Queen Camilla will hold onto her home Ray Mill so she can be a slob in peace

Stupidly, I hate-enjoy the Eden Confidential column in the Daily Mail. The column is always full of the exploits of a who’s who of social x-rays, British horse people and royal-adjacents. It’s like a window into another world. So, the column reports that Queen Camilla’s old roommate was included on this year’s honours list. The woman is named Virginia Carington and there’s no absolutely zero mention of what Carington did to merit a special honor from Camilla’s husband. In fact, it looks like Carington might have been given an honor for keeping her mouth shut all of these years about what Camilla is really like.

The Queen Consort asked King Charles to approve an honour for her former flatmate, Virginia Carington — even though the old friend once described Camilla as a ‘total slob’. Camilla Shand was a fun-loving 17-year-old when she and Virginia, daughter of late Foreign Secretary Lord Carrington, rented a two-bedroom flat in Belgravia together.

Virginia’s observation is recalled by author Jessica Jayne in her book The Duchess Of Cornwall: Camilla’s Story And Secrets. ‘On coming home, she would just drop her clothes on the floor and leave them,’ writes Jayne. ‘Camilla’s bedroom always looked like a bomb had hit it.’

In his first New Year’s Honours list, the King approved the award of CVO to Virginia, whose brother Rupert is now Lord Great Chamberlain.

Around 1965, Camilla and Virginia rented a flat on London’s exclusive Edbury Street, following the Queen Consort’s etiquette studies at the Mon Fertile finishing school near Geneva.

Writer Gyles Brandreth also described the scene: ‘Virginia was fairly tidy and organised and Camilla drove her nuts, in the nicest possible way. Virginia once told me: “You know, Camilla has this inability to hang anything up on a hanger. And she has an aversion to cleaning fluids of any description. You should see the state of the bathroom when she’s been in it”.’

[From The Daily Mail]

We’ve actually heard this from other people, and we’ve heard a lot worse. Camilla is messy, Camilla doesn’t pick up after herself, Camilla doesn’t bathe, Camilla stinks, Camilla is an alcoholic wreck. We still don’t know exactly what Carlington did either – why is she getting an honor? For being related to the new Lord Great Chamberlain?

Interestingly, there was also a recent story about Camilla’s private home, Ray Mill, and how she’s keeping it even though she’s now queen and she has tons of other properties at her disposal. One of the reasons why she’s keeping Ray Mill? She can be messy and not pick up after herself.

Friends say the Ray Mill mansion in Lacock, Wiltshire, is Camilla’s “guilty pleasure” and boasts an outdoor swimming pool, stables and a river. She lived there from 1996 – 2003, and despite now having many royal manors and palaces at her disposal friends say it’s where she likes to retreat to the most.

A source told Daily Express: “At Ray Mill, she can sit down with a big G&T, kick off her shoes and watch Coronation Street, which Charles loathes. She also doesn’t have to bother about how the place looks – Charles is so fussy about tidiness, while she leaves her stuff all over the place. She doesn’t need her cushions plumped all the time.”

[From The Sun]

I mean, I’m not the tidiest person either and in general, I think it’s fine that Camilla has her own place where she can be her true slob-self. But one does get a certain image of the physical and psychological chaos Camilla leaves in her wake.

Well, Cam isn’t just a slob privately is she? She’s shown to be quite a messy b in public too. Gross.

    • mv says:

Shocking News Flash (said noone ever)……Camilla is messy, both literally and figuratively.

    • Elizabeth Regina says:

Unfortunately she doesn’t just keep her mess to herself. She’s done untold psychological and emotional damage to those around her and by her recent actions still continue to do so. A very narcissistic woman.

  2. BUBS says:

    Camilla doesn’t bathe?😳

    • MsIam says:

That’s what I’ve read, that people around her wonder if she’s wearing clean underwear. I mean yuck! She always looks dusty and musty to me.

    • Cessily says:

She always looks unkept and smelly to me. It often looks like she rewears her unwashed clothes and like she has reapplied makeup over her unwashed face that had makeup still on it from the day before.

