Gisele Bundchen defended Doutzen Kroes’ deadly ignorance on vaccines

2019 Hollywood For Science Gala

Over the weekend, I covered Doutzen Kroes’ awful Instagram post, where she not only announced that she was unvaccinated, she also wrote about how vaccinations are apparently a freedom of speech issue (they are not). She claimed her “hands were shaking” from her own overinflated martyr complex and: “I will not be forced to take the shot. I will not be forced to prove my health to participate in society. I will not accept exclusion of people based on their medical status.” I regret to inform everyone that my ex-favorite model is a piece of sh-t.

What was doubly disappointing about Doutzen’s awful IG was that all of her famous model friends were “liking” her post and giving her warmth, encouragement and positivity. Only a handful of commenters were like “this ain’t it, sis.” Gisele Bundchen was one of the people defending Doutzen’s trash take on vaccines, writing:

‘I know Doutzen, and she is a kind and loving person. I can’t believe the hate being directed at her because she expressed her feelings. It saddens me to see all the judgment and the lack of empathy in so many peoples hearts. Hate is not [the] answer. The only way we can create a better world is through compassion and acceptance. I invite you to silence your mind and go deep within to find love in your heart so we can all unite in peace and create harmony in our lives and in our world. We need it more than ever.’

[Via The Daily Mail]

Yeah, no. Doutzen chose to make her unvaccinated stance public. Doutzen chose to equate “being ignorant on a deadly virus” with a freedom of speech issue. The way this should have gone was that Doutzen’s friends should have called her and spoken to her directly and told her how f–king wrong she is and how stupid she is. This shouldn’t have become a fight in Doutzen’s comments.

As for Gisele… we actually don’t know if she’s vaccinated. Tom Brady is – he got Covid in February, after the Super Bowl, when he was wandering around Florida, partying maskless. Apparently, the Tampa Bay Bucs are 100% vaccinated, they had to do that to compete this season. I wonder if Gisele is vaxxed? She has been suspiciously quiet about it.

The woman won’t even eat purple vegetables. I doubt she would take the vaccine. Giselle is trash.

    • Kaykay says:

What? Where did you read that? Purple food is super healthy so it rings weird in my ears. I tried to google it but couldn’t find anything about it. The only thing I found was that Gisele and Tom partnered with a company called purple carrot, making meal kits.

Edit: I checked again and the only thing I found was that they don’t eat nightshade vegetables because of their lectins.

      Extract from a Harvard study:
Lectins are defined as proteins that bind to carbohydrates. The same features that lectins use to defend plants in nature may cause problems during human digestion. They resist being broken down in the gut and are stable in acidic environments, features that protect lectin-containing plants in nature.

    • Andrew’s Nemesis says:

They’re acting from the premise that ‘my ignorance is as good as your knowledge’ and ‘feelings are as important as facts’. Neither is true. Gisele – cancelled. Let all these airheads disappear up their own fundaments.

      • Anners says:

‘Silence your minds’ is rarely a helpful instruction, especially when critical thinking is required.

They’re not doing a lot to dispel the persistent belief that models are pretty but dumb, are they?!

      • YahNo says:

        “Silence your minds”???
        Proves the following:
Q has infiltrated the wellness/yoga community by creating “toxin” paranoia around the vaccine. It’s called pastel Q – featuring Nature & supplement memes etc

Some feel to beautiful & special for the vax.
Yet I spy lots o weird Botox or whateves on most of their face n bod.

      • Rosebud says:

You put it perfectly. There is a code of conduct that medical professionals and researchers have to follow, but I wish they would tell these people off. They need to say, “No, your ignorance is not equal to my knowledge. And no it’s not rude or arrogant of me and other medical pros to say that to you. What’s rude and arrogant is you, person who took bio for the last time in the 11th grade and got a C-, speaking on topics you have no knowledge of. Please hush. Thank you!”

    • Zapp Brannigan says:

“I WILL not inject vaccines I don’t know anything about into my body, now pass me my Botox” – fools everywhere.

      • Shanaynay says:

        LMAO!!!

