Prince William posed for keen photos to prove that he’s been calling NHS workers

william NHS call

Kensington Palace released these two photos (and some videos) of Prince William yesterday. They could not be any more obvious if they tried. The way William posed is so funny to me. They truly made the Other Brother go into the Palace Costuming and Props Department and had him try on blue shirts and they were like “this shirt is too purple, try this one” and “unbutton one more button so you can show your manly chest fur” and “roll up your sleeves so people know you’re keen as you make phone calls.” Honestly, William’s chest fur is making me physically ill, and I’m someone who LIKES chest hair on a man. But this is gross.

The reason why William posed for these pics was because he was making calls to healthcare workers. Kensington Palace wants us to know that William has spoken to “more than 300 healthcare workers across the UK since the start of 2021.” How many NHS workers did he speak to last year, while he and his keen wife were traipsing across the country maskless?

Meanwhile, I ignored this story when it happened over the weekend, but since we’re here… William and Harry have apparently signed off on the final design for the much-discussed Diana statue which will go in the Kensington Palace garden. My guess is that Harry and Other Brother didn’t actually communicate directly, and it was handled by staff:

Princes William and Harry appear to have put aside their differences to sign off the final design for a statue of their late mother Princess Diana. It is the first indication of a healing of the deep rift which was opened further by Harry and Meghan’s explosive Oprah Winfrey TV interview. Concern has remained over whether the brothers will come together at the unveiling of the Diana statue at Kensington Palace on July 1 — on what would have been her 60th birthday. But we can reveal the sculptor has sent it to be cast following feedback from the princes.

The Sun on Sunday previously revealed royal officials thought the chances of William, 38, and Harry, 36, reuniting at the unveiling were unthinkable. But sources said both were determined their project, announced in 2017, would be fulfilled despite their personal conflict. And we can reveal cousin Zara Tindall and her husband Mike have been playing peacemakers between them over the past year.

A source close to sculptor Ian Rank-Broadley said: “It will have been signed off by William and Harry, that much I do know. I know he did work closely with the boys and I think it will be incredible. We’re lucky to have him as an artist in the UK.”

[From The Sun]

The obsession in the British press with this statue and statue-unveiling is so dumb. It’s just another “thing,” like the “one year review” or “Philip’s 100th birthday.” The press – and the palaces – are just trying to get Harry back in the UK by any means necessary. They don’t have much of a plan for what happens once he does visit though.

He is so odious it’s on a cosmic level repulsive. And I don’t mean on a physical level (though that’s part of it) I mean his character. He should just go away for a while. Be silent. And stop competing with Harry.

    • Madelaine says:

Obnoxious, indeed. Please, NHS workers, feel free not to take any unproductive and ostentatiously self-serving call that might slow you down in your activity or eat up on your well-deserved spare time. You’re actually working, guys. Not everyone around you is familiar with the concept.

    • one of the Marys says:

There are so many great nicknames and adjectives for this guy but I really like your odious

  2. Cecilia says:

This is what they brits classify as a working royal? Don’t get me wrong, NHS staff need all the support it can get but come on! Calling them is not going to be enough no is it? Especially since i doubt that these calls were longer than 10 min each.

And about the statue, im not sure harry would actually be able to go to that seeing as megs is due in the summer.

    • nana says:

specially when nurses are only getting a 1% raise this year…

      • BothSidesNow says:

As I was reading this @ nana, my first thought was, why not show your appreciation by supplying and supporting a better work environment and paying these poor people their due? People would certainly be more thankful with extra cash than from an entitled lazy POS that lives off of their tax dollars doing nothing!!

    • Ann says:

If I’m a health care worker at this time the last thing I want is to have to have a dumb chat with Prince William. I want to finish my work and go home.

  3. Elizabeth Regina says:

Sigh! I will keep saying it till I’m blue in the face. This man is layzee. 300 work calls in a year? That’s less than one a day for all of 10 minutes or less! These photo ops are getting beyond stupid now.

    • (The OG) Jan90067 says:

Reminds me of an old Mary Tyler Moore episode where Ted is pretending to be this *really* busy, ‘in-control’ anchor, and he’s running around with a camera man, picking up a phone in the newsroom, pretending to be talking, looking concerned, giving “commands”… lol

Someone needs to tell TOB, “We see you… we SEE *through* you…”.

