Angela Levin: The Sussexes will be ‘ditched’ from the Windsor klan financially

The Duchess of Sussex talks with Prince Charles at the Westminster Abbey Commonw

This story cracked me up! I hope everyone enjoys this as much as I did. So, as we all know by now, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex quit that bitch in January 2020. They were formally out at the end of March 2020, at which point their security was removed. They moved to California, signed contracts with Netflix and Spotify, got a mortgage on a nice home in Montecito, and they’re now paying for their own lives, security, office, press secretary and everything else. Harry also got a job as Chief Impact Officer with Better Up, a Silicon Valley life-coaching outfit. Oh, and they also have a foundation, which they fund privately. The point is that the Windsor klan said “sink or swim” and the Sussexes swam far away to California, where they’ve been financially independent for the better part of a year. But, according to Angela Levin, Prince Charles is going to “ditch” the Sussexes.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle face being ‘ditched’ from the Royal family by Prince Charles as he streamlines the Monarchy, an expert has predicted. Royal biographer Angela Levin said the Prince of Wales is set to ‘cut the monarchy down’ to save money.

She thinks this could be the point at which the Duke and Duchess of Sussex – who currently live in an £11million mansion in California with their son Archie – are cut loose. Both Prince Charles and Prince William were set to discuss the future of the Monarchy – including which family members should be working Royals – following Prince Philip’s death on April 9.

A smaller-sized ‘Firm’ could see just Charles, Camilla, William, the Duchess of Cambridge, Princes George and Louis and Princess Charlotte as senior royals. Other royals could be encouraged to take on paid work to help support themselves – and may lose their titles and patronages.

Ms Levin said on talkRADIO: ‘Prince Charles has wanted for a very long time to cut the monarchy down to save costs and to make people be worth the money that they got from the taxpayer. I imagine that might be when Harry and Meghan are ditched from being members of the Royal family. I think the outer edge, which the Queen has wanted to keep together for a very long time for sentimental reasons, which at her age she didn’t really particularly want change which I think is understandable. But he wants to change and I think he will do that.’

[From The Daily Mail]

This was so asinine I had to double-check the date of publication, because this was something royal commentators have been saying for two years or more. Everyone knew that Charles would be slimming down the monarchy. Charles believed Harry and Meghan should be part of the core “working royal” group. William and Kate disagreed and tried to bully and exile Harry and Meghan out of the country. H&M left on their own terms, set up their own financially independent lives and now these salty white folks have nothing left to “threaten” Harry about, so they just make sh-t up.

Incidentally, on The Royal Beat last week, Katie Nicholl and Dan Wooton had extensive commentary on a much more pressing issue for Charles and his “slimmed down monarchy” scheme: Prince Andrew, and the Queen’s fondness for her favorite son. Apparently, Charles and William are “united” in believing that Andrew should never be allowed to return to royal work, but while the Queen is alive, she’s going to do the most to try to bring Andrew back. The Queen has even been funding Andrew out of her own private income, and he still has some kind of royal protection too. How much of the “angst” about the Sussexes is just a smokescreen so people don’t ask questions about Andrew?

I know that cows gotta moo but someone should remind Angela that not only have the Sussexes left toxic island, they have deals worth around £200m. They don’t need the royal family or the British press. Quite the opposite.

    • BayTampaBay says:

Did not Harrry say that Charles had already cut him off financially??? What is Angelina Levin talking about????? There is nothing left for Charles III to take away from the Sussexes.

      • GraceB says:

Exactly. They were already cut off so a story about how they’re going to be cut off makes no sense at all.

I have to say I don’t believe for a moment that Charles or William ever saw Harry & Meghan as part of the slimmed down monarchy. I think they both wanted it to be direct heirs only and I suspect that was one of many reasons H&M were hurt but I don’t get why it needs to be brought up again.

      • Cessily says:

        Early onset?…

      • Jan says:

        @GraceB
Harry was always part of the slim down Monarchy.
What Charles and William did not count on, was when he married Meghan, Harry who was the most popular after the Queen would become more popular.
Jealousy set in, and the whipping boy said, enough is enough and quit the Firm.

      • notasugarhere says:

Agreed, Jan. Charles’s plan was always to slim down to Charles and Spouse, William and Spouse, Harry and Spouse. Elderly cousins would be eliminated through death, but Charles wanted to cut out Anne, Andrew, Edward, and Sophie. That’s why he fired the Queen’s private secretary, Geidt, a few years ago. Because Geidt was publicly advocating to keep Edward and Sophie on during Charles’s reign.

