Colin Farrell’s 12-year-old son begged him not to wear short shorts

I generally do not like to speak ill of minors on this blog, but Henry Farrell and I need to have some words. Colin Farrell stopped by The Ellen DeGeneres Show to promote not one but two (very different) movies he’s got coming: After Yang and The Batman. Since Lent is almost upon us, Ellen decided to get all our sinning out on the table and threw up some shirtless shots of Colin running. She noted that he enjoys his short shorts for his daily jogs and how they are en vogue currently. That was when Colin said that his youngest son, Henry, is actively campaigning against the bum-huggers! According to Colin, Henry begs his father not to wear them, despite Colin’s counter arguments. Henry – why do you hate us?

Colin Farrell‘s son is not a fan of his running attire!

The 45-year-old The Batman actor stopped by The Ellen DeGeneres Show for an interview airing on Monday

During his interview, Colin shared how his youngest son Henry, 12, really feels about him wearing short-shorts when he goes running.

While Ellen mentioned that short-shorts “are in now,” Colin quipped, “my youngest son would disagree vehemently with you.”

“He’s mortified,” Colin added. “He says, ‘Please dad, do not wear the short shorts.’”

“But I tell him they feel good,” he continued. “it’s not a ‘fashion thing’, Ellen. Camel toe is never in. We’ve had this conversation.”

I posted the clip below because it’s Colin Farrell and I would never deny you Colin Farrell. I was going to say that Colin and Ellen are really cute together, like siblings. But then Ellen plays a montage of them kissing that got me hot under the collar, so my sibling comments became inappropriate. As for this short shorts argument, I’m going to side with Colin, for obvious reasons. But I also know they are more comfortable for a lot of runners. Honestly, when you live in LA, you get used to people walking around in some wild stuff, so I wouldn’t probably notice a jogger in shorts that should make me blush anymore. However, I am not a 12-year-old boy, and that jogger is not my father. I do know that changes the game considerably, so I probably should side with Henry. Fortunately for us, Colin looks sexy in everything he wears. That man works a pair of jeans like a Dutch Master on an empty canvas.

Which explains why it took four hours to turn Colin into The Penguin for The Batman. It’s hard to cover that much sex. But it sounds like they did it, and that Colin had a blast with his character. And he is unrecognizable, both in appearance and voice. Apparently even Jeffrey Wright, who’d met Colin before, walked right past him with no idea who he was. Maybe if The Penguin was wearing short-shorts we’d know who was in there.

Oh man I used to have the BIGGEST crush on Colin Farrell in college, when he was in his bad boy heyday and was always at Chateau Marmont bc you could still smoke inside there apparently at the time (when most indoor smoking was banned in LA.) The Recruit, SWAT…..I even tried to watch Ballykissangel bc I knew he had been in that (but could never find his episodes lol.)

All that to say…..wear the short shorts colin. You do you. We don’t want to hold you back.

(also my father is a life long runner so I feel the pain of the father running all over town in short shorts, lol. he wears longer ones now though only bc thats what my mom buys him haha.)

Who hasn’t had a crush on Colin? He is extremely good looking and is a treat to watch!!! I enjoy him in his movies though I don’t go out of my way to watch them. He is extremely talented and I hope he gets the nods to his acting as he should.

As for the shorts, yes Colin keep wearing them!!! We love your shorts!!

    • BeanieBean says:

I recently finished watching the entire Ballykissangel series, Colin’s in it toward the end, I think Series 6. He’s not in the final season & they never explain his character’s absence, nor that of his love interest. The show’s continuity was a bit choppy, to say the least.

  2. Silver Charm says:

He’s so underrated as an Actor. Probably bc he’s made some sh*t movie choices but he’s also quietly made some great ones. He has some interesting prestige-y type stuff coming out later this year. Itd be cool to see him finally get nominated for an Oscar.

  3. Xoxo says:

Oh my gosh! So much yum.

  4. Stacey Dresden says:

He is FOINE and aging like a fine wine. Love his acting.

    • Lady Esther says:

Second on aging like a fine wine. Plus he is a terrific actor and particularly a great comic actor – his role in the Gentlemen had me in stitches. He tends to pick interesting work, so he’s slowly become one of those actors on my “if he’s in it, I’ll watch it” list.

  5. BW says:

Oh Henry! You don’t know what short shorts are until you’ve seen Dolphin shorts from the 1980s. Slit up to waist with attached bikinis underneath. And now I want Colin to wear them.

    • LadyMTL says:

Hahahaha OMG I remember those! I was a bit too young to ever wear them, thank god (though yes, Colin Farrell wearing it would be everything.)
In my first year of high school our gym shorts were this short-short style, both for girls and boys, but they changed them soon afterwards to knee length.

    • liz says:

Oh, I am having flashbacks to my high school cross country team, circa 1983! The Dolphin shorts in our school colors (which were navy & white, so not awful).

  6. nikomikaelx says:

People were commenting on Renee wearing a catsuit for her new role, but clearly Colin used one too in The Batman, or are my eyes deceiving me?

Was just curious why no-one was outraged about him?

(To be clearr, i dont really have a opinion on the matter, was just curious why some celebs get yelled at, and some dont.)

    • BeanieBean says:

I see what you’re saying. That was one of my thoughts in looking at those photos–they put him in a fat suit, it’s not just makeup. That’s the penguin per the comic books & I think (though I haven’t watched all iterations of Batman) everyone who’s ever played The Penguin has had some sort of additional padding.

    • Concern Fae says:

I think there’s a difference between playing an actual fat person and playing a comic book character with a canonically non-human body type and face. Even if you hired a larger actor, they’d still be wearing prosthetics.

The real problem with thin actors in fat suits isn’t just the jobs issue, it’s the way it otherizes larger bodies and makes them monstrous, rather than a normal human variation. Someone so awful that an actor who looks like that and could play the part doesn’t exist.

  7. Skyblue says:

I fell hard for him 22 years ago when I watched the movie Tigerland. You know how you can watch a film and there is that standout actor. Meow + talent

  8. kgeo says:

For running, it’s either short shorts or tights. Take your pick Henry.

    • BeanieBean says:

Ha! So true. Poor kid. He’ll survive. My mom used to mow the lawn wearing shorts & a bikini top. We lived right next to our grade school.

  9. MelOn says:

I saw a billboard in Times Square, I had to ask my husband who’s that and are they playing Penguin? The makeup is exceptionally good.

  10. girl_ninja says:

He is aging beautifully and he’s sexier than ever.

  11. Michelle Connolly says:

Just here to say I love Our Colin, he’s from my town in Dublin called Castleknock. Such an underrated actor but so pleased to see he’s still outrunning the demons that used to plague him. Such a gem.

  12. TIFFANY says:

Even after seeing the trailer for The Batman, someone had to point out to me that it was Colin as The Penguin.

I was in denial for a few minutes.

    Great work makeup department.

  13. Eggbert says:

Colin as The Penguin wearing short-shorts is an image that will live rent free in my head thanks Hectate 🤣

  14. JustMe says:

I so would when he was younger and still would today…so frigging hot. Hey Colin , Angie’s single and the heat factor that would be should sustain me into my old age

  15. jferber says:

The man knows how to wear clothes. I don’t love the short shorts on him, but I understand his son’s reasons are more on the embarrassment meter. So typical for that age!
