Prince William is mad that Harry is too ‘stubborn’ to be bossed around

HRH Prince Harry, Meghan Markle leaving Westminster Abbey following the Service of Commemoration and Thanksgiving.

As we discussed yesterday, Us Weekly’s royal coverage has gotten pretty good. It feels truthy, and they’ve really done a good job capturing Prince William’s general pettiness and bully vibes. Reportedly, “William feels that Harry has gotten too big for his boots since moving to California — that success and Hollywood have gone to his head.” Baldemort is very upset that his brother is hot, successful, happy and free, and Other Brother is “insisting” that he and Harry meet before they unveil the Diana statue in Kensington gardens this summer. Us Weekly obviously wrote and published this story before Prince Philip’s passing, and it does feel like Philip’s death the big new reset for royal relations. Still, it’s worth talking about this:

Prince William made good on his promise to call his brother after Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s bombshell CBS interview, but according to a source, the upcoming tribute to Princess Diana “was the only topic they discussed” during the tense chat.

“The conversation Harry and William had after the big interview didn’t end well. And yes, they agreed over the statue, but communication between them was sparse and over email and WhatsApp,” the source reveals exclusively in the new issue of Us Weekly.

Harry, 36, and Meghan, 39, who is pregnant with the couple’s second child, made headlines last month after they detailed their time working for Queen Elizabeth II, alleging that they experienced racism, mental health struggles and more. While the Duke and Duchess of Sussex haven’t seen William, 38, or any members of the monarchy since their final engagement as working royals in March 2020, Harry is expected to return to London to install a statue of his late mother, Diana, on what would have been her 60th birthday in July.

“Harry has so much going on in his life work-wise and is busy planning for the arrival of their daughter that he’s trying not to overthink the consequences that may arise upon his return to the U.K.,” the source says, noting that William insists that the brothers meet before the public appearance. “All eyes will be on them at the unveiling, critics will be analyzing their every move and how they interact with each other. He doesn’t believe that it’s feasible for them to reunite in the public eye without showing signs of tension if they don’t thrash out their differences in advance.”

“The statue is to reflect on Diana’s legacy, not their feud, and William wants to keep it that way,” the source says. “But Harry is refusing to meet up with William and won’t be bossed around by his brother. His stubbornness is making a bad situation worse.”

[From Us Weekly]

This summarizes so much about the brothers’ relationship at this point: “Harry is refusing to meet up with William and won’t be bossed around by his brother. His stubbornness is making a bad situation worse.” Harry is being called “stubborn” because he refuses to be bullied and bossed around by his racist clownshow brother. That’s it in a nutshell. The Other Brother thinks he’s the “boss” of Harry and Harry is like “f–k that noise.” Anyway, I had been hoping that Harry would simply avoid the Bitter Island for the rest of the year – Meghan’s due date is coming up and why bother with all of these Baldingham machinations? But Philip’s death really changes that equation. It seems like Harry will absolutely have to see his family sooner than he was expecting when he will be expected to fly in for the funeral. Will Meghan go? Is she too far along in her pregnancy to fly, especially on a long-haul flight from California to London? Hm. But yeah… it’s going to a mess between the brothers, and it’s going to be a mess for the Sussexes in the British press.

This actually summarizes the other brothers problem with harry beautifully. William is not the boss of harry and harry isn’t afraid of william. And william absolutely hates it. I also think that harry informed willy that he won’t be there for the statue unveiling. Which is why we are hearing so much noise about it.

    • molly says:

This is the problem of being raised as the future monarch. William, as the future king, thinks he IS the boss of Harry, simply because he outranks him. In the same way that Charles and the queen are the bosses of the firm, William thinks of everything in terms of rank and status. He’ll always have a better seat than Harry, he’ll always be closer to the front, and he’ll always be more important. Harry is right in that, to his dad and brother, their entire lives are trapped in duty.

      • Lemons says:

Harry understood early that, even if you’re at the top of the food chain, you can still be trapped in your environment. His family cannot adapt. They have learned to survive by being who they are…They will never thrive. Luckily for them, “surviving” is always happening in the lap of luxury, and we see what types of personality disorders that breeds.