The idea to remove Harry and Meghan came from William’s fevered jealousy. Including his jealousy over Meghan’s successful Together cookbook, months after William promised to ‘help’ Grenfell but doing nothing.

      • TigerMcQueen says:

I know. My first thought was to wonder if she’d been living under a rock.

Also, why do they have to mention how much H&M’s house cost every. Damn. Time. They don’t do that with BP or AH, it’s weird and stalkerish AF.

    • Merricat says:

Levin should retire. She seems to be lost.

      • Pepperpot says:

Why oh why did Harry allow this woman to follow him around. She’s been trading off that fleeting moment for years.

    • Lizzie says:

      Thank you for this comment.

    • PEARL GREY says:

Angela Levin needs to take her fish oils because it appears she is suffering from poor memory function. Harry and Meghan have been financially independent for a year now. Don’t tell me with all that screaming Angela did about how Meghan “planned” this all and how she “used and duped” the royals for monetary gain the second the Netflix deal was announced, that she forgot already? Did all that psychotic raving scramble her brain? They left, honey. You can’t ditch people who already ditched you.

    • Kelly says:

@Elizabeth – A lot of people talk about Harry & Meghan’s deals as if they got paid all the money up front. But the Spotify deal, for instance, does not work that way. The deal is worth $100,000 million but they have to produce stuff to get it. They would have been paid a small amount up front, not the $100,000 million so many assume.

With the mortgage on their new house, house & garden staff, and all the security they need, they have a big nut to crack if they don’t want to spend through their existing fortune. This is why Harry was distressed about paying for their security. They have to keep bringing in money.

As far as Charles completely cutting them off, I’m not certain he had totally done that quite yet? I read somewhere that Charles was pissed off by Harry saying he cut them off, because he had been helping them financially if not paying for security, but who really knows?

      • Shahad says:

I agree they will not get all the money upfront but also they don’t need to bring in large sums of money to live and pay for all those things you mentioned. Do you think rich people just stick all their money in savings account? If they invest just 50 million in the stock market, start ups etc they can just live off their dividends or profits.

For example the money Donald trump was left by his dad , had he just invested in stocks and did nothing else he would have still ended up a billionaire without him running the scams he was running and lost money filling for bankruptcy 5 times .

      • Carmen-JamRock says:

@kelly: “Who really knows,” you ask? Well……only just about EVERYONE who has been paying attention to what H&M said in their Oprah interview. Its still available for u to watch again….or for the first time, in your case, apparently.

Youve completely mixed-up timelines and incidences in your post. Is it an attempt at gaslighting?

“A lot of people talk about Harry & Meghan’s deals as if they got paid all the money up front…”
FYI: they received a SUBSTANTIAL upfront SIGNING FEE in anticipation of the returns theyll generate for spotify. Same with netflix. Do you think contracts are a one-way street? Definitely not at that level, sweetums.

“With the mortgage on their new house, house & garden staff, and all the security they need, they have a big nut to crack if they don’t want to spend through their existing fortune. This is why Harry was distressed about paying for their security. They have to keep bringing in money….”

^ This is where u completely mix sh!t up: H’s distress abt security occurred while they were in Canada so thats before issues of mortgage and house and garden staff etc. were real. He has ALWAYS had his inherited millions from his mother. Thats what they subsequently used to buy their house and hire a phalanx of independent, high-class security for his family. The question of H’s security was and will always be an issue because he is a HIGH. RISK. TARGET. Thats why M said in the O-intvw that she WROTE EMAILS begging for them not to take away her husband’s security; that she knew she and Archie werent important to them but that her husband risked his life for their country and remains a high-security risk, as british intel reiterated to them. But the little shit charles and his henchmen never listened.

Anyhooo……in swooped TylerPerry who provided a temporary home and security until the Sussexes could set get their house in order.

      • Kelly says:

@Carmen – Why are you so hostile?

It should not be news that they have to earn.

Harry’s distress about security was not only in Canada, but an ongoing concern according to what he said to Oprah. That is the reason he gave for the Netflix deal, which wasn’t even on their radar before the security issue.

And I’m not sure what you’re on about as far as the upfront signing fees with Netflix and Spotify. There are plenty of analysis pieces online explaining how such deals work and what they would’ve gotten up front would not last long. My point was that many people have assumed they received $200 Million and are therefore set.