      • Erin says:

Or breast implants, which 90% of the women in my family and In laws family have and none of them will get the vaccine. The one with the most filler who is unrecognizable at this point still doesn’t believe in covid.

      • sassafras says:

I have pissed off so many anti-vaxx Karens by asking them about the LITERAL TOXIN they put in their FACE. The mental gymnastics they have to do pulls all their brain muscles.

  2. rawiya says:

I bet she isn’t vaxxed, and I bet her hubby isn’t either. An NFL agent recently came out saying 10-15% of players have fake vaccination cards.

    • Wiglet Watcher says:

I’ve heard this too and that the number could be higher.

    • girl_ninja says:

Tom IS in fact vaccinated. The entire Tampa Bay Bucs team is 100% vaccinated.

    • Eurydice says:

No, Bruce Ariens is pretty fierce and Tom Brady isn’t stupid. He wants to play football and if a vaccine is what it takes, that’s what he’s going to do.

    • L4frimaire says:

Tom Brady is such a valuable asset I doubt they’d let him go unvaxxed, especially with him being one of the oldest players in the field.

    • Shanaynay says:

After the whole Tom Brady deflated football scandal, I don’t believe a single word that comes out of his mouth. he’s nothing back a snake…..sssssss

      • NN says:

You know nothing about that Deflategate scandal. Goddell never proved his guilty. You should not believe a single word that comes out of Goddells mouth.

    • (TheOG) Jan90067 says:

If either’s children come down with Covid, you can bet they will sing a different aria.

How anyone can say they love their kids, and KNOWINGLY REFUSE to protect them from a deadly disease, one known to leave lingering side effects that we *still* don’t know the longevity of… it just boggles my mind.

While I don’t have kids, I do have two nephews that I couldn’t love any more if I had given birth to them, and I would do any and everything, including lay down my life to keep them safe and healthy.

    • Duch says:

What? You’re saying Tom Brady might cheat?! Nooooooo (eye roll)

  3. TheOriginalMia says:

She probably is. Tom Terrific isn’t going to let COVID deprive him of another ring. That means his bubble is probably vaxxed. As for defending Doutzen, she should have stayed quiet if she wasn’t going to admonish her.

  4. OriginalLala says:

We *really* need to stop putting any weight into what celebs say – these aren’t people who are known or celebrated for their intelligence or critical thinking skills, and yet we’ve put them on such pedestals….

  5. Betsy says:

Gisele’s face looks so different from how it used to.

And her gross stance on defending Doutzen’s antisocial mess is pretty on brand for Gisele.

    • Kaykay says:

She used to have heavy eyelids without a crease, just like Renee Zellweger. But in those pictures they look different, for sure. Maybe it’s fat loss with age. Maybe it’s surgery.

I feel like her stance was pretty neutral och positive, just spreading the word of love instead of hate and fear. I am pro-vax but I don’t go hating on all the anti-vaxxers just because I don’t agree with them. Do I think they are wrong and ignorant? For sure I do! Do I sometimes wish that if they decline the shot, they should also be decline health care when they get sick? Absolutely!

But I also think they are victims of fear mongering, and people acting out of fear are not rational, and I won’t change anyones mind by hating on them, giving them $h!t. That will just divide the groups even more.

      • Maria says:

The groups are already divided because people who are anti-vax are the ones ripping off peoples’ masks at worst and at best still blatantly demonstrating they don’t care about the health of others, and when politely confronted they are the first to scream about intolerance and prejudice and injustice. Gisele’s message shows that she is unapologetically ignorant because the anti-vaxxers are turning this into a violent discussion and pointing fingers at the rest. It’s like Fox News commenters decrying others for lack of open-mindedness, pure hypocrisy. I’m sick of it.

      • NCWoman says:

The problem is that when people with a platform go publicly anti-vaxx, they are feeding into a right wing anti-vaxx media machine, creating a wall of “justifications” for not vaccinating that supports misinformation. We can’t stop Fox and the other “media,” and if we don’t create a culture of shame about being anti-vaxx, we’re going to be fighting off increasingly dangerous variants for decades if not forever. The only way to get ahead of this is vaccination plus PPE plus distancing. That requires both education and shaming given what we’re up against.

