Prince Harry was ‘shocked’ by the ‘frosty reception’ he received at the funeral?

Funeral of the Duke of Edinburgh at Windsor

Royal commentators got more than a week of coverage out of Prince Harry’s return to the UK for Prince Philip’s funeral. I would mock that, but hey, it was actually big international news and a lot of people around the world are paying attention to how the Windsor klan treats Prince Harry and his wife. It took maybe three full days post-funeral for the real story to come out in bits and pieces – Omid Scobie made it sound like Harry was simply there to bury his grandfather and all of the Windsor clownery was just noise. Royal commentators came very close to saying that Prince William is an infantile, childish, thin-skinned bully who couldn’t handle walking beside his brother at a funeral. And of course the Windsors have let to be known that they’re still incredibly salty about everything to do with the Sussexes. So, big story. Prince Harry was “shocked” by the cold reception he received from his family.

Prince Harry was so ‘shocked’ by the ‘very, very cold reception’ he received from the Royal Family after he flew over for his grandfather Prince Philip’s funeral that he may pull out of his upcoming trip to the UK in July, a royal expert has claimed. The Duke of Sussex, 35, who lives in a $14.7million home in Santa Barbara, California with wife Meghan Markle and their son Archie, one, is next expected to return to the UK this summer for the unveiling of a statue of his late mother Princess Diana.

However, speaking to talkRADIO, Russell Myers has questioned whether the visit will take place and commented: ‘Some quarters of the family did give him a frosty reception and perhaps that did shock him somewhat.’ He went on to say how the Duke of Sussex may use the birth of his second child, who is expected to arrive in the summer, as a ‘convenient excuse’ not to ‘face the family’.

Radio host Kevin O’Sullivan explained how Prince Harry looked ‘very out of sorts’ during his stay for the Duke of Edinburgh’s funeral recently. He continued: ‘I’m wondering whether he received a very, very cold reception? I read that some quarters of the royal family literally just blocked him and didn’t even talk to him. I think he may have been a bit shocked by the cool reception he got from his family, which begs the question, will he come back for the unveiling of the Diana memorial with his brother in July? Or will he pull out of that?’

Russell Myers replied: ‘I’m told he is still committed to coming. Both camps are. Certainly Kate and William will welcome him if he wants to come back. His intention is to come back. One may wonder, if his wife has just had a baby, I’m sure he could jump on a private jet and make a flying visit. But, will it be a convenient excuse so he doesn’t have to come back and face the family? I think a lot will determine what happens in the interim period. Some quarters of the family did give him a frosty reception and perhaps that did shock him somewhat. I don’t think we will realise the fallout of that Oprah Winfrey interview for some time. Maybe once we get back to a bit of normality, the rest of the family will start thinking about that a bit more carefully. It might not be good news for Harry.’

[From The Daily Mail]

The Windsors and their supporters keep telling on themselves. It’s remarkable to think that this kind of commentary is supposed to reflect something positive for the Windsors – they fact that they were so obviously cold and nasty to a grown man returning to bury a beloved grandfather. The commentators are so gleeful at the thought of the family exerting emotional punishment on Harry for… you know, leaving the country when he and his wife were being subjected to a campaign of abuse and racism. Anyway, I’ll say it again – I hope Harry doesn’t return for this stupid statue unveiling. The whole situation on Salty White Folk Isle is infuriating and toxic.

“Face the family” – What are they, a military tribunal? A firing line?

I hope Harry dips on this statue unveiling. If the baby wasn’t imminently due, I do think he would have sucked it up and gone. But I think with the baby and the Shutter Island being so salty still, I’m sure he’s lost his desire to go.

    • DS9 says:

The crazy thing to me though is that this is being hyped up as honoring his mother’s memory but in a climate that illustrates that the Firm never understood her or what they did to her at all.

It’s not a true memorial at all.

      • BayTampaBay says:

See my comment below. Harry as a “no-show” will hurt William more than it will ever hurt Harry.

      • Becks1 says:

It’s interesting, in a sad way, that this statute has turned into such a huge deal by the press and the Windsors – I feel like Diana would not have wanted something meant to honor her to be used as just another way to hurt her youngest son.