Lastly, I’m related to someone with $50 Million, and Harry’s inherited money is somewhere in that neighborhood. My rich relative lives in a mansion, but there the resemblance ends. There is NO WAY my relative could sustain their lifestyle if you add up the cost of the house, garden staff, house staff, security, and the team they hired to oversee their endeavors, etc…

      • Brielle says:

When they quitted on 2020 and they were in L.A,Clarence house was letting ppl know that Charles was still funding the Sussex and it was reported in the NY post and Harry’s team said he was paying everything himself(house, security… and that was in September-October 2020 so way before the interview….and do you really believe that they would have done the interview if Charles was still funding them? Cause it was the best way for him to cut them loose,it was clearly because they have nothing to loose from Charles and they were independant…and I prefer to believe someone from Harry’s team than sources from the palaces…

    • Christine says:

I sincerely don’t understand these people, at all. Hi, they ditched you already, and they are fully funding their existence. If you are trying to get them back into working for the crown, this is probably not the way. No, it is definitely NOT the way. I get that England is desperate, for some sort of something, they are unable to speak, in normal ways, humans understand, but let me lay it out for you.

      YOU.NEED.HARRY AND MEGHAN. FULL STOP.

      Maybe act like it?

  2. Lauren says:

How do you ditch someone that has already ditched you?

    • Cecilia says:

When you find the answer let us know.

    • Over it says:

      Excellent question.lol

    • Charlie says:

“You can’t break up with me because I’m breaking up with you!”

    • ThEHufflepuffLizLemon says:

Right? This is, “You can’t break up with me, because I BROKE UP WITH YOU!”

    • Elizabeth Regina says:

Mad-gela is like a crazy stalking ex. I shudder to know what goes on in her awful mind. Her written and spoken words are disgusting enough.

    • MyJobIsToPrincess says:

I don’t get this going backwards and play history again a different way. It was very clear and still very clear that the ROYALS WERE DITCHED BY THE SUSSEXES whether they like it or not. The Sussexes DITCHED the ROYALS, the Royals gave them a year to crawl back crying, but that never happened. The test year ended with a super bang of an interview with Oprah were Harry confirmed himself that he is not taking any money from the british since he was already cut, and they are financialy independent as they wanted to be.

  3. Sofia says:

I’m confused. Does Charles still support them financially in any way? Because the Oprah interview made it pretty clear he hasn’t and doesn’t.

It was written by a woman who called Sophie the “Duchess of Wessex” last week and regularly hangs out with tinhats on Twitter so truth and accuracy just isn’t her strong point

    • Myra says:

Don’t be confused. This is a woman who believes that Meghan was not really pregnant. Moonbump conspiracy theorists should be taken as seriously as the birther conspiracy theorists and the pizzagate conspiracy theorists and so on…. I mean, just talking about her is embarrassing.

      • Sofia says:

Oh I’m not really confused lol. I know who she is (I mention it in my second paragraph). I was just feigning ignorance

  4. Sigmund says:

Wow. Levin heavily implies that Harry & Meghan live in an expensive house paid for by the Royal family, but I thought it was known that they took out a mortgage on it. And the Spotify/Netflix deals are their way of paying for their bills, neither of which conveniently get mentioned by Levin.

It’s honestly kind of laughable how she cherry picks information to try and make them look bad. Like, the mental gymnastics some people have to do to hate the Sussexes are ridiculous. They’re selling out for money! But they’re still relying on the monarchy to pay their bills! So which is it?

    • MsDiMeanOur says:

I also only wanted to comment on the constant mention of the price of the mansion

Why are they jealous that M&H sorted their lives without hand outs?

      • Amy Bee says:

@MsDiMeanOur: Because Harry and Meghan were expected to fail without Royal support.

      • JT says:

@msdimeanor because the others can’t. They are all clinging on to the royal teet like their lives depend on it and here comes H&M not giving a damn. With the exception of Charles, I don’t think any of the others could survive without hand outs from the crown. I think the RF resents that fact, because one of the main means of control for them is keeping the family subservient and dependent. The royals want people begging to stay in, like Andrew and Fergie. H&M peacing out and thriving, despite all of the barriers they’ve tried to throw at them is like one giant f*ck you.

      • cassandra says:

        @JT Exactlyyyyyy

Harry made it pretty clear he only had money from the queen mother and Diana. I imagine it’s the same for William until he gets the Duchy. These people are rich, but they aren’t crazy rich. William couldn’t afford a country estate and a huge apartment in the posh part of London on his own, that’s for sure. The real value of apt 1A in the London market is probably Over 100 mil

I really feel like Kate bet on the wrong horse. She could have nabbed a non-royal aristo and be 10x as rich with no obligations

      • notasugarhere says:

William doesn’t ‘get’ the Duchy, cassandra. Charles doesn’t own it personally, that’s why Diana couldn’t go after it in the divorce. They are placeholders, defacto ‘leaders’ of it, but they do not own the Duchy of Cornwall. There is a board of trustees who oversee Duchy finances.