  6. equality says:

Someone should explain to her the difference in being “excluded” for a medical condition and being asked to quarantine to avoid giving someone else an infectious disease. Would “empathy” not include trying to avoid making others sick by your actions?

  7. Matthew says:

If I had to bet on it I’d say Gisele is definitely not vaccinated.

    • Eve says:

      @Matthew:

You’d lose. Bitch very likely (as in 99.9999999%) is.

In Brazil, aside from the asinine Bolsonaro blind followers and televangelists, people believe in science and vaccines.

      • Maria says:

Nah, it’s a fair assumption, Gisele is not all Brazilians and her comment reminds me of the (badly) closeted Trump supporters on Twitter around the election saying “No matter who wins we all need to love each other”. Her husband may be, but I wouldn’t be surprised at all if he just did so as a matter of form for football and didn’t care at all about it and didn’t ask her to.

      • Eve says:

        @Maria:

Believe me, I still live in this sh*thole of a country where Bundchen has been raised and educated (more like “doctrinated” considered where she specifically comes from).

She’s vaxxed. She’s just defending her kind here.

      • Char says:

@Eve fellow Brazilian here and totally agreeing with you. Gisele and her kids ARE vaccinated, no doubt. In Brazil this whole antivax agenda is fairly new, mostly thanks to USA influence. In here we get ALL our vaccines for free, people are lining up for Covid vaccination and the unpopularity of Bolsonaro is rising due to his antivax campaing.

Gisele was dumb AF to defend someone who is clearly dumb AF.

      • Maria says:

I hope the backlash makes her admit it then, lol.

  8. Becks1 says:

I’m sure she’s vaccinated. Tom Brady is dumb but he’s not that dumb, you know? He’s going to make sure his bubble is safe. I’m sure there was likewise a ton of pressure on the players on the Bucs who weren’t getting vaccinated to get the shot so something that is now at this point relatively preventable (like COVID) doesn’t get in the way of another ring.

(and yes I know that people who are fully vaxxed can still get COVID, but their symptoms are usually significantly milder and your chance of getting infected is significantly lower.)

As for what Giselle actually said – what a bunch of nonsense words. It reminds me of when I would try to write a paper in HS and I hadn’t read the book so I just strung together some fancy phrases.

  9. Jan says:

If her name wasn’t attach to the photo, I would not have recognized Gisele.

  10. Maria says:

Nothing irritates me more than the dialogue that the people who have gotten this vaccine, stayed home, masked up, and are imploring others to do the same for public welfare are the nasty and hateful ones.
It’s always “me me me” with anti-vaxxers. Not even the fact they potentially endanger their kids moves them.

    • KIA says:

But they ARE are the nasty and hateful ones. You are angry because it’s TRUE. Look at these offensive comments. Doutzen is not insulting anybody.

  11. josephine says:

These anti-vaxxers really think they’re martyrs. I don’t see bravery, I see deep-seated selfishness. I don’t see freedom, I see willful ignorance. But mostly I see arrogance and privilege. We are at war and so many think that they simply do not need to contribute in any way, that they have a right to abstain from decency, from humanity, from community. Yet they are costing us billions in medical care as they have no hesitation to suck up medical care.

  12. Lucy2 says:

Yeah, no, Gisele. A kind and loving person would think about others, and get vaccinated.

  13. Amy T says:

She and her pal Doutzen can come to the funeral I’m attending on Saturday for the friend who refused to get vaccinated, got Covid and died alone in his house sometime between Tuesday (when he told the person who dropped orange juice and soup at his door that he felt awful and to just leave it) and Friday when, after not answering his phone or door, family members with a key went in and found him.

F%$k these people with their platforms for helping to spread death.

  14. Robyn says:

I got a bingo on my White Woman Nonsense card with her comment.

    • Me says:

@Robyn what did you play for Nikki Minaj’s anti vax rants?

