For a while during the Oscars, I thought The Power of the Dog was going to be shut out completely. It was not! Jane Campion won Best Director and that was the only Oscar out of eleven nominations. Such an odd awards season, honestly. Anyway, Benedict Cumberbatch did the full awards season hustle, but he’s lived and learned and his hustle looks a lot different now with Sophie Hunter(batch) by his side. She wore Dior, and a lot of people really loved her dress. I do appreciate that Sophie has sort of perfected “spouse of the nominee” dressing. This was a good choice – a pretty dress, but not distracting.
For some reason, I thought Jane Campion already won Best Director for The Piano, but no, she won Original Screenplay for The Piano. Last night was her first Oscar in the Best Director category. Genuinely believed that she had ruined her chances, but I guess not. Anyway, she wore this black Dior sack which… honestly, I would wear. I would love to own it.
Olivia Colman in Dior. I completely loved this! Olivia doesn’t like to show a lot of skin and I sometimes wonder if she even really likes fashion all that much, but I think she’s probably hired a stylist at this point, and they’re doing a great job. This is perfect on her – glamorous and retro, yet conservative. She ate!
Stephanie Beatriz in Dior. Very chic. I like the simplicity of it.