      • Didi says:

@cassandra Harry didn’t mention any money from the Queen Mother. He said he only had what his mother left him.

      • PEARL GREY says:

The hourly mention of Harry and Meghan’s “£11miLLiOn mAnSiOn!”, as if the rest of the royals are slumming it in one-room bedsits is hilarious. They live in multiple grand residences that they didn’t earn that cost a hell of a lot more than £11million and some of which are partially maintained by public money. But let them try to drum up outrage and jealousy over a house that Harry and Meghan are paying for entirely themselves. They are just upset that they overplayed their bullying of Meghan, ultimately helping to put those multimillion dollar deals in her pocket.

      • Abby says:

THIS. I am SO TIRED of them constantly mentioning that it’s a whatever million pound MANSION every time. Doesn’t all of the royals live in mansions of some kind? It makes me see red.

    • Lemons says:

It’s interesting how the Netflix/Spotify deals are now erased from the narrative here where usually they are used as a means of saying that they’re selling out the royal family…

  5. Gk says:

I had read this also and was confused/ surprised because the Oprah interview seemed to make it clear security was cut off and they had to rely on the Diana inheritance ( and the help of friends, the free housing). I think this is kind of you can’t quit , I’m firing you, albeit months later.

  6. Becks1 says:

Like I said on twitter – how do you cut someone off who has already said, “no thanks, we’re good?”

I think this is just something so that people think Harry and Meghan are still receiving money from Charles, even though they have been very clear that they aren’t.

But, the bit about forcing other royals to find paid work and lose their titles and the only senior royals being the Cambridges and their children – what on earth is that about? George turns 8 in July. Charlotte turns 6 next week. Are they going to take on some royal duties now? Open some hospital wings? Are they going to turn the Wessexes and Princess Anne out and say “good luck, try to find a job now!” Or is this all just a cover for Andrew?

This does make it clear to me that William intends for all three of his children to be working royals and live off public funds for the whole of their lives, which is stupid because it means in a generation they’ll be right back where we are now, when the Cambridge kids all have their own children – the same growing pains for who is and is not a working royal. Maybe that’s why he was so mad about Harry leaving. It set a precedent for his children to not be publicly supported and he does not want to them to have to “work.”

    • Cecilia says:

I think the succession crisis the royals are facing right now is going to be messy. The royals who would be pushed out are not going to go quietly.

    • lanne says:

Twenty years from now, the RF will be in exactly the same place today, because they can’t learn from their mistakes. So George will be pitted against a possibly more charismatic Charlotte and Louis, who will be fighting to find their own place within this toxic organization. I wouldn’t be surprised if the younger kids ended up running off to California at some point. It’s crappy to speculate about children like this, but unfortunately, the writing’s on the wall for them. It’s not fair and it’s not necessary, but no one in any of the palaces seems capable of learning from past mistakes.

      • Amy T says:

And thanks to H&M, Charlotte and Louis will have a template to follow. Harry may have always wanted to extricate himself from the drama and constraints of his role, his great-aunt’s life being the ultimate cautionary tale and all. But it was Meghan, who’d built a good life on her own and navigated family drama on a smaller scale, that helped figure out the logistics. They’re a solid team and unbreakable. And the more they’re quietly demonized inside the family circle, the more likely C&L’s teenage rebellion will be decamping to California.

      • Shahad says:

I am really surprised at how this royal heir system works , it is really dysfunctional because it pits sibling against sibling and frankly to me it comes close to child abuse .

I cannot imagine being subservient to my sibling and being beholden to him/her simply because they came out of our mothers womb first .

I think the humane thing to do would have been for William to only have one child. And every subsequent heir have one child to eliminate this cruel treatment siblings of the heir get .

  7. Snuffles says:

I think the REAL story within this Sussex click bait article is that the extended family is about to be cut off. When the Queen dies, Charles is going to be slashing allowances and throwing cousins out of Crown property. Charles could probably make mad money renting those properties out to paying customers.

He’s giving them a heads up to start looking for jobs NOW before the Queen dies. And to let the younger generation know not to expect to live off the royal purse when they grow up either.

I think this is a good thing. But it will only work if the working royals step up. Looking at you Cambridges.

    • Sofia says:

It would be interesting to see how it would work if Charles tell his 70 year old sister, mid 70s Duke and Duchess of Gloucester and mid 80s Duke of Kent and Princess Alexandra to go find jobs. Might do to Sophie and Edward but to the rest of them he might say “reduce your engagements and you’re not getting as much as you did before in terms of money” and just wait till they die out.

