Angelina Jolie sold her half of Miraval to a subsidiary of the Stoli Group

We learned in late September that Brad Pitt’s legal shenanigans did not stop Angelina Jolie. Jolie told the California court in July that she had a buyer for her half of Chateau Miraval and her half of the winery business. She asked the court to remove the restraining order on jointly-held assets so that she could go through with the sale. In late September, the path was cleared, and now we know who bought Angelina’s half of Miraval: Tenute del Mondo, a subsidiary of Stoli.

Angelina Jolie has sold her share of Château Miraval to Tenute del Mondo – a subsidiary of the Stoli Group – that counts Masseto and Ornellaia among its portfolio, for an undisclosed sum. The group has bought 50% of Château Miraval, and the Miraval brand, from Angelina Jolie, it announced today (5 October), through its ultra-premium wine division, Tenute del Mondo, a subsidiary of the Stoli Group.

Damian McKinney, global CEO of Stoli Group said they had long admired Miraval’s “exceptional” wines and brand and was thrilled to have a position alongside Brad Pitt as curators of its extraordinary vintages.

“We are truly honoured to do our part to uphold the integrity and commitment, as well as invest the time and passion evidenced in both the Château and the Miraval brand,” he said. Speaking exclusively to the drinks business following the announcement, McKinney said that the Stoli Group aims to build on an “already great” brand, saying that he believed it could double the size of the brand relatively quickly.

“With our global footprint we believe we can bring huge value,” he said. “I think they’ve done a really good job – the Champagne is really beautiful. The question is how we bring our brand building and our global route to market, especially in Asia Pacific, where we’re really strong, into play,” McKinney said. Although the finer details of the deal have not yet been disclosed, McKinney described the group as having bought Miraval for “a very fair price for an amazing brand,” adding ” We’re very happy.”

In the meantime, Stoli Group’s key focus is to build relationships with the other parties – namely, Brad Pitt, who owns the remaining 50% stake in the Château through his company Quimcum, and the Southern Rhône winemaking specialists, the Perrin family, who co-owns the estate and manages the winemaking. “For me, that’s the first port of call – how do we get together and work out what we can do in the future?” he said. “In Brad Pitt you have a consummate professional and with the Perrin family, you have a great reputation of amazing wines – so I think we have the right combination.”

This sounds like it’s win-win for everyone involved. Angelina disposes of her half of one of their largest jointly-held assets, and she sold it for a fair price which makes her happy and makes the buyer happy. Tenute del Mondo has the distribution infrastructure to expand the Miraval label across the world and increase sales and profit. And after Brad threw a tantrum about it, he’ll likely greatly benefit from having business partners with such a large existing stake in the industry. The value of Miraval – both the estate and the winery – is reportedly north of $150 million. I wonder what Angelina got for her half.

I don’t understand why he was fighting it in the first place, sounds like the business will expends and will benefit him more than if he effectively stopped her from selling her share.

    • Maria from Tercer mundo says:

Because his first intention was controlling her through the finances. He is an abuser after all

    • Mireille says:

Control. This has always been about controlling her, not the finances. Miraval will flourish under this new partnership and Brad will benefit. So why indeed fight the sale? It’s Angie who loses out from future profits, but she doesn’t care — she just wanted out and to cut as many ties as possible with Brad.

    • Surly Gale says:

Control of Jolie and the more money he earns, the more those he ripped off w/his “charitable building/giving of homes” after Katrina lawsuit can go after him for. His lawyers can demand payment, if he earns more. And Jolie is washing her hands of him and his controlling schtick. I’m so happy for her ~ Oh, and now he’s earning more, maybe he can catch up on the child support he owes …
What IS going on with those lawsuits about the housing..does anyone know? I just googled but didn’t find anything current…

      • Caitrin says:

He’s suing the former Make It Right executive director, Tom Darden. He also tried to push for removal as a defendant on the suit, but a federal judge noped that hard because he was a founder and major fundraiser.

Meanwhile, those houses are largely unlivable for the folks who desperately need affordable housing here in New Orleans.

  2. Maria from Tercer mundo says:

Good for her. Quietly she is winning every single “battle” that Pitt’s PR team are hiding from the press.

    • Sierra says:

Yep, if Angie is winning the court battles then that means she is showing the evidences for her side of the story.

  3. Noki says:

And Brad would have had to approve of the Stoli group right?

    • Lady D says:

Not sure. She offered to sell him her half first. When he said no, I think that’s as far as he could go, control wise with the sale or terms.

    • Wiglet Watcher says:

I doubt he had veto power if he didn’t approve. He was said to be bringing in people all the time and not telling Angelina. Leaving her to just being done with it.

    • Coco says:

No he had no say so. The judge ruled that she can sale her half with out his input.

  4. TIFFANY says:

You would think as some point Brad would be embarrassed, realize that he ain’t winning, stop spending this money to try and control AJ and just properly divorce and pay what be is suppose to. Dude, this is mother to your six children who you were with for 15 years.

It would be cheaper to just pay child support for the twins at this point and call it a day.

    • Emma says:

Aside from everything else, if he really cared about his children he would never go so public attacking their mother’s character.

    • goofpuff says:

Yeah but if he is really an abuser, and then is their typical behavior. The more he acts like this, the more proof he gives everyone about how abusive he really was to her and the children.

  5. Soni says:

Does this company make anything besides one rosé wine?

  6. Annie says:

Great news for Angie. Will Brad be able bully these people too?

