Andrew Tate arrested in Romania after his stupid clapback to Greta Thunberg

I sincerely hope this is the kind of dramatic FAFO energy we can bring into 2023. What a story to end the year!! As we discussed, Andrew Tate – the infamous misogynist and right-wing caricature – decided to tweet at Greta Thunberg to show off his car collection. Greta destroyed Tate with one quote-tweet. Tate’s immediate reaction was to go Full Karen and tweet “how dare you?!” at Greta. Then it took Tate about nine or ten hours to think up his comeback: a video in which he spoke to camera and targeted hate at Greta. Well, funny thing about that video: he filmed it in his compound in Romania. The same compound where he traffics and abuses women and girls. Romanian authorities were waiting to arrest Tate when he was back in the country, and because of Tate’s video to Greta, they knew he was back. Because of the pizza box – Jerry’s Pizza is a local Romanian pizza franchise. Hours after Tate made his stupid, small-D clapback video to Greta Thunberg, Romanian authorities swarmed Tate’s compound and arrested Andrew Tate and his brother.

Controversial online influencer Andrew Tate has been detained in Romania as part of a human trafficking and rape investigation. Mr Tate – who was detained alongside his brother Tristan – had his house raided in the capital, Bucharest. A lawyer for the brothers confirmed their detention, Reuters said.

The former kickboxer rose to fame in 2016 when he was removed from British TV show Big Brother over a video which appeared to show him attacking a woman. He went on to gain notoriety online, with Twitter banning him for saying women should “bear responsibility” for being sexually assaulted. He has since been reinstated.

“The four suspects … appear to have created an organised crime group with the purpose of recruiting, housing and exploiting women by forcing them to create pornographic content meant to be seen on specialised websites for a cost,” prosecutors said, according to the Reuters news agency. The brothers have been under investigation since April alongside two Romanian nationals.

Romania’s Directorate for Investigating Organized Crime and Terrorism (DIICOT) issued a statement, but did not name the Tate brothers, stating that two British citizens and two Romanian citizens were suspected of being part of a criminal group focused on human trafficking. The statement said officers had identified six people who were “sexually exploited” by what it called an “organised criminal group”. Police said the victims were “recruited” by the British citizens, who they said had misrepresented their intention to enter into a relationship with the victims – which it called “the loverboy method”.

[From BBC]

I hope the Tates go to prison for a very long time. I hope their victims get help and healing. I hope Greta Thunberg continues to exist and thrive to the point where her haters tie themselves in knots and end up defeating themselves. Greta had one more excellent burn left too, which I’m including below.

I am unreasonably delighted at the FAFO of this story and its continued developments. It has made my whole week.

  2. Loretta says:

Greta the queen of the year

  3. Snuffles says:

Here’s to 2023 being the year of fuck around and find out! HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

  4. SAS says:

His face makes me physically ill. I hope they spend decades in prison! It’s sometimes hard to believe in justice these days but I’m hopeful there will be some justice for his atrocities in Romania at least. I truly believe he’s responsible for incalculable offences against women across the globe by incitement.

Greta is hilarious and a truly bright light in this world! I’m clearly feeling very emotional this close to the new year!

  5. FancyPants says:

What disgusting crimes, glad he is facing justice. Greta is a legend!

    • Pabena6 says:

She is amazingly impressive. Look for the episode on YouTube of her appearance on Russell Howard’s Good News — to go from someone who basically was only capable of speaking to 5-6 people she felt comfortable with to being able to converse so openly and easily — and articulately, completely off the cuff — in front of a studio audience and with children, is so remarkable. And Russell’s interviewing brought out a side of her I’ve never seen before — she was just so delightful and giggly. A real feel-good treat!

  6. Amy Bee says:

    Thank God for Greta.

  7. C-Shell says:

In the karmic perfection category — Romanian officials were encouraged in the past year(s) to crack down on human trafficking by the Group of Experts on Action Against Trafficking in Human Beings (GRETA).

These sick bastards are seriously f*cked. I don’t imagine Romanian prisons are anything like Club Fed. I hope all the women who’ve been abused as a result of Tate’s vitriolic misogyny are able to get the help they need. And I hope Greta Thunberg stays safe.

    • Boxy Lady says:

      😮
Sometimes the universe works in amazing ways.

    • Nanea says:

Not too long ago that guy said he had moved to Romania for its lax approach to law enforcement. 🙄😁

No idea whether he said that on the Moron’s Uncensored/Unwatched show, or on KuKluxDan Rotten’s on that awful and equally unwatched GBNews channel.