      • notasugarhere says:

W&K already made it about themselves, when they banned Meghan from the private memorial service at Diana’s grave in summer 2017. Whether or not Harry attends, it will be a PR show of W&K, them papping out their kids for PR, and playing weird games.

      • Snuffles says:

Exactly. They’ve co-opted this moment and made it a part of their royal soap opera. Not one moment of this will be about Diana and her legacy. It will only be about family drama.

      • Cessily says:

All PH needs to do is put out a statement that honoring his mother who died being chased by paparazzi and tabloid press while his wife and family are facing the same treatment that he doesn’t feel or think that it is right he stand there smiling for that very same press to profit from. If he doesn’t want to attend I can’t see anyone faulting that but I’m sure they would.

      • Lemons says:

This statue is the only way William will ever “honor” his mother in a tangible way. He is Diana’s son by DNA, but he does not honor her memory. So, of course, he’ll throw tantrums about optics and statues.

Also, if Harry can’t have his family there to honor Diana with him (and if the media can’t even acknowledge he has a family), I don’t see why he should be forced to show up when we know Kate would NEVER miss out on this opportunity to shuffle the kids around Diana’s statue in a new bespoke McQueen coatdress.

      • Kristin says:

I’m not a hateful person by nature and I certainly never thought it possible to hate someone I’ve never even met, but I swear to God, I actually HATE this family. The way they continue to capitalize on Diana’s good name and good deeds, all these years after her death, all while doing so without one ounce of self-reflection about how horribly they treated her when she was alive. Every time I think they couldn’t be any more despicable if they tried, they somehow succeed in lowering themselves to new depths. And you KNOW that if if, God forbid, Meghan had died, they’d be doing the same shit with her memory: using her good works in life to prop themselves up despite the fact that they treated her like garbage.

I also think it’s part of the reason why kind-hearted people like Diana and Meghan can’t survive the royal family, whereas people like Kate can. You really have to be a manipulative shark at heart to survive in that kind of environment, and Meghan, like Diana before her, was just too pure of heart to last in that kind of environment.

      • Concern Fae says:

What W truly doesn’t understand is that any functional family would reschedule the unveiling of a memorial statue if the impending birth of a grandchild meant that one of the children wouldn’t be able to attend.

Weddings get moved so pregnant siblings can attend. The BRF needs to move along with the rest of the world. You can unveil the statue in September.

      • Laugh or Cry says:

@Kirstin, the sad part is I can totally get your point about this dreadful family. I really feel for the Sussexes. I still stand by what I’ve mentioned on a previous post, the ONLY way to survive this seared lot is to have a severe personality disorder(psychopath or sociopath level). This entire organization toxic from top down since the beginning of time. Harry seems like he is a decent guy who cares (no small feat) and trying to do good (make his mother proud). He must be in deep mourning not just over his grandfather but the loss of “family”, to realize they like seek to DESTROY you. Like really? Because he married a biracial American woman and they dared to be competent. Who does that??!!! Tragic all the way around…

      • Christine says:

        Yes.

  2. DS9 says:

I love how it doesn’t occur to any of them that maybe, just maybe after decades of being treated any old kind of way by his entire family and the outdated structure of the monarchy in general that Harry is there to meet his obligations and that’s all.

Anyone with a toxic family can tell you that at some point, you just compartmentalize, make your appearances, and gtfo.

    • Ronaldinho says:

      This.
There is no one who bleats harder than an abuser who has lost the person they abuse.

The problem is Bill and Cathy realise these golden press days they are enjoying are numbered. If Charles becomes the golden king the British Press will need an everyday subject of hatred
Bill and Cathy remember when they were noticed for how workshy and insipid they truly are.

    • Lizzie says:

His family was so toxic to him, his wife and son he literally had to leave the country. And they were mad and cut him off. So is Harry surprised by their toxic behavior? No, just confirms he made the right call.