  7. Sierra says:

Another court win for Angie, well done.

Rumours are that she got around 100m for the shares as it included the vineyard. She gets her money and gets rid of another connection to Brad.

  8. Myra says:

That’s great news for her. There’s an end in sight for her after five years.

  9. FCH says:

His company is named Quimcum? Gross.

    • MaryContrary says:

Right?! Omg-I can’t believe no one calls him out on that. So crass and disgusting.

    • goofpuff says:

Yes, noticed that right away. Juvenile.

    • Christine says:

That’s exactly what jumped out at me. He’s disgusting.

    • NotSoSocialButterfly says:

This is exactly what I came here to say. What a goddamn arrogant pig, thinking he is clever. No, Bradley. You aren’t clever. You’re stupid, vapid and spoiled. And I’ve always found you unattractive with your squinty eyes and hella ugly mouth. 🖕🏻

  10. Team.Sussex says:

All I want to know is whether that’s a picture of Ange in a certain Duchess Gold Bond gown! She looks great!!

  11. #facts says:

If Angie got north of 80 million for her shares and vineyard he couldn’t have afforded to buy it outright. Hence the reason he has been whining about how he built it up and gave her ten of his shares. In short terms he wants some of the money she got for her half which is disgusting. Seems it’s about the $ with him.
Being she sold that painting he bought for 11 million. She is raking it in and at this point I wouldn’t be surprised her worth isn’t more than his.
Good for her protection of the kids future on both ends because he is spending millions on BS at Miraval. Who spends 12 million on renovations. He did!
He currently has a lawsui In Bew Orleans about those houses that he should be concerned about.

    • Sammie says:

There is not enough press coverage for what is happening with his charity in NOLA. The suffering that people are experiencing from sheer neglect and corner cutting is horrendous. I think it was in an article today that detailed how one person has come out saying they withdrew from the lawsuit because they were running out of finances as it keeps getting delayed.

      • Caitrin says:

But that’s his legal strategy, no? Drag it on and on in an effort to squeeze out plaintiffs.

    • Coco says:

He also owe taxes for MIR that he has not been paid in years and he owes thousands of dollars in fines for the 3 tractor trailers that are dumped in the ninth Ward and the mess outside the MIR office in New Orleans, which also was abandon.

I’m surprise CB didn’t cover the new article out about it.The reason why it’s not getting that much coverage is because his PR team are paying off the media outlets.

  12. Chlo says:

Would a consummate professional name his business entity “Quimcum”??!?!

  13. Charm says:

    @I pet goat 2:
Quim is an old word (from europe, i think) for vagina. And of course, you know what “cum” refers to.

  14. TheOriginalMia says:

Good for Angie! She gets a sizeable return on her investment in the vineyard and winery and…removes another tentacle holding her tp Brad.

  15. Mireille says:

Brad can have Miraval land and house and install whatever commune, compound, squatter festival he wants. But there is a memorial statue honoring Marcheline on that property. I hope Angie gets to take that away from the grounds and Brad’s clutches without incident.

    • Surly Gale says:

Ultimately, it’s a statue. She can create another one, if Brad decides to be a jerk about her mom (I believe he would be a jerk for the sake of ‘pride’ or something. Or maybe just because he is a real jerk. Or maybe he’s not a jerk and all this jerk behaviour is simply his addictions talking. At this point, same-same). Either way, better to be rid of Brad than hold on for the sake of a statue.

  16. Lively says:

Angelina raking it up !!! Good on you good woman

Brad lawsuit in New Orleans is going drain him.

  17. Lively says:

I bet his artistic wine has gone corporate and his pissed off.
But Angie did him a favour, thank her idiot. And give her the divorce.

  18. Maria from Tercer mundo says:

Good Lord. Today my English improves, at least my slang vocabulary. The man is so gross and childish. The red flags about him were there since ever. Why Angie?!

  19. Sidewithkids says:

No. That’s another reason he’s upset. He had no control over the sale b/c remember he was wondering who she had to buy it and that’s why he wanted the 10% back from her, he wants to owe more than the buyers. He was doing things w/o consulting Angie. (The court documents said this when Angie was trying to remove the ATROS). He wanted to act like he was the only one who knew about the business when Angie did too but he wasn’t telling her everything that was happening just using her name to promote it. Which by the way I think now it loses some (name) recognition/value b/c Angie is no longer attached. Plus, BP now that he can’t use it as a tool to control Angie, he will now get bored w/ it and guaranteed will go quiet on it.

  20. Kaykay says:

I usually buy Miraval or Whispering Angel. I prefer the Miraval bottle’s aesthetics over WA’s. It’s really sexy looking and I am a shallow MoFo. But now that Brad Pitt is the only owner of them two, I just can’t buy it anymore. Hoping he sells his shares.

  21. Sus says:

This statement from the Buyer says it all “…Stoli Group’s key focus is to build relationships with the other parties – namely, Brad Pitt, who owns the remaining 50% stake in the Château through his company Quimcum, and the Southern Rhône winemaking specialists, the Perrin family, who co-owns the estate and manages the winemaking.” “For me, that’s the first port of call – how do we get together and work out what we can do in the future?”

The Stohli Group is owned by Russian Yuri Sheifler (S.P.I. Company) and sales are band in 4 countries. I need to take a deep dive in the Pandora Papers for this one. Glorious Miravel just lost a Shelf, and the Chateau will probably turn into a Neverland billionaire playground. Nice job Ang dumping that on Brad.
