Justin Bieber and his wife, Hailey Baldwin, attended the Met Gala on Monday. At first I was underwhelmed with Hailey’s look until Kaiser pointed out the tribute to the LBD, which made me appreciate it. Justin, on the other hand, was to die for. I loved his tux and I love the way he wore it. Together, they looked wonderful. Like Kaiser, I have warmed considerably to the couple since their 2018 nuptials. I’ve never had an issue with Hailey, but Justin got under my skin for quite some time. However, I’m coming around to Jailey. Which puts me at odds with the Jelena fandom, apparently. Fans who cannot get over the fact that Justin and Selena Gomez are no more have decided to harass the couple wherever they go. The latest field trip for the Jelena crowd was the Met Ball Red Carpet, where they began chanting “Selena” at Justin and Hailey as they posed for photos.
Selena Gomez wasn’t at Monday’s Met Gala, but fans of the “Ice Cream” singer were — and made their presence known by chanting her name at Justin Bieber and Hailey Baldwin as they walked the fête’s red carpet Monday night.
Bieber — who was in an on-again-off-again relationship with Gomez beginning in their teenage years that ended in early 2018 — and Baldwin appeared to ignore the chant in a video that went viral on YouTube.
The 27-year-old “Stay” singer wore a black suit by “la masion Drew,” a nod at his streetwear label Drew House, while his model wife, 24, wore a black gown with a plunging neckline by Saint Laurent for their first Met Gala as a married couple.
Gomez, 29, last attended the event in 2018; she also attended in 2017 with her then-boyfriend, The Weeknd.
This isn’t the first time the couple has had to deal with this nonsense. Back in December, a fan proposed that the Jelena crowd take over Hailey’s Instagram Live and “bombard that s–t with Jelena and how Selena is better.” Justin, to his credit, stuck up for both Hailey and Selena in the incident. What’s worse about Monday’s chant-attack is that it was the couple’s third wedding anniversary, so they were actually celebrating. If you watch this fan’s video, you can hear the chanting in the beginning. I’m skeptical that Justin or Hailey even heard them. Or they did and simply ignored The Rudes. It’s hard to make out exactly what else is being said, but those talking sound excited to see Justin, in a way that makes me think they are still fans of his. If so, how can they possibly think this would be a good idea? As I said, I’m starting to see some nice things in Justin, and I like Selena. But I do not think they were the best versions of themselves while together. And poor Hailey. She doesn’t deserve this. Fortunately, her cousin Ireland had her back on social media.
It might seem like Selena’s responsibility to ask her fans to stand down, but I don’t think it would work. She’s made it clear she’s done with Justin and moved on. If she entered the conversation, I’m sure the fans would find a way to twist it. What they should be shouting Only Murders in the Building because that’s where Selena’s shining! I am shocked how engaged I am with that sleepy little show. I’m pleasantly surprised how well Selena plays off Steve Martin and Martin Short. And it’s been picked up for a second season. Maybe in S2, the victim can wear a Jelena shirt. Selena can look at the body and say, “No, leave it. That sh*t needs to stay dead.”

I just think this is so gross. first off, they have been done for 3 years, and I don’t think either one of them is interested in that relationship anymore. secondly, it’s so rude and cruel for literally no reason. thirdly, only murders in the building is a great show! and also seems like that relationship was really unhealthy for both of them and involved a lot of drugs and cheating, mostly from Justin but also from Selena. I think they’re both better off.

Total jerks! You know, when I saw the red carpet coverage on E! , they showed Justin and Hailey posing and she looked upset, then he mouthed to her ‘I love you’. I wondered if they’d had a fight earlier, but now that you post this about the chanting .. well I am positive he was encouraging her because it was upsetting.
Justin isn’t a bad kid, he really isn’t. He did some stupid things, but they have all been pretty tame compared to any other pop stars. He’s just a small town Ontario kid who made it big. Got to take a toll on a person to be so insulated for so many teenage developing years, and also try to please every one .

So, I don’t understand why Selena fans would want Selena back together with Justin. Like, didn’t Selena make it pretty clear that he was emotionally abusive to her? Like, I did a quick google and I was really surprised to find out that they were on and off for eight years. So, I understand how fans got so attached to the pairing, but they both seem better off. Like, are these Selena fans or Justin fans that don’t like Hailey? Because I feel like Selena fans would have gotten the message that Justin and her were over for very good reasons. I feel like Hailey gets a lot of hate from some petty things she did years ago against Selena and how thirsty she can be. So, I’m wondering if this is more about Hailey than it is about Selena.
It’s a combo but I’ve run across them on twitter and the majority claim to be Selena stans. They trash Justin all the time but always want to insert him into stuff about her and troll Hailey all the time with “Selena is better” or “Justin loved Selena more” it’s weird tbh. A lot of them also similarly obsess over Selenas former friendship with Demi Lovato even though they haven’t been friends for years, rarely ever talk about each other, and when asked in interviews for the most try to keep it classy and brief.
I feel like it might be some younger, newer fans of hers who are rediscovering old drama because i dont get why her longtime fans wouldn’t want to just focus on her current life and work. Selena and Justin used to do a lot of petty dumb crap back in the day and seemed to only bring the worst out of each other but it’s been years and they both seem much better without each other so i don’t get the need to keep rehashing the mess.
First, none of the Selena fans I know are Jelena fans. He (rightly) disgusts them. So, this seems like those weird toxic fantasy standoms like Karlie/Taylor and who is it, Harry/Liam? Second, why does he stand that way in all the pics? There’s legs spread confidently, and then there’s I am a human cone.
For what I’ve seen about them, I don’t like them that much, i remember them talking trash about Selena, but this is really too much. Good god, move on people! They certainly did.
I must be watching a completely different show. I mean, the story is good. Steve Martin & Martin Short are delightful (although Short’s character’s backstory makes me sad), Sting is great, Tina Fey is killing it as the stereotypical podcaster, and I want to see more of Roy Wood Jr. & Jacob Ming-Trent as the plant podcasters, but Selena Gomez is sucking all the air out of every scene she plays. This is the first thing I’ve ever seen her in- is she always this bad? She speaks every line in such a monotone (which shouldn’t surprise me because that’s how she sings), and I can’t believe that’s the way the writers intended it to be even when she’s excited about seeing her tie dye friend again. I’m kinda hoping they kill her character off and move on without her.

