Mariah Carey is launching an Irish cream liqueur line

Do you have any Mariah Carey fans in your life? Anyone so crazy for Mimi that they just want to drink in everything she has to offer? Well, you’re in luck this gift-giving season because the Diva Carey has just gifted us with the perfect Mimi solution! Mariah has spent the last two years brewing up a line of cream liqueurs all under her new label, Black Irish. There are three flavors currently available: Original Irish Cream, Salted Caramel and White Chocolate. Each bottle has a seal with her initials and signature butterfly. The name, Black Irish, is a tip of the hat to Mariah’s heritage, which is Black and Venezuelan on her father’s side and Irish on her mother’s.

Mariah Carey knows what it’s like to dominate the music industry, and now she’s ready to make her mark in the world of spirits.

On Monday night, the music icon, 52, announced her new line of cream liqueurs called Black Irish, which are available in Original Irish Cream, Salted Caramel, and White Chocolate varieties. Carey chose the name Black Irish as “a playful nod to her Black and Irish lineage,” according to the press release. Her father, Alfred Roy, was of Black and Venezuelan descent, and her mother, Patricia, has an Irish background.

“I have been putting my heart into this project for almost two years and I am so excited to finally share this news with you all,” Carey said in a release. “I wanted to create something that embodies the holidays and gives everyone a reason to celebrate year-round, and I really think we have done that with Black Irish.”

The “We Belong Together” singer also shared the announcement on social media, writing, “Truly a cause for celebration,” the brand’s nod to her hit song “It’s Like That” from her 2005 album The Emancipation of Mimi.

Carey’s fans may also notice the bottle design includes a cap and seal stamped with her “MC” initials and her signature butterfly. The line, crafted and produced in Ireland, retails for $29.99 for a 750ml bottle and $3.99 for a 50ml bottle, and is available now.

Clothing, fragrance and booze seems to be one of the three avenues available for celebrities. I wonder if they have to pick one or if there is some sort of brand Sorting Hat that assigns them their business venture. Whereas I never would have guessed Mariah would craft an Irish Cream, it works beautifully for her. It’s sweet, rich, velvety and she made it playful. And the name is equally fun and clever. Mariah thought this through and came up with the perfect product for her image.

I don’t drink a lot of sweet drinks, but Irish Creams are one of the few that I love. I’ll have one once in a blue moon, usually paired with the right desert so I’d try Mariah’s Original recipe. I might give the Salted Caramel a taste too because I am crafting a few cocktails in my head I could make with that (once a bartender, always a bartender). The People article reminded me that Mariah partnered with Virtual Dining Concepts last year to come out with Mariah’s Cookies. Seriously, you guys – think of that gift basket. Some Mariah Cookies, a bottle of Black Irish and a Mariah CD. Line the basket with a faux fur throw and you’ve made someone’s holiday wishes come true. All I want for Christmas…

Good for her building her brand, I guess. Whoever styled the marketing photo shoot did her wrong though! That flat lank hair does not do her justice.

I feel like these are on point for Mariah. I can see commercials featuring these along with “All I Want for Christmas” and the name works too.

I would try these. It sounds like the white chocolate could just be used in place of godiva, right? (favorite drink of the pandemic – peanut butter whiskey, heavy cream, godiva liquer. But be careful, lots of calories lol AND you cannot taste the alcohol, even though there’s a lot in it. One is my limit.)

Lol I also think this is weirdly on brand for her. And I would 100% try them. I enjoy me some Irish cream and those flavors sound amazing. I’m especially interested in the white chocolate though.

I love a Baileys at Christmas, so would be interested to try this.

However, to it sell it in the UK and Ireland they might need to change the name as there is already a Black Irish trademarked product which is a mix of whiskey and stout.

I love her “because science” mask!

also i prefer her hair curly to straight but thats just because im jealous of the curls! if i could get my hair to curl like that i would never want it straight.

    • SarahCS says:

That’s my comment too! Fantastic mask.

I also agree that curls are her thing and she looks fantastic with them, I’d have preferred that look in the pic.

I love Irish Cream, straight up or in coffee or hot chocolate, and the season is coming. Surely it won’t be more expensive than a bottle of Bailey’s

    • aang says:

I like it in hot chocolate or poured over ice cream. But I can’t put it in coffee. I drink coffee only once a day in the early morning. If I drink it after dinner I’ll never sleep. Do the alcohol and caffeine cancel one another?

      • Truthiness says:

They don’t cancel each other out, it is more like the Baileys takes the edge off of the coffee.

I never question what Mariah will do next, because it all makes sense to her, though random to others. She is a hoot and one reason I like her so much is she has no malice in her heart for anyone. She just demands red carpets and roses outside her dressing room and gets them. Period.