    • lolalola3 says:

So true! The constant barrage of ‘look how hard working!” or “look how dignified!” photo ops just smell of desperation. Trying to make those two lay-abouts look dedicated to public service is simply laughable.

    • Courtney B says:

It says since January (2021). But the point is still valid. Maybe they’ll count each as a separate event to try and make his numbers look good (for once) this year.

    • Cecilia says:

It says in 2021 so it has been a little over 3 months but even then its probably not more than 2-3 hours a day. Hardly work

      • iconoclast59 says:

It averages out to a little over 3 calls per day (yes, I’m a geek and did the math). Maybe 5 calls per day if you don’t count weekends. I doubt that he spends even 5 minutes on these calls. We all know that he says horrible inappropriate stuff when he speaks off the cuff, so they probably have him keep to a short, tight script: “Hi, this is Prince William. Thanks for everything you do. Oops, gotta’ run — bye!”

    • My Two Cents says:

very lazy, I’ve been retweeting old ‘Wills is lazy’ articles from 2016 (BM Before Meghan) because we know the narrative changed after that. When someone praised him for doing his Kingly duties, I just retweeted Will is lazy and Wills would rather go clubbing over doing Royal work. Just doing my part to help people remember.

    • Anance says:

Not 300 calls, 300 healthcare workers. Probably some group Zoom calls.

  4. caitlin says:

He is aging so rapidly – looking more like Prince Edward each time I see him! Mean spiritedness and a rotten soul will do that I suppose.

    • Gail Hirst says:

I’ve never thought of Prince Edward as mean-spirited and/or with a rotten soul.
I thought he was pretty innocuous, all in all
      What don’t I know?

      • HeatherC says:

Edward is almost 60. The other brother isn’t even 40 yet. So he’s aging rapidly and looks older than he is because of his rotten soul and poor temperament.

      • caitlin says:

Thanks HeatherC for clarifying – I wasn’t referring to Edward’s character, just the fact that he’s pushing 60 🙂

      • iconoclast59 says:

@Gail Yes, Prince Edward is also balding, but he has a much kinder face than Wills. I look at Willnot’s face and think, “Here’s a guy who will totally try to screw you over if you cross him.” I’ve never gotten that vibe from Edward.

    • BABSORIG says:

Bwahahahahaha, 🤣🤣🤣🤣 BullydiAmin Leaks suffers from SORAS (Soap Opera Rapid Aging Syndrome)😁😁. But seriously, who calls 40 year old men “the boys”? I know, I know, 38 and 36 but still, these are married men with kids, c’mon now!! The Brits are weird, why do they insist on calling William and Harry “boys”🙄🙄🙄

      • (The OG) Jan90067 says:

I think they will still call them “Diana’s *boys*” when they are old men, gumming their food, up to and until they day they die.

  5. Becks1 says:

Does he count each phone call as a work engagement? That’s one way to get your numbers up, I suppose.

The drama around the statute is so stupid. I’ve always been of the belief that if it is safe, COVID-wise, for Harry to travel to the UK, that he will do so. I could see him flying in the night before, doing the unveiling, and flying out that same day. Now Meghan’s pregnancy and the new baby may change things , but I think if Harry stays away it won’t be because of William. I know some disagree with me, which is fine.

But its the drama around it that is so eyeroll-worthy. the british press is DYING For them to come back to the UK, and they’re going to use any occasion to guilt-trip Harry into it. They don’t have power over Harry anymore. He’ll come back when he wants to.

    • Cecilia says:

I actually doubt more and more if harry will actually go. Won’t he have to quarantine for 2 weeks if he does go. That means that he would have to leave 2 weeks before the actual statue unveiling at a time meghan could give birth any minute. Doesn’t seem ideal to me. Either it gets postponed or harry will find another way to honor his mother.

      • Becks1 says:

I dont know what the COVID rules will be for the UK or the US at that point in time, which is why I said “if it is safe, COVID-wise for Harry to travel to the UK” and that the pregnancy and new baby would change things.

I just think Harry isn’t going to let his brother bully him out of not being there, if everything else is okay for him to go.

    • Amy Bee says:

@Becks1: Yes every call has been recorded in the court circular as an engagement which is ridiculous. But he wants to show that he’s working oh so hard during the pandemic.

