Duchess Meghan is no longer working with her longtime agent Nick Collins

Prince Harry visit to Cardiff Castle

While Prince Harry has been in the news all week for his two new jobs – Chief Impact Officer for Better Up, and member of an Aspen Institute commission on misinformation – people are obviously wondering what the Duchess of Sussex is getting up to. She’s gestating a baby girl and she’s working behind-the-scenes on all of their projects with Spotify and Netflix, one would assume. But why assume the obvious when you could spin weird conspiracies about how strange it is that Meghan is no longer working in the same capacity with her agent, the one she had when she was an actress?

Meghan Markle has parted ways with her ‘dream team’ advisor Nick Collins after he repped her for years, insiders claim. Collins has been Markle’s agent from her years as an actress on Suits, stuck with her even after she vowed to quit show business when she got engaged to Prince Harry in 2017, and helped her plan ‘Megxit’. But sources told DailyMail.com that the Duchess is no longer using Collins as her agent, after a giant $100 million Netflix deal, multi-million dollar podcast signing with Spotify and other lucrative business ventures allowed her to hire a new in-house team.

Collins, a partner at leading Tinseltown deal makers The Gersh Agency which represented the former Suits actress for several years, will remain as a ‘consultant’. There is no bad blood between the two, the sources said.

‘It is a very strange development really. Nick has been a loyal friend and confidante for Meghan and Harry over the past few years,’ an LA talent agency source told DailyMail.com. ‘His expertise and knowledge of business matters in Hollywood and contact list is astonishing. While on paper she was not accepting work offers as an actress, other work opportunities and roles did come in through Gersh. And with the upheaval and swift departure from England and business plan needed, many believe he played a key role in helping the Sussexes get the ball rolling in business. He was part of the ‘6’ Dream Team.”’

The source added that Meghan switched Collins’ role as she is not intending to take on any acting roles in the near future. ‘Meghan insists that she has no plans to act presently so he’s not needed to negotiate deals,’ the source said. ‘Make no mistake – acting and voiceover offers are flooding in to the couple. But now they will go to their production company and personal media team. Certainly dealing with any opportunities that way means that the twenty percent commission usually charged by an agent, is saved.’

[From The Daily Mail]

These Mail dumbasses are obsessed with her, my God. They’re obsessed and they have no idea how the industry of Hollywood works, nor do they have any understanding of American politics or California state’s internal politics. So they just guess and try to cast aspersions on Meghan based on their ignorance. Most agents specialize – this one works with actresses, this one works with producers, this one works with screenwriters. If Meghan isn’t acting anymore, she doesn’t need an agent representing her for acting work. It’s that simple. As for the British media’s ignorance of politics…

Intriguingly, Archewell will also partner with a “social impact and culture change” agency Invisible Hand. In a LinkedIn post, the company said: “Earlier this year, Invisible Hand joined Archewell on their mission to drive systemic culture change across all communities, one act of compassion at a time.” Invisible Hand is headed up by Genevieve Roth, who was previously the director of creative engagement for Hillary Clinton’s 2016 presidential campaign. Roth is said to be close to the Obamas through her work on their Let Girls Learn initiative.

Adding to the intrigue is the couple’s meeting with California Governor Gavin Newsom. According to an internal memo from the governor’s office, Harry and Meghan had an “introductory meeting” with Newsom on Oct. 19 last year.

The meeting fed speculation that Meghan may be interested in running for Dianne Feinstein’s senatorial seat; the long-serving senator has filed the paperwork to allow her to run for re-election in 2024, but would be 91 at that point in time.

Lady Colin Campbell, the British royal biographer, told The Daily Beast it would not be entirely surprising if Meghan at least has an eye on a possible political career.

“My understanding is that she has political aspirations and would like to see herself in the White House,” Campbell said. “She and Harry were busy talking about changing the world on their third date, they spark off each other, but it may yet turn out to be a folie à deux.”