Or give them a lump sum and tell them to go retire and enjoy the rest of the lives they’ve got.

      • Snuffles says:

I’m going with give them a lump sum and telling them to retire. I find it hard to believe that these people don’t own their own property somewhere. Maybe not as magnificent as a Crown property but some nice house in the country somewhere. They should be perfectly fine.

But I also wonder how much their children and grandchildren live off of The Crown. I feel like dozens of family members rely on the Queen’s largess on some level. Even if only partially. Like perks. Maybe Charles intends to
        cut them all off.

      • Becks1 says:

For the older royals its pretty easy – the Kents and Gloucesters – they just retire from public life – maybe they get to keep their apartments at KP but that’s it. And Andrew is a non-entity right now. So it’s really Anne and the Wessexes who would be an issue, and the issue with having them stop public duties is that…..they actually perform public duties, as opposed to the Cambridges.

There are going to be some growing pains here for sure, both for the royals and for the public who expect the royals to do a certain amount of public appearances.

      • Cessily says:

Isn’t there private trusts set up for them? Also when the Queen passes won’t she have a WILL that will probably involve another trust account? These people are never going to be poor.

      • Sofia says:

@Snuffles and @Becks1 I agree with you both and like @Becks1 I can see Charles going “Okay you’re being retired but I’ll let you live in KP till you die.” And like @Snuffles said they may have some property elsewhere or are prepared to buy something. The Gloucesters have already moved out of KP so that just leaves the Kents to deal with.

It will definitely be interesting to see exactly what changes are implemented and what is made of Anne and the Wessexes. While Anne can be told by Charles to retire and spend her time with the horses and grandchildren, the Wessexes are only in their mid-late 50s so they’ll need a “job” of sorts.

      • notasugarhere says:

The Gloucesters and Princess Alexandra would survive, as they have outside funds. The Gloucesters haven’t moved out of KP; they moved to smaller space at KP. The Kent line has no money, that’s part of why they’re still doing duties. As long as they are working royals, they get their housing paid.

    • Lauren says:

Yeah, that’s probably the real story, but they know that if it doesn’t concern Harry and Meghan it doesn’t generate clicks. If Charles intends to fully move on with just the Cambridges (excluding the Wessesex and the York girls from the work line) he is in for a rough decade. George is going to be working part-time until he finishes his schooling and the other two kids are even younger. Sucks to be him.

      • vs says:

“George is going to be working part-time until he finishes his schooling and the other two kids are even younger. Sucks to be him.” — work? what work? opening hospitals? smiling and waving? unveiling plaques? that some people get paid to do that is embarrassing honestly but it is my money so none of my business

If by work you mean, dealing with the tabloid trash, then that makes sense….otherwise, even a brainless person can do what they do; no wonder Meg & Harry went with projects

    • Snazzy says:

Yes I think so too. They hide it in an article about the Sussexes, but it’s a warning for the others

    • Becks1 says:

I think this is the real story like you said, but its weird because….what, he’s going to tell Anne to go find a job?

I said this above in my comments but this also specifically lists the Cambridge children as senior royals, which seems to imply that they WILL be working royals, and those are the only younger royals for whom it’s a question right now – Louise and James aren’t going to be working royals, none of the children of the York princesses will be – the only ones in question are Charlotte and Louis.

      • notasugarhere says:

Anne has been plotting the future for years. She ended the Gatcombe Horse Trials last year or the year before. It has been started, as a ‘new’ thing run by Peter. Helps set up the idea that Peter is the ‘real’ manager of the estate. Gives them a big shot at dodging all death duties / inheritance taxes when Anne passes.

  8. Angelica Schuyler says:

This is so ridiculous. They can’t fire the Sussexes because they already QUIT! The RR are really stretching for stories these days…..

  9. equality says:

Wouldn’t the actual picture be, if this is the plan, Charles will be “ditching” his siblings and their spouses and the Queen’s cousins. Andrew is supposedly back in business with some other pervert and Anne could go back into using her property for horse events, but I wonder if the rest have a “retirement” plan.

  10. Cecilia says:

How exactly do you ditch people that already left and are already completely self sufficient?

  11. Alexandria says:

They already said goodbye. They quit. I thought UK people understood English but these rats must be illiterate.

And everyone knew Charles wanted a slimmed down monarchy but NOBODY can provide proof it excluded Harry’s future wife before Meghan came along. If Harry wasn’t part of the plan why did they yank him out of the military and why is it a big deal when he left? It is a big deal because you rats jumped on him leaving. So what are you rats talking about. Make it make sense. I know you or a minion is reading this.

