Megan Thee Stallion doesn’t like 30 minute shows: ‘I need you to make this a production’

Megan Thee Stallion’s second album, Traumazine, came out last week. My favorite song is the very catchy “Her” and I also like Anxiety and Scary a lot. There are 18 tracks and Megan told Jimmy Fallon that she recorded over 50 before editing it down. Megan was a guest co-host on The Tonight Show last week. During her interview she brought on her adorable French bulldog, 4oe (pronounced foe). He was wary of the crowd but very well behaved! Megan and Jimmy ate pickles stuffed with Hot Cheetos, which is apparently a Houston thing I’ve never heard of. They also did a goofy cute “thank you notes” skit.

When they were interviewing Natalia Dyer, Megan went on a tangent questioning her about why Natalia’s Stranger Things character, Nancy, dumped Steve for Jonathan (Charlie Heaton, Natalia’s real life boyfriend). It was adorable how much Megan fangirls Stranger Things, and she was a great choice to co-host. I especially like what she said about watching shows and wanted to talk about that. Here’s some of what they said and the video is below.

On show length
Jimmy: These are like movies
Megan: That’s what I appreciate about it, because shows that are 30 minutes, I’m upset. I need you to make this a production
the whole way through so I can stay hooked.

On Nancy’s love life on Stranger Things
Megan: I’m team Stancy. I want [Nancy to be with Steve]. At first you liked Steve and then you just kind of, like, dumped him. He didn’t know what was happening. Y’all keep throwing the kids on him to babysit. He keeps saving y’all life. And you’re like ‘Oh man, I’m going to Jonathan, sorry.’
Natalia: I do feel bad. She doesn’t always make the most morally right decisions all the time.
Megan: In this last season, you was flirting with Steve. What’s it really giving? I feel like you like Steve still.
Natalia: I have have options.
Megan: Yes! Nancy has options you heard it here today first.

They also talked a little bit about Nancy and Robin’s friendship on Stranger Things and Jimmy and Megan said that they should bring Barb back! Megan joked “This is a lesson to friends everywhere. Do not be a third wheel because demogorgans will come get you.” I’m a couple of episodes away from the end of Stranger Things and I don’t have strong feelings about Nancy’s love life. Overall I like Steve and think he deserves someone who wants to be with him. After that Jimmy and Megan started questioning the band members about whether they were ketchup or mustard people. You can tell Megan has very strong opinions about condiments.

As for Megan’s thoughts on show length, I agree with her to an extent. I’m thinking of my current favorite show, P-Valley, which just aired its second season finale. (No spoilers! Also Megan was a guest this season and she has a new song with Lil Murda recorded just for P-Valley! It’s dirty and hot. This show is amazing and worth subscribing to Starz for.) P-Valley needs longer episodes for the most part because it’s deep and really goes into the characters’ lives and backstory. However this second season wasn’t as consistently watchable as the first. It’s been dark and trauma-filled and there are episodes I wanted to be shorter. I guess my opinion on show length depends on how much I’m enjoying it. It also is specific to the genre. For comedies and reality competition shows a half hour is just about right. Like Abbott Elementary’s runtime is perfect and tight. There’s also something to be said for how bingeable half hour shows are.

She has a lizard named Billiam!

I’m steeped in 40 years of weekly episodic shows & daily soap operas and cut my teeth on the “Golden Age of Sitcoms❤)…soI am…SO MALLEABLE when it comes to this😛)…but I OVERSTAND why Megan feels this way…just based on her age/viewing indoctrination 👍

Megan is absolutely adorable in the thank you card segment.

And yes, love when a high profile celebrity talks about television like they actually watch it. Not everything has to artiste and pretension.

I’m of the opposite mind. I feel like some shows would be better shorter, less filler. I also like that more shows nowadays are only 8-10 episodes. I’ve stopped watching some shows because they’ll have 20-24 episodes a season and suffer from dragging out storylines too much.

I just watched The Bear, which is awesome. The episodes are generally short (1/2 an hour), and if they were longer, I don’t know if I could watch. They do a great job of showing the stress and anxiety of working in a kitchen, and, any longer, you’d be too stressed to continue watching.

Haha My daughter and I are going to watch Only Murders in the Building in a bit. She said this episode is only 29 minutes and we both groaned. Megan is correct!

She’s the best. I’m the same with what I watch

I loved her new album. “Not Nice” has been on repeat all week. Her co-host stint was so fun to watch! She truly is a star and has that it-factor in spades.

She has it all–talent, beauty, kindness, charisma, good banter, good fashion and a great sense of fun. I’ve stanned for her a long time and I’m with her for life.