      • Brassy Rebel says:

I am so sorry I ever started reading these comments. I just had breakfast. 🤢

I do hate dusting and 🧹. But I do put things away, and I shower every day and put on clean clothes. It’s inexcusable for someone in her position to have such disgusting hygiene.

      • 2tall4u2 says:

Gives new disgust to King Tampon…

      • Tootsie says:

I highly suggest reading the book Watching the English. It’s written by an English anthropologist who grew up in the States, moved to France, and now lives in the UK again. I think the whole “new make up applied on old makeup” and general unkempt vibes is an upper class thing that Camilla is flexing. It’s baffling some of the things they do just to present as upper class. Mismatched and careless (because they are so confident in their social position) is what they’re going for. That is her aristo scent that you’re smelling.

      • Deering24 says:

One of the less-elegant Versailles facts is that many palace corners were openly used as toilets. 🤮🤮🤮

    • karkopolo says:

Yknow, I have no reason to think she’s a person who smells bad, but I always have. Is it because she looks like a smoker? Is she a smoker? Idk, I know plenty of smokers who are extremely conscious of the smell, so that’s not even fair. I think she just strikes me as gross in every way. I just *know* if I stood near her, she’d reek.

    • SussexFan says:

I read one article/chapter describing her–waaay back–that said that she didn’t care about who/what/where/how/why she was currently effing. The gross part was when the source said that one had to be prepared for what else might be in her panties. God…I was so grossed out I couldn’t go back to reading the thing until much later. Ugh!

Also, Charles is/was attracted to gross smells on this woman and wearing gross men’s cologne. Someone observed that the kinds of cologne Charles seemed to like reminded him of animal (horse) or human sweat or BM stink or funk, rather than clean woods and scents. So they belong to each other. Someone here said that she felt that Camilla was Charles’ dominatrix? That’s part of the tools they use. Foulness. So they really belong to each other. Really, they do.

  3. usavgjoe says:

Boy, I sure do miss Princess Diana.

    • Fani says:

I hadn’t realized that, technically, Camilla was old enough to be Diana’s mother.

Must be strange when a woman 14 years older than you is trying to time-share your husband.

      • Isabella says:

14 years is not really old enough to be her mom, in normal circumstances, but I get your point. I have a sister who’s that much younger and we were raised entirely differently. She was just a kid when I left home. It’s almost like having a step-sister. It would be so icky if we’d shared a lover.

      • EAC says:

My great grandmother had a child at 14, married at 13 so it is technically possible. I can’t imagine having a child at 14 but, my great grandmother was a wonderful pioneer woman and could do it all. Regarding Camilla, ever since I heard of her and saw her photo, I shook my head in wonder over what Charles saw in her. It speaks to his very low self esteem and wanting to be with someone that made him look good and feel good about himself. Diana outshined him in every way possible.

    • Anonymous says:

Don’t we all miss Princess Diana!

I have no time for Camilla and think she seems kind of awful if I do give 2 seconds of thought to her. It also sounds like she might need to step up her personal hygiene and drink less big G&Ts. However, keeping Ray Mill is the one thing I won’t fault her for because I think it’s smart for women to keep their own place and also for everyone to have their own sanctuary where they can just be themselves. I also think some people are messy for reasons like having ADD, etc., and if that is the case with her and she can afford to have a place where no one is criticizing her mess and maybe has some professional help to manage it too, it probably is a relief and I don’t fault her if that’s the case either. (I’m not saying it is, but I’ve known a lot of people in that situation and it really helps them and their families if they are allowed their own messy zone.). I can imagine Charles could be a real pain if he is a neat freak.

  4. equality says:

Charles may be fussy about tidiness but he doesn’t clean up after himself either. He couldn’t even move an inkwell out of his own way. She is keeping Ray Mill because, if she outllives Charles, PW will kick her out of royal housing.

    • Tessa says:

Stephen Barry wrote of his years as valet to then Prince Charles. Barry had to set the bath towels Just So, so they would be ready when Charles got out of his bath, and arrange Charles garments for him to dress, in the proper order.