      Poetic justice either way.

      • Lily says:

What a vile, depraved humanoid. Up until now I knew him as the creepy adult that tried to own Greta on twitter, but rape and human trafficking is beyond anything I could’ve imagined. I hope he goes to jail immediately and rots there until the rest of his life. I hope he only gets guards that refuse to understand even a single word in English.

And as a side note, I’m from the same part of Europe and it has become somewhat of a regular occurrence that some of the worst people from the western European countries would waltz in, gleefully expecting absolutely no legal repercussions for their behaviour, even if they commit crimes. You’re not above the law in a country just because look down on the people who live there. Couldn’t have happened to a more deserving piece of garbage

Urgh, I’m glad he’s arrested, but the fact that such a person exists upsets me.

      • aquarius64 says:

I bet Morgan and Wooten are running from him now.

    • Snarkle says:

Wait, is the acronym for that group really GRETA??? Holy karmaballs

also, her last tweet was perfection

    • SussexWatcher says:

C-shell, 💯! It was a beautiful karmic play in 4 acts. And the GRETA org was like the chef’s kiss to it all.

Greta’s latest tweet about recycling was also hilarious.

It’s also interesting that Duchess Meghan’s karma protection is so strong. This monster was also invited onto Piss Morgan’s and Trash Wootton’s shows to bash Meghan after the documentary (those misogynists gotta stick together I guess) and now he too gets karmic justice! The number of Meghan haters that subsequently get sick, lose money, and (now) go to jail is long. And I love that for all of them!

      • BeanieBean says:

I love that the Guardian used Greta’s tweet in their coverage. That young woman is brilliant! This guy & his set-up is terrifying; so very glad his hubris brought his downfall.

    • Solstice0 says:

Sadly, our prisons aren’t that bad at all… he deserves way worse

  8. Eurydice says:

    This is priceless!

  9. Janey says:

I am gleeful at this news. couldn’t happen to a nicer arsehole.

  10. Twin Falls says:

A friend couldn’t understand how he could be so bold and dumb as to know he was trafficking/raping women and publicly go after Greta like that. And I was like really? Those two things absolutely go together. Misogyny is no joke.

    • Nic919 says:

Hubris is always a factor with criminals and he has gotten away with it so far so he was too arrogant to think that disclosing he was in Romania would come back to haunt him.

Also it seems that his brother had an ex cop girlfriend from the local police force and she had inside scoops about planned raids. She was arrested yesterday as well. This would explain why he felt confident in being able to avoid arrest up until now.

    • Emily_C says:

Misogynists are stupid. Just like racists are stupid, fascists are stupid, etc. Otherwise they would not be those things.

    • Fabiola says:

He must feel so stupid. His small dick energy got him sent to prison. I hope he gets a taste of the horrible abuse he put those woman through in jail. Rot in hell ass.

      • BeanieBean says:

But he won’t see it that way, that it was his stupid fault. It’ll be Greta’s fault, or his brother’s, or that brother’s girlfriend, anyone but himself.

  11. Carol Hill says:

Greta is a true Super Hero!

  12. Lili says:

This actually quite shocking that he does this in this day and age, and thought he could get away with it . I hope there are no loop holes he can get through.

  13. CooCoo Catchoo says:

    Karma. Sweet, sweet karma.

  14. Lucy says:

Greta taking out the trash – love to see it!

  15. Lolo86lf says:

I don’t understand why the police didn’t know where he was at any time. It took a picture with a pizza box in it to find his whereabouts!

    • Zazzoo says:

As I recall from traveling in the EU, if you enter a country by land there isn’t necessarily a passport check. His last verifiable location might be his port of entry into the EU.

      • Lily says:

Yep, no checks whatsoever, you just pass a sign saying this and that country and that’s it. Certainly if you take the small, toll-free roads.

      • A says:

Romania isn’t a part of that agreement yet. There are no doubt very easy ways to get into Romania without going through an official border or doing so legally though.

      • Lily says:

Eh? My family and I travelled from Bulgaria through Romania and into Hungary 9 years ago, by car, and there were no passport/id checks or anything like that. We did go for the toll-free roads, though, maybe that’s why.

    • SussexWatcher says:

The authorities might have known he was in the country but I read that he had several residences there. So I interpreted this whole thing as the police got his exact pizza delivery address from the pizza shop and that’s how they were able to find him.

