Elizabeth Olsen in The Row at the Emmys: stylish or just a sack dress?

I knew that Mare of Easttown, Ted Lasso and The Crown would have a big night at the Emmys, but what I wasn’t expecting was for WandaVision to win absolutely nothing. WandaVision was one of Disney Plus’s biggest hits since its launch. Spoilers filled social media, people were sharing theories as the episodes came out, and Marvel and Disney Plus spent a lot of money putting that show together. And… nothing. No Emmys for Elizabeth Olsen, or Paul Bettany or Kathryn Hahn. No awards for the show. I mean, I get why it was snubbed: Emmy voters prefer dry British costume dramas, in general. But still, it was a major show.

Anyway, Elizabeth Olsen was all dressed up and had no speeches to give. She wore The Row, a custom dress designed by her big sisters, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen. From the back, I thought this was pure sack dress, but no – it has some shape and some actual design. I love the cream color, I love her statement chandelier earrings and I like her bob. All said, an A-plus look for the Emmys. Her husband, Robbie Arnett, was her date. They got married at some point and she only revealed it a few months ago.

Toss some gaudy flowers on that thing and she’d be Mrs. Roper.
I love Elizabeth Olsen, but this dress isn’t doing it for me.

I think Emmy voters need some time to adjust to Marvel and Disney. Netflix shows initially struggled too, if memory serves. As for Elizabeth, I think she looks beautiful. That color and fabric are divine, and the pandemic has given me an appreciation for sac dresses.

I think you’re exactly right. TV has changed and they’re still adjusting. I really wish Kathryn Hahn had won ☹️

Dress is OK. A bit matronly but not awful.

I’m not even into Marvel but loved WandaVision. She was so good it. The whole cast was great. I love the dress but it is very low key for Emmys.

I hope she’s in the early stages of pregnancy and doesn’t want to tell people yet and that’s why she chose that dress. It’s a nice hide-the-growing-belleh dress.

  4. Sofia says:

I quite like this actually. As for her not winning, not surprised. It was tough competition in her category.

  5. FHMom says:

It’s a caftan. It’s just okay. It could use some beading maybe? Wanda vision was ground breaking television and I was sad that Katheryn Hahn didn’t win. She was sooo good in it

    • BothSidesNow says:

It is just ok. It’s saved due to the beautiful shape of the design, since it’s slightly brought in at her arms/chest area and the back looks lovely. But I can’t get behind this dress, it’s too matronly for her and it’s just so big on her frame.

  6. Kcat says:

I love it. The fabric is beautiful, and it has shape and flow. I would wear it in a heartbeat.

  7. Jack says:

    Choir robe

  8. Case says:

I wish WandaVision had won something. All their nominees turned in great performances and it was 100% the strongest of the Marvel shows for me. Oh well. It was tough competition.

I liked her dress and thought it was cute she wore Mary Kate and Ashley’s clothing line.

  9. Merricat says:

I guess she felt like she couldn’t turn down her sisters’ design. It’s not the worst, but she’s young, and this looks like a dress for someone much older.
Kathryn Hahn was a terrific sport. I wish she’d won.

  10. lucy2 says:

    I kind of like it?

  11. Chlo says:

I love love love this dress.

  12. Veronica S. says:

It’s very much an Olsen outfit, but it flatters her well enough while still looking comfortable, which is not something I feel you can say for a lot of designer dresses. I do like the way the shaping of the front flows into the into the back without disrupting the smooth line of the draping. That takes more skill than you’d first assume at first glance. Charming, to some extent, that she’d support her sisters that way, too.

  13. Kaye says:

    Pregnant & she looks radiant.

  14. Jenn says:

This dress IS a pregnancy announcement, right?

  15. candy says:

    Holy nose job.

  16. Reece says:

I like it. Don’t ask me why.

  17. Vivica says:

as a gal that has gained the covid 19 and then some, I would love it for myself in black. 🤣
