Jennifer Lawrence wore Del Core to the ‘Causeway’ UK premiere: better than Dior?

Jennifer Lawrence walked the red carpet at the BFI London Film Festival premiere of Causeway, J-Law’s new film and her first film as a producer. I was looking at these photos and I got really excited, thinking that Dior had finally designed something special and cool just for J-Law. Not so much! This dress isn’t Dior, it’s by Del Core. Those aren’t polka-dots, they’re sewn-in pearls. The dress is kind of a mess at the very bottom, but otherwise, it’s really good. I’m glad she’s not wearing another boring Dior.

Jennifer did press in at the film festival and she ended up talking about how crazy it was for her right after the first Hunger Games movie came out and then she won the Oscar for Silver Linings Playbook (both films came out in 2012).

Jennifer Lawrence has revealed that she sensed a loss of control in the wake of the huge success of the first “Hunger Games” film in 2012. Talking to Francine Stock about her career as part of the London Film Festival’s “Screen Talk” series, Lawrence opened up about her feelings on working in the hit franchise.

“I think I lost a sense of control. Between ‘The Hunger Games’ coming out and winning the Oscar [for 2012’s ‘Silver Lining Playbook’], I became such a commodity that I felt like every decision was a big, big group decision. When I reflect now, I can’t think of those following years, [because there was] just a loss of control.”

Lawrence went on to explain how she feels she has clawed her identity back again. “It feels personal for me the first time in a long time,” she said.

[From Variety]

Yeah, there was maybe a six-year span when she was just terribly overexposed and overworked. It was film set after film set, premiere after premiere interview after interview. It would often feel wall-to-wall. It didn’t help that J-Law seemed to be a chronic oversharer too, but I’m sure part of that was just Jennifer being a young woman who was in over her head and trying to describe what it was like for her. A loss of control, for sure. Being able to “go away,” take a break from making movies, getting married and having a baby… it sounds like that did ground her a lot.

She looks much better in this dress than Dior. Makeup is great.

  2. littlegossipboy says:

She’s so pretty. I have a big soft spot for her.

  3. SarahCS says:

I’m happy for her. She absolutely became a commodity which combined with her openness was a lot for everyone, including for her. I’m glad she got through that and has found a better place to be.

  4. Chaine says:

It looks way too matronly for someone her age.

    • Eurydice says:

Yes, I was going to say this. Maybe if the pearls had been sewn on the dress instead of that Golden Girls cape/poncho thingy.

    • MsIam says:

I thought the same thing. I don’t like it, it looks like curtains and it ages her terribly.

    • Lady Baden-Baden says:

Oh thank god it’s not just me! Matronly and boring. On the other hand, she’s recently had a baby – can’t fault her for seeking something comfortable rather than fashion- forward

    • FhMom says:

Exactly. It looks like something Melania would wear. She’s way too young for that dress.

    • lucy2 says:

It’s a bit matronly, but I kind of like it.

    • BeanieBean says:

And she upped the matronliness with her hairdo. Second thought: do you really want to sit on tiny little pearls/buttons all evening?

    • Otaku fairy says:

It’s the color and the polka dots.

    • tealily says:

I think it could be really mod and youthful if the length was shorter. Like, above the knee.

  5. Loretta says:

    She’s glowing

  6. Sara says:

I can’t pinpoint exactly what she’s done to her face but….something (several things?) are different.

    • DouchesOfCambridge says:

I think it’s probably just botox. I hope her new movie will be easier to watch than Mother, i tried numerous times to watch and finish it, and just couldn’t get through lol my kids love her so much

    • Roxy says:

I think she’s done something with her eyes, they look less hooded

    • Genevieve says:

Her eyes are a lot less hooded. And around her mouth looks different to me, as well, but it could just be botox around there. Or something.

      • Lens says:

It could be her eye makeup that makes the eyes look less hooded. I’ve been looking at tutorials can you tell? She looks pretty here, Although I would have preferred pearls sewn on to the dress not cape.

    • mari says:

Was gonna say, are we gonna pretend she has the same face? I didn’t know it was her.

    • tolly says:

I think the dental work is the most dramatic change. She had unusually dainty teeth for Hollywood, but they got her an Oscar and two billion-dollar franchise roles. Why mess with them?

    • Sandy says:

I see botox, a chin implant, and at some point she has had a subtle rhinoplasty

She may have had an upper facelift. I have heard upper facelifts are frequently the cause when one can tell there is “something” different but can’t pinpoint what exactly

I think an upper face lift may account for the change in her eyes/upper face. Mila Kunis had that done as well from the photos a few days ago where there was something different but difficult to tell what specifically.

      • Sudie says:

Definitely some chin & neck work. Jennifer has always had what is called a “turkey neck”, (I have the same and it’s something I notice on everyone else). Losing weight doesn’t help, it’s def a procedure. It’s a big self esteem issue for most women, including myself. She looks really good and has a softness about her face that I’ve never seen on her before

    • Robyn says:

I think she had buccal fat removal. The top half of her face looks fine, but it’s definitely less full around her mouth.

  7. Alexa says:

Her face looks good, but her dress is horrible.

  8. Noki says:

I truly hated that goofy clumsy over the top schtick she was on. She seems matured and regrouped.

  9. Sue says:

I felt like Dior dressed her in some really boring, ugly and too old for her things. I’m sure she was paid very well to wear them, though. It’s nice to see her in something different.

  10. Twin Falls says:

I think she looks very pretty and I like the dress.

  11. Jessica says:

I can’t stand her..I’m a regular girl who farts a lot..giggle giggle Schtick. It is so old. Her recent profile in Vogue gives me hope that baby and marriage has matured her.

I like this look on her. I am always shocked at how different she looks in pap pics with no make up. I would never know it is her. The only other person I can think of that looks that drastically different between make up and filtered pics and non staged ones is Jenson Button’s new wife..the one with all the unnecessary vowels.

    • Coco says:

Yes her I’m not like the other women in Hollywood, I don’t care about weight like the others and eat all types of junk food ( Depict the fact that she was thinner and thinner as years went by) If no bathrooms are available, I just pee in the sink and don’t wash my hands because I’m such a regular person.

She was so exhausting and fake.

  12. HeyKay says:

    Coco,
Agree 100%. I have never liked her, she strikes me as a big phony.
And btw, her looks are nothing special. MN and WI are packed full of 18-35 y/o who look very much like her.
Take a look at any MN county fair and the Miss Dairy Princess candidates, most look like a relative of hers.

Btw, wasn’t she one of Harvey W favorites?
Her and Gwenny P. = pass.

  13. shanaynay says:

    Very pretty dress.