    • IShouldBeWorking says:

I read something somewhere (I think it was on Reddit) that they knew where he was but they needed probable cause to search the property for him. The post with the pizza box gave it to them.

      • CooCoo Catchoo says:

LOL! For such a fabulously rich, successful, astute man (as, I’m certain, he believes himself to be), he sure is sloppy and DUMB. He and his brother have everything that’s coming to them.

    • Emily_C says:

I saw people on Mastodon saying the Romanian authorities have known where he was all this time, but they’re corrupt and let him bribe them. But then this happened, and the pressure became too great, so they had to arrest him. I have no idea if that’s true, but I think it’s certainly possible.

      • Nic919 says:

There was a woman arrested who is girlfriend of Tate’s brother and she was a former police officer in Bucharest (or a regional force). It was suspected that she was able to get information from planned raids prior to now.

      • The Tates are Ghouls! says:

That is EXACTLY what happened! Tate broke the First Rule of Romanian Corrupt Cop Fight Club!

  16. Zazzoo says:

Greta’s existence is a gift. She was just doing her thing and an “alpha male” dirtbag absolutely imploded. I’m so inspired to learn a lesson here about staying calm and letting the fools bring themselves down.

  17. Feebee says:

I don’t know what he was thinking deciding to have a go at Greta for no particular reason. In hindsight I’m glad he did. Greta owns him while Romanian authorities have physical custody. Long may it continue.

I understand they found several women detained at his compound. Greta did them a solid without even knowing.

    • Truthiness says:

Elon had let Tate out of twitter jail a month ago. I only know him as a misogynist streamer who runs a MLM to give other guys his ‘alpha male’ strats for success. He thinks he’s quite the debater, my son hates him. Women shouldn’t drive or vote and he extols the virtues of dating teens rather than women. I think he was attracted to Greta’s youthfulness (she can pass for much younger), wanted a PR stunt as usual, and was emboldened by getting his twitter back. He has money so he may get a good lawyer.

  18. CC says:

After years of people like Tate displaying gleeful and public criminality without consequence, it’s almost surreal to see this whole situation (and to quote Benoit Blanc, “it’s so much stupider than [anything you could imagine]). Reading about this last night, I did think, “Are we really all in a simulation? Is the world about to end?”
I hope his victims receive justice.

  19. ChillinginDC says:

    Wow.

    • Denise says:

Ladies, I am genuinely scared. I don’t find this funny or amusing. Seeing the amount of support that Tate gets… If he’s gone, they’ll just be others to replace him. His vile rhethoric is getting more and more support every day.

      I feel genuinely unsafe.

Are we in the dark ages now?

      • Lucy says:

It’s always been the dark ages if you’re not a white cis-het man. I, for one, am going to bask in the glee of this asshole being dragged into the light of day on this good morning.

      • Emily_C says:

Feeling unsafe is what the “people” like Tate want. You’ll be fine.

      • ChillinginDC says:

Agreed. Reading what he and his “associates” were doing was chilling.

      • The Tates are Ghouls! says:

Wait, you *haven’t* been carrying your keys in your hand when you walk to your car every day???

        We’re NOT safe.

      • Duo says:

Andrew Tate’s platform and toxic beliefs are nothing new. 10-15 years prior to him, there were others in this space riling up incels and disgruntled middle-aged divorcees. He was able to become a much bigger name than the likes of Roosh V and Chateau Heartiste because their followings were limited to blogs and a handful of forums, whereas Tate was able to maximize his reach on various social platforms. The so-called manosphere and red pill spaces are not going anywhere any time soon; Tate was always going to be replaced by someone else, arrest or no arrest.

Do we need to be concerned about digital extremism targeting young men? Absolutely. But we must push back and continue supporting young women like Greta Thunberg and Olivia Julianna who aren’t afraid to fight back.

      • Emily_C says:

Gonna drive on a freeway with those keys?

Please look up who actually ends up victims of human trafficking. Also statistics on how likely it is to be attacked by a stranger. And then look up Dessa’s song “Fire Drills.”

  20. AnnaKist says:

I hope the Romanian police taunt him with Greta‘s last tweet! This guy is more sickening than bin juice. I hope Justice prevails and he ends up in the clink for many many years. As for Greta, she is so young and yet, a beacon of light and hope, What a star! ⭐️

  21. Amy T says:

A climate change advocate on multiple levels! #TeamThunberg

  22. Twinkle says:

Greta has real BDE! Go, Greta!