  3. lucy2 says:

Gotta love how one random dude speculating turns into story of “this definitely happened”.
For sure, Harry knew what he was going back to. He went for his grandfather, and went home as soon as possible. He is done with them and likely expects nothing but iciness when they have to interact.
And can they mention the price tag of his house just ONE MORE TIME?

    • Cessily says:

The British commentators and tabloids should worry more about what the homes they pay for are costing them, not the homes they don’t. Seriously they probably would have been happy in a normal subdivision if everyone left them alone.. as for the frosty reception, you expect no less from petty people PH is of an age he knows this.
I think these stories may be what the British are used to but other nations are not, after the interview they started being picked up and run by news outlets in countries world wide and more people are seeing it and calling it out. I think everyone is at the saturation point with the H&M bashing so we will probably see more supportive comments come out like this past week as people start planning public returns. H&M have a huge platform and many friends I think the ones who have been silent and don’t live in England will start defending them more and more. Or at least that is what I hope will happen. I know I didn’t pay attention until I read the interview highlights and found it on a streaming app several days later, then all it took was a little research.. only a hateful petty person would not see it.

    • Feeshalori says:

For the RRs, what story is complete without the price of their home?

    • Robin Webb says:

Oh my gosh yes!!! Every single article! Sheesh!

  4. Merricat says:

I doubt that Harry was shocked by anything that occurred at the funeral. It was all pretty standard: Charles was distant, William was incandescent, and Kate was posing for the cameras. And the queen kept herself apart from the lot of them.

  5. BayTampaBay says:

It will look bad on the Royal family, especially Baldingham, if Harry does not comeback: as in the fallout must be nuclear, not frosty, for Harry to miss a dedication to his mother and her memory. If Baldy cannot bearing the hatchet long enough for Harry to come back and appear at Diana’s dedication then Baldy will be seen to be as even more petty and incandescent with rage if that is possible.

    • notasugarhere says:

William and tabloids will spin it all as, Harry doesn’t care about our mother anymore. Look what Meghan did, she ruined everything, etc..

William and Kate banned Meghan from attending a *private* memorial for Diana in summer 2017. Harry and Meghan already knew they were getting married, but W&K refused to let Meghan attend. Kids were there, nannies were there, but Meghan was banned.

W&K weaponised this Diana statue unveiling months ago when they announced when it would be AND that Harry would be attending. Harry has already stated no one in the palaces speaks for him, but William keeps lying anyway.

    • (The OG) Jan90067 says:

Harry “missing” this statue crap will be because he has a NEWBORN CHILD *and* a 2 yr old at home, and international traveling, EVEN PRIVATE, IN A PANDEMIC, is not a good idea! Even vaccinated, the CDC and other Epidemiologists are telling people that do NOT travel unless you have to, and then, KEEP IT LOCAL.

WHY would Harry desert his wife, 1 mo. or less postpartum, to go to Salty Island, to appease his rage-a-holic brother is insane.

What Harry (& Meghan) are doing with their Vax project IS what honors Diana’s memory… a *million* times more than a hunk of chiseled stone.

    • Liz version 700 says:

I agree. I think Will and Kate are too stupid for this to be anything but a disaster. If he doesn’t go everyone will know why. We all saw why during the circus around the funeral. William is a child who has temper tantrums at the drop of a hat and no one could blame Harry for missing out on that (no one besides the creepy RR of course.)

  6. Becks1 says:

This says to me that Harry has said he’s not coming back for the statute unveiling and they’re preparing to spin it as “harry can’t bear to face his family after what he’s done.”

Also, my guess is the only really frosty reception was probably from the Cambridges. Anne, Edward, Charles, even Andrew – they had just lost their father, I’m sure they weren’t focused on making Harry feel welcome – same with the grandkids. He wasn’t expecting anyone to throw a big party welcoming him home since it was a FUNERAL. and he didn’t really see anyone that much anyway since he was quarantined for most of the time he was there.

    • Cecilia says:

If he doesn’t go its because of baby sussex and that will swiftly put a stop to that narrative.

      • Becks1 says:

I mean for rational people like us, of course, lol, but when is the british press rational? Even in this article they mention how he could hop on a private plane but the baby would be a “convenient excuse” which is gross but the tabs are gonna tab I guess.

