Khloe Kardashian: Some girls ‘just want to be slender, but I like to be muscular’

Do y’all work out on rowing machines? I haven’t been on one in years. I know rowing machines are great workouts but I feel like I’m dying on them. Well, Khloe Kardashian has a new brand ambassadorship. She’s teaming with Hydrow as the face of their fancy new rowing machines – the “new” part is that the machines have screens in front of them so you can watch TV or pretend you’re rowing on water or something. To promote the new deal, Khloe recently chatted with People about her fitness and gym time. Khloe has been a gym rat for years now, although she only recently started “looking” like a gym rat because she finally got her Pinocchio Butt removed. Now her body is much more proportional-looking, plus the Khloe and Kim are currently trying to be as “small” as possible. Some highlights from People:

Khloe wants to be muscular, not just skinny: “I like muscle. I know some girls, they just want to be slender, but I like to be muscular. [I like to] strengthen my body. I don’t just want to be skinny, I want to be really strong. Everyone has their own aspirations and body goals, but I love when I’m like, ‘Oh my gosh, I have new muscle definition,’ or I finally have that tricep cut that I’ve always wanted.”

Her fitness journey: Kardashian, who describes herself as “a fan of the gym,” says she’s been working out for years now and sees staying fit as a “journey” for her “mind, body and soul.”

Mental health: “Fitness just plays hand in hand with mental health, and when I just sit in the gym, I feel so accomplished. What you give to the gym, you get out of it.” And while she’s the first to admit she has moments “all the time” when she has to give herself a pep talk to get active, the mom of two notes, “I never regret after I go to the gym. I mean, I might be lagging and finding any excuse in the book to not go at times, but once I’m done, that sense of accomplishment [sets in], like, ‘Okay, I feel good,’ and I’m on the right track that day.”

Working out on Hydrow rowing machines: Noting how she will get “really bored, really easily,” the Good American co-founder says Hydrow allows her to have fun while breaking a sweat. “I absolutely love that you’re able to have the monitor in front of you, and you get to have the experience that you’re on the water. And I just love the diversity of it all in all the different classes and different places you could travel to. Having a rower as part of my daily workout is just something that fulfills me, and it works so much of my body. Even if you don’t have time to do a full hour rowing workout, you can essentially get a full body workout for 86 percent of your muscles within 15 to 20 minutes.”

If I’m being honest, I find Khloe slightly inspirational in this very limited area. The rest of Khloe’s life is a catastrophe, but I like that she’s all about physical strength and fitness-as-mental-health. For years now, you can tell that her workouts have kept her sane. Yes, she’s turned the whole thing into her personal brand, but I appreciate the fact that she’s like “I want to be muscular, I love working out, I want to be strong and look strong.” That being said, I’m still going to avoid the rowing machines.

This photo… lord, did she get re-Pinocchio Butt’d? God help us.

I want muscular arms like Michelle Obama but without intense daily workouts. Anyone know how I can achieve that?

    • Fuzzy Crocodile says:

Oh I would too. Google says a mix of curls (hammer and bicep) with Tricep extensions. But I have a long way to build up to a Tricep push-up.

    • world says:

Climb up or down 3 flights of stairs carrying heavy trash bags- I did this just taking out the trash and unbeknownst to me- quite unintentionally- I developed triceps

I have 5 cats of varying weight. I bench press and arm curl each one of them from lightest to heaviest. I do 5-10 reps with each cat 4 times a day. I have nice looking arms and shoulders. It’s even improved my posture, yay.

  2. Fuzzy Crocodile says:

I love using a rowing machine, but I have to be very aware of my form etc. or I give myself back pain.

I would kind of love one that it seemed like you were on the water… that’s what I usually am imagining anyways. Sometimes a pirate. Sometimes in the Olympics.

    • Nonok says:

They make water-filled rowers that sound like you’re on the water and they aren’t terribly expensive as far as workout equipment goes- and they don’t take up a lot of room. We have one and I love it.

      • bananapanda says:

Is there a way to use these machines without yanking on your feet? No matter how I strap in, I feel like my ankles are taking a beating some days.

