BBC royal correspondent claimed Duchess Meghan ‘radicalized’ Prince Harry

Britain's Prince Harry (L) and his fiancee US actress Meghan Markle (R) visit Nechells Wellbeing Centre to join Coach Core apprentices taking part in a training masterclass in Birmingham, central England on March 8, 2018. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle visited Birmingham to learn more about the work of two projects which support young people from the local community. The Coach Core apprenticeship scheme was designed by The Royal Foundation of The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry to train young people aged 16 - 24 with limited opportunities to become sports coaches and mentors within their communities.

Prince Harry’s Armchair Expert interview is still making waves over there on Salty White Folk Isle. The royal commentators and the British media are doing the same thing with this interview that they did with the Oprah interview: picking and choosing which parts to highlight, willfully misquoting and misinterpreting Harry’s words, and behaving as if Harry has no right to speak his truth, to tell his story. One bold royal correspondent even decided that everything just has to be Meghan’s fault. Again, Harry did this interview solo. Meghan was at home, minding her business. But Jonny Dymond, the BBC’s “royal correspondent,” said on air:

“It’s been put to me by people in different quarters that this is largely as a result of Meghan, that he was happier in his role before Meghan. He himself says in this podcast she was part of the process of him understanding there was a different way and a different place for him to be, he’s pretty open about that. The way some people in the palace see it, she stirs the pot for her own motives and radicalises Harry.”

[From The Sun]

I’ve seen royal Twitter all abuzz with the use of “radicalize” in this context, and yes, it’s deplorable and offensive and dog-whistle racism. But I find this interesting: “It’s been put to me by people in different quarters…” Meaning, this is how the palaces are briefing against the Sussexes, because they’re all still briefing against the Sussexes. The official line from Kensington Palace, Clarence House and Buckingham Palace is still that it’s all Meghan’s fault, that Harry is dumb and weak and that sly, clever Meghan “radicalized” him and convinced him to abandon his family. Nevermind that Harry spoke about all of that openly and clearly, and he said with his whole chest that he wanted to leave that toxic environment years before he even met Meghan.

Other royal commentators are just doing fill-in-the-blank type comments at this point. Meghan and Harry take a breath and Angela Levin and Robert Jobson run to Good Morning Britain to cry bitter tears about how Harry is so dumb for breathing and Meghan is so cruel for convincing him to breathe.

Speaking on Good Morning Britain, Angela Levin said: “This lack of understanding of anyone else’s position, for Prince Charles, who as we saw when the funeral took place, he was absolutely devastated to lose his father. And the Queen, at 95, bravely went to open Parliament again but you could tell she wasn’t the same Queen. She’s desperately upset, she adores Harry. And Prince Charles has done his best.” Summing up her thoughts on Prince Harry’s damning words on the podcast, the expert added: “So, it is unspeakably, ruthlessly cruel.”

Angela Levin, who spent a year with the Duke as she wrote his biography, also accused him of deliberately “punishing” his family for “wronging him and Meghan Markle”. The Duke is “not an idiot”, but has been “brainwashed as a victim,” she said.

Royal expert Robert Jobson said on the Australian breakfast show Sunrise: “He believes this himself, and mental health is a big, big issue out there, but come on – really to keep harping on like this is getting embarrassing. To criticise his father for his parenting skills, but also the Queen and Prince Philip, who only just had his funeral – he’s only just lost his grandfather. I think it smacks of pretty shameless behaviour.”

He added that other royals would have listened to the damning podcast, saying: “I know for a fact that people around them have heard it and seen reports online and it’s going to be all over the papers.”

[From The Sun]

There’s the Streisand Effect happening, of course, where royal commentators’ complaints are, in essence, hyping the interview and encouraging people to listen to the pod. But once people listen to it, they’ll understand that the commentators’ complaints are made up of lies, half-truths, misquotes, hysteria and racism. So I don’t really get the endgame for the royals and their commentary class here. Are they just going to continue to live in a parallel universe where they make up their own stories? Are they just happy to live in this delusional bubble where they can say sh-t like “Harry was ruthlessly cruel by speaking publicly about his mental health”? It doesn’t seem like the “we’ll just stay in the delusional bubble” thing is a good long-term plan, you guys.

The people in the palaces are nuts.