The author Penny Junor, who has written multiple biographies of the royals including a life of Harry, told The Daily Beast: “I think she is very political. One of the attractions in marrying a prince was that the royal family would give her a platform for her campaigning. I think politics is the logical next step; and to those who say she has no political experience—well look at Reagan, look at Trump. It is doable with enough backers and enough money.”

[From The Daily Beast]

I’ve said this before, but I will eat my metaphorical hat if Meghan runs for office. She’s not going to announce a run for a California Senate seat, for the love of God. The whole energy behind this is to paint Meghan as conniving, plotting, a political chess master, someone with a master plan to “steal a prince” and then use that royal status to somehow launch herself into the White House. And these people are just so f–king stupid.

It’s as simple as her needs and goals have changed and Nick Collins probably didn’t have the experience to help her in her new chapter.

    • (The OG) Jan90067 says:

Seriously!! My BIL was a writer first, and then an exec. producer for TV. He had a different agent for each.

These people are truly salty enough for the pretzels they’re twisting themselves into to create these stories to fit their misogynoir toward Meghan.

    • Becks1 says:

Well now. You’re just using logic and critical thinking skills. You know there’s no room for that when it comes to Meghan.

      • Cessily says:

Logic like a family who flees viscous media and invasion of privacy plan to take on running for elected office.. lmao because that press would be soooo “nice, fair and truthful!”

  2. Valiantly Varnished says:

Their utter ignorance at how things work not only in Hollywood but in the real world would be laughable if it wasn’t so pathetic. She doesn’t need an acting agent because she doesn’t act anymore.

    • Sunday says:

Yes, and it’s not just ignorance, it’s willful ignorance and intentional spin. That they’re just allowed to try their hardest to misunderstand even the smallest detail and then use it to create these false narratives about political aspirations or illegal vows or whatever is infuriating. At what point can she take legal action? This level of harassment and lying through feigned ignorance can’t be legally untouchable, can it?

      • Golly Gee says:

Exactly what I was going to say. They’re not stupid. They are misunderstanding on purpose to fan the flames.

  3. Sunshine says:

What’s interesting is that none of those “so-called royal experts” ever met Meghan. Ever.
And from what we’re now finding out the family didn’t bother to get to know her either in her 2 years there.
So how can anyone speak for her?

  4. Sofia says:

If she doesn’t want to go back to acting then it makes sense not to keep (and pay) a guy who manages actresses. I imagine voiceover work is something Meghan can handle herself or another staffer can.

And we are back to the President/politics thing lol. Running for office would open her life up to a level that I don’t think she wants. She deals with enough already. Plus I really doubt she would win a Presidency (especially in 2024).

    • lanne says:

This is the media trying to create a narrative for her that they can then write about. It doesn’t matter that it’s not true. They can’t write about her as a Duchess anymore, so they can speculate about her a s a politician. If they do it right, they can get information about her simply by having her answer back to some of their claims. BM is pulling a Josef Goebbels strategy–repeat a lie often enough and people will come to believe it. The problem is that strategy works.

This is just another way of attempting to get her to engage with them: “Oh, you aren’t running for office? Tell us what you are doing then! Otherwise, we’ll keep writing that you are running for office!”

      • Saucy&Sassy says:

lanne, I also wondered if this is just Murdoch trying to push a narrative so that the Orange One can respond to it. It gives him publicity to utter her name. Murdoch really needs to stay out of our Country. He’s made a mess (IMO) of the UK with Brexit, and he should just be happy with that and leave the US alone. He’s done enough damage through Faux News and financing Parler.

  5. DMG says:

To be fair, I would not hate to see her in a top political office and have to meet with Will & Kate on foreign affairs representing the US. And if she were to ascend to the WH and was the POTUS that would be pretty fun to see, especially if Charles was King and Meg/Harry outranked Will and Kate at the time. The optics would be HILARIOUS.

    • Helen says:

I’ve changed my mind. THIS RIGHT HERE is why I want to see Meghan run for POTUS. I am DOWN for that hilarity. Can you imagine the RR? Oh my god.

