Andrew Garfield broke up with his girlfriend Alyssa Miller? (Update: no!)

One of the most interesting subplots of the awards season was that… Andrew Garfield is incredibly popular and well-liked within the industry. I didn’t know that, honestly. I thought he was seen as a guy who was super-intense and more “unknown” in Hollywood. But that’s not the case! Andrew enjoyed his Oscar campaign for Tick Tick Boom, he enjoyed the interviews and he kept it very loose during the awards shows, showing up everywhere and making friends and posing for photos with Benedict Cumberbatch, Jessica Chastain, Jamie Dornan, Will Smith, Taika Waititi and everybody else. He went solo for the entire awards season and I didn’t even know if there was a girlfriend anywhere around. As it turns out, Andrew broke up with his girlfriend Alyssa Miller a few weeks before the Oscars?

Andrew Garfield and his girlfriend, Alyssa Miller, have reportedly broken up just one month after making their red carpet debut as a couple.

“They were together for quite some time before they went public, but work schedules mean it has been really hard to see each other,” a source claimed to The Sun Friday. “On top of that, it became clear that there were some differences between them, and it was decided they are better off apart, for now at least.”

The insider told the British newspaper that Garfield and Miller were a “really beautiful couple” and things were “going great at first,” but they just could not make it work in the end.

“It was disappointing for Andrew because he’d have loved to have shared the excitement of the awards season with someone he loved, but it just wasn’t supposed to be,” the source added.

The “Amazing Spider-Man” star is said to be doing well despite the circumstances and attempting to stay positive. “He is keeping his chin up and taking some time for himself after a hectic few months,” the source told the outlet.

Reps for Garfield and Miller did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment.

Garfield, 38, and Miller, 32, took their love public while attending the 2022 SAG Awards together on Feb. 27.

Just days prior to their red carpet debut, the duo were seen hitting a tennis court in Malibu, where they showed plenty of PDA before Valentine’s Day.

“[They] were certainly happy in each other’s company and not hiding anything,” an eyewitness told E! News at the time.

[From Page Six]

Huh. Page Six says that they started up last November, so it wasn’t like they had been together for a serious amount of time. It was probably more like a fun relationship, just dating and it didn’t work out. I think it would probably be really fun to be single throughout an awards season? Like, just show up solo at events and hang out with everyone and dance and have a good time. I think that’s exactly what Andrew did.

Update: After all that, it seems that Alyssa and Andrew did not break up. Alyssa posted a photo on Instagram of herself and Andrew with the message “If you must gossip at least use a cute photo. Lol love you AG.”

His performance in Tick, Tick Boom was amazing

      THIS!

I know I said this throughout award season, but I’ll say it again… IMO Garfield delivered the best performance of the year.

I agree! He had to carry that whole film, pretty much by himself, while paying fitting respect and tribute to Broadway legends, and he did it beautifully.

      • Paula says:

He was incredible as Larson. Can’t believe I had never payed much attention to him prior to this movie, he’s a fantastic actor.

      • Christine says:

He also sold Spiderman, for me, and I am a person with a 12 year old who was always going to love Spiderman. I’m not going to remotely spoil, but there are a whole lot of moments that were really emotional, and Andrew Garfield was the reason all of them worked, and I REALLY love Tom Holland. The movie wouldn’t have worked without Andrew.

We saw Angels in America on Broadway a few years back. I wanted to see Nathan Lane. We made silly jokes about seeing Timon and Spiderman. He was amazing. Blew us away. Have been a fan every since.

Really don’t believe that line about Andrew wanting to share it with someone he loved. I think he didn’t want the hassle of being public and it was just easier (and probably more fun) going solo.

  3. Sasha says:

He seems extremely personable in interviews. Kind of like Robert Pattinson – don’t take themselves too seriously and are a lot of fun. I can see why he would be well liked.

  4. VIOLET says:

Alyssa has now posted on her IG saying that this isn’t true.

I don’t follow anything closely enough to follow through with more on this ‘scoop’… but It’s out there now that his publicist and his best friend and her hubby unfollowed Alyssa after that post and another famous friend liked the post (then unliked and deleted their comment). Very odd happenings considering he’s usually pretty quiet and private about his personal life.

  5. MellyMel says:

Love him and the comments yesterday on Twitter to this news was hilarious! If Andrew is actually single, there’s a loooong line of people who are ready to date him lol. Also still recommend Tick Tick…Boom for anyone that hasn’t seen it yet.

  6. Scal says:

He and Jamie dornan came to LA around the same time-the used to be flat mates for a short while so they are super close.

He’s been around the industry a long time-nominated for hacksaw ridge, some Broadway plays and has a solid rep for being professional and kind to costars. Not surprised it’s really showing this award season.

  7. FHMom says:

I adore him. His performance in Tick Tick Boom was so good. He should do Broadway next

  8. Lightpurple says:

He has done Broadway. He was Tony nominated for playing Biff in Death of a Salesman with Phillip Seymour Hoffman and was Walter in Angels Over America in London and Broadway

  9. mmcaav says:

He’s really charming so I assume that’s how he got someone so out of his league but I’m happy for her because her marriage to Cam Avery was a mess ( seems like he was abusive) so it’s nice she’s with someone who seems to be gentle.

  10. MipMip says:

I had never heard of Alyssa Miller but I just checked out some of her music. It’s good!

AG has always seemed like an actual decent human being so good for both of them.

  11. Oria says:

Alyssa Miller dated Jake Gyllenhaal for a long time. That’s all I got.
She posted pictures on IG about how Jake wrote romantic messages on the mirror before leaving in the morning. And people called her his beard.

  12. Normades says:

Eh. Her post doesn’t mean that they’re still together. It says if you gossip use a good pic and love you AG could just mean fine we’re good, I think they broke up.