Harry is lucky to have gotten out and learned out to live outside of that world in a healthy way. He’s not trying to profit off of others, but he is working with others for profit. I’m into it.

      • NotSoSocialButterfly says:

But, haha! Harry is in the US now, and free from BRF machinations. Harry gets to pick and choose to what he will respond, and Baldemort is beside himself.

      • anotherlily says:

William is not yet the future King. The last two days have put him firmly in his place, behind his father. In family hierarchy William is behind all four children and the two eldest grandchildren of the Queen and Prince Philip.

Over this last year Cambridge PR has been promoting the idea of William as leader and spokesman of the Royal Family. He has now been silenced. Charles is taking the lead and he, Anne, Andrew and Edward have released personal tributes to their father. Family hierarchy does not follow the line of succession. The monarch’s children come before the grandchildren and the older come before the younger.

  2. Seraphina says:

Much like when the abuser is angry at the abused for leaving a relationship. We 👀 you Willy.

    • Elizabeth Regina says:

Absolutely. Hence the rages and incandescence. Abusers are often tenacious and find it hard to give up their ‘power’ over their victim. Thank God Harry found the courage to leave a toxic situation.

  3. Lauren says:

Harry and Baldingham meeting at any single given moment has been a mess for years, only that now everyone has been keyed into why that is. I’ve been thinking also that I can’t for the life of me remember ever seeing pictures of Baldemort and Meghan talking. Not just standing close, but talking. We have seen even Kate Guevara, Betty, Charles, Anne, Philipp, anyone and everyone chatting with Meghan, but never Baldemort. Until they don’t understand why this is Harry will rightfully so never be at peace with his brother and Baldingham con continue to suck on it. Even with Harry going to the funeral I can’t see him staying to have tea and talk with his brother.

    • (The OG) Jan90067 says:

They did once, her first Christmas (pre-wedding), while waiting for TQ to drive by. He leaned over and said something to her.

Also this one, I think it was a Remembrance Day ceremony: https://www.popsugar.com/celebrity/Prince-William-Meghan-Markle-Friends-45230179

You’d never know what was going on before, would you?

      • Lauren says:

Pre-wedding I remember a few because they also had that meeting for the foundation before Harry decided to separate his office and affairs from those of Baldingham, and I completely forgot about that remembrance day. This was around the time that Baldemort was trimming rose bushes and before that pacific tour. So I guess those were the last few peaceful interactions (there were still grumbles about W&H arguing).

  4. nutella toast says:

Anyone here not think that William deep down would like to anonymously fly to Cali, bask in sunshine unbothered and unrecognised except perhaps by a few 20-something adoring girls, party like it’s 2007, not have to pretend to work, and have full freedom?

  5. Eleonor says:

If Willnot wants to boss around someone may I suggest him to buy another dog?

  6. Becks1 says:

Those pictures of William’s super staged “office” will never not make me laugh.

And yup, this is getting interesting bc I think this article is supposed to be a quasi defense of William, but the tidbits that are in it are key to this whole mess – Harry won’t be bossed around by William anymore. Nope, he won’t, and William needs to deal with that at some point. There is one family member who is not answerable to William and never will be and its the person he probably expected would always be answerable to him.

    • L84Tea says:

My favorite thing in that photo is the completely out of place end table with the printer on it. It’s so painfully obvious that they wheeled it out of some flunky with the cheap furniture’s office to borrow to give the appearance of hard working Wills. The only thing he prints are more talking points to send to his pal Dan Wooten.

      • BothSidesNow says:

Also, the drawers are not facing him, they are turned around so that further cements the fact that this atmosphere of a working royal is BS!!

      • Couch potato says:

Not to mention the red bucket under the desk.

  7. Christa says:

But Harry will be called the bully, of course, for not submitting to William. ALERT: someone call for a place investigation!

  8. Harper says:

I love to imagine what Will is really like behind closed doors. LIke, does KP and Sandringham both have the plaster/drywall repair guy on standby for patching up the walls after Will has hurled the nearest vase, statue, landline phone at it in his incandescent fury? Imagine the utter rubble in a room after Will has had one of his temper tantrums about Harry.