    • Becks1 says:

Right?? If Harry and Meghan weren’t part of the slimmed down plan (contrary to what has been said for years but whatever), then why is it a big deal that they peaced out and are doing their own thing in California?

      • Shahad says:

To honest they may have been for 2 reasons. One I think Charles wanted to show his siblings that he was serious and not look like he was ditching his siblings and keeping his children which would have created resentment in the family so he might have gone see I am also cutting off my son too . Harry being cut off too was probably going to be used to placate his family .

Secondly Meghan being asked to continue acting to earn her income is probably another sign that Harry was not part of the future and her huge popularity sealed her fate . She was too much for the institution.

    • Donna B. says:

      😂😂😂

  12. Woke says:

The working royals under Charles’s reign will be composed of 6 people: the two C, the Cambridges and the Wessexes I don’t know if that’s sustainable. Him and Camilla are unpopular, the Cambridges don’t work and the Wessexes work but don’t attract the masses.

  13. Elizabeth Kerri Mahon says:

Charles signaled his intent to slim down the monarchy way back in 2012 at the Queen’s Jubilee when only he, Camilla, William, Kate, and Harry appeared on the balcony. Beatrice and Eugenie already have jobs; Edward & Sophie have already indicated that their children won’t be working royals. The Duke & Duchess of Gloucester have already moved out of Kensington Palace, and Prince & Princess Michael of Kent were forced to pay rent for their apartment years ago. The minor royals (Kents and Gloucesters) no longer receive funds from the Crown the way that they once did, if at all. If Angela Levin were a real biographer, she would already know this information.

    • Amy Bee says:

The Gloucesters have not moved out of KP. They’ve downsized to a smaller property on the KP compound.

    • notasugarhere says:

Duke of Kent still has his housing, staff, and ‘allowance’ paid by the Sovereign Grant because he’s a working royal. Princess Alexandra has her work expenses paid, plus staff and free housing for her large apartment at Saint James Palace.

P&P Michael of Kent are an interesting case. They weren’t official working royals, but after the rent scandal? He now appears on the Court Circular, which would indicate he’s doing duties for the Queen. That likely means the Sovereign Grant is paying their rent at KP.

      • lanne says:

He and wife Brooch Bitch don’t seem to have any money. They had to sell their country estate (where they kept black sheep named Venus and Serena har har)

      • notasugarhere says:

They don’t have any money, that’s why they kept the KP apartment and sold off the other house. But him appearing on the CC in recent years speaks to SG funding.

      • SenseOfTheAbsurd says:

I hope to see Princess Michael dragged out shrieking and foaming at the mouth.

  14. FancyPants says:

“While the Queen is still alive” is doing a lot of work here. That’s 6-7 years TOPS based on her mother’s longevity, and I think more likely 1-3 years (if that long) given her recent loss of her life-long partner. I’m not worried about Andrew coming back to royal duties- he’s never coming back and I think Charles hates him just enough to drop whatever fence the Queen put up around him against the FBI. I think the whole family needs to be worried and thinking about ALL of their own retirement plans once the Queen dies because I think the monarchy will be abolished within my lifetime (I’m 40ish). The Sussexes (if they’re even still “The Sussexes” by then) are going to be sitting pretty on top of their media company, fending off loan requests from now-minor royals and being too classy to gloat about it.

  15. North of Boston says:

It’s like someone threatening to break-up with an ex, an ex who has already moved on, remarried, welcomed a new child and is celebrating their wedding anniversary happily.

There’s nothing left to cut off Angela.

    • lanne says:

It’s the ex, on the day of the wedding, still talking about how their former partner “can’t get over them.” She really is unprofessional in how PERSONAL she takes Harry leaving. Bitch, one 15 minute interview doesn’t mean you have any say in Harry’s life. She doesn’t seem to know that, and consorts with Moonbump conspiracists on social media. If she were a real reporter with a real job, she would have been fired, or put on serious notice. But as she’s a royal reporter hack, no standards of professionalism apply.

  16. Catherine says:

As pointed out the slimmed down monarchy has been a clear direction by Charles since 2012 and since the Queen made it clear she was going to go along with Charles desire to not allow Eugenie and Beatrice to become full time working royals. Andrew wanted it, Charles didn’t. Since it would affect Charles and William’s reign the Queen sided with Charles. The other thing that was made clear is that none of the children of the Queen’s working royal cousins would ever be put on the payroll. They are repackaging an old story in order to weaponize it against the Sussexes. They are desperate to make it seem as if the Sussexes are “losing out”.