      • pottymouth pup says:

oh no, they’re working that into the narrative as if he’s just using the birth as an excuse to hide:

“He went on to say how the Duke of Sussex may use the birth of his second child, who is expected to arrive in the summer, as a ‘convenient excuse’ not to ‘face the family’.”

the royal commentators really do out of their way to show they’re asses, don’t they?

    • Snuffles says:

Yup. They are already teeing up their stories. Royal rift bigger than ever! Harry disrespects Diana’s memory for that harpy who ripped Harry from his TRUE family! William devastated but vows to keep up his mother’s legacy on his own.

Meanwhile, in reality, the Sussex’s are leading the drive to make the COVID vaccine available worldwide to poorer communities. You know, the REAL kind of work that Diana would have totally been doing now if she was still alive.

      • Tessa says:

And it’s worse when they say the true family for him are Kate and William and how Kate “adores him.” Horrible.

      • Cessily says:

How can PH disrespect his mother’s memory he is the living proof of her memory and legacy. Not the British people or the tabloid press, they have no claim to her it’s so twisted.

    • Beana says:

“This says to me that Harry has said he’s not coming back for the statute unveiling and they’re preparing to spin it as ‘harry can’t bear to face his family after what he’s done.'”

Yes, this!!!! Harry has likely explained that he’ll be home with his wife, newborn, and toddler son waiting out the end of the pandemic, and those rats at KP are gleefully rolling out the narrative that Harry is too “ashamed” of his “misdeeds” to show up. Meanwhile, PWT will trot out the kiddos in Little Lord Fauntleroy outfits and they’ll play Happy Families while prompting the children to talk about “Granny Diana.”

  7. My3cents says:

If each f**g article about H&M lists their home’s price , I would like them to do the same for Petty Betty , the Incandescent rage monster ,and the estranged father.
    Enough of this shit.

    • TeamMeg says:

No kidding! It’s really *annoying* and transparently petty.

    • BothSidesNow says:

Right!! Fair is fair not not on salty island!! I wish a true journalist would come up from the ashes from the royal rats 🐀 and write up the rest of the family the same way they do to Harry and Meghan!

To note, this is all speculation and utter BS on the part of every reporter, need we say more?

    • Monica says:

LOL, “the Queen, at her £900 million home…”

    • CL says:

Yeah, the press never mentions that Amber Hall is worth around twice what the Montecito House is.

  8. Cecilia says:

I think the press is over doing it because in their fantasies harry wants to come back. Meanwhile, in reality, harry honestly couldn’t give a F anymore. At least thats how i feel.

    • Agreatreckoning says:

Agree. I think that over the last few months the only thing that would be a shock to Harry is a sincere apology from his abusive family.

  9. Case says:

I doubt he was shocked lol. I’m sure he was well aware his family wouldn’t be pleased with the Oprah interview. They hoped their awful behavior would never see the light of day, and he knew exposing it would make them angry. He’s not stupid.

    • Jais says:

Agree and doubt he was shocked. I think he was def shocked over the past few years at how members of his family treated him and his wife. But at this point he’s beyond surprised or shocked and thus the revealing interview in the first place.

    • Myra says:

He had a front row seat to their shitty behaviours over the past four years, he would have to be extremely naive to be continually shocked by them.

  10. Seraphina says:

I think, no matter what, he may have thought that in a time of mourning of a loved on that their hearts would be a bit less frigid.

  11. MrsRobinson says:

I’d imagine that after the experiences he’s had that have led him to move across the world, there’s not much that can shock him.
Also imagine that William is both nervous about blowback over him not coming—and hoping to take the mantle back of being Diana’s dutiful son by unveiling it alone (or with one of his kids?).

  12. lanne says:

Harry knows his family–he’s known these fools all his life. He knows their flaws and weaknesses better than anybody. I think he’s doing the grey rock when around them, and that’s what they can’t stand–they have nothing to hold over him, they have never valued him, their so-called love for them was always conditional.

