Kate Hudson carries pasties everywhere because ‘I don’t like bras’

Do you ever go through the YouTube wormhole, watching all of the videos in one particular magazine series? One of my favorites is British Vogue’s In My Bag series, where they sit down with celebrity women and the women just go through their bags and explain why they carry this or that. I love that kind of sh-t, because I’m endlessly curious about those kinds of minor-yet-revealing things. Well, Kate Hudson recently did an In My Bag video and hers was pretty revealing. I’m usually not big on Fendi bags (overpriced, too trendy) but hers is gorgeous.

She carries Listerine strips AND mints. Interesting. I used to carry those strips too but it felt like food tasted really different if you had one recently. I do keep gum and mints… but in my car, not in my bag. She says she stole the “Birdie” necklace from the set of Knives Out: Glass Onion because that’s Kurt Russell’s nickname for her and she thought it was fate. She also carries a necklace with her kids’ names too.

Kate’s also at an age where she carries travel-size Advil packets, which is funny. People are always like “you know you’re old when you have upstairs Advil and downstairs Advil.” Kate is the one buying all of the travel-size Advil packets. One of the big headlines from this video was Kate talking about her silicone pasties, aka nipple-covers. Kate told British Vogue:

“These. I have to bring with me everywhere, because I don’t like bras… I like to put these on my boobies, so, you know, nothing ever gets too aggressive. It makes sure that, like, a picture doesn’t become too much of a conversation piece.”

[From People]

Yeah… she’s always been small-busted though. Y’all small-busted ladies never talk about your privilege! You can just run around, braless, with stickers on your boobs and everyone is like “oh how chic!” If I did that with my DDD cups, I would be arrested.

Omg what I wouldn’t do to be able to just wear pasties. Never have and probably never will because I’m not going to get my boobs done at this point. Even in college I was so jealous of all of my friends that could wear backless shirts to the club or backless dresses to formals. Sadly I could never.

I feel very lucky at 28, because I never have to wear a bra, not even pasties, but at age 16 I was the only skinny girl with no chest and was made fun of endlessly.

I have a very small chest, long legs/arms and small bubble butt.

I often get asked, if I’m Alicia Vikander, I guess not just, because our faces are almost identical, but our breasts are very small.

My good friend’s mom had a breast reduction over a year ago and she says that it was the best decision she made in the last 30 years.

She definitely looks younger and a lot less matronly to me now.

      • Rosie says:

Also another downside to having big boobs. We have to deal with people saying we look “matronly”.

I thought I remember her getting implants around the time she dated ARod, but these pics have me thinking that I’m wrong or confusing her with someone else.

    Anyway… I’ve always loved her boho-glam style.

I remember we did have conversations here about how
she probably did get a bood job, but she stayed with the modest size and it fits her perfectly. A bra is not my cup of tea, i dont wear any whenever I can (weekends, working at home, going out with a coat on in public spaces) sometimes, I dont care, no pasties, I just go (C cup) but I got no paps following me lol

    • Hootenannie says:

I believe she did get “modest”’ implants back then, like Kendall Jenner did later on. No risk of no bra making you saggy if they’re fake.

    • Sunshine says:

      Good for Kate.
In my opinion, small breasts are much better in the long run, because a lot of women develop backaches, shoulder pain, lower backpain and even may look matronly as they age.
I know 2 women who chose to have breast reductions and they feel and look much better after the reduction surgery.
      To each his own.

As someone with DDDs, I would also get arrested. I’m jealous.

    • Digital Unicorn says:

I’m an DD/E (UK sizes) and only wear a bra when I have to go into the office to meet clients – otherwise its all me hanging around. I do love bralets though. I have nipple covers to hide the obvious when its cold – I just find wearing a proper bra restrictive and I get annoyed with the constant adjusting of the straps as they slip 🙁

  4. SomeChick says:

small busted privilege is a later in life thing. you get ridiculed for it for years first.

source: involuntary member of the itty bitty titty committee (who does appreciate it now lol) I’ve also always wanted curly hair, but you get what you get!

    • Erin says:

The grass is always greener right? I’ve always wanted straight hair lol.

    • Jais says:

Honestly, I was ignorant of my privilege for quite some time. But now I see it. I’m grateful. However, nipple shaming is real for those that choose not to wear a bra. Winter is okay bc of sweaters etc. Might give pasties a try but mostly I just wana say to people: they’re just nipples!!!

      • SomeChick says:

yes! they are just nipples!!! nearly everyone has two of them, and most babies see them all the time!

  5. Seraphina says:

I too will join the envy club. A 34C here and I would and never NEVER go braless. Ever. And now in my late 40s and having breast fed, well it’s a moot point.

  6. Digital Unicorn says:

I have to say that lip mask she mentions is amazing – I have it in in cherry and it does work. I think its been featured on here in the product posts.

    • Kitten says:

Can’t watch vid cuz I’m at work but was it Laneige? I’ve been using it for years and it’s amazing.
Re: lip scrubs, I think Beauty By Earth’s organic lip scrub is the BEST scrub that exists–exfoliates and hydrates wonderfully. Use it before bed and throw the Laneige mask on after. Works SO well.

  7. Joanna says:

I’m a 36DD and I go braless sometimes. Usually wearing a shirt with a jacket over the top. It does look make me look more “dumpy” as my boobs sag but sometimes I dgaf

  8. OriginalLala says:

In my teens and 20s I could never go braless with 36Hs. Had a reduction and lift and haven’t worn a bra since, only pasties. It’s been so liberating!

  9. Ameerah M says:

As a fellow DDD…I feel your pain Kaiser.

  10. Lucy says:

Literally last night I was looking at pasties on Amazon 😂. I’m a former IBTC member, after breastfeeding and hitting 40, I’m a small D cup. I think I might anyway, Dallas is too hot for bras in the summers.

  11. Dana says:

I thought this said “pastries” and it made me say to myself “good for her, I don’t like being without my favorite snacks too”. Then I read it again.

  12. The Voice says:

I’m a member of the itty bitty club. I’m flat despite having breastfed 2 children. I’m like a AAA at best. No need for bras but my nipples are very prominent. Maybe I should look into pasties!

I wear a bra mainly for the padding haha. It also gives me a hint of boobs otherwise clothes just hang.

At first I misread the headline and I thought Kate Hudson brings pastries everywhere. I’m down with that!!

  13. Jais says:

Did not know that having advil upstairs and downstairs was an indicator of being old, but in that case, I’m old lol. 42 so i already knew it but didn’t realize the advil gave me away 😂

  14. Moo says:

I have used the silicone version and they work pretty well. Don’t know if I cared for them properly because they pretty quickly lost the stick around their edges, which is important if wearing a form fitting shirt.

  15. Cat says:

Can we talk about how she just throws her glasses in her bag without a case? Fearless.