  9. Merricat says:

I love Harry’s defiantly amused expression in the main photo: And who is going to make me, Wills? You?
    Lol. Harry’s his own man.

    • Dl says:

This! Harry and William both know Harry can knock the stew out of William and they both know Harry is not afraid to do it!

  10. Sunday says:

Totally off topic, but I cannot believe that the royals repeatedly, publicly announce that they use WhatsApp to communicate. WhatsApp is not secure at all; I feel like every time they mention it they’re basically asking to have their conversations leaked or hacked. At least use Signal, guys!

    • Jay says:

I find this odd, too! It is mentioned so many times, it cannot be a mistake. Unless maybe they use whatsapp as a generic term for group texting, like my mom calls every video communication “skyping” to this day? Otherwise, yikes!

  11. Cessily says:

This entire situation is sad.. I heard an interview that said she was 6 months pregnant at the time of the interview.. (bald guy British news clip) so she is around the 7month mark. I know at her age alone she is a higher risk pregnancy. I highly doubt a heavy travel schedule with the stress of the hostile press would be “medically approved”. Plus when/if they arrive will they have protection? During covid they have to deal with travel, quarantine and gathering restrictions. If they haven’t been vaccinated will they have to be 2 weeks quarantine like Canada required?
I hope whatever they decide they have safe travels and a compassionate press. (Just putting it out into the universe 🤞🏻🙏🏼)
I know the press in Britain won’t cross PW by admonishing the tabloids for what KP has flooded into the papers, but I do hope that news sources in North America (Canadian and USA) see this all for what it is.

  12. Amy Bee says:

If we take this piece as truthful, it doesn’t seem like Harry’s going to be at the unveiling.

  13. Alexandria says:

Let me correct that. TOB is mad because Harry is not beholden or dependent on him. That’s why TOB is such a tyrant. After the Queen dies you will see a worse TOB.

  14. Chaine says:

there’s nothing more pathetic than William pretending to talk on his corded phone under the watchful eyes of his printer and his lamp.

    • Agreatreckoning says:

That’s really funny! Are we able to ascertain if corded phone is even plugged in?

(poor printer and lamp-the things they have to do for the monarchy)

  15. tcbc says:

Can he actually fly out there? Has he been vaccinated and has it been long enough since the vaccination? I just read that travelers to the UK have to quarantine for 10 days upon arrival, so I guess if he’s on a plane now, the funeral will be in 10 days? (Unless they make exceptions for this occasion.)

Just curious about how this will all shake out.

    • Saucy&Sassy says:

tcbc, actually, the US is trying to discourage even vaccinated people from going to the UK. They’re afraid that with the virus variants someone could bring back a variant that the vaccine is not as protective against. Also, the terrorist threat level is such that they’re warning everyone about that, too. I think Harry needs to stay here. He’ll undoubtedly need to quarantine and that would be a long time away from Meghan and Archie. Can’t think it would be a good idea for him to go right now.

  16. Aphra says:

Sorry, but have to laugh at that “office” photo — the giant printer with an ipad propped against it, and the cheap file cabinet with the drawers facing away from the desk! hahahahahaha! It’s like a child put some props together but didn’t understand how they actually worked.

  17. Bibi says:

I think harry just discovered that Harry does what Harry wants and William is certainly not his boss. he is free as a bird agaisnt everything he thought he had to do and to be for william. william is losing grip and let’s hope that other Royals dont get influenced by Harry’s freedoms and start doing whatever they please. Hell is going to break lose once the Queen is gone. 100%. But for now, I think we will see Harry for Prince Phillip and if we dont, the biggest bunch of flowers in the universe will be sent in for him by Harry and Meghan.

    • Elizabeth Phillips says:

You think the Royal Family would allow his flowers to be shown? No, they’ll hide them and say they didn’t send any flowers.

  18. SueBarbri says:

This 100%. I have never seen William be civil to Meghan even once. And if he’s like that in public, imagine how cold he is in private.