    • Saucy&Sassy says:

Catherine, this is the sentence I focused on: “I imagine that might be when Harry and Meghan are ditched from being members of the Royal family. ” It certainly sounds like they’re are literally kicking H&M out of the family–they’re not talking about finances. Isn’t that interesting? So, is this in response to Harry telling them after the funeral that he is done with them? NotSoSimpleTaylor had some interesting comments in a few of the previous posts in the last couple of days. I think things are going to be quite entertaining.

If Charles goes scorched earth with the titles, do they realize that Prince Harry will continue to be Prince Harry? The question is whether in the US Meghan becomes Princess Meghan. You know us colonials, we’ll do what we please and the brf can’t do much about that!

  17. Izzy says:

Given that we’re basically watching the Keenbridge marriage implode, I don’t think Charles will want to completely cut off all possible avenues of the Sussexes’ return. He may very well need them.

Also, I doubt the Sussexes GAF at this point, they have about 200 million reasons not to care.

  18. Over it says:

So the slimed down monarchy is Chucky, Camilla, Willyleaks and Karen keen? Two senior citizens who work and two work shy thirty somethings. But but what about my Botox treatment william? I don’t have time to be a full time working royal. My buttons. Botox and bows need me.

    • damejudi says:

Maybe it’s a typo, maybe it’s a Freudian slip, but I’m here for the “slimed” down monarchy!

  19. Amy Bee says:

What is Angela Levin talking about? Charles hasn’t been funding Harry and Meghan since the left in March last year so they’ve already been ditched. Furthermore, it would seem that Charles wasn’t even funding Meghan when she joined the family because the Palace told Harry that Meghan should continue working as an actress because there was no money. This was said before the wedding.

  20. Louise177 says:

This is the most bizarre article. Harry and Meghan left so how can Charles ditch them? They no longer represent the RF or supported by them.

  21. Monica says:

Generally, ANGELA, when someone quits a job, the job stops paying them, FYI.

What’s more disgusting is the implication that H&M are being kicked out of the family. So, you’re going to disown your son, Charles?

Truly, when the queen goes, Harry will have no more ties to this family, it sounds like.

    • Saucy&Sassy says:

Monica, I posted much the same above before I saw your post. I just can’t decide whether this is Harry’s plan or Chuck’s.

  22. AVEA says:

Soooo… Has she been in a coma for the past year?

  23. Lizzie says:

I’m ditching my boyfriend. We broke up after prom in 1979.

  24. Abena Asantewaa says:

I can confidently say that, Angela Levin, is one sandwich short of a picnic, and should be certified

  25. Mooney says:

THEY DIDN’T QUIT, WE FIRED THEM 🤣. Definitely doesn’t sound like desperation 😂.

  26. lanne says:

So, the takeaway from all of this is that the RF needs the Sussexes, the tabloids need the Sussexes, the royal global brand needs the Sussexes, but the Sussexes don’t need them. I wonder when they’re going to break down and admit it? I wonder when quiet overtures will be made by Charles (never William) for their return? I wonder what, if any, circumstances would allow the Sussexes to return on what’s likely the half-in half-out option they originally asked for?

The good thing is that the Sussexes have all the bargaining power right now. If I were them, I would insist on remaining self-funded–there’s no way they should ever be under the power of Will-di Amin, and doing some appearances/tours on a “voluntary”basis. The RF can pay the costs associated with the tours and appearances from the Sovreign Grant, but no pay for the Sussexes other than that. They should also get guarantees to reign in the tabloids, and that the RF have absolutely no say in their financials or deals. They also remain based in california and only come to the UK for work.

I think that’s the ONLY way the Sussexes come back in any capacity. If Charles is smart, he will be extending a hand to them right now, with or without William’s approval. They have a big problem on their hand with the glamorous, charismatic Sussexes in the future. It means eating some serious crow for the royals (and the tabloids) but it ultimately benefits the institution.

Which is why, on second thought, they won’t do it. The royals are going to drive this runaway train they’re on right into a brick wall.

  27. betsyh says:

Kaiser, I agree with you, this is a smokescreen to protect Andrew.

  28. SarahCS says:

This is totally a ‘I know you moved out and all but I’m breaking up with YOU’ move. Only it’s coming from someone who’s not actually in the relationship. So creepy and weird. Stay in the states H&M (& family).

  29. aquarius64 says:

Angela Levin – journalism school reject and proves it with each writing. As the bit about titles, only Parliament can strips titles and the last time it was after WWI and four men lost theirs because they fought for the enemy.

