New Artist category despite the fact that she’s been a nepotism musician for some time. Also she did not look happy to have her mom posing next to her.

Phoebe Bridgers was nominated in four categories but didn’t take home any Grammys. She brought her mom, Jamie, with her, whom I just learned is a stand up comic! That’s really cool. Jamie was the only person I saw on E! who wore a mask, which she pulled down when she was asked a question. Then, Jamie tried to step back when Giuliana Rancic looked like she was going to approach her, and Giuliana told her not to step away! Giuliana has already had covid so she probably doesn’t care. The whole E! red carpet was a mess. Anyway Phoebe was in this cute Thom Browne skeleton dress. She told Giuliana “I wear a skeleton costume all the time, but one of the reasons I do is because I saw this Thom Browne dress forever ago and thought it was so cool and I asked for it. I basically stole it.

It looks like her brother was there too!

Ingrid Andress was another Best New Artist nominee, that category went to Megan Thee Stallion. She was in a crisp Armani Prive white suit with stacked beads draped down the middle. She said that she doesn’t wear dresses and asked for this look, which I love.

I didn’t feel too weird about the maskless red carpet. The artists were 15 feet away from photographers and six feet away from the red carpet hosts, outside. It’s not a situation I personally would feel comfortable being in just yet, but I think it was relatively safe considering how brief the interactions were.

Damn I love that white suit.

Yeah, my guess is almost all celebrities are fully vaccinated by now but they are not going to let you know about that.

  3. Eleonor says:

How old is Noah Cyrus ? Because her face looks too bit plastic?

  4. NotSoSocialButterfly says:

Well, I just learned that I am a Doja Cat fan after strolling through vids of her music on youtube.
    😃

  5. Astrid says:

I”m not feeling any of these outfits, especially the crazy one with feathers.

  6. Normades says:

I hate everything about Dojo Cat’s look. It looks so cheap and tacky. Meanwhile Ingrid is also exposing her front but her whole look comes off classy.

    • ME says:

I have to agree with you. Doja is such a beautiful woman. This look was not it for her. She’s better than this.

  7. Reece says:

    Like the skeleton dress.
    Love the white pants suit!

  8. Mabs A'Mabbin says:

So Miley’S career MO is crazy face, tongue hanging out her pie hole. Her younger sis forging her career from statues. Which is, undeniably, just another side of the Cyrus coin but unfortunate because singers have to somewhat move their faces to sing. But Noah gives it a go in the songs of hers I tried to listen. I’m going to open my mouth really wide and yawn.

Anyone else see Detox from Drag Race when they look at Noah Cyrus?

  10. Tiffany :) says:

At one point during the show, the camera went to Noah Cyrus, who was standing and clapping for the person that just performed, and her mom ducked out and around from behind her poofy dress with the cheesiest grin on her face and started mugging for the camera. It was kind of sad how desperate the mom seemed to get out from behind her daughter and get on camera.

  11. K says:

Doja hit that just right. Amazing look for the Grammy show.

  12. Eli says:

I thought Doja already had Covid which might make her feel okay as to not wear a mask. I have several friends who have had It & they usually don’t wear masks anymore.

    • Jess says:

Covid only gives immunity for a few weeks. It’s super irresponsible of your friends to not being wearing masks.

  13. Heat says:

Even if some of them have been vaccinated, it doesn’t matter. The vaccine doesn’t prevent Covid, and it doesn’t prevent the spread; it only lessens the effects. So, in my opinion, this event was extremely irresponsible and sets a horrible example.
My daughter graduates high school this year and our tailor is making a mask for her out of her dress fabric. It’s going to look fabulous. So the only reason these celebs aren’t wearing masks is out of pure vanity.
Speaking of my daughter…Dojo Cat’s hair looks like the cut my kiddo gave herself when she was 4, using safety scissors.