    • Kimberly says:

they’re seriously unhinged and acting like gaslighting lifetime movie villians. The more they say, the crazier they sound. They should just be quiet and let the cards fall…

    • AlpineWitch says:

If only the nutcases were confined to the palaces… Unfortunately they’re all over the media too.

    • Pork chops & Apple sauce says:

If they gave up their titles as the UK tabloids, I mean UK press is crying out for, what would be next? Give up your first and last names?! Where does it end for these weirdo tools?

  2. Miranda says:

Oooh! Does this mean she gets a cool “Hanoi Jane” style nickname? Montecito Meg?

And how pissed must Kate be that Meghan does the revolutionary thing better than she does?

    • JanetDR says:

That have me a laugh this morning!

    • Carmen-JamRock says:

Actually, it would be: Princess Henry.
They should heed Aesop: be careful what you wish for.

      • Kkat says:

And the people and the media in the US would shorten it to Princess Meg or Princess Meghan
I will be so here for the meltdowns that will cause.
And there will be NOTHING the racist 🤡 can do about it 😂👸

  3. Merricat says:

    Take that, crises managers!
They are determined to self-destruct. This war on the Sussexes that the rota and the royal family are insisting on won’t be won by them, now or ever. And to use the word “radicalize” is probably one of the most irresponsible choices to come out of the Bitter Isle, and one more thing the world won’t forget.

    • Agreatreckoning says:

Right!! It is very irresponsible for them to use that word, not shocking though. The Bitter Isle/monarchy has used that word for centuries to describe anyone that wants to declare independence from them and are willing to blame everyone except themselves for Harry deciding to break free from the mental health oppression they expected him to go along with to maintain their facade. All the royal rota’s are doing is demonstrating they don’t have memory, listening and reading skills.

  4. Becks1 says:

So Harry did say that Meghan helped him see how therapy could benefit him etc, but that was in context of how unhappy he was as a working royal, how he didnt want to be a working royal, etc. So saying that he was happy before Meghan came along is just false.

    • Cecilia says:

Which is what he says in the podcast no? He wasn’t happy as a royal before meghan came a long. He quite literally says he wanted out in his 20’s. Thats well before he even knew her name.

      • Becks1 says:

Exactly – that’s my point. But of course it doesn’t fit the media narrative of Meghan “driving Harry away from his family” or whatever.

      • Mac says:

It was no secret that Harry didn’t want to live in the royal bubble. I think he would have left regardless of who he married.

      • Izzy says:

He was interviewed in the middle of a freaking war zone saying how much he liked being away from England. A WAR ZONE. This started way before he met his wife.

    • macko says:

Prince Harry, has consistently talked about the happiest years of his life was the 10 years in the Armforces in Afghanastan. the friends around him hinted is antipathy for the show pony aspect of the RF life. His hate for the tabloid media, and vocal insistence that they killed his MOTHER. Amazing the sudden amnesia, all the royal experts and same media now have.

  5. Lauren says:

I don’t really think that people are interested in feeling the need to research just why they hate Harry and Meghan. I’m starting to understand that they don’t read beyond a headline, especially since most articles are behind paywalls, and I think that that is what the BM and the aides and palaces are aiming for. Complete approval and support to the RF created by the BM, while completely tearing down H&M with scandalizing headlines that are created by misquoting or misrepresenting a truth. They know that Harry has been wanting to leave the family business for decades, Harry had said it many times before, they know that this isn’t Meghan, but they still want people to believe that being a royal is everything, but here we have two people that have left that family happy and thriving. The image that they create in the papers just doesn’t add up to reality, but it doesn’t matter because they well create so many more lies that you just can’t keep up.

    • Demi says:

Yeah it’s all propaganda but how are they planning to continue doing the same thing and thinking people will believe it I mean the interview with Harry is all to listen for free online people with brains will eventually understand that the stuff written are not what said in the podcast.

  6. Snuffles says:

As I said in the other post, I think after a lifetime of bottling up and repressing his feelings, Harry is so extraordinarily RELIEVED that he can speak openly and freely now that he won’t be shutting up anytime soon. I genuinely believe this is healing for him.

And if Meghan’s act of telling Harry that it was ok to get therapy and be open about it that was deemed “radical”, then The Firm has lost the plot. Because Harry has been saying he’s been unhappy for the last 20 years. The only difference is that someone finally listened to him.