    • swirlmamad says:

I agree that Harry seems the type to not let his brother dictate (or give the appearance that he dictates) whether or not he would be there for something like this, ESPECIALLY as it’s to do with their mother. I agree that it’s all going to be an 11th-hour decision between Meghan’s pregnancy/birth status and the way things look Covid-wise in the UK, but I also feel that he will fly in and out if anything…it won’t be the drawn-out photo-op heavy visit the RRs are hoping for. If the baby is here by then he’s not going to want to stay away long at all.

  6. Lauren says:

So 96 days into 2021 he has called over 300 NHS workers so that’s about 3 (a little more) workers per day. What has he been doing the rest of the time? Talking with reporters about his brother? Lamenting that H&M are living their best life away from him and his toxic family? Pruning rose bushes? Just what does he do with his time when he isn’t zooming, smearing his brother and sister-in-law, calling NHS workers?

    • Kalana says:

      Executive time.

William’s schedule probably looks pretty close to Trump’s schedule.

    • Sunday says:

Interesting that it says he called 300 workers, not made 300+ calls, which tells me that he’s probably been calling entire hospitals or departments, so one call could equate to dozens of workers. He’s obviously the type to take as many shortcuts as possible.

      • Nic919 says:

The court circular will end up confirming if these were individual calls or calls with large groups.

  7. Kealeen says:

His toxic personality is devouring him from the inside out. If you had shown my 15 year-old self that header picture of William, I literally would’ve screamed in horror.

    • Sandra says:

Same. I had a poster of this guy on my bedroom wall when he (and I) were that age. I don’t think the kids are too keen on this one nowadays.

  8. Noki says:

Clearly the general public dont think the royals have any skills or do a y real work, thats why there was such a reaction to when Harry got his ‘first job’. We need a breakdown on what their capabilities are and not just the ribbon cutting.

  9. Cessily says:

That headline and photo literally made me “spill my tea” laughing, thank you for that. Also are we sure Harry signed off? I recall reading that PW had his named signed for him when it suited his agenda and narrative.

  10. Ennn says:

Baldimort and his Keen Kween Guevara are the gift that keeps on giving lmao
On a more serious note, amid a global pandemic these photo ops are the best thing this future head of state can offer his people?? I mean, the Queen is still coasting of off the goodwill and her perceived heroics from WW2, if the Lamebridges were serious they could’ve really done something to cement their legacy this past year beyond Meghan and Harry.

    • My Two Cents says:

this is especially visible now with Harry and Meghan announcing the Netflix Invictus documentary. The comparison is always, but what has Will done? and nothing substantial every comes up

      • (The OG) Jan90067 says:

William has not started ONE initiative on his own in his entire adult life. I don’t think there is even one project he has truly seen to completion, one that he has given 100% of himself *to*.

He gloms on to someone/something already existing, does it for a bit, becomes half-hearted about it, stops showing up, and then drops it. Rinse. Repeat.

Oh wait…the ONLY thing he does wholly is party with his buds.

  11. tx_mom says:

Sorry, I’m American, but I just can’t imagine getting a phone call where I’m supposed to be getting praised and having to call the person praising me “your royal highness” or “your majesty.” No wonder the BRF is so f-ed up when every person who talks to them every day has to say these effusive, weird things!

    • Ann says:

I feel the same way. I mean, if President Biden called me, of course I’d be fine with calling him “Mr. President”…..but he EARNED that moniker. He was elected fairly, he has worked in public service his whole adult life. This guy on the other hand, ugh. And just “Your Royal Highness” sounds so silly to my American ears.

I wouldn’t have taken the call from Trump, though.

      • Emily_C says:

Also president is a job. It’s what he actually does. “Royal Highness” means nothing whatsoever, it’s just fluffing. It was only first made up in the 17th century, too. I would not address anyone as “royal highness” unless I were acting in a play. Also wouldn’t curtsy or bow to a royal — and Brits should stop too.

    • Waitwhat says:

Particularly when he immediately called the woman in the video by her first name, rather than “Ms Smith” or whatever. It’s such a jarring power imbalance, particularly considering she’s the one who’s been working to save lives.

  12. Nina says:

How is he exactly helping them, or anyone, with those calls?

    • Nina says:

Exactly. These poor overworked people have to stop their life-saving work to listen to this twat prattle on. Useless a-hole.

  13. Merricat says:

I used to find the Cambridges a bit embarrassing. I didn’t expect them to be so contemptible. So unnecessary, and now impossible to forget.

  14. Pétulia says:

It’s in line with the photos of Kate Guevara looking at pie charts. No real actions just vibes.