  6. Myra says:

She has said herself that she will no longer be pursuing an acting career, so having an agent is pointless if she is going to be saying no to everything. I’m sure he has been fielding many offers but she isn’t interested. I do wish/hope/beg she does some voice overs in future because her voice is so soothing. That podcast needs to drop soon.

    • Cecilia says:

Yes yes yes to everything you said! I do hope that maybe someday we see her in a documentary as a presenter (is that what they call it lol?) talking about a cause she’s passionate about. Femicide or maybe food insecurity.

  7. Tiffany says:

Meghan is no longer a actress, he is a agent whose job it is to book work for actors and actresses so their working relationship has ended.

What am I missing? All those words from the Fail and….*stares*.

  8. WithTheAmerican says:

Not to be rude but she’s A level now, and she was C level before, so naturally she would get a different agent if she were to hire someone today.

That whole she plans to be in the White House is a spectacular moving of the goal posts to set her up as a failure no matter what. But I wouldn’t be surprised if she did one day run for office of some kind, she would be excellent as a representative of some kind or Ambassador.

  9. Kalana says:

I could see Meghan being an ambassador about 15-20 years down the line.

  10. NTheMiddle says:

She’s a chess master of hanging the sheets stained with salty white tears out to dry and I love it. The DM’s obsession is ridiculous but becoming more humorous.

  11. equality says:

Why would she want to be a politician when she can be a catalyst for change without the limits of a political office? Nick works for a large agency with many clients. It’s not like he is left jobless and destitute. How do people not get tired of the way over-dramatizing any little thing that the tabloids do?

    • Christine says:

I completely agree with you. Honestly, she’s more powerful with Harry and Archewell, in terms of effecting the kind of change they really care about.

  12. Amy Bee says:

“And these people are just so f–king stupid.”

There’s nothing else to add, really.

  13. Merricat says:

It’s such nonsense, based on their fear of a powerful black woman. I don’t think Meghan has any intention of running for office. I think she gets a lot done without having to deal with bureaucracy, and I think getting things done is part of the point–Meghan has follow-through. Also, in the U.S., women are allowed to have political opinions without having political ambitions.

  14. Andrew’s Nemesis says:

I wish ‘Lady’ Colin Campbell would bugger off. How is anything she says of relevance? She’s a talentless has been who lives off conspiracy theories and the name of a man she divorced decades ago.

  15. Lowrider says:

The Fail’s reporting on anything Harry and Meghan is unreliable and framed in negativity. I think bloggers should stop spreading the DM articles when it comes to the Sussex’s. We know Chuck, Bill and Cathy are in bed with the British tabloids but Harry and Meghan have let it be known officially they will not deal with them.

  16. Rapunzel says:

They are really harping on the WH thing, and truly want us to believe she married Harry to drag him from his family and use him for her political aspirations.

There was a DailyFail article on Harry’s mew Better Up job and it mentioned Meg running for office as well.

Oh and that article on Harry was all about how ” Palace officials will watch Prince Harry’s new roles ‘very, very closely’ to make sure they don’t go against his agreement with The Queen ‘not to trade off his Royal status,’ royal expert claims”

Those fools really think they still have power over the Sussexes. It’s laughable. All of it.

  17. Keats says:

The lighting in that banner photo is so distracting! Harry looks like he was photoshopped in

  18. Rosa says:

Yeah – my friend in the UK acts and writes – has a different agent for each. Daily Fail trying to stir up “Meghan can’t keep staff” vibes.

  19. Mooshe1 says:

What is wrong with these idiots trying to paint Meghan as a politician? I’ll be eating a hat with you if she runs. She can get more done as a humanitarian. They’re such fools

  20. Emily_C says:

Do politicians not regularly meet with celebrities in the UK? I’m not happy that it’s a common thing in the U.S., but it is, and it doesn’t mean much. That said, I’d love for someone to replace Feinstein (and it won’t be a right-winger), so I’ll take Meghan if she wants to. Though I seriously doubt she wants to. I’d rather a farther left person who was not rich anyway.
