When I saw these pics, I actually said “oh, thank god.” Halsey changes up their hair A LOT: long, short, buzzed, curly, straight, braids, rainbow, solid colors, blonde, brunette, etc, etc. Halsey does this to varying effect and the previous effect was… not great. Her hair for the duration of her tour was very much a lead singer of Nickelback vibe and I didn’t like it. She could have literally any hair and that’s what she chose? Anyway, the American leg of Halsey’s tour is over and they’ve changed it up to a blonde mullet. It’s actually quite cute!
Halsey’s latest hair transformation is a blast from the past.
The Badlands singer transformed their waist-length waves into a shaggy blonde mullet dedicated to the ’90s.
In an Instagram video posted on Wednesday, the singer moved their head from side-to-side to show off the cut’s textured waves, which extended down to the nape of their neck, and tousled bangs.
To top off the old-school look, Halsey teamed the hairstyle with blue eyeshadow and muted red lipstick from their makeup line About-Face.

The “Without Me” singer has previously sported a long jet-black mullet with short pixie bangs.
Beyond showing off their major hair and style moves, Halsey often uses their platform for advocacy, most recently in defense of women’s rights following the Supreme Court’s overturn of Roe v. Wade in June.
I never thought I’d call a mullet an improvement, but here we are. It’s cute and Halsey pulls it off. I actually think their short and/or dark hair looks are consistently better than their long hair looks. I hope she keeps this for a while. But I’d be happy with anything as long as she doesn’t go back to the long frizzy blonde. Especially with the prairie dresses. Halsey’s featured on a new Calvin Harris song with Justin Timberlake and Pharrell and she still has the old hair in the video. Halsey and her partner Alev celebrated their son Ender’s first birthday recently! Ender is adorable and he looks a lot like Alev. It’s nice to see Halsey so happy with their family; they wanted to be a mom for so long.
Aren’t they all just wigs? I remember reading that. Underneath its just her natural curly hair so she doesn’t damage it.

Also, am I the only one who feels like we should be done with music videos where the guys have baggy clothes and the one female musician is wearing basically a bikini?

I tend to think very little of Halsey’s style in general, but this is far from the worst. I don’t hate it.
Isn’t it amazing how hair can completely change the looks of a person? I am constantly amazed at how much our looks are…what is the word I am looking for….”led” by our hair? Fascinating. I would never recognize them, but I am admittedly not a huge follower.

Halsey has a fairly strong jaw, I think the new cut softens her jaw a bit. Which is not to say that I necessarily like her new haircut (I don’t), apart from its jaw-softening effect.
Sometimes I think people with strong jaws should go for haircuts that emphasize their chiseled bone structure. I’m fickle.
Halsey is unrecognizable from when I first saw a picture of them when I was in college. She was very pale with bright blue hair and her original face. She was very ethereal and didn’t have a super chiseled nose or pouty lips. And her music was so different too! If you told me she would ever go from the Badlands album to Eastside with a boob job to match, I’d never have believed you.
That said, I loved their long blue mermaid hair but I think it wouldn’t work as well now with the pop star aesthetic.

In high school (in the ’90s) I went into my hometown hair salon with a photo of Meg Ryan’s shag, and… well… Halsey’s current ‘do is what it was SUPPOSED to look like. I think it’s cute! Halsey’s rocker vibe definitely keeps it from looking dated