    • lanne says:

She may as well have been looking at pies. 5th grade children make better graphics than that. I was embarrassed for her. She clearly has no idea what work actually is.

  15. Kalana says:

I’m so enjoying that William can’t hide anymore.

  16. Lemons says:

They don’t want phone calls! They want money, They want support! They want YOU to get off your lazy tushes and start vaccinating the public.

    • Nina says:

He can’t ride Harry’s coattails anymore so he latches onto the most popular thing in the UK, the NHS. Exploiting the popularity of others for his own gain. Disgusting piece of sh…t.

  17. Phoenix says:

All they’ve been doing for this past pandemic year is thanking the NHS workers by Zoom calls, phone calls and of course…by royal train! Ok, saying that you are thankful is good, but is it enough? Is that all that you can do or this is probably all that you WANT to do…
I can’t look at William’s face anymore, everytime I see him my whole body just reacts in disgust by him. Such a rotten, vile, ugly person. I’ve always hated that stupid face he has when he wants to act like he gives a f*ck about anything else than himself- he has that constipated looks in his eyes and his nostrils expand. Blah!

  18. Sequinedheart says:

He’s such a creep. Gives off slimey pr¡ck vibes

  19. Erin says:

I know we shouldn’t comment on looks, but I feel it’s ok bc of how much of a tool William is.

His weird tuft of hair on top of his head. Seriously. He’s 38. Shave that sh*t.

  20. Snuffles says:

Harry and William coming to an agreement on Diana’s statue, doesn’t mean they are healing their rift. It just means honoring their mother is the ONE thing they can agree on. On everything else, they are a million miles apart.

They are DESPERATE to get Harry back on UK soil, standing next to William so they can milk the fuck out of it and claim the family rift is healed and that Harry is happy to be home. Because they know Harry will be civil and probably won’t shoot dagger eyes at William the whole time.

Baring one of them dying, this statue is the only thing Harry might consider returning for. I REALLY hope he doesn’t and honors Diana some other way.

    • Jaded says:

Snuffles I think Harry will do a stealth visit on the anniversary of Diana’s death to pay his respects, maybe have a quick visit with Gran and dad, then head back to Montecito without saying a word to Other Brother. Wouldn’t that be a kick in the arse…

  21. Over it says:

His looks are in the toilet drains

  22. Nina says:

Meghan and Harry’s Invictus documentary is coming out on Netflix. It is all over the news here in the States. So their answer to that news is to show PWT with a phone in his hand. OMG, you can’t make this crap up.

  23. Sandra says:

I live for the empty desk “work” photos. They add a giggle to my day.

  24. Chaine says:

Just my personal opinion, but if you work in an office environment, as his 1990’s telephone cosplay seems to suggest, your chest hair should not make appearances! Button that sh*t up and put on a g*****n tie! Jeez.

    • Bren says:

That’s funny. Do people even use landline phones anymore for work? I make work calls through my laptop with a headset or on my cell phone. He’s playing office like we used to do as kids.

  25. Over it says:

Other brother, get the phone, Harry is a bit busy doing real work with real results.

  26. Emily says:

I’m honestly kind of worried for Harry’s safety if he does visit the UK. I hope he stays away.

    • Moxylady says:

Dude. Same. Like they are going to drug him or lobotomize him or something. It’s the royal family. That’s their playbook. It’s so creepy ans scary.
“Let’s do another car crash. That worked out the last time.”
      *shudder*

  27. Midge says:

    Prince NotCharming
Can you imagine having sex with him? I could vom at the image. Harry on the other hand….

  28. Harper says:

I’m afraid that Will has unbuttoned his shirt as part of his Sexiest Bald Man campaign. After Hot Harry climbed the rope in the James Cordon bit Will is countering with the “I’m too sexy for my shirt” photo-op and we are all the worse for it.

  29. Amy Bee says:

Yeah, William doesn’t usually dress like this. This is a man who tucked his T-shirt into his shorts for his Royal Foundation Regatta. It also should be known that each of these phone calls were only 5 minutes in duration, that’s why he can boost that he made 300 phone calls to NHS workers.

The statue unveiling is the big ticket event for the royal press this year so the pressure is on to get Harry to attend. Baby girl Sussex better help Harry out so he doesn’t have to attend this photo op.