  7. lanne says:

Royal institution, including rota, courtiers, and even family members:

“Are we all in a circle? Can we all see each other? Great! Ready, aim—”

All of them thinking before the final word is called “THIS will show Harry and Meghan who’s boss”

    • Xoxo says:

ANGELA LEVIN IS A BLOODY LIAR! She never spent a year with Harry to write her book. She may have taken a year to write her book, but she makes it seem like she shadowed Harry for a year, when in actuality, she had a 20 minute interview, and shadowed him on a couple of events. These Rota rats bring out the worst feeling in me. Ugh.

      • SenseOfTheAbsurd says:

I wouldn’t rule out that the mad bitch shadowed him informally. Like hiding in the bushes outside his windows, rummaging through his bin and stealing his underwear to suck.

      • Agreatreckoning says:

Xoxo-With you on all that about Angela Levin. I don’t believe she spent a year with him either…20 minutes might be a stretch too.lol I’ve mentioned before that she’s proclaiming herself to be his personal biographer. Haven’t seen where it’s considered or could be called an authorized biography.

        @SenseofTheAbsurd-hahahahaha

  8. The Hench says:

The commentariat don’t give a sh*t about the royal family – they care about eyeballs on stories. I suspect that, privately, many of the reporters are thoroughly enjoying the shoeing being handed out. I’m sure they are more than aware of just how dysfunctional it really is behind the scenes and the more drama they can create/reveal, the better.

    • BothSidesNow says:

As we all know it’s for clicks, ratings and the continuing assault against Meghan as the “woke “, “5A emails”, “causing fits of cry’s and bullying” that have created this unethical behaviour.

    • lanne says:

except that they have completely cut off themselves from their meal tickets. No more decades of front row coverage of the Sussexes. No more “first to the press” stories about the Sussexes. All they get are the leftovers. They will never have a scoop or an exclusive again. The more they criticize after the fact, the more deranged they look. There are even writing campaigns against the ratchets who like to speak on US TV, which is a really important market for them. They are losing money hand over fist, and their audience is becoming increasing racist and insular. Some of them are already openly engaging with racists on social media, and leaving a slime trail that US networks will be increasingly paying attention to.

I wonder if we’ll see some of the calmer ratchets like Victoria Arbiter jump ship? More and more might look to position themselves like Omid Scobie, who has made substantial money with his book about the Sussexes. Once the smarter ratchets stop their whining, they may start going where the money is, especially if they want to sell books outside of the UK

    • macko says:

Harry already gave up the game between the MEDIA and the ROYAL FAMILY. It is a self sustaining industry for the RF and the Tabloids. It keeps them employed and the Monarchy Industry intact. Worldwide when you say the Royal Family, no one thinks you’re talking about any other monarch except the British. Anyone of the members who deem to leave or have an individual voice better learn the Princess Diana story. She too was declared a
LIAR, CRAZY, PARANOID, NARCISSITIC. Do a Google search of the stories about Harry and
Meghan…….all the same phrases and accusations are being leveled at them. And this latest Bashir comeuppance, cannot change the ultimate TRUTH of Princess Diana’s interview of her marriage, Charles and Camilla. And who is Charles now married to??????

  9. MsIam says:

Growing up in a dysfunctional household, one of the earliest lessons I learned was don’t ever tell anyone what happens at home. Either shut up or make up a lie, but never speak the truth. Consequences would be swift if you did. Seeing this negative reaction to what Harry is saying about his family and upbringing is really triggering to me. I was talking to some people once and I mentioned that my father was an alcoholic and I actually felt a shiver of fear for saying that out loud even though he’s been dead for thirty years. I say good for Harry for feeling so free to speak matter of factly about his life, I don’t know if its a generational thing or what. And thank God he has Meghan there to support him.

  10. Lizzie Bathory says:

I feel pretty confident that Prince Philip wouldn’t appreciate his dead ass being used as a cudgel against his grandson. But the Windsors are fond of using corpses for PR these days, so what do I know?