My guess is that the statue dedication will be delayed–maybe indefinitely. Covid’s a reason, new baby’s the reason. the tabloids will continue to write their fan fiction for the racists, and the racists will buy it. But ultimately, no Harry on the island means no legit stories. When Harry and Meghan return from family leave and the world starts opening up, the tabloids will be left in the dust, writing their sad little fan fiction that Harry and Meghan’s lives simply don’t jibe with.

    • ArtHistorian says:

      What’s “the grey rock”?

      • Cessily says:

It is how people in an abusive situation survive literally.. https://www.thriveafterabuse.com/gray-rock

      • C-Shell says:

Learning about the gray rock approach to deal with my narcissistic mother after decades of emotional manipulation saved me. It had reached a breaking point after I lost my darling husband suddenly and she went about acting as the victim, whining and complaining about how everyone was showing me sympathy, but not her. I was pretty helpless to deal with it. My grief counselor gave me so many tools to find myself again. When I couldn’t screw up my nerve to cut her completely out of my life, gray rocking was the compromise. After 7 years it, ironically, has made it possible for me to tolerate my mother. Also, COVID, which is best excuse in the world to stay home and not travel 1500 miles to visit. 😁

      • Cessily says:

@c-shell it saved my physical life, still working on the mental aspect and fallout, so I understand your pain.

      • NotSoSocialButterfly says:

@cessily- thanks for the link. Turns out I’ve been using this tactic with certain people for decades 😂 (toxic family members)! Fun to know it has a name.

      • Saucy&Sassy says:

Cessily, I’m so sorry that you went through so much abuse, and I’m very happy that you found a way to keep yourself safe.

    • Monica says:

Yes, it’s obvious that Harry has been well briefed by an excellent therapist on how to handle his family, thank goodness.

  13. Monica says:

Ah, so this is the spin for when Harry ghosts them in July. He is likely beyond being shocked at anything his family does now.

  14. February-Pisces says:

But was kate the great peacemaker frosty though cos she looked very pleased to see him, like she couldn’t wait to jump on him the first chance she got.

  15. Over it says:

On behalf of Harry and Megs, dear Windsor and your media, f-off. Well this is more what I sincerely wish he would say but he is such a gentleman and an adult.

  16. Gina says:

I think RR feel he won’t come, so they just prepare the ground to blame/mock him for not going. Sure, he won’t come because he “is afraid” of frosty reception of his so-called family, not because of having newborn baby in the house.

  17. mellie says:

I’m willing to be that Harry does not give two $hits…he’s probably glad to be back in CA waiting on his new baby to arrive.

  18. Mooney says:

I think if Harry really has to go,then maybe he should go with Meghan and kids sometime later. I’m not fond of them going back there, but it’s about Harry’s mother who’s also the mother in law of Meghan and grandmother to their children. It’s their right, plus why should the other camp only act like Diana is their legacy to carry forward? Diana’s mixed race grandchildren have equal rights to pay respects to their grandmother.

  19. Beana says:

As someone who, after years of therapy, finally set firm boundaries with my family of origin and am now effectively estranged from them, I believe that Harry is NOT surprised. Disappointed? Saddened? Angry? Sure. When you grow up in a super toxic family, you have an INTIMATE knowledge of how conditionally you are loved and what the punishments will be if you step out of line. It speaks volumes to me that Harry knew what he’d be getting and did it anyway. My therapist even referred to Harry recently, saying, “When they move, not just to another continent, but to the opposite side of that continent, you know it must have been really bad!” (Yeah, even my therapist seems to be in the Sussex Squad ☺️)

    • SaraTor says:

I’m in the same situation! The Sussexes have been an interesting comparison for me since it all happened on the same timeline as my estrangement. Harry is definitely expected his family’s “frostiness.” Anytime you try to change a relationship with an emotionally immature person, they launch an intense “change back” pressure campaign.
Good for you for setting boundaries! It’s so hard, but I’m relieved I now have freedom from the toxic abuse.

