Maybe she’s been vaccinated? I remember reading Australia or at least certain airlines servicing Australia required proof of vaccination, but I’m not sure if that’s taken effect yet, or if Portman could have avoided that by flying privately.

Australia, much like New Zealand, is effectively free of the virus. Tessa Thompson did an interview back in January, I think, and talked about how she was quarantining ahead of departure and would then be quarantined again upon arrival at a hotel for, iirc, a minimum of 12-14 days. (I also know some Aussies in LA who are desperately homesick, but can’t afford to foot the bill to travel home who have echoed these details.) Upon testing clean at the end of that quarantine period, travellers are able to leave the hotel and enter Australian society, doing all the things we’re dreaming about, sans mask.
It’s incredibly sad (and infuriating) to think that, had we had a real leader, we could have not only saved hundreds of thousands of lives and millions more from suffering, but been in a similar position.
Exactly my sentiments! Australia and New Zealand didn’t mess around and everybody’s living a normal life now. Two weeks. Two weeks is what it would take, but God forbid that people can’t do what they want every minute of every day, or make a few sacrifices for a short time. That’s not just in the US either. Had this happened early on, there also wouldn’t be variants which are resistant to the vaccine.

Seeing Ivanka’s dumb face again made me remember all the rage I used to feel when I saw any of them and how happy I am that I don’t feel that rage nearly as much now. It’s such a relief.

This is a VERY good question.
Ivanka, and Jared as well, were even worse than useless. They actually installed themselves into unelected offices and benefited greatly by it and still are. There are multiple investigations going on and good reason for indictments coming soon. Would be nice to see a little justice for this family. We shall see I guess.