      • Robyn says:

I commented about Minaj over on those threads… In this instance I’m referring to her wagging her finger at haters with the love and light bullshit that is so common with this particular type of anti-vaxxer.

  15. Stephanie says:

Whether its a celeb or not, I’m always surprised at people who have young children at home and still won’t get the vaccine. I know people who refuse and they have babies at home. Like, if you don’t want to do it, at least do it for your kids sake.

    • observer says:

i was raised by an antivaxxer. when you wont even make sure your child has the polio vaccine…what kids do you actually care about??

antivaxxers are narcissists. they’re also guillible and/or love to cherrypick information that feeds into their conscious narrative.

  16. Annaloo. says:

Health is wealth. No one wants to gamble their health, but we have a disease that unless vaxxed, you won’t know if your card is up until it’s too late. People are forgetting they can spread this, and the unvaxxed are at the forefront of this danger to themselves and us all.

I hate the state of things now

  17. Square_bologna says:

    “silence your mind” Exactly. 🙄

  18. Anonymous says:

Anti vaccine people are one reason we are not going to see the end of this pandemic. We also need to call out the Emmys. Getting the vaccine is not a silver bullet to go to a super spreader event. Attendees were kissing, hugging and taking pictures. The least they could have done; in an event of that size, was social distance and mask up. I’m vaccinated but I know I can still spread the disease to minor children, immunocompromised and/or ill people that can’t vaccinate. They acted with total disregard. The only precaution taken was asking the servers to put on a mask even though they were required to be vaccinated. It’s total hypocrisy of them to claim they follow the science and then attend an event of that size without taking additional precautions. Shame on them!

    • ME says:

Yup. This is why I have so much respect for Jen Aniston for not going.

    • Case says:

I agree. I’m finding that now a lot of people don’t want to take ANY precautions with events — they refuse any combination of social distancing, holding it outside, and masks to create the illusion of being “back to normal,” and I can’t understand it. It feels like the Emmys cheated by having it in an outdoor “tent” that was a huge structure with air conditioning. In LA you’re supposed to be masked indoors, and I guess this was their gross workaround.

  19. girl_ninja says:

Gisele is the same person who donned a full burka to go to hide the fact that she was visiting a well know plastic surgeon. She is a phony.

  20. EllenOlenska says:

I silenced my mind for five minutes and came to the conclusion that they are both thoughtless morons who should be shunned like the Covidiots they clearly are.

  21. Stacy Dresden says:

“Hate isn’t the answer” – promoting anti vaccination, anti science rhetoric during a global pandemic is what isn’t the answer. Giselle sucks and so do all the other ignorant celebs running their mouths like this. If your opinion is directly in conflict with what every major medical group worldwide is begging and pleading for people to do, please do the world a favor and keep it to your damn self!

  22. ME says:

If you’re defending an anti-vaxxer, you’re most likely an anti-vaxxer yourself. F*ck anti-vaxxers. They are the reason this pandemic won’t end.

  23. Case says:

I unfollowed anyone I was following who liked that post. Not only did Doutzen post her oh-so-brave opinion, she was also spreading misinformation (like the fact that the vaccine caused the Delta spike — lol ok, not like it went through England and India before us) in her Insta stories.

If people don’t want to get the vaccine, they can all go live on an island together. You do you, but don’t subject the rest of us to your ignorance.

  24. Moderatelywealthy says:

Her family comes from a region that voted 80% pro fascist in Brasil, yet she has been all ” we should love each other” while het country burns because, while she may not believe in it, it is convenient for her to not take sides.

What I am trying to say is that she truly believes her friend should be treated with love and respect when her friend is saying stupid things because it is easier than telling her friend a bunch of peasants know better and because it is “her” friend so we should know Doutzen is amazing by association.

    • Eve says:

      @ModeratelyWealthy:

Finally, a reasonable, well-informed comment about Brazil.

      She’s a f*cking vaccinated hypocrite.

