Princess Beatrice’s baby girl has hair with ‘a hint of red… and a hint of gold’

Royal Wedding Alert! Princess Beatrice is engaged to property tycoon Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi **FILE PHOTOS**

You know what I wonder? I wonder if the British rags will try to claim that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s Time cover preemptively stole Princess Beatrice’s baby thunder. The rags claimed something similar when Eugenie gave birth in February. The truth is, it’s more like Beatrice’s baby was a welcome change of subject given the mountain of bad press Prince Charles and Prince Andrew have been receiving in recent months. So will Beatrice – like Eugenie – wait the better part of eleven days to announce her baby girl’s name? I hope not.

We are learning a bit more about the birth of Baby Girl Mozzi and all of that. Beatrice gave birth at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital in London. No word on whether she delivered at the hospital’s private Kensington maternity wing, but I would guess she did. Baby Girl Mozzi weighed 6 pounds, 2 ounces. She was born at 11:42 pm on Saturday, and Edo and Beatrice were given the space to recover at the hospital and return home with their baby before any announcements were made. The British press has not freaked out about the delay in announcement whatsoever. The Daily Mail says that Bea and Edo “returned to the St James’s Palace apartment,” which is still her London address.

Baby Girl Mozzi is 11th in the line of succession. As of this morning, the digital succession line on Royal.gov has not been updated, but that’s not surprising. They’ll wait until the name is announced. And Baby Girl Mozzi will be added to the succession list sooner than Lilibet Diana was – Lilibet was over seven weeks old before they added her to the digital list. Little Miss Mozzi will not have a British title, although she’ll probably have some obscure Italian title, because Edo is some kind of Italian nobility.

There was some confusion yesterday about whether Prince Andrew flew back to London to meet his first granddaughter. Some said he had left Balmoral, but Rebecca English reports in the Daily Mail that Andrew is still hiding out in his mother’s Scottish estate. Andrew reportedly has no plans to travel out of Scotland any time soon, on advice from his legal team? Sarah Ferguson was in Balmoral with Andrew, but she traveled to London on Friday, and she’s already met her granddaughter. A friend told the Mail: “She’s perfect and Sarah is absolutely smitten. She’s always very proud of both girls but to have two grandchildren in a year is a total joy.” Baby Girl Mozzi is also described as having hair with “a hint of red… and a hint of gold.” Aw, that would be so cute if Beatrice had a little ginger baby girl.

I’m sure the baby is really cute, its a baby, lol. “hint of red, hint of gold” just sounds like something out of a Disney movie, haha. “look for the baby with hair with a hint of red and a hint of gold and then you will have found the princess.”

    • Coco says:

Agreed. Will twelve good fairies come to her christening and bless her with all the virtues? Watch out, York’s, that angry thirteenth fairy you didn’t invite might curse the child to prick her finger on her birthday to transform into a process server!

    • Dee says:

I bet they won’t name her Ella, though.

      • notasugarhere says:

They might. Isabella being one of the Italian options for Elizabeth. There’s already an Ella close by, though, as Lady Gabriella Windsor goes by Ella.

      • Dee says:

Ella Mozzi. Mozzi, Ella. I can see kids nicknaming her Mozzarella. When we were naming our kids, we tried every combination of initials and nicknames to avoid what we could.

      • notasugarhere says:

They might not think that far ahead, or they’d put Isabella as a middle name.

    • Lucy says:

I was thinking they should just call it ruby colored with a touch of gold, lol. Easiest way to say, she’s really rich y’all.

    • Daphne says:

On the other end of the spectrum, it immediately reminded me of the Rains of Castamere from Game of Thrones. I’m going to have The National version of the song stuck in my head for the rest of the day.

    • ClaireB says:

All the racism surrounding H&M and their kids has made me suspicious. I feel like saying the baby’s hair was reddish-gold is a way of assuring us that this kid is 100% white.

  2. BayTampaBay says:

I have always thought that Beatrice looks like her father but with her mother’s coloring.

I am sure there little girl is just stunning.

  3. Royalwatcher says:

So…no freakout from the RRs/British media that she didn’t share the birth news immediately and hasn’t yet presented the baby to them? No demands to see the baby because “we own her!” Got it. Aren’t they living in tax-payer-funded housing and get money from pedo-dad who gets tax-payer money? Once again the double standard is clear for all to see. It can never be said enough – the RRs and BM are racist, lying, bullying, cruel pieces of $hit. I hope they all go bankrupt and end up living in the gutter, where they belong.

Oh, congrats to Bea and her hubby. I hope the baby is healthy and happy.

  4. Hell Nah! says:

Yay baby and congrats to the new parents!

I understand Prince Harry and his cousin Eugenie get on very well but does anyone know what Harry’s relationship with Beatrice is like?

