Tom Brady went to Joe Biden’s White House & mocked Trump supporters

Biden Welcomes the Super Bowl LV Champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Back in 2015, Tom Brady was still playing for the New England Patriots, and he was chatting with reporters in the locker room. Someone noticed a red MAGA hat in his (open) locker/cubby and Brady was asked about it. He halfway endorsed then-candidate Donald Trump and joked that Trump would put a “putting green on the White House lawn,” har har. After everyone freaked out about Brady’s half-way endorsement, Brady then walked it back and said he doesn’t enjoy thinking or talking about politics and he’s not paying attention to political issues. It’s also important to remember that Rober Kraft (the owner of the Pats) and Bill Belichick were/are big Republicans too, and big Trump-supporters. Brady also has history with Trump at a personal level, and they were friendly acquaintances before the Trump presidency. Some claimed Trump desperately wanted Tom to marry Ivanka.

Anyway, as soon as Trump came into office, Tom Brady kind of blanked him and blanked on what Trump was doing to America. One of the few times Brady went on the record about Trump during the four years of hell was regarding Trump’s unhinged comments about anthem-kneeling and Colin Kaepernick. Brady spoke about how he supported his teammates no matter what and he had their back. Then when the Patriots won a Super Bowl during the Trump administration, Brady skipped the White House ceremony. He really didn’t want to be photographed with Trump ever again. Which makes it pretty funny that Tom went to Joe Biden’s White House for a ceremony on Tuesday honoring the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for their Super Bowl victory this year. Not only that, Tom gave a little speech and made a pretty decent swipe at Trump (Brady speaks at the 1:30 mark):

Yeah. “Not a lot of people think we could’ve won. In fact, I think about 40% of the people still don’t think we won.” Biden: “I understand that!” I’m enjoying it. I still think Tom Brady is probably an a–hole, but I love the fact that Trump probably wept when this happened. Plus, it’s just nice to see a big group of big manly men enjoying the Biden White House. Trump always wanted to be seen as a macho dude when really he was a chickensh-t coward. All of those men looked relieved and happy to hang out with President Biden.

Smiles and humor all around. Well done, Tom.

  2. Anna says:

Well we know what happened with Obama mocked Trump. Now Trump is going to become the bigly QB for the Buccs!

In all seriousness, pretty decent swipe at Trump. I knew Tom Brady was a human.

    • Darla says:

      LMAO

    • Miranda says:

I love the mental image of Trump waddling around the field, with his tiny baby hands that can’t even grip the football properly, then limp-wristedly flicking the ball directly to the other team.

      • Giddy says:

I hope you don’t mind if I add to your description: Trump waddling around the field, “with his Depends sagging”, then limp-wristedly flicking the ball directly to the other team.”,

      • Miranda says:

You are definitely allowed to add to it, especially when your addition is so vicious!

    • Lucy2 says:

      Lol!

    • Escondista says:

I’m wondering if his wife had anything to do with his choices. I tend to think people from other countries have a clearer view of how rotten Trump is than many of my family members who were born here.

      • Natters says:

I 100% believe that Gisele showed him the light. He’ll do anything for her and he doesn’t want his Brazilian beauty denying him the sweet stuff. We women are way more powerful than we think we are.

    • Esmom says:

Lol, I just choked on my apple. On one hand this is great, but on the other hand I still struggle with making light of Trump as if he’s just a kooky guy and didn’t conspire to destroy everything in his path.

    • Wiglet Watcher says:

It doesn’t clean up Tom getting close to Trump, not speaking out against the MAGA hat in his locker or Giselle wearing full burka/niqab to hide her plastic surgery visit in France while they were discouraged/banned.

      This is nice though.

      • CC says:

Wiglet Watcher: He talked about the MAGA hat. He didn’t put the hat there. He doesn’t talk about politics. He didn’t want to endorse Trump.

  3. Merricat says:

I can’t stand Brady. However, anything that the former guy in charge finds humiliating is okay by me.

    • DuchessL says:

I can’t either: Maga Tom Brady & Gisele’s all natural frozen face irritate me so much, but this made me laugh and gives me hope.

    • manda says:

      co-sign all of this

    • MF1 says:

Me too. I can only imagine the big sad tears Trump cried when he heard that Tom Brady, The Manliest Man and Ultimate American Sports Dude, made fun of him.

    • Cary says:

Brady is just an opportunist with slight republican leanings which he manages to hide occasionally on the orders of his wife.

