Gabrielle Union and Dwyane Wade are super cute together. They obviously had some relationship struggles many years ago, but they seem like good people and great parents. The way they are so vocally supportive of Zaya’s gender identify is a wonderful thing. Their family seems very loving and supportive and they seem like a solid couple with common interests in activism, fashion (he takes more risks than many other male celebs), and fitness. Dwyane was, of course, a professional athlete and Gabrielle is famously hot and fit and has done a bunch of action roles. To no one’s surprise, the two of them work out together and Gabrielle posted their workout on her Instagram.
It’s official, Gabrielle Union and Dwyane Wade are #CoupleGoals in every sense. They’ve been married for eight years and counting, they’re the proud parents to three children, and they’ve established themselves as one of the cutest families on TikTok. On top of all that, the couple also supports each other in their fitness journeys.
Union recently posted an Instagram video of the two putting in work at the gym. “I be up in the gym, workin on my @fitonapp fitness, he’s my witness!” wrote Union in the caption, a clever nod to Fergie’s 2006 hit, “Fergalicious.” In the clip, the two complete a full-body workout that mixes strength and cardio exercises, and it looks seriously intense.
At the start of the video, Union and Wade complete leg presses before moving on to a treadmill segment where Union walks on an incline while Wade opts for a run. Throughout the video they also perform crunches on a Bosu ball while holding resistance bands over their heads for added tension, alternating lunges using suspension straps, dumbbell chest presses, and cable chest flys.
If you haven’t noticed, Union and Wade never miss a chance to work out together. Exercise is a part of their morning routine, Union previously revealed. “We like to get up together before the kids are up at, like, 6 a.m., and we train together in our home gym,” the FitOn ambassador told Women’s Day in March of last year. “We enjoy it and push each other to stay consistent and stay on top of it.” Even though Union’s and Wade’s fitness goals aren’t the same, working out together has helped keep both of them motivated, the actress shared. “For us, consistency is key,” she told the publication.
If you need any more proof that the couple is #goals, working out with your partner comes with benefits. Research shows that people are more successful at exercising if they do so with their romantic partner, according to a 2021 study published in the Journal of Social and Personal Relationships. The study found that working out with a romantic partner may help people better maintain an exercise routine and improve their experiences as a couple inside and outside the gym.
So, the next time you’re struggling to make it to the gym, try Union and Wade’s method and take your partner (or a friend!) along for the ride.
Gabrielle probably posted that video as part of her work as a FitOn ambassador, but I have no doubt they actually do that workout. I like that they showed both cardio and strength/resistance training. I feel like a lot of the time workout videos from celebs or influencers neglect cardio because it doesn’t look as pretty, but it’s an important component of fitness. I definitely put a greater emphasis on cardio because I find it more enjoyable, but combining it with strength/resistance has the best overall results. Their workout does look tough, but I would guess that their actual workouts are a bit more intense! I mean, look at them. I am 15+ years younger than her and I wish I looked like that. But FitOn is a free app, so they probably did a more accessible version of one of their workouts so as not to intimidate mere mortals like me. Also, HIIT has been kicking my butt lately, so maybe my perception is skewed to think that’s the hardest workout. Their home gym looks amazing and I especially envy those treadmills and her cute green outfit. Maybe I can afford the outfit?
I really like Gabrielle and hope she’s in more stuff soon. Her books are really good — clever, thoughtful, and vulnerable — and her voice really shines through in the writing. She says she didn’t use a ghostwriter and I kind of believe that. I’m in the middle of her second book, You Got Anything Stronger? In addition to all the deeply personal stuff about her reproductive journey to having her and Dwyane’s daughter, Kaavia, Gabrielle talks about the work she did as an producer on LA’s Finest to make the set accessible and welcoming for mothers, first for costar Jessica Alba and later herself. That was the last thing I saw her in and while the show wasn’t the best, it looked great and so did she and Jessica so I watched the whole thing for look inspo. I saw she’s in a Cheaper by the Dozen remake with Zach Braff and while I really like both of them and would like to watch them in something together, I wish it was a different story. I do want to watch something of hers now though.
I guess Gab was rightfully feeling herself after all the hard work and she posted some bikini shots to IG too. She looks fantastic!