  30. MsIam says:

How come this statue story is not considered “leaking”? How can Harry trust his brother and cousins knowing they are ” leaking” to the press like this?! *eye roll*

  31. Ann says:

I am one who never found him all that good-looking. I mean, he’s tall and seems pretty fit, and he had nice blue eyes and really great hair when he was younger. But I always thought his teeth were too big and he was horse-faced. I’m not that surprised he hasn’t aged well. But personality has so much to do with it.

  32. Jay says:

Do you think the PR firm William has hired signed off on this amateurism, or should they send a quick text that their rates have suddenly increased?

  33. nutella toast says:

Top Picture: …”Yes dear. I know you’re stronger than me. I owe it all to you. I know I’ve been bad. Can’t wait for us to rule together. No, Meg isn’t cuter than you”.

Next Two Pictures: “Dearest…a Rose by any other name would smell as sweet. See you at polo later? I have Sandringham all to myself this weekend…YES, I’m a BAD BOY.”

    • swirlmamad says:

I am laughing (and GAGGING) at your second quote…..and I am sure the apple doesn’t fall far from Chuck’s tampon tree so I can totally envision this conversation 😂🤣

  34. Mia says:

    BARF

William is dressing like Harry now 😂

The sleeves aren’t cuffed properly…he literally can’t roll up his sleeves to get to work 🤦‍♀️😆

  35. February-Pisces says:

According to desperate dan wootton (who has now migrated to the daily mail) Willie has “ended his friendship with Tom Bradby”. Firstly I don’t think William has any friends left. Also I find it interesting that even those reporters who have remain neutral seem to be punished for it. I don’t think bradby has actually said anything bad about the Keens, nor has omid, but cos they haven’t trashed harry and Meghan, they are considered traitors. William has become a fully blown tyrant at this point. Do as he says or face the consequences. He’s becoming a dangerous man.

    • Jais says:

@feb-pisces- thank u, some of the reporters that seem fairish but don’t bash Harry or malign Meghan are being painted as sycophants when all they’re doing is not jumping on the hate bandwagon that has become the norm. They are not anything like Dan or Pierce or Camilla and it’s so trumpian to argue otherwise.

  36. MangoAngelesque says:

And you just know this prat is utterly convinced that those workers are absolutely overjoyed to get to interrupt their day to speak with him and hear his words of wisdom. You know he hangs up and looks around the room with a smug smile, gives a nod, and receives the praise of everyone in there, for blessing them. Because of course he does. And he really and truly believes it.

  37. Originals Jenns says:

Remember when Kate had that inane photo op on the phone in her pink suit and classical fairytale books on her business desk? She’s right handed but held her pen in her left while “on the phone”. Isn’t William left handed? And yet, phone in left, pen in right… hey, as long as they can make business faces that the camera can see I guess!

I’m so used to needing to write that it feels natural to have my phone on the left side so I can use my dominate right hand to write, type, etc. (if I’m not using headphones)Really telling what a staged photo op this is. Or, they don’t do enough of it to know any better!

  38. NotSoSimpleTaylor says:

William doesn’t even look happy pretending to work.

  39. RedWeatherTiger says:

His “smile” looks more like the baring of teeth.

  40. Sue Denim says:

this “office” looks like what someone who’s never been in an actual office but has seen one on tv — in the 1990s — would think an office would look like. Or for that matter, what work looks like. There’s nothing authentic about it. Maybe ask a BAFTA friend for some set design expertise next time…

  41. Lizzie says:

while a thank you is always nice isn’t there anything else he can do?

  42. Emily_C says:

I like hairy dudes too — my husband’s pretty much a yeti. But Will’s gross, so everything about him is gross. Also it’s completely unprofessional to unbutton two buttons like that.

  43. Alexandria says:

Why would he care about their welfare when he can’t even care about his brother’s and sister in law’s mental health, and their safety? He and Charles can live with them being dead, so why would he care about healthcare workers.

  44. Rnot says:

Look how dark the circles under his eyes have gotten. I wonder if it’s stress or abusing alcohol/drugs.

  45. swirlmamad says:

“I know he did work closely with the boys….”

THEY ARE MEN. Good God. Get over this obsessive need to freeze them into the 12- and 15-year-old boys they were when their mother died. It’s like these people are living in a time warp.

And Will and Kate need to stop bothering healthcare workers with these pointless calls all the time. Those people need higher pay and tangible support from becoming burned out physically and mentally from a highly stressful and taxing job, not idle chitchat from those two clueless knuckleheads.