    • Kath says:

I am also from the south of Brazil and did not vote for that a-hole Bolsonaro, please don’t generalize. I also know a lot of people that didn’t and like 99% of those who did would never vote for him again. Just because she is from there doesn’t mean she supports him.
Although to be fair I have no idea if Gisele supports him or not.

      • Moderatelywealthy says:

I am speaking about numbers. The South of Brasil voted over 70% Bolsonaro. It is the truth. I am not generalizing or saying all people there are assholes and voted for him, but over 70% did.

I cannot go around and say how many of those are going to vote for Bolsonaro or if Gisele family is fascist. Iam just making a point she comes from a relatively white/middle class place in Brasil.that heavily supported a fascist and that she has been silent a d insisting on posting “love and peace” stuff while the world burns. It is reasonable to assume that she might not be antivaxx/ fascist, she is comfortable enough to not say anything or only offer platitudes.

    • Kath says:

      Fair enough

  25. Monette says:

This beach is 100% vaccinated. Remember she used to preach for years that she wouldn’t have plastic surgery and then she got caught in Paris wearing a burka to her plastic surgeon. Remember that?
She has had her boobs and eyelids done.
She is totally vaccinated, just likes to be superior Mother Theresa. If the heat gets too high she will let it slip she is vacconated, she just wanted to show us how to be compationate towards other people bla bla bla

  26. Victoria says:

Gisele would be a disgrace for us Brazilians if she wasn’t vaccinated. If there’s one thing we are proud of ourselves here, it’s our high rate of vaccinated people.

  27. Teebee says:

If there was an award for the most tone-deaf, entitled, arrogant, ignorant response to another already entitled, arrogant, ignorant diatribe, well Giselle would definitely warrant a nomination.

You have got to know there are people who want the vaccine that cannot get it, have lost family because there were many many months that no vaccine was available yet, have now lost people because they have given into the world of misinformation. This is not the time to fill the void with “can’t we just let people believe what they want to believe?” Abso-fucking-lutley not. We have been existing for almost 2 years in a global pandemic. It’s a fact. People have died, millions, because of it. We now have a life-saving vaccine available due to the advances in science our ancestors did not possess. This is a no brainer.

The only thing I appreciate about people using social media to trumpet their beliefs during this time, is that I can see who in my sphere of reference is someone I can avoid from this day forward. And I mean mostly in my little non-celebrity world. But I do appreciate good gossip. And I do appreciate the dialogues that come from a good gossip story. And I really appreciate seeing a lot of intelligent people driven to express themselves when we’re so goddamn frustrated. And that is why I’m here. I have shared more opinion here than anywhere else. Funny that, but for some reason this community of commenters really resonates with me. Thank you Celebitchy, and thank you Celebitchers. May we all live to vent another day!

  28. GgRosey says:

I have 2 words for Gisele “F*** you!”

  29. Lizzie says:

She posted dangerous garbage on social media, a strong reaction is called for. Both owe their followers a correction and apology.

  30. JillyBeann says:

Dumb ass models need to shut up and let people who study science talk

  31. Amanda says:

Honestly, I never really liked her anyway. She just seems to give off bad vibes.

  32. Rea says:

Unpopular opinion but people should be able to decide what to put in their bodies.

    • Jaded says:

No, people should respect the fact that this disease is wreaking havoc on health care workers, preventing those with other serious diseases from getting necessary surgery or treatment, and killing people. People should be community-minded enough to get vaccinated and stop the spread. It’s not all about “mah rights!” You do not have the right to spread a dangerous, highly communicable illness. Period.

    • goofpuff says:

Yes, that worked out really well for smallpox in the US didn’t it? The whole “anti-vax” or rather “anti-varicolation” movement nearly tanking our chances of even existing as a country. Just think what would have happened (or never happened) if the anti-vax brigade had prevailed with small pox and their rights to not be vaccinated because “god wills” and “mah rights”.

There’s a reason why our military is very tough on making sure all the troops are vaccinated.

    • Robyn says:

You *can* choose what you do (or do not) put into your body – nobody is being physically forced here. What you cannot choose is to be free of the consequences of those decisions. Freedom, even “medical freedom” comes at a cost.