    • salmonpuff says:

Me too. I’ve paid more attention to the Sussexes since so much of their journey over the last few years has paralleled my own. And yeah, once your eyes open to the abuse and the patterns of behavior, not much surprises you. Sometimes the details of my parents’ behavior will give me a little jolt, but the overall themes are set in stone. And while it’s always sad to realize my family will never be what I need them to be, I feel so much more confident and secure now that I’m free of their warped reality. I’m sorry we’ve all experienced this, but yay for getting healthy and establishing new patterns in our own lives.

    • Monica says:

You all are onto something, I think. I have dealt with my own family drama and find H&M’s drive toward self-realization compelling. Maybe that’s a big part of why people respond positively to them.

    • North of Boston says:

      Exactly!

We have a saying in my family about the behavior of certain toxic family members,

      “Always disappointing. Never surprising.”

We might hope they’d change, do better, make baby steps. But we never expect them to or count on them to. And if they happen to smile and seemed cordial briefly… but that’s only because they are seeking info, or the ability to pretend /lie that they haven’t been pretty much iced out of their victims lives “oh when I saw N. O. Boston last week she said …” to fake their image somehow.

But they don’t change, they don’t want to change and they probably won’t ever change, so we just don’t ever expect them to.

I suspect both Harry and Meghan are familiar with that experience with them FOOs.

  20. Mel says:

I seriously doubt he was surprised by anything, they’re his family, he knows how they are, he left because of the way they are. I hope he doesn’t go. After all the things that happened with Diana, they learned absolutely NOTHING!

  21. Jan says:

Harry is a working man, vacation time in the US is not like Europe or other Countries.
The BM seems to think Harry is sitting on his arse, and can pick up and come to any ribbon cutting on demand.
The leakers had no info to leak to the BM, on what Harry was doing on his visit to England, he trust his family so much, they didn’t even know when he was leaving the country or else they would’ve leaked the details.

    • (The OG) Jan90067 says:

Yes, Harry is a “working man”, but let’s not pretend he has to punch a time clock or is held to a “9-5” working schedule lol. If he needs to take off for something, whether it’s the birth of his child or something else, he can and will; there are computers, phones, etc.

Harry will do what is best for him, his family, and his beliefs. And I don’t think kowtowing to his Incandescent Brother, the BM, and the Salty Island Brexiteers is even *on* his list, let alone near the top of his priorities.

      • Cessily says:

He may not be 9-5 but a lot of positions and jobs are moving away from that.
Sadly many end up being available 24/7 when your office and home are one. My son has been working from home in his last two jobs, very successful but he has not had an office to report to in years.

  22. Amelia says:

What really pisses me off I’d how every time “reporters” mention how much Meghan and Harry’s house costs. What about how much Bucking Palace costs?! What about how much Kensington Palace costs? If you look on statista.com taxpayers paid just under £70 million pound in 2020 alone? We could’ve used that money to fund our NHS and pay our nurses and frontline heroes the pay they DESERVE and not the sham they’re currently receiving. But sure let’s stand over the fact that BP are standing in the shoulders of hardworking taxpayers and colonialism and clutch are big fat pearls over the fact that H&M live in a place just 15% of that amount THAT THEY BOUGHT THEMSELVES!!!!! (Cue sputtering) 🙄

    • ElleE says:

@amelia “What really pisses me off I’d how every time “reporters” mention how much Meghan and Harry’s house costs.”

Is it possible that the press is trolling the no-paycheck royals? The royals that would not be approved for a home mortgage as they would struggle to complete a standard US bank mortgage application? (Cue Meghan Markle producing years of past tax returns, as proof of $ she earned and paid taxes on unlike some of her in-laws…)

      • Amelia says:

Not the British press. They’re the absolute worse!
They’d lick the royals feet if it meant them getting some financial profit from it

  23. Jan says:

Meghan and Harry are appearing May 8 at a ‘Vax Live Concert’ Reunite The World.
Most likely it will be via Zoom, Biden and other world leaders along with musicians will be participating.

  24. Mabs A'Mabbin says:

Part of me wishes H and M would say frak it, and lay out all the royal crap they can remember…an itemized list of deplorable behavior and secrets and skeletons and anything else swept under the rug. Make the tabloids and the royal journalists dizzy and drowning in fear. Give all of them aneurysms and be done with it forever.