  4. Miranda says:

DAMNNNNN. That’s some beautiful catty bitchery right there!

  5. Darla says:

This really surprises me. I remember when Evans did that interview, the political avenger, in Hollywood Reporter. That’s when I first started really liking him ,since he seemed to get the torment of trump. And he actually sounded tormented over Brady being Maga. But he wasn’t Maga? Or he’s just an opportunist? Though, his not showing at trump’s WH and then going to Biden’s does speak volumes. That doesn’t seem phony. Interesting. I hope trump cried yesterday!

And hoped he’d marry Ivanka! Stop I am laughing too hard.

    • North of Boston says:

      “… he’s just an opportunist…”

      Ding ding ding!

Brady puts a finger in the wind and decides what to do or say publicly. He had complete autonomy over what was in his locker, visible, and he chose a Trump hat. And if that didn’t reflect his values, he had complete autonomy to say so, and he chose not to.

He’s been in a position of massive privilege, enormous wealth, and public standing for years … and has had more freedom to speak his mind and stand up for something than most people without worrying whether it would cost him his life or the roof over his head. And he chose to stick to his knitting.

An now that the Orange Menace is no longer in power he shows up and does a veiled swipe at him

He’s either a Trumpet who wanted to keep a low profile, a non Trumper who didn’t want to bother speaking out (since Trump’s policies didn’t harm rich white bros like him) but now is slyly popping out or someone who is so in his own bubble he just doesn’t care and rathole stick to his TB GOAT brand.

He’s an excellent football player. I’ll give him that.

      • Anners says:

This interpretation makes sense to me – he really gave off MAGA vibes earlier, but giant opportunist with no sincere feelings also rings true.

      • manda says:

he shat the bed a few times last season though. I can’t remember what he did. I had him on my fantasy team, which was kind of a tough choice because I do hate him but I wanted to do well in our season last year.

      • North of Boston says:

I have no idea why autocomplete thought “rathole” was a more likely choice than “rather” which is what I’d thought I’d written, but it kind of cracks me up. Lol

      • Aud says:

A lot of people didn’t take Trump seriously or realize just how awful he would be when Brady had the hat. I think he genuinely just saw it as supporting a friendly acquaintance.

      • BlueToile says:

I am with you North of Boston. I have zip respect for Brady or anyone else in a position of power and influence who did not come all out against Trump. The past 5 years were not a joke, and were not without serious consequences to our democracy. Suddenly Brady wants to be with and respected by decent people? He can go pack sand. 🤨

      • BothSidesNow says:

@ North of Boston, well said!! People who are privileged and have the opportunity to call out the actions of a mad man and seemingly refuse to take a stand, are just looking out for themselves as they are too privileged to see how harmful it has been to a majority of the US citizens. Brady was also one of the super wealthy whose wealth grew on the backs of the middle and lower income citizens. The wealth inequality in this country is abysmal and we should be ashamed that the 1% get away with taking advantage of the laws written to their advantages.

      • ElleE says:

“…complete autonomy…he chose a Trump hat…reflect his values…complete autonomy to say so…he chose not to”

Ummm..choices? Ya know, did you ever watch that Netflix thing-y on A.Hernandez? Any of the CTE docs on Junior S. and other ppl Tom knew and played with? There is literally a trail of dead bodies going back to the day he first jumped into play when Drew B. was injured and it just gets, so damn dark, right around the time he broke up with B. Moynihan, and he started with the perma-smile, Robo-Tom thing I am seeing here. I don’t even want to know what kind of choices a man has to make to survive in that organization, at that level, for decades.

He either turned into a legit robot or he has a painting in his attic of a 200-yr old man…I know someone who will never be writing a memoir! ha!

      • NN says:

North of Boston: He DIDN’T have complete autonomy over what was in his locker. He DIDN’T put the hat there. He already talked about it.
He doesn’t talk about politics. Celebs don’t have to talk about politics. You live in Boston… You are so bitter. Still crying because he left your team?

      • ElleE says:

@NN we respect each other on this site sweetie. I am sure that it are a peach IRL so either talk as of we are FTF or take it back to Barstool. Thanks for stopping by!

      • COCO says:

@ElleE You don’t respect anybody. Your comments don’t make sense and you look bitter. I hope you get the help you need.

  6. Becks1 says:

I think whatever Tom Brady may have thought about Trump personally, he saw the shitshow that was the trump presidency and he didn’t want to be anywhere near that. Maybe he liked everything Trump was doing, maybe he didnt, but he had some semblance of brand protection.