      • Brassy Rebel says:

At least, Charles bathes. It sounds like Camilla’s lady’s maid has very little to do most of the time.

      • susan says:

this is the same guy who squeezed out the royal toothpaste and ironed the royal shoelaces, innit?

      • harpervalleypta says:

One former butler/basket told the story about how Charles dropped a paper in the waste basket next to his chair, and then called him, asking him to come get it out of the trash can, because of course it was far more reasonable for a man to come down the hallway than it is to reach down and grab it yourself.

    • Snuffles says:

💯 William wouldn’t hesitate to drop the hammer on her and her children.

      • Tessa says:

I read somewhere that William and Laura Parker Bowles Lopes do not get along.

      • Fani says:

I’m so petty I won’t buy the Fortnum and Madon cookbook because her son’s name is on the cover.

That woman placed her children well.

    • Isabella says:

This seems typical of people who’ve grown up rich. JFK Jr. was also reportedly sloppy: “Camilla has this inability to hang anything up on a hanger. And she has an aversion to cleaning fluids of any description.”

Did Camilla go to boarding school?

      • Becks1 says:

Yeah, it says in the post that she lived with this roommate after finishing school in Switzerland.

    • Murphy says:

You’re right about that, I bet Camilla prays every day she goes first b/c the transition after Charles will be 100x worse than this one was. Scorched earth. Everyone but the Tindalls better look out.

      • BothSidesNow says:

Yup! Though I wouldn’t worry as I am certain that Charles will be extremely generous to Camilla in his will. Though I could see Baldemort taking every opportunity to denounce the will if Charles is too generous.

    • The Recluse says:

      She’s just nasty, ain’t she?
      Nasty all around.
She IS going to need that house because William is going to yank everything out from under her as soon as Chuckie is gone.
Also, that’s taxpayer dollars paying for her security while she luxuriates in her sloppy, splendid isolation.

    • Sue E Generis says:

This is so confusing. If Charles is so meticulous and clean, isn’t he repulsed by the way Camilla looks and smells?

  5. C says:

The most literal version of Goblin Mode I have ever seen.

  6. Tessa says:

I wouldn’t worry about the appearance of Raymill. Camilla has a full staff who keep the place tidy and she has butlers, maids, and cooks. I wonder if Charles will give some awards to Camilla’s children next. And her sister, who he hired as a decorator.

    • Mary Pester says:

Tessa he has already set up trust funds for them with millions of pounds in them, so nothing would surprise me. But the thought of the pillow talk where she is getting Charlie chinless to do it makes me 🤢🤢

      • Lorelei says:

So you’re telling me that KFC has enough £ to set up enormous trust funds for CAMILLA’S family members, yet, somehow, didn’t have any when Meghan came along, so he suggested that she keep working because he “couldn’t afford her?” He also couldn’t rustle up the funds for his own son’s security, when that son had an infant, no less?

I sincerely did not think it was possible that I’d learn something that could make me dislike Chuck more, but I’ve been proven wrong!

  7. Tessa says:

Kate and Camilla are alike, they know where the cameras are and focus on them.

  8. TIFFANY says:

Why would she give up a property that is in her name. She literally got back with Chuckles so he can continue paying for it because she was broke and stupidly used her divorce settlement to buy this thinking she was always gonna be comfortable.

    • Tessa says:

I don’t think she broke up with Charles and never had to get back with him.. She was not going to leave the scene plus Charles Named Her as mistress on TV and forced the PB divorce so he became obligated. Charles also had been buying her expensive bling which she could sell if worse came to worse.

  9. AnneL says:

I can relate to the messy part. My side of the closet always has clothes all over the floor. When I was in grad school I shared an apartment but had my own bedroom. There was always a pile of stuff on either the chair or the bed. My husband and I started dating then, and he noted it. Can’t say he wasn’t warned.

That said, there is a difference between messiness and uncleanliness? Not cleaning the bathroom when you’ve used it is not OK. It’s gross. And also, keep your mess to yourself. I shared a bedroom for years in boarding school and college and I didn’t leave it messy then. That’s inconsiderate.

