Ghislaine Maxwell will be housed in a low-security Florida prison until 2037

Almost one month ago, Ghislaine Maxwell was sentenced to twenty years in prison for human trafficking and assorted other felony convictions. Maxwell’s defense was that her daddy was mean to her and Jeffrey Epstein was an evil mastermind, except the state established that Maxwell effectively ran a trafficking operation for Epstein, and Maxwell abused girls and women as well. A twenty-year sentence was longer than I was expecting, but it’s also too short, if that makes sense. In any case, Ghislaine has now been moved from New York to Florida, where she’ll spend the next twenty years in a low-security prison in Tallahassee.

Ghislaine Maxwell has been transferred to a low security federal prison in Florida to continue serving her 20-year sentence for sex trafficking, Bureau of Prison records show.

Maxwell, 60, has been assigned to Tallahassee FCI, described on its website as a “low security federal correctional institution with a detention center.”

She was convicted in December on five federal charges, including sex trafficking of a minor, as part of a yearslong scheme with Jeffrey Epstein to groom and sexually abuse underage girls.

Prosecutors argued Maxwell and Epstein conspired to set up a scheme to lure young girls into sexual relationships with Epstein from 1994 to 2004 in New York, Florida, New Mexico and the US Virgin Islands. Four women testified during the trial that Epstein abused them and that Maxwell facilitated the abuse and sometimes participated in it as well.

Epstein, who pleaded guilty in 2008 to state prostitution charges, was indicted on federal sex trafficking charges in July 2019 but died by suicide in prison a month later. Maxwell has been detained since her arrest in July 2020, and prosecutors said she received credit for two years of time served. She is due to be released in 2037.

Released in 2037? Ugh. She’ll be 75 when she’s released? I hate that she gets “credit” for being detained since 2020. I’m also suspicious of the fact that she’s been moved to a low-security prison which apparently has tons of “perks” for the inmates. Perks like yoga, Pilates and arts & crafts. I mean, I’m sure it’s still PRISON. I’m sure she’ll still be uncomfortable and awful. I absolutely wonder if she’ll ever turn over some of the names of the men who accepted trafficked girls. Maybe after a few years of Florida humidity she will.

    FFS, she’s a sex offender.

  2. Noki says:

I hate to sound morbid but i am quite shocked she made it this far.

  3. Scarlett says:

I am going to try to word this correctly.

Does minimum security prison = easy access to GM, should anyone want to have a uhh one-on-one chat with her, or is that just wishful thinking on my part?

  4. HufflepuffLizLemon says:

I am opposed to the death penalty and strongly believe prison should be rehabilitative and not just punitive, especially for people who commit crimes because of a lack of other resources. She committed crimes because she wanted to and it was fun and profitable. Toss her under the prison and leave her there.

After what she did to those girls? Aghast.

  6. Jessica says:

This is sus. She’s gonna commit “suicide” any day now, it’s a miracle they haven’t gotten to her yet with how easily they “suicide”d Epstein.

    • NotSoSocialB says:

Exactly. She will be allowed opportunity to off herself, and if she doesn’t in short order, it will be done for her.

  7. Jaded says:

She’s going to be Epsteined if it’s low-security. Mark my words, there are a lot of powerful men who want her GONE.

  8. Nicegirl says:

I read that she’s allowed to have up to 4 adult visitors and up to 8 children visiting at one time, weekly. I’m so confused and pissed at the idea she’s allowed child visitors, idc if they’re relatives or not. Terrible

Perhaps this is one of the promises made to her if she remained quiet? Someone must have realized that two deaths would be entirely too suspicious.

    • Laura-Lee MacDonald says:

I agree. I think she got this prison as a perk for keeping quiet. She’ll be out on “good behaviour” or something long before her sentence is up as long as she remains silent.

      • AMA1977 says:

Federal time is largely 1 for 1. They don’t offer accelerated sentencing or time off for “good behavior” like state or other institutions. She will serve upwards of 80% of her sentence.

After her appeals are halted or exhausted and after she has, I believe, 3 years in accumulated time served she can petition to serve the remainder of her sentence in the UK. Once she is transferred the UK will have the power to essentially deal with her as they see fit. They could incarcerate her there or release her to house arrest/probation or simply set her free. If she is transferred to the UK, I predict she will be quietly allowed to resume a very low profile life in the UK within a year or so.

I think that her transfer to the “nice” prison in Florida will make it much harder for her to make her case for transfer to the UK on the grounds of inhumane treatment in prison. The liberal visitation for family, pleasant surroundings, opportunities for education and personal growth ect will help work against the argument that she needs to be transferred home. Hopefully, the politicians will keep their hands off. I’ve been concerned that she will continue to refuse to cooperate if she has been led to believe that she will never serve much time on US soil.

Florida, 40 minutes drive from the gulf of Mexico, minimum security, with a potential international spy/daughter of one, lots of funny piles of money stashed related to these people….

I’m not conspiratorial minded usually but considering what happened to Epstein, and Andrew getting off scot free, all the other procurers getting cut deals and off free, how long until Ghislaine mysteriously escapes and is in the wind never to be seen again? I’d say under 2 years.

I hope there is no AC and tons of mosquitos and cockroaches. May she be surrounded by all the worst Florida has to offer.

  13. jferber says:

I think this might be a prison for Special People because God knows, there are tons of Special People in Florida (rich, white, criminal) who could easily be placed in a prison that mimics much of Mara-Lago or the Versace mansion. Because “justice” is different for Special People.

Minimum security, huh? What could possibly go wrong?
