Emma Stone wore head-to-toe Louis Vuitton for the ‘Cruella’ premiere: cute?

The pandemic changed a lot of stuff in all our lives, some of it for the better, some of it worse. It wasn’t until this moment that I realized just how much I missed premieres and premiere photos. We haven’t seen an honest-to-God in-person premiere since… what? March 2020. Since Disney is the biggest game in town, they’re the first ones through the “receding pandemic premiere” door. The red carpet for Cruella was socially distanced and limited for the number of people invited to be on the carpet, as well as limited with the number of photographers allowed on the rope line. THR says no media outlets were allowed inside the venue (El Capitan Theatre in LA) and there were many safety protocols in place. It would look really bad for Disney if a new mom like Emma got sick or something!

Emma Stone just gave birth at the end of March. She clearly was in no mood to do a big splashy Vivienne Westwood gown for the premiere. I can just imagine Emma telling someone to “f–k off” when they suggested she wear a corset and a basque to the premiere. So she wore a black Louis Vuitton suit, LV bag and LV jewelry. Emma has a contract with Louis Vuitton, obviously. The reason I made the Westwood reference is because Cruella is set in 1970s London and the fashion in the film clearly and obviously references Vivienne Westwood’s designs in every way. Cruella’s costume designer Jenny Beavan intended that! But I guess Emma wasn’t into dressing “in theme” for the promotion. Still, Emma looked great and I’m glad premieres are back in some form! And it will be exciting to see tons of little girls get exposed to British-punk fashion!

She looks fantastic! And her hair is so long! I would buy this suit in a minute.

    • MaryContrary says:

Extensions. You can buy her hair too 😉

      • Meg says:

Oh i figured prenatal vitamins and her hair grew. That and shes been out of public eye for some time with the pandemic etc. maybe it gradually grew

      • SpankyB says:

@MaryContrary – You made me snort coffee out my nose. LOL

      • NCWoman says:

Lots of women have Disney princess hair right now without extensions. My hair is stringy and horrible long, so I hacked it off my any means necessary but several friends have hair just as long as Emma.

  2. Desert Lizard says:

I love that suit and it looks great on her. Good for Emma for wearing what felt comfortable to her instead of feeling the need to gown-up and meet others’ expectations. Well done, Emma. You look fabulous!

    • BothSidesNow says:

Yes she does! The archaic criticisms against women as opposed to men on the red carpet, or any putting for the purpose of promotion, is tiring! We never hear the men get flack, but women are always held to a different criticism. Wear what you want Emma!! The critics can f@#k off!!

  3. Case says:

I think she looks awesome! She’s always a good “theme dresser” on the red carpet and this is very Cruella. Considering she just had a baby, this seems like the most chic yet comfortable option to go with.

  4. emu says:

She looks great and the suit is still very dressy. Love it. I know ppl are ragging on the Cruella movie but it looks good to me!

  5. Savu says:

Is the jacket green, or blue, or a too-light black? It bugs when a color doesn’t show up properly, whatever it is. I think it’s a dark forest green, and just shows up black in some pics? It all looks fabulous on her. The brooches!!!! And damn her long hair has always been glorious.

My mom works in a very corporate environment. She worked with a young goth woman in the early aughts, who would constantly come in and ask “do my blacks match???” That’s what this makes me think of!

    • Calibration says:

On my screen it looks blue jacket with black pants. I love it! Funny, I’m so old when I was young, that combo was a definite no no. Funny

      • Gail says:

        I know, right?!
        Black & blue = “you look like a bruise”…
We have to wear navy or green tops at work. I have black jeans. So I find myself wearing navy on top, black on the bottom quite often and now I kind of like the combo. But as a younger person…such a no-no!!!

      • SpankyB says:

Wasn’t it the late 80’s when blue/black became popular? I remember my mom telling me I’ll look like a bruise if I wear it. I had a lot of outfits for nightclub wearing in that combo. I loved it.

And brown/black. That was a no-no too at one point.