So I get why she wants her own space. But it also sounds like she just doesn’t care about the fallout of her habits? That sounds like Camilla. She’s literally a home wrecker.

    • Tacky says:

I am a total slob because I have ADHD and getting through the day takes all of my energy. I just don’t have enough leftover to be tidy.

      • AnneL says:

I have it too. It went undiagnosed until adulthood, because I was a very good student for the most part. But I could not hold it together completely. Still can’t. Hence the messiness. I have to choose my battles.

    • Brassy Rebel says:

I agree, Annel, there is a difference between messiness and uncleanliness. Sounds like Camilla is both messy and personally dirty.

  10. B says:

These stories about her poor hygiene really explain her “appearance”.

Let’s not bury the lead or obfuscate the truth. She keeps Ray Mill because she knows as soon as Willy is King she’s out. She doesn’t have a royal son. Her only link to that family is Charles. Spare explained that she traded stories about both brothers. Willy won’t want her around and she’ll be out before Chuckie’s body is cold.

Willy’s uncle Charles Spencer threw out his step mother Rain Spencer the day his father died. Wouldn’t even let her pack. Just tossed her out and then later put her stuff in trash bags on the lawn for her to collect. I bet petty vengeful Willy is waiting for the day he can pay Camilla back and you know Camilla knows it too.

    • Tessa says:

Will seems to be playing up to Camilla now. And he called his mother paranoid and wanted the Bashir tapes censored. Kate and Camilla are buddy buddy and there is that clip on Twitter where Camilla makes fun of Meghan holding her stomach, and Kate finds it “amusing.” If William talked about his own mother like that after she died, he could sell out Camilla too. I think Camilla and Charles do not spend all their time under the same roof to put it mildly.

      • B says:

A temporary alliance against the Sussexes. The typical my enemy’s enemy is my friend type of situation. They are already back to throwing each other under the bus.

Susan Hussey is a perfect example. She was hired by Charles and worked for Camilla and got in trouble at an event Camilla was hosting. 24hrs later she was known as William’s godmother. William was headed for a “tour” in Boston and tries to save himself by releasing a statement disavowing her. It still taints the “tour”. These are not things that Willy boy is going to forget about.

Camilla and Chuck definitely aren’t the love match everyone has been claiming but he protects her. They have both worked to make sure she’ll be comfortable once he’s gone. Inheritance for her kids have been set up and she may have bought Ray Mill but he paid it off. Lol she’s not moving so much as hair brush into any of the crown properties.

    • A says:

She’d be dumb regardless of how well she gets on with her husband’s kids to give up property. Anyone would be. Protect your necks, ladies!

But surely they must have already drawn up a will and shifted around assets into whatever tax-dodging schemes a king might need to take care of his wife if he dies first. That would be item number one, point A on the agenda for me if I was going to marry that man.

    • Cessily says:

I highly doubt she will outlive Charles, I believe she was (possibly still is Idk) a heavy smoker and drinker that usually doesn’t lead to a long life expectancy, I’m actually surprised she is still around now. She and Charles were always adulterers and people rarely change who they are even when they get older, maybe she keeps the house because it’s where she meets her side piece.. Charles probably has his own side chick like his father did. In my opinion, I see them as loyal to each other for mutual benefit but that does not mean that they are faithful to each other.

      • QuiteContrary says:

The queen mother lived to be 101 — her organs must have been pickled by all the booze she drank.

When you don’t care about other people — when you’re not kept awake by the tragedies other people face — I think it’s easier to live longer. Dick Cheney will probably live until he’s 101, too.

That top photo of Camilla recalls the old saying: mutton dressed up as lamb.

    • Dot Gingell says:

Diana and her siblings nicknamed their social-climbing stepmother ‘Acid Raine’. Selling off some of Althorp’s treasures infuriated them so it’s no wonder her feet didn’t touch the ground when Charles inherited and threw her out.