  25. Amy Bee says:

I don’t think Harry was shocked by the alleged reception by the family at all. He knows that they have frozen people out who dared to criticise them, heck they did that to his mother. Let’s not forget that he spoke to Charles and William following the Oprah interview and that went nowhere so he was not surprised about their behaviour towards him. The constant painting of the Royal Family as the victims is gaslighting to the highest degree.

Oh and the press probably already know that Harry is not coming for the unveiling because of Meghan’s pregnancy.

  26. Eurydice says:

Lurking admirer barging in here. Yes, Harry grew up in a snake pit – but he was still shocked at how his wife was treated, was shocked at how he was treated by his brother, was shocked that KP shut him off from meeting with his grandmother, and was shocked that his father wouldn’t return his phone calls. The only way Harry would have been shocked at his grandfather’s funeral is if William had given him a big hug and kissed him on both cheeks.

I’m also in the “Harry won’t go to the unveiling” camp. I think he and Meghan will make some kind of charitable gesture in Diana’s honor through their foundation.

    • Cessily says:

If the British and tabloids were decent they would be asking why the unveiling had to be at a time so close to the babies arrival.. surely if anything can be postponed it’s a ceremonial unveiling..

    • Amelia says:

I hope they do that. Give a generous charitable foundation and make Willileaks look a like a complete fool with the statue

    • Saucy&Sassy says:

Eurydice, I’ve been reading the comments and wondering how Harry could do something to honor his mother. A statute, while nice for palace grounds, isn’t very personal. I like the idea of him making a charitable donation to one of her causes. That would be in keeping with Sentabale and the land mine issue. Donating to accomplish something she would want.

  27. Izzy says:

Doubt he was all that shocked. The Keenbridges may welcome him back, but especially after Uncle Gary’s latest rounds, I doubt he wants to be anywhere near them.

  28. IRMAVEP says:

I wonder how Commonwealth countries which have largely non-white populations feel about this shunning of Harry because he didn’t marry an ‘English rose'[!?!]; then spoke out against his wife’s racist savaging by some member[s] of the RF and the BM ; and finally was frozen out by his brother, father, uncles, aunt and their spouses when he appeared at his grandfather’s funeral? People in these countries have mobile phones, internet access and source online international papers. They must be looking on aghast at the blatant racist abuse, and racist abuse by association, passing as commentary in the UK.
I ask because today I came upon Kaiser’s ‘Duchess Meghan hosted an event at the palace for commonwealth universities’ dated 12/3/20 – the day Meghan left the UK for good as a working member of the RF. She spent some hours meeting post grads and academics at ACUs. Despite being about to catch an international flight that day, Meghan was prepared, informed, willing to participate in discussions, not to just listen to the subjects being raised. She dazzled everyone there. Not because of the elegant dress she wore – though she looked beautiful and elegant – but because she engaged in the discourse. She knew and remembered who each student was. Must admit I teared up. It’s gut wrenching to read, as is the accompanying article by Scobie in Harpers B. Later that day, Meghan and Harry attended the Comm. service at W A together- yes, THAT service! What a loss to the Commonwealth, to royal patronage, to the UK when Meghan, and later Harry left. How sad those attending the event at BP must have felt. And what is in their place? A pair of bored, work-shy, ninnies, with no opinions and nothing to contribute.

    • Cessily says:

The Australian and New Zealand tv commentators have been on a brutal attack against the Sussex’s in the shows I have streamed and written complaints to.

  29. EliseM says:

Since when is the birth of a child a “convenient excuse” for anything? Why not word it “the birth would be a logical reason for him not to attend”. You know, pandemic and all. These people are trying too hard to set themselves up for a future ” I told you so” story. They are appalling and make the Royal Family out to be nothing more than low class fair. This hypercritical reporting is repulsive.