  23. KC says:

This is a great story to end the year on! I mean vicious bully picks on industrious, minding-her-business child. She owns him with one statement and he can’t handle it and creates a video providing just the information needed to be arrested for a slew of hate-filled abuse on women. What a feel-good story!

Unless it’s a REAL apology or statement of support from someone in the BRF to Meghan the world needs to just pause on this note and let’s end 2022 riding this #thunbergvstateenergy all the way into 2023!

  24. Harla A Brazen Hussy says:

I’m loving this journey (to jail) for him!

  25. girl_ninja says:

Tate is an evil, arrogant person and I am grateful that his ego got him arrested. His hatred for women got him arrested and may he pay with his life for what he has done to the many women who have crossed his path.

  26. Brassy Rebel says:

This creep. I just hope the Romanian authorities can make a case against him that sticks.

And I never would have dreamed that there was a pizzeria in Romania called “Jerry’s Pizza”! Do they also have a “Mike’s Car Wash”?

    I love Greta’s sense of humor. 🤣

  27. Petra (Brazen Archetyped Phenomenal Woman) says:

Wow! I admire Greta Thurberg…her take was chef kiss.

Here is to the abused victims getting justice for the crimes committed against them.

Andrew Tate FAFO “bigly” (to use the slang of his sh**theads.)

  28. Julesser says:

Who would have thought that a person who preaches that women should stop playing the victim and start taking responsibility for abuse might not actually be a good person? That they’re not actually challenging, wise, rational grown-up voices offering a necessary and balanced alternative to snowflake, hyper-modern empathy for women?

This is what someone actually being held accountable looks like. Not victim-blaming. May this pos never make it out of that jail cell.

  29. Betsy says:

This was one of the endings that was so perfect I doubted its reality for a bit. I hope he stays in jail and then prison for a long time.

  30. LooseSeal says:

Nothing proves out your small d*ck energy like getting yourself arrested for human trafficking because you couldn’t stop online bullying a teenager.

  31. Nina says:

While I am thrilled that this POS has been arrested, a very small part of me is like ‘uuuuuuuuuugh, Elon is going to take this as validation of his free-speech absolutism’. He is going to look at this edge case and think to himself: ‘II hadn’t reinstated him, then he wouldn’t have outted himself and he wouldn’t have been arrested’ without looking at the 99.9% harm such reinstatements cause.

It should be noted though: Greta continues to be awesome 🙌

    • The Tates are Ghouls! says:

Elon turns everything about him anyways. The man allegedly had more money than anyone in this world, and that still couldn’t save him from himself. Talk about a Glass Onion, indeed.

  32. hangonamin says:

the tweet where she said this is what happens when you don’t recycle your pizza boxes….was just ::chef’s kiss:: amazing. She’s on fire!

  33. Sean says:

This whole ordeal has been amazing to watch unfold and all under 48 hours too!

To think this middle-aged man’s ego is soo fragile he let a 19 year old’s tweet get under his skin to the point he completely nuked his own personal freedom.

If he had just not responded to Greta’s “small dick energy” retort, the internet would have laughed about it for a few days and then collectively forgotten about it. Everyone would have gone on with their business. Maybe it gets brought up again 10 years from now in a Buzzfeed “remember when” article.

But no, he couldn’t handle a woman he’d never met before clapping back at him on social media. Greta’s response was 9 words. 9 WORDS! And Andrew was so bothered by those 9 words he allowed himself to be completely undone. And because he couldn’t let that slide, he’s now most likely going to spend years in prison.

    Oh, the hubris.

What’s even more hilarious (to me at least) is that if you look at Greta’s Twitter feed since this exchange, she’s returned to posting and retweeting climate crisis-related content. No mention of Andrew whatsoever. He’s an afterthought to her.

    Amazing.

  34. MerlinsMom1018 says:

    Dear Greta:
Thank you for being karma’s right hand and the “find out” part of FAFO
    I bow down to you

*I didn’t know who this slug was so I did a deep dive and now I need to bleach my brain. I hope that he finds himself somebody’s bitch in prison*
Also he is so very very nasty looking. Ewwww

I said what I said. Not sorry.

  35. Mabs A'Mabbin says:

    She’s my new hero.

  36. Julia K says:

Just when I was seriously doubting the existence of Karma, this drops right into my lap. Thank you Greta

  37. square_bologna says:

Greta Thunberg for Emperor. That’s it.