Eugenie (and her husband) seem super sweet and they seem definitively (if somewhat low-key) supportive of Harry and Meghan but Beatrice…she has always come off to me like a nose-in-the-air, stuck-up snot. Entitled to the max with an I’m better than you attitude. Am I crazy for thinking that’s how she presents? I really hope becoming a mother doesn’t push her nose any higher in the air married to a Italian noble-type and all. Ha!

I guess I’m saying I’ve already got feelings about her — and they ain’t good.

    • Over it says:

Not like I know these people at all but I am in agreement with you. I think Eugine is sweet but Bea seems to me to be as stuck up as her father. I too am not a fan of hers and I absolutely forgot she was pregnant.

      • (TheOG) Jan90067 says:

Bea was caught on cam (like a lot of the rest of the family) making *really* awful faces at H&M’s wedding, esp. during Rev. Curry’s sermon.

Harry’s always seemed closer to Euge (as she called herself in her SM note to her sister) to me.

      • NotSoSocialButterfly says:

        @OG Jan-
I remember that so well. She was atrocious and embarrassing at the ceremony.

    • Becks1 says:

I think part of it with Bea is that she is a few years older than Eugenie and I think figured she would be a working royal for longer than Eugenie. So I can’t remember the exact timing, but let’s say that Beatrice was 20 when she learned she would not be a FT royal and Eugenie was 17, by that point B is already in college, making choices on the idea of being a FT royal, and probably was raised to think of herself as superior because she’s oldest blood princess out of the grandchildren, etc.

I think Eugenie was able to pivot to being a professional and has never really seemed bitter over not being a working royal, but I get a different vibe from Bea.

Of course I have obviously never met them so who knows, maybe both are total snobs in real life, maybe both are completely lovely.

      • Lady D says:

I thought Zara was older than the York women? Oh right, forgot she’s not a pureblood.

      • (TheOG) Jan90067 says:

Lady D, Zara and her brother Peter are just as “pure blood” as E & B: both have ONE royal parent (Anne & Andrew) and one “commoner” parent (Sarah & Mark Phillips). Anne just didn’t give her kids a courtesy title, and wanted them to grow up out of the public eye (even though her kids benefit out of HER portion of the SG and live on HER secure property, get the perks from all that Anne has, as well as the connections to royalty (“Chinese Milk” commercial anyone?)), and Andrew’s obsessed with his kids being ON THE TEAT and grabbing those “royal” perks on their OWN, and being bowed and scraped to.

      • notasugarhere says:

Anne couldn’t give them titles, as titles do not pass through the female line. Her ex-husband would have to be offered (and accept) a title for their kids to have titles. Margaret’s husband accepted a title, Earl Snowdon, so their kids were Viscount Linley and Lady Sarah.

Becks1, that’s how I see it. They were raised thinking they’d be working royals. Charles pulled the plug on that in their late teens, and they’ve floundered as a result. Eugenie doesn’t care, Beatrice does.

      • The Recluse says:

Beatrice seems to take after both of her parents, the entitlement and the self aggrandizement without the real work ethic.

    • Sofia says:

That’s the vibe I get too. I’ve never met either of them either or know anybody who has but again, it’s the vibe I get. I remember a poster here saying someone they knew met Eugenie and said she was really nice but not that smart. But they emphasised how nice she was.

  5. Amy Bee says:

I saw a clip from British TV where a British journalist was praising Beatrice for how she announced the birth of her daughter and was criticising Harry and Meghan for the way they did theirs. It made me realise two things. That with Archie’s birth, Harry not telling the Comms Secretary that Meghan was in labour was his way of taking some control of the situation and protecting Meghan. And that the anger from the Palace and press after Lili’s birth was not only due to her name but really because Harry didn’t tell the Palace of her birth before announcing it and he did not let the Palace announce it either.

I think the story about a hint of gold hair is made up. I still remember the press saying that Archie had lots of hair only for him to turn up in South Africa with no hair.

  6. TheOriginalMia says:

I bet Sarah couldn’t leave Balmoral fast enough to get to that newest grandbaby. Happy for Bea & Edo & Wolfie.

  7. notasugarhere says:

iirc Edo’s family ‘title’ is courtesy only, it is not a real/legal title in either Italy or the UK.

    • Katwithak says:

Italy legally did away with nobility when they became a Republic after WWII. Most of the Italian former aristocracy including the Mapelli Mozzis (and Jessica Chastain’s inlaws) still go by their titles though. I think their daughter will go by “nobile donna” which is like being Lady _____ in the UK. I wonder if the BRF will recognize that since technically Edo’s not a Count in a legal/political sense. But iirc the BRF refers to Phillip’s Greek relatives by titles that don’t legally exist anymore (Princess Marie-Chantal et al.)

      • Sofia says:

Considering they call Edo using the Mr prefix, I imagine their daughter will have Miss in front of her name.

      • notasugarhere says:

They were only granted the title in 1913, so it isn’t one of long standing. His title is just as fake/courtesy as the sad Habsburg ones they keep pretending are real.
