Queen Elizabeth will meet President Biden at the G7 Summit next week

The Queen attends a ceremony to mark her Official Birthday

Trooping the Colour is not this coming weekend, but the weekend after, on June 12th. Weirdly, Trooping the Colour falls in the middle of Britain hosting the three-day G7 Summit in Cornwall. World leaders will be hosted in Cornwall, and the Queen is supposed to be there on June 11th (probably a day earlier) to formally greet the world leaders. Then she’ll f–k off to Windsor on June 12th for her pandemic-style fake-birthday parade, then maybe she’ll return to Cornwall after that? It sounds stupidly busy for a 95-year-old queen, but I guess they can’t just change the Trooping the Colour date on a whim. The Daily Mail says that the Queen will be accompanied by the Duke of Kent for Trooping, and then she’s bringing out the senior royals for the G7 summit.

The Queen will have a ‘plus one’ for her official birthday parade in Windsor next month as the Royal Family continues to rally round the bereaved Monarch, The Mail on Sunday can reveal. Her Majesty cut a solitary figure last year at a scaled-back parade – also known as Trooping the Colour – in the Quadrangle of Windsor Castle. The pandemic meant it was switched from its usual venue at Horse Guards Parade in London. However, for this year’s Trooping the Colour on June 12, the Queen will be accompanied by her cousin, the Duke of Kent. He was with her at the 2013 ceremony when Prince Philip was recovering from surgery.

Palace sources say that after the limitations imposed by the pandemic and a period of mourning for the Duke of Edinburgh, the Queen will be increasing her personal engagements. As well as Trooping the Colour, which will feature more military personnel than last year, she will meet US President Joe Biden when he arrives next month for the G7 summit of leading industrial nations.

While plans are still to be finalised, it is believed the Queen, 95, will travel to Cornwall – where the summit is being held – so she can also meet the presidents and prime ministers of Canada, France, Germany, Italy and Japan. As part of a strategy to impress the world leaders, it is expected that the Monarch will be joined by Prince Charles, the Duchess of Cornwall and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

Charles, an avid environmentalist, has told aides he is keen to meet Mr Biden, who in February reversed the decision by his predecessor Donald Trump to withdraw from the Paris Agreement, a legally binding international treaty to tackle climate change. Having senior Royals travel to Cornwall for the summit, held at Carbis Bay between June 11 and 13, would avoid the challenges of arranging a state visit for Mr Biden in London under any Covid-19 restrictions.

It is thought the President will be invited for a full state visit at a later date. He will be the 14th US leader to meet the Queen. Since 1951, she has met every occupant of the White House apart from Lyndon B. Johnson.

[From The Daily Mail]

First off, sending Liz, Chaz, Camilla, Billiam and Keen Buttons to meet with G7 leaders will create several international incidents. I was going to make a joke about Biden and malarkey, but honestly… it’s just nice to have an American president who doesn’t make an ass out of himself while traveling abroad. The absolute shame I felt as an American when other countries had to deal with Donald Trump… God, it was rough. Biden is a seasoned diplomat and he’s folksy as hell, so I imagine he’ll be well-received in Cornwall across the board, regardless of royal shenanigans. As for the Duke of Kent acting as Liz’s plus-one… I guess there was no one else? Charles will be in Cornwall on the 12th. Prince Michael of Kent is being fake-punished for his profiteering from royal connections. Prince Andrew is wanted by the FBI. I guess the Earl of Wessex (Edward) could accompany his mom, but maybe she doesn’t want to look like she’s playing favorites among her children.

Yeah the Duke of Kent makes sense – I’m assuming Edward may have already had something scheduled?

I am laughing at the idea of sending Kate to the G7 though. maybe just to pass through a cocktail party or something lol. I always get the impression that she is so awkward around world leaders.

    • Cecilia says:

She probably is but all she has to do is stand there and smile and nod a few times to give of the impression that she’s listening. The uk press will praise her anyways.

Honestly, i cannot wait for this state visit to be done and over with.

      • Elizabeth says:

Yeah. She can’t be any worse than Ivanka.

      • Becks1 says:

Well at least Kate won’t just waltz in and put her name up on a desk during a meeting, lol.

      • LightPurple says:

@Elizabeth, nobody could be worse than Ivanka. I suspect Kate knows better than to sit herself down in a chair during a meeting for which she has no legal authority to attend, never mind represent a country, or to insert herself into a photograph of G7 leaders and flip her hair incessantly while the photograph is being taken.

  2. Betsy says:

I’m just so glad we have a decent human being as president again. That’s it. That’s all I got. The embarrassment and rage I had when the orange traitor and his crotch fruit were representing our country was immense.

    • swirlmamad says:

Word. I’m sure too they are all happy they won’t have to worry about Biden walking in front of and cutting off Liz to stand and preen for the cameras in orange oompa-loompa glory.

      • LightPurple says:

Or be ever on alert to do a full body block or tackle to prevent Ivanka from getting within range of a picture with a Queen. She was in serious danger of Anne elbowing that chin implant up through her cranium with her antics two years ago.

      • Sid says:

I feel like that clip of him cutting in front of QEII and basically forcing this elderly person to practically hop around just to walk a straight path is so representative of the kind of person he is. Trash.

  3. Catherine says:

It will be interesting to see how they shoehorn the Cambridge’s into this. A meeting with the Queen of course is in order. Charles is essentially operating unofficial modified regency given the number of her majesty’s duties he undertakes. The Cambridge’s ??? Are they really going to lean into the whole future, future narrative with current world leaders. The BRF is desperate to get the Cambridge’s a PR photo op with Biden because they are desperately afraid that given Harry’s history with both Biden’s he will have some charitable project with the Biden administration. Watch how the RR’s make this all about trying to prop up the BRF’s status versus the Sussexes.

