Matt Gaetz is not resigning. It’s been a full week of drama around Gaetz, as we learned that he’s the target of a far-reaching FBI/DOJ investigation into human trafficking, statutory rape and solicitation. Gaetz wrote a self-pitying and bonkers op-ed for the Washington Examiner declaring that he has no intention of resigning right now. He makes a few absurd (and somewhat funny) claims in this piece – one of my favorites is that the “Cheney political dynasty” is out to get him. LOL. Here are a few parts:

Just as they once falsely attacked President Donald Trump as a Russian asset, Justice Brett Kavanaugh as a gang rapist, and even John McCain as having fathered a child out of wedlock, they now attack me.

Folks won’t be surprised that bizarre claims are being made about me shortly after I decided to take on the most powerful institutions in the Beltway: the establishment; the FBI; the Biden Justice Department; the Cheney political dynasty; even the Justice Department under Trump.

Yes, just like the mafia, the D.C. swamp protects its “made men.” Since I’m taking my turn under the gun, let me address the allegations against me directly. First, I have never, ever paid for sex. And second, I, as an adult man, have not slept with a 17-year-old.

…It comes as no surprise that my political opponents want to sensationalize and criminalize my prior sex life just as I am getting engaged to the best person I’ve ever known. It is regrettable that the battle of ideas should thus become so personal. But then again, when your ideas suck, you need to stoop this low.

My personal life is and always has been conducted on my own time and my own dime. Consensual adult relationships are not illegal. Although I’m sure some partisan crooks in Merrick Garland’s Justice Department want to pervert the truth and the law to go after me, I will not be intimidated or extorted. The battle for America’s future demands gladiators, and I am going to keep getting back up and fighting, every single day.

…You’ll see more “drip, drip, drip” of leaks into the media from the corrupt Justice Department and others. When you do, ask yourself why. They aren’t coming for me — they are coming for you. I’m just in the way.

Some thoughts: 1) Donald Trump was (and is) a Russian asset. 2) Gaetz doesn’t specifically deny sleeping with 15-year-olds, 16-year-olds or 18-year-olds as an adult man. 3) “Cheney political dynasty” = a former vice president who shot a man in the face and his daughter who had one brief moment of political courage in a career full of bullsh-t, 4) “My personal life is and always has been conducted on my own time and my own dime” – so he does pay for sex, 5) “Merrick Garland’s Justice Department” – yeah, this investigation began under William Barr’s Justice Department, 6) “You’ll see more “drip, drip, drip” of leaks into the media,” ah so there are more terrible stories coming, good to know.

There are also more stories and reporting coming out about Gaetz’s grotesque need to show other men naked photos and videos of the women and girls he was paying for sex. While serving in the Florida legislature, Gaetz was against revenge-pr0n laws, meaning he was PRO-revenge pr0n. Gaetz told colleagues that if he takes photos of his sexual partners, those photos are his property, and he can do whatever he wants with them, which would include showing them to colleagues on the floor of the House.