She’s the worst part of the cast. Her delivery is so stilted, but she’s terribly cute so it balances out I guess. She is bringing in the younger demographic for the show though, as my twenty-something daughter put this on her watchlist because of Selena.
I’m a Selena fan thanks to my kids, and I’m baffled by how bad she is. I keep thinking back to Wizards and maybe her delivery was always like that? Kind of flat and aiming for sarcasm? Anyway, I’m enjoying the show and she, that coat and NY in the late fall/early winter is a joy to see. Last night’s episode made us all scream for more since it ended so abruptly.

I gotta disagree. I think she balances out the two well-and she does play a woman who literally had two very close friends die violently and is very “mysterious”-so she gives off a sad/dry vibe. It could also be because Selena was struggling with depressive episodes as compared to her time on Disney, but I enjoyed her performance overall. There are some lines badly delivered though (the sarcastic comments), but I think she did really well for the more dramatic scenes.
She shows a wee bit more emotional range in the silly yet fun little movie “Monte Carlo” but yes, she can be a bit monotone.
Hailey and Justin are a gorgeous couple and seem happy together.
I’m a huge Selena fan and she wants nothing to do with him. She’s said in interviews that she was emotionally abused. She’s done intense therapy to work on her self worth and what happened. It discounts her experience, growth and healing to try to put them together again. These fans are immature.
I can see Justin had grown as well and may be a good partner to Hailey.
That’s lame and horrible for everyone involved. I don’t feel particularly warm toward Justin and Hailey as humans but they seem happy. And Selena has made it clear she had bad experiences with Justin — she shouldn’t have to ask fans to stop talking about it.
I really can’t stand these two so I can’t be bothered to feel sorry for them but yikes, that’s so cringe for poor Selena. Don’t these fans realize their actions make their fave look bad too, how old are these ppl ffs?
I’m waiting for the complete season of Only Murders in the Building to be out so I can binge watch it.

I think Selena Gomez is knocking it out of the park in Only Murders. I’m so shocked she can actually act. I feel like I owe her longtime fans an apology. Sorry!!! I didn’t know she was talented, okay???!!! She’s doing such good work in that part that I think if she’d been some nobody actress off the street who turned up to audition for that role, she would have won it. She’s completely right for it. (Ofc I know that she probably had to sign on before HBO would even greenlight this series, but my point stands.)

I cannot bring myself to care about the Selena chants, yes – it is silly.
However, just here to say that Justin looks absolutely ridiculous….the too wide leg pants, the shoes…ugh. Why does he always look so horrible? Besides the pants being so ugly (like 90s skater rat) they make a short person look even shorter. He looks so much better with a slim cut tuxedo on. Dress for your body type and you will always look fabulous.
Hailey is beautiful and looks very nice here. It is a boring choice, but I do get its relation to the theme if it is an ode to the LBD. Thank GOODNESS she and Gigi didn’t show up naked, like some other younger celeb spawn which shall not be named.
This is the most pathetic thing I’ve heard in a long time. Can you imagine having so little going on in your life that you would show up and chant just to harass someone? They make Selena look so bad. When weirdo fans act like this, it kind of makes it look like she STILL hasn’t moved on, whether she has or not. No other celebs that I know of have fans stalking their exes. It must be embarrassing for her. Justin has clearly moved on, and seems to be doing so much better now that he’s with Hailey. It looks like they’re better off apart. I was expecting more from Selena’s performance in her new show, but like a lot of others said, she’s the weakest link in the cast. On a superficial note, she looks healthier lately, and Hailey looks beautiful as well. I loved her Met Gala look. She and Justin both looked lovely and appeared unbothered by the Jelena mob, so that’s nice. I hope they continue to rise above it. He’s had a rough go and deserves happiness.

This is so sad. I mean Justin was a pill for years. I was worried about his future as he went off the rails. By some miracle He is actually growing up and has really calmed down and his wife seems to have done nothing but help that process. To have to deal with people who want him to go backwards is so absurd. It is like cheering for drugs and stupidity to win.