      • Tiffany :) says:

It’s a black suit in matching fabric. The light is making it look odd, but in photos up close where the sun isn’t hitting her in patchy ways, you can tell it is all the same fabric and it’s all black.

  6. Harper says:

Love her. I think she looks great. I’ve been looking forward to seeing her Cruella, especially more so now to hear that the film will include Vivienne Westwood-inspired attire. I am so starved for some good old-fashioned cinematic excess and fantasy.

  7. Lucy says:

She looks lovely and her accessories are fantastic. Her hair is so long! I saw some people on twitter mocking her because she didn’t “understand the subject” (aka dress up in full Cruella drag like Glenn Close did to attend to her premiere all those years ago) and, let’s be honest, they would have destroyed Emma if she had tried to pull off something similar. Anyways, I can’t wait to see the movie!!!

  8. Astrid says:

I”m not feeling the suit. Mismatched colors between the jacket and pants?

  9. Chaine says:

I guess I’m in the minority, it’s a perfectly fine suit but it doesn’t say “Hollywood premiere” and it’s a bit matronly for Emma. It reminds me of Elizabeth Taylor in the early 90s.

  10. Ann says:

Emma herself looks terrific, but I don’t love the outfit. The pants are stylish (like the buckle), but overall the ensemble sort of says “dressy flight attendant” to me.

    • Lemons says:

Getting the same vibes. She looks like the agent of her co-star which is the real star of the premiere in terms of outfits. I want to know more about her dress, her hair, etc. Emma’s look fell flat for me.

  11. Seraphina says:

I love Emma and so I think she looks great. Can’t wait for the movie.

  12. Léna says:

I’m so happy that she has lines on her forehead, honestly, it feels I haven’t seen a celebrity with any wrinkles in ages lol

And yes I know, it’s stupid to point it out, but it feels refreshing!

  13. Movie lover says:

It’s a good look but it’s a bit lacklustre for the premiere of a film all about fashion and the first big Disney premiere since the pandemic started. In some pictures the pants look to tight at the thighs (she just gave birth only two months ago so no hate but it just looks uncomfortable but can’t help thinking a more fashionable dress with lots of texture would have fit the vibe better.
I’ve seen that the movie has good reviews from the critics but I think it looks meh.

  14. Sof says:

No matter how many people say it’s “stylish”, pants touching the ground is something I will never understand. Emma herself looks stunning as always.
I saw on the movie’s instagram that they put the dresses on mannequins, they look great. I just want to see extravagance on red carpets again, c’mon, if it’s not movie stars, then who will wear those clothes?

Edit to say: there is something about Emma that is weirdly reminding me of Blake Lively, but I don’t know what exactly.

  15. Julianne says:

She’s wearing black, white, and red, pretty on theme if you ask me. Love the pin too. I’m feeling the suit. I certainly don’t think it looks like she was going for postpartum comfort.

  16. Liz version 700 says:

    She looks fantastic! Love it!

  17. Jules says:

She looks great, love this look on her!

  18. BeeCee says:

Emma is my celeb doppelgänger, so I’m excited about how fantastic she looks! I use her when selecting outfits to know what I will look good in… and what to steer clear from when she gets put in horrendous outfits.

I looove the long hair on her, my hair is about the same length right now, and about 1 shade darker than hers. That soft curl is so nice.

  19. Midge says:

I’m loving all of the pandemic long hair. Except Kate’s – which we know is fake and all about copying Meg. Ok, Ok, I know that was a little (celeb) bitchy.

    • Legalese says:

I’m not sure it’s fake (and I don’t really like to speculate because I remember people being so horrible to Meghan for supposedly having extensions – who cares!), but it’s totally an example of Copycat Kate. Just like her suddenly wearing paint suits, wearing “dainty” gold jewelry, etc…. The difference is Kate gets praised.

  20. L4frimaire says:

The only reason I want to see this movie is for the Westwood inspired designs. The LV suit looks good. Not glam, but good.