  3. Lemons says:

Could she at least try to look like she’s actually working out on the machine and not posing to promote the surgeon’s work?

In other words, I really wanted their smaller model but they don’t ship to France. No Hydrow, no Peloton row…I’m devastated.

Okay Khloe…then where are your muscles? For someone who works out as much as she claims she does, there should be far more visible definition *before* all the photoshop.

    • Usedtobehappy21 says:

Exactly what I came here to say. She should be jacked for all the working out she claims to do. I see thin with the muscle definition that comes with thin. She is so full of it.

I think Khloé is super thin these days from stress and shock and anxiety. I’ve seen that happen before to people very close to me or who I worked with and even the ones who were muscular or still worked out could not keep the weight on and their muscles were not what they were/could be. I’ve watched all of KUWTK and The Kardashians and I think that’s what’s happening here. It’s also possible she started her exercising habit and new eating habits to lose weight and get in shape (and maybe for the exercising to help with stress), but as the stress and anxiety grew, they may have also turned into disorders. Lately you do hear her family mentioning her weight in a nice, but slightly worried, way here and there-there’s obviously some concern, regardless of whether her recent look is unintentional or intentional on her part. I suspect the bulk of it is unintentional after the shock of Tristan’s latest surprise (the affair that led to the “secret baby”), but that’s just a guess. She probably lost most of her appetite and the anxiety burns off a lot of what she does consume, but she still works out, so she has some muscle.

See also: Tom Brady for an example of the shock and stress weight loss & looking thin, but still muscular situation. (Though I’m sure he is and still looks much healthier than Khloé.)

    Yeah, no.
    1. Khloe does not ‘want to be muscular’. She wants to be thin with a huge butt and plastic face. Her brand of ‘fitness’ has nothing to do with being muscular. How do I know? I got eyes.
    2. Khloe is not ‘all about physical strength and fitness-as-mental-health’. How many crash diet b*llsh*t ads have I seen her in in the last 10 years? How many ‘revenge body’/’lost 2 stone and feels beter than ever!’/appetite-supressing lollipop-crap did we endure from her?

  6. Emmi says:

No. I will not be gaslighted by Khloe Kardashian about this shit today. Not today, Satan. Not today.

We have eyes. She is very very slim and if she looks super slim on camera, we all know what she must look like in real life. It’s her body and she can do whatever she wants, fitness-wise, aesthetically, it’s all her decision. But don’t try to look like Audrey Hepburn and tell me you want muscles and don’t want to be this thin. Stop it.

    • Cherry says:

@Emmi That’s funny, we had more or less the same thought simultaneously. ‘No’ pretty much sums it up, right. Make this bullsh*** stop. Us ladies are under so much pressure pretty much all the time to look as small as possible. No doubt Khloe suffers from it too. I am sorry for her, I am. But this crap about her wanting to look muscular- no.

    • bettyrose says:

      @Emmi – I’m LOL’ing so hard at this.

  7. J. Ferber says:

On another note, I just read Khloe wants to meet Tristan’s son with Maralee Nichols (he’s about one year now). I’ve seen Tristan, Prince and True together and I think it would be great to add little Theo to their family. I know it won’t be truly blended like Cardi and Offset’s family, but it’s better than ignoring the baby, especially when Tristan and Khloe have a new baby boy.

  8. Miss Owlsyn says:

Im not begrudging anyone a job but I thought that physical fitness was much more of Kourtney’s brand?

  9. Annalise says:

Shut up Khloe. The day that you don’t freak out about an un-Photoshopped pic of you that your grandmother posted, is the day that I’ll listen to a word you say about body positivity.

  10. Andapanda says:

My gym is really into rowing right now. It’s a crossfit gym and we recently had to do a timed 2000m timed row. It took me about 11 mins and my legs were stiff as board afterward. I felt pretty badass after because I really did not think I could have ever done that and loved being pushed.

Oh and yes Khloe is full of crap. I have eyes and she’s thinner than ever and hardly muscular.