  11. MTC says:

Wow. What a nice response during mental health awareness week. Can they really not see the messaging on this? The fact that the pr team is not telling baldingham to speak up in support of his brother’s conversations about mental health as supporting a healthy dialog to destigmatize mental health issues is a huge missed opportunity

  12. Chic says:

Is part of the Streisand effect paid for in form of bots? The Keens are always trending on Twitter these days and it seems so suspect. Like that Wolverhampton event trended but when you clicked on Tweets the event was lackluster and those types of events never trended for HM like that in the past HM or not

  13. SpankFD says:

The RF and RR would *drown* in a meritocracy.

IMHO if the RF and RR didn’t blame H&M, they’d have to admit their own culpability in sustaining their self-serving, oppressive social and economic systems. They and their centuries old racism, sexism, isolationism, and nationalism are the problem.

But yes, they do believe they can spin their lies without consequence or confrontation. They are following Trump’s lead (ironic, given their distaste). What give me hope is the fact that truth has a way of cutting through lies — usually to people’s detriment — in the long-term. For example, viruses don’t care about your lies; they will kill or maim without prejudice. Global Warming doesn’t care if you believe in it. It will impact your lives and the lives of your descendants.

God, I’m so sick of leaders who are so unworthy of being followed.

    • Demi says:

Apparently, there was a bus going around with the picture of the Queen in MAGA hat lol the trumpets deliberately choosing queen for their shenanigans for a reason, and it’s so obvious how the media surrounding the RF following Trump leads

      • lanne says:

I saw that report! Buck House demanded the pictures be taken down, but the damage is already done. Royal=MAGA isn’t completely solidified in the US yet, but they are well on that path.

  14. Haylie says:

Cry me a whole fucking River about Poor Charles swing devastated by burying his 99 year old father whilst in his 70s. Harry had to very publicly bury his mother when he was 12. After which, there was NO ONE looking out for his well-being because he was the spare. After watching his father use the press to destroy his mother.

    Fuck Charles. Fuck the RR.

  15. LaraW” says:

Radicaization has very strong connotations with international terrorism, extremist violence, brainwashing, and threats to national security. This is really dangerous language and the fact that it’s being broadcast by the BBC, a once reputable news source which still holds much of the public’s trust as a reliable and unbiased media outlet worries me. WTF is going on in the UK?

    • Zapp Brannigan says:

The first name that springs to mind when I read the word “radicalized” is Shamima Begum, the British media knows exactly what it is doing and they need to be hauled over the coals about their behaviour.

    • AlpineWitch says:

“WTF is going on in the UK?”

It’s a full-on war on foreigners. Apparently, as a foreigner I have also radicalised my husband who now loves foreign food and stuff as a consequence of having married me.

It’s simply not understandable for non-UK residents, the hostility is staggering. I will never get over that comment coming from an English lady who said I was contaminating the English gene pool by merely existing on England’s soil. Some people here are wholly ‘radicalised’ by English nationalism’s propaganda and media like the BBC are complicit in this.
It’s staggering the number of English flags flying on poles in private house gardens that have started appearing since 2016.

      • LaraW” says:

@AlpineWitch— my first reaction is always anger, so please take it in the best way when I say the person who said that to you is a pile of soggy goatshit, I’m sorry you had to experience that, and I hope you’re safe.

  16. Lizzie says:

He should be required to back up that comment or be fired. Put up or shut up.

  17. Over it says:

These people can all just go f themselves. The 3 palaces, the media in the uk and Australia. Sick of all of them . Get off Meghan f——ing back.

  18. Serena says:

What even is this bs “he was happier in his role before Meghan”? He said it himself he was utterly miserable, what are they smoking over there to have such delusional dreams?

    • Jegede says:

It’s all part of the ‘Harry come home’, narrative they’ve put in store.

      They want Harry back.
      So it’s a case of:
‘This isn’t the real Harry.’ This isn’t our Hazza. SHE has put him up to this.
      SHE HAS DONE THIS.😐😐😐😐
He’ll divorce her, marry some Tory blonde and all will be well.

It’s why I can’t understand people wanting Meghan to ever return to an island/people, who remain so overtly hostile & poisonous, to her very being in every single way.🤐

  19. Lara says:

“the Queen, at 95, bravely went to open Parliament again”

What exactly was brave about this? It was a ceremony. She’s the queen. ??????????????

Dear British people, can you explain wtf is up with your weird country?