      • MaryContrary says:

Have you seen any of the videos that the new Countess Karen Spencer is making about Althorp? Just fascinating.

  11. Jay says:

I mean, why would you ever get rid of a property in your own name? She may have access to all of those palaces now, but once William takes over she’d be out. She’d have to compete with the Middleton clan to stay in the other brother’s good graces.

  12. Mabs A'Mabbin says:

I think I can smell the alcohol emanating from her pores across the great pond.

  13. CindyLooWho says:

“following the Queen Consort’s etiquette studies at the Mon Fertile finishing school near Geneva.”

What the hell is this?????!!!!! The “I’m Fertile Finishing School” that Camilla attended a YEAR after I was born?? Thank God I was born when I was. I cannot even with this ish!

    • BeanieBean says:

Hate to burst your bubble, but Lady Diana went to finishing school as well. Weird, but it’s a thing.

    • booboocita says:

Wouldn’t “mon fertile” be “my fertile?” My fertile what, I wonder?

  14. Becks1 says:

I’m messy and my husband is too and I wish ONE of us were more of a neat freak, bc I think it would motivate the other. Like if I organize my side of the closet, he will organize his. We do keep the main part of our house pretty clean and our kitchen and bathrooms clean and I feel like that’s the extent of my abilities, lol.

As for camilla keeping Ray Mill – of course she is. That’s her post-Charles insurance policy.
I wonder what kind of money she’ll get after he dies (if she outlives him, which is not definite obviously.) The QM got some type of stipend but that was under the civil list so maybe worked differently, IDK. And her daughter had to pay her debts constantly I think.

    • Green girl says:

I have wondered what Camilla would get in an inheritance. I thought she wasn’t flush with cash when she got married to Charles. Has she been able to save any money in that time?

  15. HeyKay says:

CamZilla truly pisses me off, has for years, ever since Diana spoke out about how awful KingTampon and CamZilla mistreated her. I have not forgotten, and many of us Dianas age will not either.

CamZilla should stay in her home, behind a locked door until the end of time. Nasty witch.
She is not a good person, if she never stepped in public again, no one would be missing anything.

  16. MaryContrary says:

This is the vibe I always get off of Sarah Ferguson too.

    • Tessa says:

Fergie enables Andrew’s horrid behavior. and was all over the place defending him.

    • HeyKay says:

Some good comments here. I had not thought of it but I bet you are correct, the minute after KingTampon leaves this mortal world, William will have CamZilla frog marched OUT of everything.

I hope he does! Get Out and Stay Away from all of us, you CowZilla.
      These people are all nasty.

      • Lorelei says:

When this happens (which I also believe it will), I might actually like William for one day. That will be so satisfying for him, to FINALLY kick Cammy to the curb. I hope he isn’t even as kind as Earl Spencer was, and doesn’t bother putting her belongings in trash bags. She has another home full of stuff, she’ll be fine.

  17. BayTampaBay says:

Virginia Carington was married to Camilla’s uncle, Henry Cubitt, the 4th Baron Ashcombe and she wrote a book on Margaret Thatcher.

    Dirty Old Bitch

  19. Jaded says:

I’m somewhat of a neat freak and should have had one of those organizing your home shows on TV because I’m REALLY good at it. When I moved in with Mr. Jaded in 2016, well let’s just say organization wasn’t his thing, and apparently his ex-wife couldn’t organize a sock drawer. There were closets and drawers and cupboards with stuff all mixed up and thrown into giant tupperware tubs with no logic or reason. I soon fixed that and got him over to my side. Now there’s no “where are the extension cords?” or “Can’t find lightbulbs” etc. And I made him shred a couple of hundred lbs of useless paper that he’d hoarded for decades. All that to say I could never live with a slob, it would make me anxious.

    • AnneL says:

Want to come over and help me out?! LOL.

Seriously, I am not that messy. I have a clean kitchen and bathrooms, always. I am able to organize, I just have a lot of trouble STAYING organized. I tend to collect things. I’ll periodically purge, donate and sell, but I can’t stop the collecting urge entirely.