    • L4frimaire says:

This is how they try to manipulate a narrative to suit them. Harry will have a newborn and wife recovering and hello, still a pandemic. They said this same thing after Meghan wouldn’t meet Trump because she just had a baby. There is no reason this unveiling can’t be postponed if they really want Harry there ( some speculate they actually want Meghan there). If this particular date is so important then have it without Harry, and Will can stand around with sad face to get sad, incandescent Will write ups in the press. This whole thing is just dumb.

  30. Liz version 700 says:

I am pretty sure nothing this toxic and petty family does would shock Harry at all

  31. NotSoSimpleTaylor says:

Harry didn’t look like he cared at all. The only person who I think he cared about is The Queen.

  32. Courtney B says:

Banner headline. ‘Person looks sad at a funeral.’ That’s some Pulitzer Prize winning instigative journalism right there. Harry couldn’t possibly be solemn and sad looking because he’s *grieving*? Good lord. Let’s call in the body language pseudo experts to examine every expression.

  33. Harper says:

Wasn’t Diana Harry’s mother too? How can Will “ban” Meghan from accompanying Harry to a private service for Harry’s own mom? Likewise, move the date of the statue unveiling to some other point in time when Harry doesn’t have, you know, a MAJOR LIFE EVENT like the arrival of his newborn daughter happening. Will is showing his bullying, controlling side through his tyrannical lack of inclusion where Harry is concerned. I hope Meghan is working on a book because Will has been jerking Harry and Meghan around since forever, and we know our Megs keeps meticulous notes. I hope when it does happen that the finished manuscript is in the publisher’s hands before it’s announced because these royals would definitely try to stop Meghan’s account of what really went on with Will & Kate from reaching the public.

  34. NewKay_ says:

I think Harry was generally oblivious to how horrible his family truly are. His comments at his engagement where he said Megan would have the family she never had is an example of that. He truly believed she would be welcomed with open arms and they’d be one happy family.

I think she knew different and let it play out as it would.

I like Harry, but he’s only just beginning to live some semblance of real life- so I can totally believe that he thought he’d be fine as the son of Charles.

  35. aquarius64 says:

Harry should say he is not going to the memorial because his wife is being banned just like she was when she was a fiancée. Let’s see how that goes over.

    • Neesee says:

Harry took his other girlfriends but William would not let Meghan go??….

    • serena says:

He should make a speech about Diana, what was important to her and what they did to her, like make it about her instead of himself *cough William and Kate * .

  36. MyJobIsToPrincess says:

I throwing this idea in the world that American supporters of the Sussexes will one day unveil a beautiful DIANA statue in California. That would be such a strong sentimental gift for Harry and a strong statement in favor of them. too political probably to be true, but we never know…

  37. MangoAngelesque says:

Why do they cite the value of their Montecito home in every. single. article. they mention Harry or Meghan in? They don’t give the real estate value of Anmer or Apartment 1A at Kensington Palace or their place at Sandringham. But Harry’s one house, they practically take out a Zillow listing on every paragraph.

    • SenseOfTheAbsurd says:

Daily Mail standard. Even if the story’s about a murder victim or something, they’ll crassly include the value of their house.

  38. Legalease says:

I think it would be amazing if Harry showed up with Meghan, Archie, and the baby. It would be adorable and the haters would be SO pressed to see him happy with his little family.

  39. Sophie says:

Going from one to two babies was SO hard for my husband and me. Going from two to three babies was much easier, even in a pandemic, but I still would have had a horrible, horrible time if my husband had to leave for a couple days during those first three months. We are lucky to have lots of help and resources, but dealing with a plugged duct, or cluster feedings, or a food intolerance through breast milk, or the very normal big kids’ adjustment period, etc without my partner would have had a serious impact on my mental health. If he decides to stay home, it won’t be an excuse. It’ll be part of growing a family and being where he is needed most. I hope / think Diana would have wanted him to put his babies first.

  40. serena says:

As if he needs a ‘convenient excuse not to face the family’, they gave him plenty of reasons.

“Certainly Kate and William will welcome him if he wants to come back”, LOL, of course, I’m sure they really can’t wait!

Are these supporters high or something?

Also, the sad irony of the Diana statue.. smh.