  38. Mslove says:

This lovely karma swirling around this POS is a work of art, truly.

  39. Nikki says:

I thought “How DARE you?!” was the lamest, most hilarious response to prove he has SDE without a doubt. Hail to Greta, who’s beyond awesome.

    • Julia K says:

His “his dare you” reply has , up until now, only been uttered by people named Karen.

    • Sean says:

I still can’t get over the inclusion of the question mark.

He obviously meant it as a condemnation of her “nerve” to speak back to him.

Instead it sounds like he’s inquiring if she dares lol.

    • Kate’s Jeggings says:

Guys, “how dare you?” is from her famous U.N. speech, lol. It’s still a dumb response, but he’s mocking her words, not Karen’ing.

  40. Jaded says:

When (not if) he’s sentenced and gets hauled off to the clink he’s gonna have to have eyes in the back of his head. Most male prisoners don’t take kindly to men who rape and abuse women. Tate’s about to find out that what goes around comes around.

Greta, you are a gift from the universe.

    • Not really says:

It’s more that they don’t take kindly to those who rape and abuse children, not so much women

      • Jaded says:

Oh I totally agree. Inmates who’ve abused children are certainly at the top of the list for “prison justice”, but in general rapists are often told to lie about why they’re in jail. They’d certainly be ostracized at the very least, and at the very worst beaten or stabbed. Many prisons keep these guys away from the general prison population (unless a guard decides to turn a blind eye).

  41. trillion says:

What a fantastic way to send out 2022!!!! Thank you, again and again and again, Greta. (She was probably doing 4 things at the same time while tweeting that awesome line).

  42. Aeren says:

Nothing add except that I’m an even bigger fan of Greta’s now.

  43. Liz Version 700k says:

I am 50 years old and want to be Greta when I grow up. I salute her and I love everything Katma has coming for Tate! How dare you hahahahahahaha

  44. Slippers4life says:

This could literally be made into a super hero movie! They should just add Greta to the Marvel universe as herself!

  45. The Voice says:

I started seeing Andrew Tate’s name around and didn’t know his deal. I just heard words like misogynist and opportunist which told me everything I needed to know. Then this Twitter beef with Greta (he’s too dumb to know she’d end him) and he’s arrested for human trafficking?! These poor women who were snared by him – I immediately thought of the Tinder Swindler. He must’ve love bombed them and gotten them to fly out to see him. I hate that young women are falling for this. They’re seeking validation from external sources and then ones handing it out are scum like him.

  46. Lissen says:

    Greta is a delight.

  47. SenseOfTheAbsurd says:

This may be the most satisfying incident of 2022. Just delightful in every way.

  48. Twinkle says:

2022 is ending on a high note!

  49. Isabella says:

    Why all the weapons? Wow.

  50. Deering24 says:

Bwahahaha! One couldn’t write fiction like this and have anyone believe it. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

  51. Melissa says:

The Jerry’s Pizza chain released an image on their Twitter with their pizza box and “we got taste” with the S whited out! I was screaming!

  52. Stella says:

Greta is a Queen! So happy this jerk has been arrested. I hope he rots and never gets to abuse women again.

  53. ShoppeGirlMN says:

Cheers to 2023! Let it be the year of karma for all the small d*cks, their brothers, sons, son in laws, and Royal adjacents!

  54. Juul says:

Go Greta! And I really hope Romanian authorities make an example out of him, especially for his arrogant comments that Romanian police are less likely to investigate rape and human trafficking than police wherever he is from. He and guys similar to him need a reality check.

    • Saucy&Sassy says:

Juul, I read that the authorities are holding him for 30 days while they continue their investigation. I doubt he’s getting out of this.

      Greta is amazing!!!!

  55. Likeyoucare says:

This is an organise hate hit on meghan and someone is the mastermind.
Hear me out. 1st musk give him his account back.

Then, Morgan and Wooton give interview with him. They must paid him and give him accommodation and flights to UK and back. Who is paying?

Lastly, attack the most vunarable person in the docu #livetoleadnetflix. They had try jacinda but to no avail. So they choose greta. Thinking she the weakest link.

    • Interested Gawker says:

      “Who is paying?”

      This!
      This this this!

When will someone follow the money???!!!

    • Anna says:

This is no surprise… the attacks are intensified and they try to use international “journalists” and influencers and try to not look obvious, but it looks like they want to discredit everyone related or working with Meghan. This really is disgusting and will hopefully backfire big time