      I

  20. Charlotte says:

Having just mucked out my late alcoholic mother’s apartment, where she lived in a level of filth, surrounded by the fancy remnants of a horsey, once-wealthy family, all I can say is UGH.
I assume someone sends in an actual cleaner after Camilla, but let me tell you, the smell of an elderly, unwashed, alcoholic smoker is something you can never quite clean.

    • BeanieBean says:

I remember a friend of mine talking about having to clean out & prep for sale the home of her recently deceased father. Decades-worth of cigarette smoke stained every inch of that place.

  21. Tarzana says:

I’m sorry but this is just absolutely disgusting to me on so many levels. Other than maybe carnal gratification, what does Chas see in Cam that made her so utterly desirable? Was it that she never required him to be present as a partner? Or she listened to him go on and on about mundane things without yawning (in his face)? Was it her positive outlook on (loafing) life? She doesn’t appear to be the most empathetic, I mean from what I’ve read the two of them contrived a plot to gaslight a teenager for heaven’s sakes, so what gives?

    • Kara says:

I think it’s the listening to him go on and on without yawning part of that. She’s willing to listen to him, and she knows how to pump up his ego. Their leaked phone conversation is full of her flattering him, and him complimenting her on how well she manages to flatter him.

Other than that, I don’t get it. It’s always noted that she liked the same “country pursuits” as Charles, but it sounds like both just liked fox hunting (gross). She doesn’t seem interested in cultural things, like art, classical music, or opera, and she’s no more educated than Diana was. And she’s notoriously lazy and loathes work, which, after reading what Harry said about his father in Spare, is something I would think would drive Charles batty.

Maybe it really is just as easy as that she flatters him, handles the press for him, and takes care of his emotional needs. In return, all she needs is the power and money she gets from being around him, which makes the relationship easy for him since those are things he just has by dint of birth.

      • Sue E Generis says:

Spot on. Charles is a weak, broken human. That’s why he can’t handle a woman who needs anything from him. Camilla is very transactional. She doesn’t really care about him, she only cares bout her own comfort. In exchange, she’s willing to put up with his constant whining and need for ego stroking. When he’s not around, I’m sure she doesn’t even think of him. Perfect for both.

      • Saucy&Sassy says:

I agree that she schemed her way into marriage with KFC. The first time I read that she actually wanted to be Queen was the articcle that her ex-brother-in-law wrote about her. I had to think about that, but once I read Spare and Harry’s description of her PR campaign it all fell into place. Wails and Escort have a lot more in common than we thought. Each of them got exactly what they wanted.

Fails will definitely boot her out on her A!! when KFC dies. She’ll be lucky to get to pack up before she goes.

  22. Amy Bee says:

There was a story after the Queen died that said Camilla is keeping Ray Mill because she fears being booted out of Royal properties by William if Charles dies before her. I tend to believe that plus, I think she prefers to have time away from smothering Charles.

    • Julia K says:

A very real fear. Wm will never provide for her despite what Charles has said in his will, a will that will never see the light of day and Wm can follow it or not. Who will know? Wm will be king; what royal attorneys are going to disagree with him? Harry knows this too. If he and Meghan had stayed there would be no income from Wm.

      • The Recluse says:

Considering that Charles ignored his parents’ wishes regarding the Dukedom of Edinburgh right off the bat, Camilla should be very worried at how William will treat his father’s wishes. If he could put her in the Tower for cause, he would I suspect.

    • Feeshalori says:

She’s definitely milking Charles for all he’s worth to make sure she’s on the gravy train if he goes first. I don’t like the woman but she’s smart in hanging onto her property since she’ll need it when William gives her the boot. What a shame Charles couldn’t give Harry and Meghan the same consideration that he does with this one.

      • Saucy&Sassy says:

Why would she give up her property? If I were her, I would keep it too, regardless of what Fails does in future. It gives her a bolt hole, and she can leave it to her kids.

      • Feeshalori says:

I never said she should give up her property, I said she was smart in hanging onto it. You’re actually agreeing with me.