    • AlpineWitch says:

“Dear British people, can you explain wtf is up with your weird country?”

It’s become an asylum, anything foreign or non-white is belittled or abused….

  20. Bess says:

I have to keep going back to what Meghan said during her interview during the Africa tour. She mentioned that her British friends warned her that even though Harry is a great guy, she would be in for a tough time.

Given that Meghan knew the Diana and Sarah Ferguson stories, I wonder what kind of family Meghan thought that she was marrying into?

Meghan is a smart lady with a ton of life experience. How could she think that she’d be able to win over a hypercritical media as a total outsider?

    • Gail Hirst says:

Because Meghan KNEW (and knows) who SHE is. That’s why she thought she’d be able to win over the household and reporters. By actually “hitting the ground running” and doing good, measurable work and having a strong work ethic and having EXPERIENCE. I’m sure it never occurred to her she’d be putting Waity & Wandering to shame. She was probably only thinking about being sure to support Harry, Harry’s work and make Harry proud.
“I thought it would be fair”. She knew she’d be attacked, but NOBODY could have imagined the depths to which they would sink. Nobody.

    • ABritGuest says:

Well in terms of the family she said they were welcoming initially which lines up with what Diana said too. I’m guessing she wasn’t aware of the family’s ‘caution’ about her until she was well in. And last person to marry in was Kate. The firm made a big deal about making sure the Middletons were included & she has been quite protected by the firm so I think many assumed they had evolved. I certainly did and I’m a Brit living here where the royal family has been relatively drama free for years.

So I imagine Meghan thought she’d be ok (albeit with typical low brow racism for any high profile POC) as long she worked hard and avoided scandals. Not sure anyone could have predicted quite the violent reaction eg she would be accused of funding terrorism for a cookbook or recently turning a generation of kids of reading because of her ‘woke’ children’s book which isn’t out yet. Usually most high profile figures get a break when pregnant but they were relentless with her. The difference is she wasn’t protected by the firm unlike any other married in so it was a free for all.

Also as I’ve mentioned previously she joined the family at a time of heightened bigotry and toxic political discourse in Britain so it was a perfect storm that nobody could have predicted.

      • BlueToile says:

You just brought up an excellent point. When Kate married into the RF the entire narrative was the institution was going to protect her and not let what happened to Diana happen again. For the most part they have done that. This is like night and day from how Meghan has been treated from Day 1. 🤨

      • SenseOfTheAbsurd says:

That’s very true about the timing. She was always going to be subjected to hazing and abuse, because it’s an institution of bullies and narcissists obsessed with pecking order, but also got unlucky with the timing, marrying in when the UK is apparently having some kind of psychotic break in which massive racism and xenophobia is being whipped up, and the West in general is having one of those episodes when racism and white supremacy come out from under the rocks and are much more out in open view. As soon as the Brexit vote was finished, all the closet racists were emboldened and ramped up overt and public attacks, encouraged by the media, and that’s the exact timeframe for Meghan arriving in the UK.

    • Becks1 says:

I think its like what she said in that interview – she didn’t think it would be easy, but she thought it would be fair. She probably expected criticisms about her clothes, or honest criticism about a project she did or something, but I dont think she expected to be accused of trying to kill Princess Charlotte with her wedding flowers. And I don’t think she expected to be destroyed for things that Kate also did while the palace did nothing for her, considering how the palace protected Kate.

    • Carmen-JamRock says:

      @Bess says:

“Meghan is a smart lady with a ton of life experience…..How could she think that she’d be able to win over a hypercritical media as a total outsider?”

Now write another post beginning with:
Britain is a so-called country with global importance. How could it pretend so well to uphold democratic ideals, when in fact, it is one of the most backward, xenophobic, racist, insular, depressing little islands that apparently hasnt evolved much beyond the Middle Ages?

    • Jaded says:

@Bess – Meghan didn’t think she’d be able to win over a hypercritical media as a total outsider…she thought she’d be treated with common decency and respect. She thought by virtue of her own intelligence, strong work ethic and humanity she’d be accorded a chance to prove herself to her in-laws and the country. She thought she and Harry could bring a stuffy, hidebound, protocol-heavy and archaic monarchy into the 21st century with expanded charitable work. Instead she got thrown into a den of lions and torn apart.