I read yesterday that this is Tom’s first visit to the WH in a really long time….like there were a few other trips to the WH under Obama I think that he skipped (or maybe it was Bush, I can’t remember, he’s won a lot of Super Bowls, even though the Giants did stop him for two). so I’m not sure that his skipping the WH with Trump was that big a message, but I do think its interesting he’s there now with Biden. Maybe he just wanted to support his new team?

    • Darla says:

“Maybe he liked everything Trump was doing, maybe he didnt, but he had some semblance of brand protection.”

Okay great point. That could be it, yep.

    • Lightpurple says:

There was way too much misinformation about that hat story from the start. Brady did not put a MAGA hat in his locker. Trump had a carton of the things sent to the team and the hats were placed in every single locker. Every player had one. While Brady was being interviewed, other players were taking the things out of the lockers and tossing them in a pile. The next day, they were all gone, including Brady’s. He was never seen wearing it. In 2002, after his first Super Bowl win, Bush invited him to the State of the Union speech. He went because it was an honor but Bush embarrassed him during the speech and he made a point after that he would not discuss politics or endorse any candidate. Something he repeated when friend John Kerry ran for President. He has worked with the Shriver family for decades now and is close friends with Anthony Shriver. And yes, Trump stated many times he wanted Ivanka to marry him but Brady made it clear he wasn’t interested in her.

      • Emily H says:

Thanks for the info. I had read the same story about the truth of the MAGA hats being delivered and put in every locker. All were discarded right after. However, people were determined to sh*t on Brady and try and make “the hat story” it into something it wasn’t. Haters gonna hate.

      • Green Desert says:

As always, thanks for the facts @Lightpurple! I’ve always disliked Brady but I never fully bought that he was MAGA. Just a privileged guy maybe uneducated and unprepared to talk about social and political issues. Lots of famous people were “friends” with Trump a while ago who distanced themselves once they saw the horror show he brought to this country.

    • MF1 says:

Tom Brady is a lot of things but he’s not stupid. He definitely made a point of distancing himself from 45.

  7. Courtney B says:

It was a pretty good joke. I’ll take it. I’m sure it did make Trump cry bigly tears. (Spellcheck changed bigly to bigot which is just hilarious and apropos. Lol)

  8. faithmobile says:

chef’s kiss! The schadenfreude of this moment is what I needed. Pretty sure the Buccaneers got a better meal than that horrid assortment of fast food hastily put together by the troll under the bridge. Biden should keep his glasses on, he looks dope with those aviators!

  9. girl_ninja says:

As a longtime Patriots fan I used to love Tom Brady, so the whole Trump relationship ended that. I’m still suspicious of Tom but anything that makes Trump cry his racist baby tear makes me happy.

  10. LadyE says:

I normally would avoid suggesting that the influence of an adjacent woman is responsible for the words/actions of a man because…yeah, problematic. But in this case, I actually think Giselle has A LOT to do with Tom’s change of attitude. She’s very outspoken on political issues and, if I recall correctly, publicly rebuked Tom during the Trump-era on several occasions. Brady has never struck me as a very deep person. Giselle seems much more grounded and in touch with global issues, such as the environment and immigration. I always imagined Tom was like, “babe, we play golf together!” and Giselle put her foot down on that nonsense.

    • Zoochy says:

Yeah I think you’re right. Gisele is known to be conscientious and a pretty decent person. Tom’s not that bright tbh.

  11. Case says:

This is hilarious. Well done. And I love how good-humored Biden is.

I can totally believe that perhaps Brady was friends/acquaintances with Trump but genuinely doesn’t care much about politics and didn’t really intend with his actions to endorse Trump as president. He’s privileged enough where he doesn’t have to care.

  12. Maria says:

This is funny I guess but I’m really just not that amused with so many people who endorsed/supported/waffled around the idea of Trump at the beginning walking it back now and pretending like it’s all good (this includes family members too). The whole thing is a Pandora’s box with further reaching implications of damage than just being able to say “oh just kidding, now I’m done with him!”
And it’s easy for him to joke about it now when his jokes aren’t going to change who the President is one way or another.
    Whatever.

    • Leah says:

I agree. The “I made a mistake supporting him” excuse doesn’t make up for four years of hell and a near collapse of the country. Oh and 1/6/21.