  23. Wack says:

Sometimes life really isn’t fair. Camilla has really gotten everything she wanted after scheming and plotting for years leaving bodies along the way as Harry said . So sickening.
Also makes me think of Murdock and despite all the evil he’s done he’s lived a long life of wealth, power and privilege while good people got destroyed along the way.

    • Deering24 says:

But look at the life she has. There’s a reason she apparently stays boozed all the time. And she can never feel secure and be truly happy—living on a mountain of dirty deeds demands that you keep becoming a worse scumbag.

  24. Rnot says:

It’s not just keeping Ray Mill. If Charles and Camilla haven’t made provisions for her to be able to privately fund her security after his death then they’re incredibly shortsighted.

    • Tessa says:

It’s only difficult for Charles to provide security when it comes to the Sussexes.

    • Becks1 says:

I’m sure security will always be provided for her. When Charles dies, she’ll be the dowager queen. She’s definitely going to have security.

  25. Pam says:

If she’s this much of a train wreck, then how, pray tell did she attract Charles??? I can’t imagine being with anyone who didn’t bathe regularly. Also, you just KNOW she probably reeks of stale cigarette smoke.

I imagine this is pretty common among the aristo set. They just pull on their mothball-scented wool clothes and carry on.

TBH being a slob in peace is lifegoals for me.

  27. trixie says:

Those photos are terrifying. The soul has seeped through.

  28. SueBarbri33 says:

Everything we hear about them is so bad. A mad king being controlled by his dirty wife, an angry crown prince and his empty-headed, exhausted bride. Anne is old-fashioned and mean, Andrew is a pedophile, Edward and Sophie are thirsty and messy. The children are far too young to be of interest, the cousins have all left town. What are they going to do now? Honestly, their only real hope of survival is to scale this whole thing back and keep it low key in the style of the Dutch, but we all know the Windsors can’t be bothered to face facts. And so this boring, expensive show goes on and on.

    • AnneL says:

Are Edward and Sophie messy? They’re try-hard and have no charisma but they seem fairly together. And their kids seem nice enough.

      • susan says:

they’ve been messy. big scandal when Sofiesta got caught trying to make some money, Edwards’ alleged homosexual tendencies, etc

    • JanetDR says:

Of all of the things we now know, the fact that Charles and Andrew both have strong attachments to teddy bears is the oddest, saddest thing. Makes me wonder about Edward but it’s never come up as far as I am aware.

  29. Malificent says:

Meh — I’m very cluttery. My house maintains hygiene standards — but there is always stuff laying around. I’m also a responsible parent, child, pet owner, friend, neighbor, and home owner. Messiness is not a moral failing. And even if Camilla was actually a hoarder — that’s an OCD condition — so, again, mental health issues are not a moral failing.

I’d only get judgy if Camilla’s messiness comes from aristocratic laziness and expecting the hired help to clean up after her.

    • AnneL says:

That’s me too. I don’t judge her messiness. But it sounds like she was literally unclean, as well as inconsiderate. She was sharing an apartment and didn’t clean the bathroom after she used it. That’s not messy, it’s gross.

  30. blunt talker says:

Aging gracefully and naturally is not in the cards for this woman-she has the face of a dying nightmare scene.very scary looking.

  31. Malcolm says:

I know, I know.. we shouldn’t judge a book by it’s cover or judge people on their looks. But my god, one word comes to mind whenever I unfortunately see her picture: haggard.

  32. Maddie says:

I think more to the point is that she can go to that house and see her kids and grandkids. It’s pretty clear that this is not a blended family on Charles’ side. She normally sees her kids over the Christmas holidays and this year it looks like that didn’t happen. I’m no fan of Camilla but I totally would want to get away from Charles and that family as often as possible.

    • QuiteContrary says:

She probably makes her grandkids make her gin and tonics. She doesn’t strike me as the warm grandmother type.

  33. Saschafrom76 says:

She clearly trauma bonded Charles – what a diabolical narcissist she turned out to be. At least she got the face that she deserves.