  21. Eurydice says:

There’s really no point in lamenting the unfairness of it all. Harry said it in his podcast – it’s supply and demand. The BM make money from causing pain. They make money every time they create a feud between the Kate and Meghan camps. They feed the “royal experts” who feed the RF who feed the BM and it’s one big incestuous circle jerk. The only way out is OUT. To say “screw them, I’m going to take care of myself and my family, I’m going to work on what’s important to me and try to do some good, and let them say whatever they want.”

  22. aquarius64 says:

Again this is the British press FRUSTRATED about how powerless it is outside the UK. Even weaponizing the Markles isn’t helping. If the Sussexes are so horrible these major companies and organizations would not seek partnerships with them.

  23. Amy Bee says:

There’s no way for a person to be an advocate for mental health without talking about his/her own experiences. It is clear that Harry has decided to speak out more about his issues in order to help others. The Palace and the press will just have to accept that.

    • lanne says:

The fact that apparently Will and Kate don’t know that is flabbergasting. They think you just show up and get your picture taken with some folks. What utter contempt the two of them must have for British citizens who aren’t aristos.

      • Shoshone says:

W&K looking down their noses at everyone who isn’t an aristo (to paraphrase) while all the while the Aristos are busy looking down THEIR noses at the Royal family including W&K. It sounds like a comedy bit from the Benny Hill show.

  24. Mabs A'Mabbin says:

Why do they want Harry back then? If they truly believe Meghan strong-armed him to America through weeks, months, and years of ‘radicalization,’ (smdh), why want him back? Why continue to constantly bring them up? Every single line item coming from them undermines their whole imagined existence. It makes everyone NOT Harry and Meghan look ridiculous lol. And that’s if Harry IS being led around on Megan’s leash. He’s not which makes everything even MORE hysterically tragic delivering self-inflicted sanctimonious fiction for what? Readership? Even that’s horrible. Insanity.

    • Saucy&Sassy says:

Mabs A’Mabbin, I haven’t looked at comments, but can anyone tell me if the US media has picked up the fact that they said M radicalized H? This is so unbelievable that I’m hoping there’s all kinds of US media paying attention. If the BM’s intent is to show how completely out of touch the UK is, well they’ve certainly attained their goal.

They do know that these types of sound bites are embarrassing to the folks on that island, right?

  25. Liz version 700 says:

Whew, the blatant racism and the casual weaponizing of it against a very pregnant woman is breathtaking. God they are vile

    • Merricat says:

@ Liz, Yes, it’s quite a look for the monarchy, isn’t it? Any claim that Britain may have had to the mantle of gracious civilization is ashes. Appalling.

  26. Carmen-JamRock says:

Youre peddling a lie, just like the shitrags.

M said she wanted to GO TO AN INSTITUTION…..SHE WANTED TO BE AN INPATIENT AT A FACILITY FOR MENTAL HEALTH CARE. TO CONQUER HER SUICIDAL FEELINGS.

That permission WAS DENIED by the RF because THEY were afraid that it would make them look bad.

After initially feeling shame that his family had caused his wife to get into a suicidal state, he got help for her, via his mother’s friend. And subsequently, got his whole family the hell out of dodge.

Thats why M credited her husband with saving her life.

ETA: Ooooops! Guess the moderator got rid of the troll I responded to.

  27. Thirtynine says:

I’m getting more fascinated by the Jobsons and Levins and the rest of the pack. Do they all keep in touch with each other? Are they in some sort of email circle, or go out for drinks? Do they sit around and decide what their new talking points are going to be? Are the ‘multiple sources’ they all talk about mostly each other? Do they have some sort of competition on hinting at exclusive sources to make the others bitter and embiggen themselves? Or are they all just sitting in the dark around their computer screens reading the headlines on their own? Such a bizarre, spiteful, nasty way of making a living. It can’t be good for you.

  28. Victoria says:

What kind of PR Crises Managers do this people have? If they are paying for this kind of advice they might as well hire me and let me do it for half the price.

It’s kind of crazy to me because this proves that they are STILL talking against Harry and Meghan. They being the Palace Peons.

I am up here baffled at why they want to go down so low like this.

It doesn’t even make sense. Do they want the monarchy to continue at all?

Actually, on second thought. Keep doing what you are doing BRF. Down you go.