The “I didn’t know what kind of person he was” excuse just falls flat because he was exactly the same person he always has been when he was running for President. A boorish, racist, immigrant-phobic, disabled-phobic, homophobic, misogynistic liar and they ate it up. He took the worst sides of America and amplified it.

He told the coal miners that coal was coming back. So far it hasn’t.
His southern cis supporters thought that the south would rise again, it didn’t. They still think the states should separate from eachother (because omg that worked out so well before *eye roll*).
He gave them permission to bring a variant flag of the CSA into the Capitol building which was an absolute insult to the soldiers who gave their lives to keep it out of that building.
He insulted the troops and called them losers, you never insult those who give up their lives for the country.
He tapped into the worst America has to offer and gave a voice to their insanity.

We are never going to get those four years back. I will never forgive the voters who put that man into office, ever.

      • Maria says:

Yep. It’s not like we didn’t know how catastrophic he was in 2016. And now we have a politicized pandemic and a country full of crazies carrying on his legacy. So cute jokes now don’t do it for me.

      • Natasha says:

Leah – totally love your comment about not forgiving those who voted for him. Same here.
Warms my cold black heart. Tired of giving people passes for being dumb.

  13. AmyB says:

Tom Brady is undeniably one of the greatest athletes of our time, but yes – a bit of an arrogant asshole lol. However, I love him for this! Well done xoxo

What is even better, is knowing somewhere, Trump is having a baby temper tantrum over this!

This is a great start to the day!

  14. J ferber says:

I definitely think Giselle had input in his going. Good for her 🤣

  15. Digital Unicorn says:

Like Beckham he is easy on the eye but has a better speaking voice – no way he’d would have married someone like Vanky, she’s not in his league.

  16. Liz version 700 says:

That has to be the only time Brady has made me laugh. But I laughed hard. The former guy will probably release an official statement about it hahaha

  17. Busybody says:

Did Biden serve them a bunch of cold Big Macs on silver platters? Lol. Everything about the Trump White House was surreal and awful.

  18. carousel says:

as a lifelong bills fan, f*ck tom brady, but f*ck trump more. that was a good line and i can respect it

  19. Mandy says:

Tampa Tom is the best Tom!

  20. Leah says:

Brady forgets that the internet always remembers. I remember him being really chummy with TFG to a point where it would be trending on Twitter. As long as he made his coin like the other rich supporters he seemed happy to support him.

As for the team, they actually look happy to be there and I doubt that Biden served them cold hamburgers.

    • You Know Me says:

and was photographed with a MAGA red hat in his football locker. blah on Tom – he should eat some strawberries.

  21. Emily H says:

LOVE Tom Brady and always knew he didn’t support Trump. Knowing someone on a personal level and ratifying their anti-democracy, anti-human rights B.S. are two different things. I am SO HAPPY that this happened….love Biden and loved the speech and jokes! HA … hope the Trump tears are flowing. And Trump did, by many accounts, want Brady to marry the complicit Princess Ivanka. No way, no how!

  22. Ms. Lib says:

Your take on this story is THE BEST!!!

  23. Mina_Esq says:

They are also describing this as a spur of the moment visit. Biden was able to get 100+ players, coaches and staff on short notice, whilst Trump used to get rejections before the invites were even extended lol He loves this stuff. He wanted this pageantry. This hurts the former guy the most.

  24. Meg says:

And trump is suffering in silence with no social media access to respond to them publicly or get support from his maga crazies-love it lol

  25. Silent Star says:

My favorite part about this video is how genuinely happy the team looks to be there.

  26. SusanRagain says:

This is the first and only time I have ever found Tom Brady attractive.

  27. You Know Me says:

uh oh. All the Tom Brady man crushes just died.

  28. Rise & Shine says:

I actually kind of loved this! Yay, Tom on this one. It was shade alright from Tom, who Trump always just totally worships. Trumpies were MAGA hurt, haha. Fine. Good to see them there, all giving President Biden a jersey, all smiles, etc. Very cool. And like it even more that this happened after Ivanka and Jared just purchased their second of two very expensive homes (UGH) , properties right down the street from Tom and his family on Indian Island in FLA. So weird considering Trump tried to foist Ivanka on him and Tom said oh hell no to her (and he isn’t the only one). So double whammy, yay.

  29. Shannon says:

I’m here to tell you Tom Brady is a douchebag. He’s Elway 2.0, who was and is an asshole.

Brady and Elway are very smart, though. They always keep good company.