Charles is now Duke of Endiburgh after Philip’s passing. When. Charles becomes king the DoE title goes back to the Crown and he is suppose to give it to Edward. With this new plan the Wessexes are out in the cold and out of luck for royal ductal titles. Karma is a witch Sophie and so are you.

  30. Jane M says:

Titles – that’s what Charles is threatening to take away. It’s buried in there.

  31. NotSoSimpleTaylor says:

I think Angela Levin is a bootlicker. I also think that Harry doesn’t care about titles but if Charles wants to take away what his grandmother bestowed upon them, then sure.

If Charles does this, you expect the Gloucesters, Kents, or even Anne, Andrew, and Edward and Sophie to sit idly by and be thrown out? I don’t think so, especially Andrew. The Sussexes won’t be there to distract from all the issues. The rejects will go to the media, they will spill all the royal beans, and the house of cards Charles has carefully built will come crashing down. Charles is damned if he does and damned if he doesn’t and this move could have dire consequences for the monarchy. I hope Charles treads carefully.

    • True says:

Agreed Charles is damned either way. But he is damned bc he caters to others and has no strategy if the desired outcome doesn’t apply directly to him.

      Wants Camilla accepted=long term strategy

Harry and Megan=short sighted strategy that never factored into the equation that Harry could leave.

    • Nyro says:

The Wessexes certainly won’t go quietly. Sofiesta put in work during the Philip mourning period, honey. Sis even got a whole DM front page. She pulled out all the stops. Honestly, she came off like a combination of a family spokesperson and a funeral director. Lol. She was even pushing Lady Louise forward. No way is she just going to give up and let Charles and Baldy put her family out to pasture. She’s going to put all of her PR experience to use in the coming years.

  32. EliseM says:

I cant believe Keen and Keener would go for a slim down. That would mean more sheep to pet and tractors to ride. Good Lord, Charles is going to give them a case of the Vapors. LOL.

  33. Jay says:

    Okay, so according to Angela:

Harry and Meghan, January 2020: We’re getting the heck off of this island and away from this toxic family. Forever. We quit!

    Charles, April 2021: You’re fired!

  34. Lizzie says:

Has anyone figured out how they will perform more engagements, absorbing Philip’s, Andrew’s, the Sussex and eventually the queen and her geriatric cousins, with a slimmer monarchy? Cut engagements and patronage’s or redefine their role to be something altogether different? Perhaps Charles and the other brother plus wives will turn up for state occasions or royal tours and that’s all?

  35. swirlmamad says:

Poor, sad, confused Angela Levin. The Sussexes don’t need the RF’s pennies. They’re doing quite well raking in the bucks on their own.

  36. Mina_Esq says:

They’ve already cut them off financially and took away their patronages. What else is left? Stripping them of their titles would require an act of parliament. Since them simply being a Duke and Duchess doesn’t cost Charles anything, it would be hard to justify that kind of act of government. This is just more hate.

  37. NotSoSocialButterfly says:

Angela Levin has lost the plot.

    • L4frimaire says:

She has no sense of reality when it comes to the Sussexes. She’s a year late on the news. This just makes Charles look petty and clueless.

  38. Mooshe1 says:

Angela may as well let it go. They’ve been dumped. Harry offered to be friends but I guess the royal family and expect clowns can’t handle it

  39. Athena says:

Elizabeth as a young queen asked her cousins to not pursue private enterprise and help her as working Royals. It would be unfair at this point, at their age, when they have set aside their own chances to kick them out. Funds should have been placed in the UK’s equivalent of social security or a retirement plan should have been part of the deal. I still think Anne does all these engagements in part because she need the money.
The plan was for Harry to keep working until the Cambridge children can take over. So in about 15 years when he’s in his 50s and his star power has waned, he would have been retired from Royal duties like the Queen did to her sister.
I believe Margaret at the end only owed the property in the Caribbean, which was a gift from a non family member to begin with. She spent her whole life depending on the generosity of her sister.
Why the wealth is not equitably allocated is beyond me, so here we are in the 21th century and this family is operating worse than in ancient times. At least in the old days those related to the Monarch were able to earn their own fortunes.

  40. Brielle says:

Angela Levin is a very dangerous person:she was the one who wrote that damning article in Newsweek and Harry was heavily criticized, and she wrote an Harry’s biography and she portrayed him like dim and a simpleton and that he could have married David Ganfield’s ex girlfriend,an English rose…and she was the one on those moon bump threads on Twitter with those crazies, she was also on CNN the day of the wedding complaining about the choir:she is a hardcore racist, she hates Meghan and thinks Harry has been manipulated….she is bitter…

  41. serena says:

This is so idiotic, I almost laughed.