      • Kate says:

Exactly. Just like you *can* choose to put a fifth of tequila in your body if you want, but you *can’t* then get behind the wheel and drive because you would be endangering others’ lives. Society is allowed to place limits on how you interact with other members of society if your behavior has a high risk of harm to others.

      • North of Boston says:

Yeah, you can choose to not get the vaccine, but then you’re also choosing the consequences of that choice, including increased risk of getting infected, suffering and dying plus spreading it to other people.

Other people can choose whether or not they want you around them, whether they want to employ you, serve you at a restaurant, welcome you to their theatres or offices and whether they want to view you as a selfish COVIDiot.

Your body, your choice… but you don’t get to choose to be unvaccinated and also put others people at risk by going out in public maskless and spreading false information, just as you can choose to drink heavily – your body your choice – but you don’t get to put other people at risk by drunk driving or encouraging others to do so.

    • Veronica S. says:

Sure, and then the rest of us in society can choose to exclude them from being able to associate freely from the rest of us since her choices affect people other than herself. Because that’s how societies work. If she doesn’t want that responsibility, she can go live in the woods.

You can’t have it both ways. You can’t have individual freedom without individual responsibility. Wanting all the benefits of society without the responsibility of being part of one is just pure self-entitlement.

    • sparky says:

So, are you also saying that people should have control of what is taken FROM their bodies??!!?? The arguments used by anti-vaxxers seem to support Right To Choose/abortion.

    • KCK says:

Rea: I agree. And people shouldn’t have to prove they are vaccinated. That’s what they want to do where Doutzen lives (that’s why she posted that). If you think about it, it’s really scary. Vaccinated people should think about it.

  33. psl says:

But she has breast implants and Botox.

    She’s an ass.

    • Valerie says:

One of the biggest anti-vaxxers I know (unfortunately) also has two of the biggest implants I’ve ever seen. She posts multiple times a day on social media about the dangers of being injected with “unknown substances” and refers to vaccines as ticking timebombs as if she doesn’t have god knows how many CCs of silicon in her chest.

  34. Jaded says:

So Gisele says…”go deep within to find love in your heart so we can all unite in peace and create harmony in our lives and in our world. We need it more than ever.” Well here’s someone with a million dollar body and a 2 dollar engine spouting inane platitudes about love and peace and harmony while people are getting sick and dying in droves and the health care industry is crashing.

No you utter airhead, what we need more than ever is to get people vaccinated.

  35. Shanaynay says:

Oh, Gisele…. so pretty, and yet so dumb!!!!! Time for her to STFU and just continue looking pretty.

  36. K says:

Idiots of a feather get Covid together.

  37. Margot says:

Models are not health experts. Stop looking to celebrities for your health info! Gah.

  38. Valerie says:

How come all the kind and loving people come off as assholes? We can’t all be such poor judges of character.

  39. candy says:

I remember a time when no one would have dared speak about healthcare without a license to do so.

  40. CindyP says:

Models & athletes…2 peas in a pod which is probably why they couple up. Very undereducated & not that smart

  41. TEALIEF says:

@ JADED “Go deep within to find love in your heart so we can all unite in peace and create harmony in our lives and in our world. We need it more than ever.”

Cue the 70’s Coca Cola commercial:
I’d like to buy the world a home
    And furnish it with love
Grow apple trees and honey bees
    And snow white turtle doves.

I’d like to teach the world to sing
    In perfect harmony
I’d like to buy the world a Coke
    And keep it company.

What we need more than ever are behaviours rooted in reason and responsibility. We need people to get vaccinated to help grow herd immunity.

  42. Otaku fairy says:

Just no. I get not wanting to see someone get hate, but her friend in this case is using her platform to pander to a dangerous segment of the population.

  43. Jananell says:

Brains and beauty? I think not.

  44. Hello Kitty says:

Ahh Gisele- probably unvaccinated, but ok with Botox, fillers, facelifts, and plastic surgery while spouting on about a healthy lifestyle

  45. VitaBANItaBONnita says:

    Aww.. I love Gissele!