Plus, let’s not forget that this week began with William (or anyway, palace PR), attempting to throw Peter Phillips under the bus for his affair or whatever. Now that Harry and Meghan have left the UK, it looks like TOB is willing to use any and every scapegoat he can find. A shame.

    • Jaded says:

I’ve never seen William be civil to his wife let alone Meghan. He’s turned out to be a vicious, cruel little tyrant – Charles would be wise to clip his wings once Betty falls off her perch.

      • notasugarhere says:

He was civil when they knew she was expecting a girl and through the christening. That’s the best he’s ever treated her publicly, that time period.

    • (The OG) Jan90067 says:

I posted a link to a pic of him leaning in to talk to her above (under Lauren, #4 I think?). And she reminded me of another time too…but it was pre-tour. Honestly, a Google of “Will and Meghan talking” doesn’t show up much at all.

  19. Alibeebee says:

I doubt Meghan will go we’re due around the same time… I cannot imagine flying at this stage of pregnancy I’m 45 and going to
    The grocery scares me. I’m
Sure Harry has been vaccinated.. maybe he got the j and j one and done shot and he does have enough available funds to fly private . Perhaps they’ve all flown private which would keep them distanced , safe. And out of visibility… I believe they’d both go if it were for the queen or Phillip / the interview clearly showed deep affection for Betty and Phil

    • FicklePickle says:

Right now in California the vaccine is only available for those with certain higher-risk conditions and those 50 and over. Unless Harry has asthma or something then he hasn’t legitimately been vaccinated.

      • (The OG) Jan90067 says:

Harry’s group’s date for the 16 and above will start next week. Right now it’s still 50 & up. So he will not’ve gotten his vaccine (if he followed the protocols and didn’t jump the line).

The problem is getting the appointment & the news is saying, right now, that next week there will most likely be a shortage of vaccine again. Much more demand then supply (esp of the J&J because of a mixup at one of the shipping plants for it). CA will lose about 75 thousand shots.

      • Kkat says:

He could qualify with a lot of things, like if he is on thyroid medication

My 16 year old son got his vaccine 2 hours ago, we’re in California.
        He is on thyroid medication

  20. Victoria says:

Me, personally, I would not go to that funeral.

When my favorite grandmother died my family was really trying to be shady to my mom due to family fuckery and jealously at her greatness and I told my mother, “Do your thing, but I’ll sit this one out. I will fuck someone up in the church if they even look at you the wrong way.”

I don’t care who or what is going on, you’re not getting a damn thing from me, not even my presence until you act right.

  21. TigerMcQueen says:

“He doesn’t believe that it’s feasible for them to reunite in the public eye without showing signs of tension if they don’t thrash out their differences in advance.”

So why not call him, Baldi? Why not reach out while Harry is still in America? The fact that phones exist makes the whole ‘we must meet in person or nothing will be resolved’ stupid AF.

    • Cessily says:

Maybe he hasn’t mastered dialing or video calling🤷‍♀️

      • (The OG) Jan90067 says:

GASP! You mean, the King of the Zoom call, who’s making THREE WHOLE ZOOMS A WEEK, can’t Zoom with his brother???? I’m shocked, I say, SHOCKED. (not).

W wants Harry face to face to try and intimidate him in W’s surroundings more likely. Can’t do it over Zoom.

    • L84Tea says:

Yeah, I am definitely getting some “photographers waiting in the bushes to get money shots of Harry and William” talking vibes from all this insistence that Harry come and speak with him in person.

  22. Cat says:

You don’t have to be royal to have these kinds of family dynamics. As the youngest of six, in a shared situation as an adult, I always receive the leaky mattress at the foot of someone else’s actual bed, or the room above the noisy kitchen, all while paying the same as everyone else (and of course no apology!) Birth order equals respect. If I stand up to bullying behavior, I’m spoiled, self centered and crazy. If I disagree with my bully brother on anything, I am disrespecting the memory of our dead father. I wonder if William pulls this one on Harry viz. Diana. $10 says he does.

  23. Agreatreckoning says:

Too bad, so sad Will. Harry already said bye bye to your self-appointed hegemony.
