Selena Gomez in Louis Vuitton at the Critics Choice Awards: glam?

Selena Gomez cracked me up last night at the Critics Choice Awards, where her energy was very “I don’t want to be here.” She was in a glam red Louis Vuitton gown with a full cape and a very lovely gathered bodice featuring a crystal collar. I love classic gowns with thoughtful touches like this. Check out her cool spiky earring too. Selena was nominated for Best Actress in a Comedy Series for Only Murders in the Building. Jean Smart won for Hacks.

HoYeon Jung was also in Louis Vuitton, in this absolutely crazy flapper looking gown with giant flexible inserts at the hip area. When she presented with her Squid Game costars Lee Jung-jae and Park Hae-soo she had to hold the sides and step back at one point so they all could fit in front of the mic. Lee Jung-jae won Best Actor in a Drama Series!

Look at how gorgeous she is from the waist up though.

Juliette Lewis was in an Alberta Ferretti gown with a big bow at the neck. She seemed very happy that it had pockets and she looks like she’s glad to be there. This is a somewhat standard looking red carpet gown and I wish she had done something different with her hair.

I’m not going to lie I was asleep when this category was announced. Melanie Lynskey won Best Actress in a Drama Series for Yellowjackets. Hecate is watching that and says she’s very good. I dig her velvet pantsuit. Melanie thanked her nanny in her acceptance speech, calling her an “angel.” Melanie and her husband, Jason Ritter, have a four-year-old daughter.

Kaitlyn Dever is really pulling off this simple backless red Miu Miu. Her styling is so understated and lovely and the dress really shines. She was nominated for her work in Dopesick. That category, Supporting Actress in a Limited Series, went to Jennifer Coolidge.

I really like Julliet’s dress but your right the hair could be different for this look. She and Selena could have exchanged red dresses and looks imo.
Love Melanie’s velvet pant suit and LOVE that she thanked her nanny. So many celebs don’t even want to admit to having one (or several) and here she is giving credit where credit is due.

Juliette looks amazing! That gown is gorgeous.

I have something nice to say about every dress here, except HoYeon Jung’s . The view from the back looks like she’s hiding bongo drums on each hip.
I love Juliette Lewis dress but agree with everyone she needed different hair. Selena looks wonderful. I don’t know the other two ladies but they look lovely as well.

Selena looked stunning!!! That dress, her hair and jewelry were all on point!!! As for Juliette, I agree her hair is too severe for the dress. As for Melanie Lynskey, I adore per pantsuit, the color is fabulous!!!

I was going to say the same thing!!! HoYean Jung’s dress, aside from bongos, also reminded me of the Carol Burnett skit and the Scarlett O’Hara curtain dress just at the butt. Everyone else looked nice though. Loved Juliette’s pockets. I’m not a fan of bows, but this one looks okay. Yes a better hairstyle would have helped, but it’s not the worse I’ve seen. I thought Selena looked great as she usually always does, sorry she seemed so aloof, but I think that is her status quo. I’m not sure it means anything. I think she works at seeming excited at things and sometimes maybe she doesn’t feel like it. Melanie Lynskey may be the best velvet I’ve seen in a while, and yes a shout out to all the nannies, baby sitters, and just helpers who make life work. Love her.

    I love Selena’s look here!

I LOVED Selena’s look. HoYeon Jung’s dress was not for me, even if she didn’t have those inserts. But it’s clear that she’s having fun with fashion so why not look like a ice cream cone 🤷🏻‍♀️

Selena looked beautiful, and I love Melanie Lynskey and her pantsuit. I’ve liked her since 2 and a Half Men.

Also, is Juliette Lewis still a Scientologist? A cursory google search says yes, but it also is very quiet compared to other Scientologists so I was just curious.

    • Trillion says:

She was raised in the church – not a convert. Last I knew, which was a few yrs ago when she was dating my friend’s husband (!!!)) , she was still involved w/ Scientology.

      • H says:

Her father Geoffrey was a Scientologist. She’s still involved. Like Cruise, I won’t watch anything she’s in because of it.

She was dating your friend’s HUSBAND?

      • BothSidesNow says:

Now I need to know more as Juliette was dating your husband as well!!! Not very classy to say the least! I do love to watch her acting but her affiliation with Scientology is a big no for me. As for TC, I refuse to watch in anything as he is a sh!t person, in general. Plus I think he is too overrated.

      • WiththeAmerican says:

We need to hear more about this!

      • HufflepuffLizLemon says:

I’m with H, I’m now heavily invested in this story. Your friend’s HUSBAND!?!?!

    • BlueNailsBetty says:

According to her Wikipedia page, Juliette “no longer identifies as a Scientologist”.

      • HufflepuffLizLemon says:

Oh good for her. Hopefully she feels more comfortable in time speaking out.
But also, maybe not dating people’s husbands would be good! LOL!

    • AlexisT says:

Friends husband? I want the T too. Was it about to be divorced, separated or full blown house breaker. Even though I like Julliette I could see her being a full blown house breaker. Do people give her a pass because of her indoctrination into Scientology as a child, or do you think by now she should know better? I don’t generally cancel celebrities for most things and I can still enjoy their work just not like them as a person. However, I understand others don’t want to give them their attention or money. It’s just not my way of thinking generally, but I do respect others who see it differently.

      • Nope says:

Re: Scientology pass, the issue is the “suppressive person” shunning. I have a lot of sympathy for people who don’t want to lose their entire family. Leah Remini got hers to leave Scientology with her, but that’s not typical.

I also keep in mind that the auditing a person did can be used to blackmail them and ruin relationships or a career. So as long as they aren’t shilling for Scientology I give people who try to silently get free the benefit of the doubt.

My family is fundie and all went for Trump. I broke with my parents over it and it was excruciating –but I managed to salvage a relationship with one of my siblings and my child still gets to have cousins. If that had been on the chopping block I couldn’t have done what I did. And I’m still paying for it. I wouldn’t force it on anyone. You know?

  7. Chaine says:

Selena is just perfection in this look!

  8. lucy says:

I like all of these except HoYeon’s, the hip thing is too distracting, which is a shame because there’s some nice details on the dress.
I think Selena’s is my favorite.
I first saw Kaitlyn Dever on Justified, and she was SOOOO good even as a kid, and I’m always happy to see her doing such great work and getting recognized for it.

  9. WiththeAmerican says:

Juliette Lewis wasn’t the actress I thought would age naturally she was least such a sexpot bad girl type. I hate Scientology but I love her this is me deal with it energy. Love the dress.

  10. M says:

HoYeon Jung’s face in the first photo says it all. Looks like she just got done performing “Springtime for Hitler,” ripped the pretzels off her hips, and hit the red carpet. She’s way too pretty for that mess of a dress.

    • AmB says:

It had potential! If it didn’t look like the (VISIBLE – no) under-structure was hot glued together from the children’s crafts aisle at Walmart, but more intentional and better supported, it might have worked.

All those panniered ladies in the courts of the Louis got away with it. She could have.

  11. Bash says:

I don’t know what to make of Selena’s look. The dress is cute, but there’s something very OFF about her appearance here, and I can’t quite put my finger on it.