    • Cecilia says:

Yep, its coming. I can already see the headlines with statesman william and lynchpin kate laughing it up with the bidens and getting oh so along. This visit is going to be used to further gaslight meghans experience.

      • Alexandria says:

I’m with Cecilia. It will give the desperate rats another stupid thing to write about. They will want that photo op because these rats cannot write a WK article without dragging HM. Practically impossible.

      • Curious says:

Biden and his wife will be there for business. its not a personal friendship trip. I’m sure by now Biden /Jill know why Harry /Meghan left . but Biden is first President of the usa . don’t know if they make speeches, but if Biden talks politically about racism and things connected to that , then we will know he will not stand for discrimination of POC.

    • Betsy says:

It wouldn’t matter even if Bill and Cathy get a photo op. If the opportunity arises for Harry and Meghan to work with the Biden’s, they will. It’s just a picture and while I don’t like Bill and Cathy, they’re not nearly as toxic as the Trumpenvolk are. They were at the events with the Trumps and managed to evade photos with them.

      • swirlmamad says:

Even the RF knew to avoid being linked with Trump and his devil spawn if they could at all help it. Lol.

      • LightPurple says:

@swirmamad, that wasn’t just avoidance, it was a full scale military operation at that state dinner. Try as she might, Ivanka was not allowed anywhere within camera range of the Queen. And she tried. The best she could manage was a picture of Harry looking bored and annoyed with her and her sanitary napkin pad hat at Westminster, one of Sophie guarding her from stealing the silver at the dinner, and one the day after of Andrew tolerating her presence at a finance meeting at 10 Downing Street.

      • ShortAnswer says:

As the co-chairs, didn’t Harry and Meghan work with the Bidens on VaxLive?

    • Mac says:

Typically Biden’s first visit would be a state visit. Since that can’t happen I think they are doing a protocol meet and greet. W+K had to meet and greet the Trump klan so this seems pretty typical.

    • Becks1 says:

I think the photo op is fine but I am dreading what the RRs are going to say. If there’s a pic of Kate laughing with Dr. Jill (not sure if she will be attending or not) then its going to be another round of “eat your heart out meghan! The Bidens love Kate!”

    • TabithaD says:

Isn’t Harry pretty close to Jill Biden, in particular? Which makes me think the Bidens will be team H+M, at least privately.
I can’t see that wheeling out Kate in her most “braying hyena” mode will change that, especially as she won’t have anything interesting to say (and her dollop of a husband has nothing to add either).

    • Carty says:

Did the Keens do a photo op with the Trumps? I don’t remember seeing any

  4. Noki says:

Look at all the things you listed from this diobolical and dysfunctional family but H& M are the most ‘tainted.’?

  5. Harla says:

You just know that every world leader there will be wondering which royal made those disgusting comments about the color of Archie’s skin.

  6. NCWoman says:

Didn’t they make a big deal of saying one of the main members of the family would “always be with her” at public events from now on? That didn’t last long lol. They haven’t dusted off this guy since 2013. But I guess Bill and Keen couldn’t work it into their busy schedules.

  7. Lizzie says:

I wish Joe would mention how badly UK has treated one particular American and in fact made her cry.

  8. aquarius64 says:

I wonder if there will be a private meeting with Biden and the BRF about Meghan? After the Oprah interview the WH praised Meghan for her courage for opening up about her health and the “special relationship” between the US and the UK will be intact. The Foreign Office must have blown up BP’s phone because at the end of the day Meghan, an American citizen, went on TV to state she was mistreated on British soil and was backed up by her British husband who is a prince of the realm. FO may have been fearing diplomatic repercussions over this. Biden and his common team need to be prepared for potential questions about Meghan. Some rota rat or reporters may try time lob a grenade at Biden to get a negative quote about Meghan. They did it with Trump with success. However the main focus for the administration and most of Americans is the Biden – Putin sit down. Meet and greet with the Windsors is for the gossip press.

    • teecee says:

Oh come on, no, Biden won’t have a meeting with the BRF about Megan. The whole thing will be the BRF kissing up to Biden on behalf of the Tories to bail the UK out of the Brexit disaster. If the Tories and their royal puppets know what’s good for them, they will STFU about Megan. They do not want to back Biden into a corner by issuing racist statements that could be interpreted as anti-Kamala Harris as well.

Honestly I like the Sussexes and all but POTUS should be focussed on more important issues.

      • TD says:

So they’re there to support the Tories, and Charles is anxious to talk to Biden about climate change, but the RF is supposed to be apolitical? I know the fact they’re not is old news, but still…smh.

  9. Izzy says:

I hope that the day after President Biden meets the queen, Dr. Biden meets with Prince Harry to discuss a new initiative. But I’m kind of petty like that.

  10. jferber says:

teecee, your comment reminds me of the relationship between Winston Churchill and FDR. Churchill wrote that he felt like FDR’s mistress, always pleading and cajoling to get him to support England and get into the war sooner. When I visited FDR’s home in Hyde Park, the docent told an anecdote about the two. Churchill was visiting FDR’s New York home. FDR, who loved to play practical jokes, had his son James wheel him into Churchill’s room just as Churchill was emerging naked after a bath. Quick-thinking Churchill quipped, “The Prime Minister of England has nothing to hide from the President of the United States.” Mistress, indeed.

  11. PixiePaperdoll says:

Remember when the British press was trying to get Biden’s attention and shouted something like “I’m with the BBC!” and Biden smiled, said “I’m Irish”, and kept walking?

“Mr President, this is the Duke of Cambridge.” “Oh yeah, your brother is a good friend of mine. Great guy.”

  12. Lizzie says:

The Cambridge’s have a lot of nerve showing their faces to Biden. They have no business at a G7 and he should refuse to meet the couple.
