Did the Schitt’s Creek crew really have a malfunctioning teleprompter?

One of the best presentations last night, apart from Jennifer Coolidge, was by the Schitt’s Creek cast, when they maybe had a malfunctioning teleprompter when presenting Writing for a Comedy Series. They seemed genuinely confused. It was a hard to tell at first, which is a testament to how fabulously they play off of each other. When they got to the part where Eugene Levy said that he told the writers to lift the dialogue you could tell it was a bit. They had me for a long time though!

Catherine O’Hara was in a striking draped red Cong Tri one shoulder pantsuit with a long train. I love seeing pants with a train!. She was wearing so much black and white for her character and it’s nice to see her in another color.

Annie Murphy and Dan Levy were both in Valentino. Annie’s dress is kind of blah and looks too loose but she looks comfortable! I tried to watch her show Kevin Can Go F Himself but it was too dark for me. I only got a couple of episodes in. Hecate is our resident Schitt’s Creek fan! I know so many people who have watched it and loved it but I haven’t gotten into it yet.

How dapper does Dan look? (I did that on purpose)

Seeing the Schitt’s Creek cast together again was genuinely the highlight of the night for me. When people started to stand to applaud them I got a bit weepy. Special people from a special show.

And yes, I think the teleprompter thing was just a (very well executed) bit.

Love the color of Annie’s Valentino but it looks like a little girl playing dress up in her moms clothes -‘3 sizes too big.

    • Aphra says:

I think it looks really cool oversized like that!

    • (TheOG) Jan90067 says:

If the sleeves weren’t so damned long, even the oversized top wouldn’t look bad. It’s the combo, imo.

Catherine looks FABULOUS!!!! I LOVE this outfit! Color, cut, fit, execution/styling… all perfection!

      Eugene Levy, stylish, gorgeous man.

Dan Levy… you went ONE LAYER too many man. The wrap jacket would’ve been good w/out that apron look layer.

  3. Aphra says:

INCREDIBLE fashion! Catherine O’Hara looks perfection!!!! As do the other two — a rainbow of Canadian gorgeousness.

Watch Schitt’s Creek! It’s honestly the most uplifting series I have ever watched without am having to sacrifice grey matter in the process.

I want to be Moira (O’Hara) in 20 years.

It started a bit slow in the first 2-3 episodes plot-wise, but the casting was perfection and I quickly grew to love all the characters ( except Chris Elliot’s- he’s perpetually OTT).

      • yvrjanice says:

Agreed – if you can get past him in the first couple of episodes, the show becomes much more enjoyable.

The color of Annie’s dress is great, but the loose, floppy dress combined with the loose, floppy hair is too much for me. That gown with a sleek hairdo would have been fantastic. That hairdo with a streamlined jumpsuit would have been aces.

I like Annie’s look. That’s the confidence of someone so gorgeous and cool she doesn’t need to display the goods.

I thought it was just my husband and I who couldn’t get thru Kevin Can F Himself! We really wanted to like and watch some dark shows, but this one didn’t do it for us.

I love how the cast all wore different colours, it makes such lovely photos!

    • Jenn says:

My husband and I watched the first season as it aired. I did like it, but it starts off pretty bleak and then becomes increasingly implausible. If you interpret it as a pitch-black comedy it’s great, but silly.

    • HeyJude says:

I get the paradigm and it seems very important as a statement to the industry, but I hate how they don’t showcase Annie’s outrageously funny side.

This show boxes her in a lot, when she’s at her most amazing being a very big and booming character.

  8. Coco says:

I love all the color from the Schitt’s Creek cast, but the fit on Dan and Annie was really bad.

  9. Krystina says:

Someone once said that Dan Levy is the anime version of his dad, and now I can’t unsee it, lol!
Jokes aside, I loved that show so much. It got me through some dark moments, and made me laugh when I didn’t want to.

    • Christine says:

Same. Schitt’s Creek and Parks and Rec are largely responsible for lifting me out of depression, in their respective eras. I still turn to specific episodes of each when I’m feeling especially moody.

  10. sally says:

Who allowed Eugene Levy to be this sexy? The awkward dad from American Pie shouldn’t get me all hot and bothered!

  11. Jenn says:

Ahahahaha, very clever: “Don’t anger your writers, without them you won’t have a show!” Ugh, this category was seriously stacked. I’m sad for Flight Attendant and Pen15, which both were/are such great contenders.

  12. lucy2 says:

    I love Catherine’s look!
Definitely watch Schitt’s Creek. I was so so on it for the first season or 2, and then by the time I finished it, I immediately watched it again. There’s also a special behind the scenes doc that Netflix had, and it will make you ugly cry, it’s so heartfelt and loving.

    • Jenn says:

I so agree, lucy2. I had trouble getting into the first season (like a lot of people, I had to start over a few times), but I was all-in by the second season. To enjoy it I think you have to find David *endearing*, but SHOCKINGLY some people never find the character relatable!!! Hmph.

    • NotSoSocialButterfly says:

Catherine’s character was nearly sublime, but everyone on the show was so so so good (except again, I’ve never been a Chris Elliot fan- he’s the same character over and over).
